Thank you to the publisher and Netgalley for the opportunity to read and review this book. I really enjoyed the inclusivity of the child in the wheelchair because that is definitely something you don't see too often. The illustrations were great and it was such a cute story. I would definitely buy this book for my nieces.
I received this book for free for an honest review from netgalley #netgalley
This book that I got from that Kelly sadly didn't transfer well to my Kindle the pictures were very distorted and such. But I was able to buy the book and love it and so did my boys.
Me and my 5 year absolutely enjoyed this halloween book! Being my son's first pick for the spooky season, he loved all the fall vibes and halloween related pictures. It was also a cute story and he was thoroughly entertained. Thanks Netgalley and SOURCEBOOKS kids for this ARC!

I received an e arc of this book from NetGalley and Sourscebooks Kids.
I read this book with my 4 and 8 year old kiddos. They always enjoy picture books with a rhyming story. Utilizing rhyming in kids books gives it a familiar cadence that is easier to remember and gives confidence to beginning readers and teaches younger kids about rhyming which helps them learn the ins and outs of language.
This was a nice length. Not too short, not too long. The pictures were glowingly animated in a fall color scheme that has me ready for cool temps and pumpkin patches. It conveys the many ways kids and families can enjoy the fall and Halloween season. Though it is billed as a Halloween book it does place significant emphasis on general fall activities as well which makes it a more versatile read than if it were only for the holiday.
5/5 for us.
Review to come on October 13th on blog/goodreads.
I received this book from Netgalley/the publisher in exchange of an honest review.
I just CANNOT resist Halloween books, especially not during this special time, Spooktober! So I had to request this book and I was in luck, I could read it! This was a delightful little picture book about Fall and the upcoming Halloween! From falling leaves and spiders to hayrides and candy buying and costumes. Each day we are getting closer to Halloween (and I did like seeing some supernatural critters along the way, yes keep your eyes peeled). I was definitely jealous of these kids, living a country where Halloween is so normal. Because I would also love hayrides, or make forts, or go to a corn maze, or have a big fat parade. And then there is trick or treating. Argh! I just wanted to step into the book, sadly, no portals opened so I was stuck in my own world.
The book is in rhyme and that made it even more fun! I really had fun!
I also have to give extra points for adding a kid in a wheelchair. It is still very rare to see someone in a wheelchair in children's books, so I am very delighted to see this little guy and see him have all the fun with his friends.
Though it is the monster of Frankenstein, not Frankenstein. Sorry, but I cannot help but correct that. XD
The art is just wonderful, I love love love the style! Be sure to also check those gorgeous pages before the book starts.
All in all, recommended to all! This is one Halloween book you definitely should check out. Perfect for the build-up to Halloween and Halloween itself.
I received copy of this book from NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.
This is a fantastic book! The child I read it too really enjoyed the rhyming story. And the pictures were adorable!
Very pleasant song in honour of Halloween, with a diverse bunch of kids seeing the whole town gear itself towards the big 'celebration' (or sanctioned sweet-begging season, depending on your point of view). It hits all the right marks, is very easy on the eye and very easy to read too, with expertly put together rhyming couplets. A strong four stars.
I received an advance copy of, Halloween Is Coming!, by Cal Everett. I love the illustrations in this book, and that its a rhyming story. This is a great Halloween book for kids.
This is an adorable kids book. Perfect for Halloween. The illustrations are very cute. Great rhyming storyline. The kids love all the costumes.
This picure book is incredibly cute and the characters are so diverse, I love it.
The 'monsters', which you can search for on every page, look just as cute and not scary at all. The illustrations are digitally created, but they look hand drawn and I think they have a great appeal.
Super cute read to get kids excited about Halloween! I really liked the variety of costumes and diversity shown in the book.
Read a digital copy through Netgalley. My preschoolers love this type of book. It hits all the boxes, it’s easy to follow, contains sharp and fun illustrations, and has diverse characters everyone in the class can see themselves in. I don’t think every rhyme works as well as it could, but overall it’s the perfect book to add to your classroom for the Fall season and sure to be a repeat hit.
This is a prefect book to read to kids or for kids to read themselves about Halloween and the different costumes kids can wear. And the Illustration is great. Perfect Halloween book
As the nights grow longer and colder, all signs point to the upcoming celebration of Halloween. Three unnamed friends observe the arrival of autumn together; colorful leaves fall from trees, decorations appear, and hayrides invite the children to embrace the sights, sounds, and smells of the season. More and more evidence indicates the passage of time until the children are ultimately able to show off their costumes while traveling from home to home to trick or treat with their friends.
Designed for young children, this book consists of rhyming couplets with very few words on each page. The phrases are thoughtfully placed beside the illustrations to link them together as related entities, and the words often become part of the visual component of the page themselves. Throughout the story, readers are told of the noteworthy indicators of Halloween’s upcoming arrival in a poetic and repetitive style, and families will love reading this story together in anticipation of Halloween night.
Digitally rendered illustrations overlayed with pencil textures give the book a soft and accessible visual quality that will connect with young readers. Hidden surprises entice children to take a closer look at the images in order to account for all of the intricate details included in each one. An inclusive cast of characters appears in the illustrations, all of whom come together for a final tableau at the end of the story. Delightful Halloween accents adorn the endpapers as well as the primary text, enhancing the overall quality of this book.
Halloween is one of the most eagerly anticipated celebrations of the fall, and this story lovingly captures the joys of autumn as seen through the eyes of a child while incorporating recognizable fall activities along the way. Engaging illustrations and a rhyming narrative make this an excellent selection to read aloud to children in either a school or home setting as Halloween draws closer. This is a charming addition to the canon of Halloween picture books for children.
Halloween is my favorite holiday and I’m always looking for fun books for my kids. My toddler loved this book! He enjoyed all the illustrations and the rhymes. I liked the progression of preparing for Halloween and then finally getting to go trick or treat. Cute story and beautiful illustration.
Thanks to Sourcebooks and NetGalley for access to this ARC
Halloween Is Coming! is an adorable children's book all about the wonderful things to do in fall and on Halloween. The illustrations are beautiful and fun and the story is told in rhyme. I love the inclusive characters and how multiple fall activities are featured. Kids will love this one!
Thank you NetGalley and the publisher for providing this ARC.
Halloween is my favorite holiday and this book brought to life everything that is great about the day! The illustrations were bright and colorful and the text was fun and cheery. A great addition to any library!
Such a sweet book for Halloween! Not too spooky, very inclusive, and I loved the illustrations! Great addition to your school or home library.
I liked this story of preparing for Halloween! NIce simple text, so it should appeal to kids 2 to 7. The ilustrations look wonderfu- big, bold, and I assume colorful(my Kindle only shows b/w). It would make a fun fall or Halloween gift for the youngins. Nice addition to a holiday collection, too.
This delightful book is a celebration of the anticipation and taking part in, one of a kid's favourite nights... Hallowe'en. Written in rhyme, featuring a diversity of kids in costumes and adults handing out treats, it is the perfect read before this fun spooky night arrives.
Kids are encouraged to look around and observe the signs that Hallowe'en is getting near. Some of the signs are: getting dark at dinner time, leaves falling on the lawn, a chill in the air, and pumpkins to carve, just to name a few. The illustrations are detailed, full of action, and engaging. They invite kids to come along and join in on the fun. Wen has included various monsters throughout - a ghost near a hay-bale castle and a goblin on a rooftop. Finally the big night arrives: At last, “it’s tricks, and treats, and frights, and fun,/ and spooky things for everyone! Look around, the signs are clear Halloween if finally HERE!" I highly recommend this book.
