Hi everyone!
I chose to read this book because I follow and absolutely love the author of this book!
The illustrations are so adorable and the short comics even more.
The comic collection represents Beanie as a kid, teen and adult. All the stages are so relatable and all the characters are so sweet and caring.
If you love short adorable comics I recommend this book!

I have been a big fan of Alina Tysoe for a while so I was beyond excited to see that they were releasing a bind up of their comics. I was even more excited to receive an arc of this book early through net galley. I think this is such a cute slice of life comic. Beanie is extremely relatable especially as she grows up because we were all that weird kid who thought weird things. The comics were really cute and well laid out on the pages. I love the progression from baby Beanie to adult/present day Beanie. I really hope she gets the dog she's been dreaming of since she was a kid! Overall, I really recommend this book and the author.

What's Up Beanie?

OK, so I was so excited when I found this on netgallery, my sister and I have been following Alina for a while now and we both love her funny storys, they'll make you smile and relate with the author.
If you haven't found her yet on social media like Instagram I highly recommend you do.

Thanks to the publishers for sharing this one. I really enjoyed it. My full review appears on Weekend Notes.

I’ve been following Beanie’s web comics for a few years and they’ve provided me comfort and made me snort with laughter on even my worst days. So I was so happy and proud to hear that Beanie (Alina) would be releasing her own book and sharing her comics with the world! This book contains a collection of some of her most well-loved comics from her Instagram that long-time followers will remember and that will make newtime readers instant fans. Not only that, but this book contains exclusive, never-before-seen comics—so whether you’ve been following her comics for years or whether you just picked this book up for the first time, this book is for anyone and everyone to discover and enjoy!
This book was such a fun reading experience of marrying the new with the old—quite literally, as this book is split into different phases in Beanie’s life, each featuring a different version of her, from “Baby Beanie” to “Teen Beanie” to “Adult Beanie.” In this way, I also loved the sentiment that this book held, which is all about having a conversation with your younger self and being able to look back at the same memory from different places in your life. And of course, I thoroughly enjoyed the commentary between Baby Beanie and Adult Beanie as part of the bonus content.
Alina also does a great job of pulling from the full scope of her work and doesn’t just include more recent comics. I found myself smiling fondly at some old favorites while unexpectedly coming across ones I’d never seen before (including, of course, her bonus comics made exclusively for this book!) I also caught several older comics from her very early days, some of which even looked like they were re-drawn to match her newer art style, which I thought was a nice touch! While I do think the overall structure of the book could be tightened up a little to be a bit more cohesive, I thought the selection of comics was a perfect mix. There’s some zany humor, some relatable mid-twenties musings, some nostalgia and childlike wonder, and even some comics that will tug at your heartstrings.
Again, this book is perfect for fans of Beanie's web comics, but I also sincerely hope that this collection only introduces more people to her work, because she is absolutely an underrated gem, and her wit and storytelling ability are unmatched.

'What's Up, Beanie?' is a collection of very cute comics based on the illustrator's experiences and her life as a child, teenager and adult. Most of them were pretty relatable and heartwarming! The structure of the book wasn't the best and I would have loved to read more comics from the teenage years (I feel like that part was way too short). Nevertheless, it's a very cute book and I would recommend it!

I absolutely loved this book! It gave me an immense sense of warmth and truly made my serotonin levels go up higher than they have in a while. I mean what is there not to love? Tysoe beautifully illustrates the value of life's little moments in the most adorable and endearing illustrations. The book is colorful, lively, extremely relatable, and perfectly arranged to show the change over time in the author. I enjoyed the fact that although most of the moments featured from Tysoe's life were happy, not all of them were, allowing the author to showcase both her struggles and the support that follows. After just a few pages, I found myself in love with the characters and fully vested in the moments they shared. I would recommend this book to readers of all ages who could use a little warmth in their life.

Thanks to NetGalley for providing the ARC for this cute graphic novel or comic. It was such an entertaining read , full of sarcasm and wit. I could relate to many chapters, Beanie is such a cute character.

Being overly excited to dive into this graphic novel/short comics book based on the Instagram account of the same name, I somehow skipped completely over the cover of this book. As I was reading, all I could think was, "Wow, these are so relatable" over and over again. When I finished the book and scrolled back up to the cover, I almost laughed out loud at seeing the subtitle description, "acutely relatable".
In this book of short comics, the Beanie of today is visited by her childhood self from the past. Together, they reminisce (and look forward to) childhood memories, awkward teenage years, and coming-of-age moments into adulthood. The author's ability to weave a cohesive thread throughout a book consisting only of comics is impressive and makes it all the more enjoyable.
Readers of all ages, especially those with an affinity for puppies and lazy days (aka most of us) will love this book.
Thank you so much to both the author and NetGalley for this eARC!
4.5/5 star rating

Quirky and cute, don't forget to get a dog!
In this adorable comic we meet Beanie as she meets her younger self. She gets to remember her past from being an adventurous toddler all the way to her present life. There were several moments where she was easily relatable. I loved the innocent charm of Beanie and also how she's okay being herself even when she's doubting how others see her. She learnt some powerful lessons and they are presented to the reader in an adorable fashion. Even though it's a comic you get the complete picture of Beanie's life and how she copes and evolves. Cute and so fun!
I would like to thank NetGalley, Alina Tysoe and the publisher for allowing me to read an advanced copy of "What's Up Beanie". I am leaving my honest, voluntary review.

5/5 love this collection of comics.
I love this artist and their comics! This was such a cute slice of life collection that spanned from childhood to adulthood. I think if you like "newspaper comics" and slice of life and humor then you should check these out! I don't really know how to praise it any more than this haha. I definitely will be adding it to my physical collection eventually and really recommend it!

I follow the author on Instagram and this book is just as adorable and entertaining as I expected. The comics are heart warming and entertaining and I definitely see myself reading and rereading this in the future. Highly recommend to everyone.

This collection of comics is soo cute! I love the characters and how the author reminisces about her childhood. It reminded me of some of my own childhood memories.
It's a nice and light read and I recommend it for anyone who wants to take a break from the longer novels.
Thanks to Netgalley for allowing me to read this arc in exchange for an honest review.

I can't gush enough about this adorable and relatable book! Beanie as a child is hilarious and precious, and adult Beanie I swear is me. The illustrations are bubbly and just make you so happy, loving every minute of it!

Cute relatable comics, with beautiful illustrations and anecdotes which will make you laugh. Baby Beanie was my favorite

What’s Up, Beanie is a collection of comics previously posted on Instagram with some context sprinkled in with the narrator essentially telling the story of the comics. I think it was a very cute way to adapt Instagram short comics into a full story. It’s a collection about growing up and learning about yourself. It was incredibly sweet.
One thing I really loved was the art style. I had seen the art around before and I think it is just the cutest style. I love the colour palette and how soft everything feels. It was a quick read but it was nice and sweet.

Let me start my review by telling you that I heard so much about this comic and I really wanted to pick a copy myself. It was such a fast read, and can we just take the time to appreciate how relatable it is? Especially for a book addict. I mean, it was like I was reading my own diary at some points. Introvert, check! Book addict, check! A grown-up who still acts childish, HUGE CHECK! I really loved this read, it sure cheered me up and made me smile. I highly recommend you reading this, maybe it will light up your day as much as it did mine. | Advance Review Copy generously provided by NetGalley, all opinions in this review are my own.
