This was an enjoyable crime thriller. There was plenty in this to keep me interested. Seems like a promising new series.

Two bodies are found floating with a string tied to their wrists. Dr. Nadine Finch is a forensic psychologist assigned to the case. She quickly realises this case is very similar to her mother’s case and suspects the killer is a copycat. Nadine turns to her mother she hasn’t talked to for years to try to find out more about her victims and murders to catch the killer before they strikes again. Nadine also discovers there are more children of convicted murderers working with her. There is no way this is a coincidence so she has to wonder if this is connected to the murders.

A fantastic start to a new series. The story is full of suspense and pulls you in till the end, though pace could have been better. An interesting police procedural for thriller fans.

I found this to be an overall enjoyable read. It wasn't reinventing the wheel again which i appreciate.

This was a pretty solid read. I liked the characters, the plot was quick, and the twists were well done. The writing was done in a way to mislead the reader, so anytime I thought I knew who the killer was, I was wrong.

For an introduction to a series, I found this book well laid out. I really enjoyed Nadine, the main character. She is intelligent, complicated, and has a huge heart. Despite the things in her past that she wants to stay in her past, she has the determination to change her future.

Demko was a significant male lead. Charismatic and brave, he won me over with his dog. He is everything you want in a leading man. The supporting characters were all well developed and played their parts well throughout this novel.

The level of cat and mouse this plot achieved was intense. It was practically impossible to guess what would happen next, which I love in a thriller. The way the plot unfolded was exciting, and the book was difficult to put down. I will definitely be looking for a book two- I have to know what Nadine decides!

Circumstances change so that Nadine is tasked with being the profiler for the case, even though she's never done it before. She is working with Detective Clint Demko, a man that shares her dedication to justice and has smoldering good looks that catch Nadine's attention. Their chemistry is palpable, and as the case intensifies so does their attraction. It's a heated and suspenseful chase to save lives, including Nadine's. It will be fun to see what happens next for Dr. Finch.

This is the first book in the series featuring forensic psychologist Nadine Finch. We learn that Nadine’s mum, Arleen, is a serial killer and that Nadine has moved to a new job to forget her past. The book opens with the killer’s thoughts of how the world will be a better place if he gets rid of unfaithful couples. The first two bodies are brutally sliced and mutilated, their fingers cut and rings removed and they are bound together with a rope. When Nadine is called out to investigate she is terrified as she realises that the killings are identical to the ones Arleen carried out when Nadine was a child. Arleen is now in prison on death row. When two more bodies turn up Nadine realises that she will have to overcome her fears and confront her mother to shed light on the case. We are introduced to her new partner Detective Clint Demko who also has a mysterious past. Nadine’s house is broken into and her secret past is made public so she knows that she is up against time before the killer strikes again and that Clint or herself could be the next victim. This was a riveting read, full of tension and plenty of twists and turns. I can’t wait to read the next book in the series.

I found this book quite hard to get into but I'm pleased I carried on. I ended up really enjoying it.

The plot was full of twists to keep you guessing. And the characters history was certainly unique.

This book started with a gruesome scene, but it immediately set the stage for the rest of the book. As you can see from blurbs (and even the cover) Nadine has an interesting background. She’s the daughter of a notorious serial killer. She’s also a forensic psychologist. Great choices to make a complex character. I also appreciated how the author made certain characters just murky enough that it was plausible to follow Nadine’s suspicions, regardless of if they were correct or not. An excellent read and a different slant on your usual serial killer thriller, with wonderful complex characters.

Well that was certainly a very different plot, bravo for that Ms Kernan.

Let’s get the bad stuff out of the way first. For me the book started in a very inauspicious way and I was dreading what was to come

First off I want to say a huge thank you to the publisher Bookouture , the author Jenna Kernan , and to NetGalley for letting me read and review it. Because as soon as I started reading it I couldn't stop reading it, was hooked from the start and I just wanted to keep reading . Its the type of book that is suspenseful with a lot of action, and makes you wounder if its a copycat or if the actual serial killer had a helper that no one knew about .The killer themselves is written so will that they give you goosebumps, as for the story line its its well written and the pace is not to fast or slow , its the kind I like because it helps build up the tension of the story so much so that your be setting at the edge of your set. And the twist that though out will keep you guessing .

A Killer's Daughter was a great start to a new series! Its edgy, & had a good plot. While most chapters were good, I enjoyed reading the flashback chapters. The cases from Nadine's past were somehow more chilling & interesting than the present day cases. The characters especially Nadine's was intriguing. The serial killer mum's story was riveting too but towards the end started to seem like she was trying to be nasty a little too hard. There were some points that were left unanswered & I will certainly be picking the next book to see what happens with Nadine's quest to put those questions to rest. There were certainly way too many coincidences for my liking even if they were engineered into the plot & addressed - that part felt a bit off. The end was twisted & had a tense chapter but wasn't shocking. In the end, knowing this was fiction it was a good book but it always feels great when a book gets as close to reason & probability. I'd love to see what Nadine get's up to with her next case!

Love that this part of a series! Probably going to be one of my favorite thriller series and I’m excited to see where the other books go!

Wouldn't recommend if you have a weak stomach because the story is quite darker than the usual thriller.
The book is full of twists and the story is quite interesting!

Imagine being a serial killer's daughter. Not only that but having been told that it's in the family and she should follow in the family "business".

Dr. Nadine Finch had been assigned to create a profile due to the recent murders of a young couple. As Nadine starts to review the evidence she sees a red rope eerily reminding her of another murder which is all to familiar. Nadine flashes back to her childhood remembering sights she wishes never to recall.

Det. Clint Demko recently arrived from Miami Dade area is assigned to the case and will be working with Nadine while she works to create a profile. Each of them have secrets from their past they would not want to share but also have difficulty in trusting anyone with the truth. When another two bodies are discovered, Nadine will fear there is a copycat following a pattern from her past. If she is to get the profile correct she will have to find a way to trust Clint and work together to solve the crime.

A Killer’s Daughter is the first book in the series. I thought I knew who the killer was, but as I read more I found that I kept changing that opinion. I really like suspenseful books that are not obvious as to the killer. These books pull you into to the story and make them all the more rewarding.

This was my first time reading Jenna Kernan and I was just blown away by the story. It's a unique storyline that sucked me in. Most of the characters are likable even if they are not really relatable! The twists help, but they aren't over the top.

While I enjoyed the story and am eagerly awaiting book 2, I will be honest and say it was a little drawn out and repetitive about some things. So you might skim through some bits to get back to the good stuff :)

I loved this book. It had a bit of a twist compared to the usual crime thrillers. I really liked Nadine's character and watching her cope with her secret past. The start is a bit repetitive with her paranoia and distrust of everything but it definitely made me question who could be trusted. There are some great characters and I really liked Clint and Juliette.

There were so many red herrings that I had zero idea who the bad guy was although once it was revealed it made total sense. Once the case gets going it’s fast paced even with the chapters going back to Nadine’s past. The ending was explosive and I really wasn’t sure which way it was going to go. I hope we get to see more from Nadine.

It reminded me of the DI Amy Winter series by Caroline Mitchell which I also really enjoyed.

I wanted to love this book but it just didn't grip me the way I had hoped. I found myself losing interest about halfway through.

This was a fascinating take on a serial killer book, and promises to be a great start to a series. The premise was intriguing, to have a child of a serial killer mother who unwittingly disposed of evidence of her crimes, and then report her to the authorities. Very creepy and dark throughout, although I do think it was a fairly long book and could have been condensed slightly, to keep up the impact of the plot.
Nadine Finch is a strong and capable protagonist who clearly struggles with her guilt of her childhood and her involvement. I look forward to the next installment!

This is a psychological thriller that is tension filled and thought provoking.

The main character is an intelligent, strong professional woman who is uniquely qualified to profile and, hopefully, capture a killer before he commits another heinous act.

A really good read.
