I am 20% through this book and feel like I have read it before? Or maybe something very familiar because I can easily guess everything that is going to happen. The story is okay, a human in a world surrounded by supernaturals. Lack of knowing what is going on is one of the many problems Milena faces. It’s okay, but not good enough to keep me reading unfortunately.

I really wanted to love this and I tried so bloody hard but I just couldn't' connect with the main character.

The premise was good - after all I read the blurb and wanted to read more - but it sadly didn't deliver.

Creatures of the Night by Grace Collins puts a different spin on wolf shifters, as well as adding some new creatures. I completely enjoyed the characters, the story line, and all the going ons. I felt like there was definitely a romance, but it was hard to feel the chemistry completely, because the trust hadn't been built yet, and I find that to be very believable. She was raised to believe certain things, and it's hard to forget all that quickly. So, her world was turned upside down and her trust was gone. I feel like she had signs that all wasn't well, but as a child you want to believe the best about things, and that's what she did as she grew up. So, I felt like that was all well done too. The story had a dark feel to it and kind of made me think of The Village at times.

My issue is with the ending.

It all happened so fast. Just bam, bam, bam. Done. As a reader, I felt a little left in the dust. But, I'm hoping there will be some clarity in the next book in this series. Despite the 3 star rating (which I'm still struggling with. I might change it to a 4, because, it's been a few weeks since I've read it, and I'm still feeling favorable to it. There was so much to love about it. It had practically everything I love about fiction within it's pages, but endings really make or break a story for me. You know what? Since I'm still arguing with myself all these weeks later, which means the book has clearly stuck with me in a big way. I'm bumping it to 4 stars.) I'm actually quite excited to read more in this world. I'm extremely glad there is another book coming.

This was such a fun paranormal romance! The romance in here is definitely slow burn and I'm assuming it's going to be a series since it has a cliffhanger, so make sure you know about that going in. Melina has grown up with this group of people since she was a child and her parents died. Her 20th birthday is coming up and everything she has ever know goes out the window as she has to decide for herself who to trust and who is her enemy. I'm so excited for the next book.

YA is often hit or miss for me, so I was excited to see if Creatures of the Night would be as original as it sounded. There are a lot of moving pieces in this one to sort out. The world-building itself was great. I think the author did a good job at showing the reader the world instead of just telling. I also thought the characters had dialogue that flowed well but the characters themselves didn't stand out to me. They needed something more to make them three-dimensional. I did find the plot somewhat predictable. This was one that I set down and returned to a couple of times before making it through. .

3.5 stars.

Loved the idea of this book as well as the relationships and bonds between characters.

However I did feel like it started off very rushed, I would have loved to read a bit more about the characters before we jumped in! After we got over that hurdle, however, everything did start to feel easier to read and the plot twists were amazing.

The cliffhanger was great, I loved it. I will be reading the next book for sure.

this was giving strong 2014-paranormal romance vibes and i think it would've done super well back then but now, I didn't love it as much as i probably would've back then. apparently there's a sequel so I'm looking forward to more character development then!

I received this book in exchange for a review from NetGalley.

This book surprised me in more ways than one. It took many twists and turns that left me on the edge of my seat. I thought I had this whole book figured out. It started off so typical with one small town girl meets otherwordly creature. We have all read this story before, but yet this author takes a simple premise and manages to turn it on its head. Even the characters who I thought I figured out, yet again, she keeps them interesting and fully thought out. In the end, I enjoyed this book and look forward to reading more books in the future, especially this series.

This was a good read and an original concept. I liked Milena. At first I was worried that she was going to be yet another self sacrificing young female YA character that needs constant saving from her legion of protectors. As the plot thickened and her knowledge grew, she showed real grit and intelligence.

A super enjoyable paranormal romance! Well done slow-burn, great supporting characters, and who doesn't love werewolves? It took a little bit to take off for me, but the ending was pretty action packed (maybe a little too quick as well). I would have appreciated dual POV from Milena and Elias and the world building could have been a little better, but overall a fun read.

Synopsis

Milena’s biggest dream from the time she was a little girl was to become a huntress like her guardian Charles, and the leader of their people. However, he and his people had different plans for her. What she knew was that they were hunting the monsters they called creatures of the night. She always saw murderers in them while they were only protecting their people from her people. She learned about it soon after she turned twenty. On her twentieth birthday she learned that she won’t become a huntress, but a sacrifice. Charles was raising, and protecting her this whole time just to sacrifice her for immortality. She was lucky enough that someone was always nearby watching her, and making sure she wouldn't get hurt. On the day of the sacrifice, the leader of the creatures of the night came to her rescue. He took her away and shared the truth with her. Now it’s her turn to decide what to do with this knowledge and learn who she can trust.

Book Review

I think I didn’t read any books about werewolves for about ten years. When I started reading books they all were about vampires and werewolves, so after reading a thousand of them, I didn't feel like reading stories like this anymore. However, since I had a good surprise with books like Crave, and The Beautiful that was about vampires, I decided to give this book a chance. It was so good that I read it in two days. I wasn’t expecting it, and imagine my shock when after two hours I was already halfway through the book.

The world in this book was divided into four species; humans, shifters, hollowers, and whispers. The whispers were the most powerful of them all because of their unique powers, however, with years they became almost extinct since only one of them was left behind on the earth. Wolf shifters dedicated their lives to protecting the vulnerable humans from the colonies of hollowers that are feeding on them to survive. This was the first thing that intrigued me to read it because of its uniqueness. I liked the fact that when you read the book you learn about this world together with Milena since she found out about all of this first when she was taken away from hollowers. It let me understand the world and the story better.

In the beginning, I thought the trope in this book was the chosen one but how wrong I was. The book is full of plot twists and you never know what’s gonna happen next, and who you and Milena can trust. Milena grew a lot as a person in this book since after she was betrayed by her only family she didn’t know who he was. It took her quite some time to figure it out but it also made her stronger. Elias was a great help to her. He made her feel safe for the first time in a long time. He gave her a place to belong, and people to care about. You have no idea how badly I wanted them to be together. You can feel the chemistry between them but he keeps his distance, which made me drive crazy. Well, I understand why he does it but man it’s so frustrating.

Elias is my favorite character in this book but it’s not a surprise. Mysterious and powerful guys were always my weakness. He has something in himself that you just want to get more and more scenes with him. I still feel I didn’t get enough of him, so I hope there will be a second book since there is such a cliffhanger at the end of the book.

What else can I tell you? If you are looking for an original story with new species and a unique plot then you should read this book. It will not disappoint you! I would like to thank FavoritePages, Grace Collins, and Wattpad Books for including me in the blog tour for this book. I cannot wait to read the next book in this series!

This story was wonderful!! I loved the dark, paranormal aspects of the book. The beginning was amazing and started out very strong. It got a little rough for me at the end…definitely wasn’t the ending I was expecting. But overall, it was a great story and I can’t wait to read the next book in the series.

I was definitely drawn in by the stunning cover and the really intriguing synopsis, however, the book turned out somewhat basic. The concept, although common had tons of potentiality to be executed in a better manner but it was pretty much predictable. There were loads of telling instead of showing and the characters were a tad bit annoying. However, it is a great book for someone looking for a light-read and easy-flowing language and detailed imagery with some cliches. It is medium-paced and dragging at some occasional places, but the ending certainly makes up for it.

Wow.
This book had me whirling around. Malina was an absolutely amazing character. The growth was slow and everything was absolutely perfectly well developed.
This was a five star read.
The ending was slightly predictable or maybe I should say overdone, in that a lot of books lately have ended with that sort of cliffhanger. But the world development, the stockholm syndrome-esque feelings, the relationships were so so well developed and well done that the ending didn't really matter. I can't wait to see how Collins does the second book.

I kind of had low expectations for this book. Like the synopsis seemed really interesting, but a lot of times stories like this end up disappointing. That is not the case with this book, it far exceeded my expectations.

I do feel like the "battle" part of the book dragged on a bit. However the ending sent me on an emotional Rollercoaster.

*possible spoilers*

I was pissed, you really put me through all of that just for their relationship to end like THAT?? But I was hopeful, there were still a few more pages and we get that beautiful cliffhanger.

I can't wait for the next book!

*Thank you to the publisher for this eARC.

Creatures of the Night is a fast-paced thriller that is sure to keep you on the edge of your seat. I was pulled in from the beginning and did not want to put this one down.

honestly, i was kind of excited for this book since i do think that it does have some werewolf plot, which i do think is always so cool and that i always kind of wanted to read more books with werewolves, but, i do think that it also had some issues and that it just didn't work for me.

i will say though, i did like the fantasy plot and the development from this as a whole. so, i did like that we had the humans and the werewolves, and the different names for each creatures were honestly cool and that the names were honestly unique and not like black or red or something stupid like that. but, i still wish there was more development about that, but i still liked what we got though.

but, i also think milena was just a bad character by herself. like she was just bland and didn't really have a personality and was literally nothing special about her. like i do think she has a lot of fear and she was very angry, like i do enjoy the emotion, but it still was literally nothing. and i still think that she never felt bad about anything that happened for her or the harder parts of her life, i just didn't feel for her. and i also feel like the side characters were also just the same thing. like i do think it was all so bland and boring and i just did not like it. and like nothing ever happened with these characters that were interesting.

and just like the next person, i do like fast paced books. so, i think that it was always cool and i always kill for fast paced books. but, i feel like this book was way to fast. like, instead of being fast and happening it at a fast pace, this book was so fast that literally things happened, but it went straight over your head and that it didn't make sense cause it was so damn fast. but, i also think since it was so fast and so plot driven, that the characters had no development, so if they made this book slower it would have worked so much better.

I was absolutely enthralled with the plot of Creatures of the Night. The flow of the writing was beautifully done and the plot was well spaced out in my opinion. I have been very excited about reading this book and was not disappointed at all.
Creatures of the Night follows an enemies to lovers plot involving Milena, a member of a village who hunts the creatures of the night. Milena is an enjoyable FMC with a mysterious past and curious nature. I did feel like her character could use some more depth but the foreshadowing in this book tells me that the next installment will be revealing for sure.
I felt like the chemistry in this book was very YA and slow burn. The world building was very easy to follow which is appreciated. It was fun reading a book that focused mainly on plot and relationships between characters.
I definitely had fun reading this book and would recommend it for a quick YA Fantasy read

Thank you to the author and to Wattpad Books for the opportunity to read and review this ARC.

What lured me to the novel was the cover and the premise. I really wanted to love the story as I have little enough time to read and am always on the hunt for my next book hangover.
Despite the simplistic style of writing, I did enjoy the first 8 chapters. But then the book began to drag and the dialogue became repetitive. To the point that I could skip multiple pages without missing anything important. This book, without meaning to sound obnoxious, honestly should've been half (if not a third) of the length it is. So, determined to see it through in the hopes of being rewarded for my determination, I kept going. But then I began skimming as I became increasingly frustrated. Turns out this book culminates in a very unsatisfying cliffhanger. Not the sort of nail-biting cliffy that leaves you desperate for more (if I'm honest, I couldn't wait for it to end). No, the sort cliffy that infuriates you because you've trudged through adolescent writing and dialogue and come away feeling cheated. A few answers at least. But it turns out the whole book is mostly filler that results in a sudden head-scratching ending.
Can't say I felt very much for the main character, Milena. I don't care what happens to her and I definitely don't care what happens to Elias. Their chemistry fell flat and his moodiness was like a bad whiplash.

I sound like a horrible person. And I feel horrible for writing a bad review. I know this is the author's debut novel. In her defense, it was a strong start. I would suggest, in future, that her editor helps her amputate a lot of needless, repetitive waffling.
Overall it felt like filler to stretch the story toward an anticlimactic finish.

This was a good book. This is about Milena who lives in the tunnels and has just turned twenty which means she can go on the hunt for the Creatures of the Night but meets Elias which makes her question who she is and what is the truth. I really enjoyed this new story of it being kind of like an end of the world type story but with monsters and more people. This dystopian/fantasy read was wonderfully written with amazing conflicts and action. I have to say that the world-building was a little confusing in some ways as I felt it could have been simpler but I still enjoyed learning about this new world. This book had a good amount of ACOTAR vibes as in seeing how Elias' city was described, the side characters, the party being kind of like Starfall, etc. The plot structure was good from the beginning to the middle but then towards the end, it got a little out of control. The characters in this book were well done and I enjoyed them.

This book is in Milena's PoV who has just turned twenty and is about to go on a hunt only to be betrayed. I enjoyed her character development in the book but at times I felt she was annoying at times (which I felt could be understood as for what she was going through). I especially enjoyed the side characters who helped Milena and were also very involved with the book. The side characters kind of reminded me a little of The Inner Circle which you can see when you read the book. I really enjoyed Elias' character as there are so many secrets of him that we still need to figure out in the next book. The romance in this book is kind of like enemies to lovers and I really didn't enjoy it. I felt the romance was forced and wasn't properly developed in the book.

The ending of this book was kind of messy and so much happened. It was an ok ending but I felt it could have been simpler. This book did have minor problems but overall it was a great read. I will be reading the next book just to see what happens. This was a great Wattpad to novel adaptation which I love seeing how Wattpad authors are turning into actual published authors. I think this book will be perfect for those who are fans of ACOTAR, Divergent, KotW.
