A great historical romance from Howard, she is witty and saucy as ever. You get a great start with a marriage at odds. Great chemistry, great humor, and great steam! I loved the friendship between Isobell and Clarissa. I love when a man has the epiphany and does a little groveling to our heroine. A great read with all the swoon I wanted for this. I do think the middle drags just a little bit but before and after are smooth reading.

I liked this one but I wouldn't say I loved it as much as the Beast of Beswick(which was one of my faves in 2019). I wasn't really rooting for Isobel and Winter as I never felt much of the connection between them.

This was so cute. The tension was so perfect and really showed how much the really love each other and the smut was mind blowing

Unfortunately this book was a miss for me.

I had some problems with the writing and I can’t even explain what it was that bothered me about it sorry.
I didn’t understand the heroines eternal struggle to win the hero’s affections since I thought him very annoying and way too stubborn.
I just thought she should move on and take a lover and be happy in the country where she loved to be.
It also bothered me that he wouldn’t listen to his father and half brother when they wanted to tell him the truth about his sisters death. If he had done that there wouldn’t have been all this heartache and they could have been happy way before.
For me the mystery should have been the main plot but that also fell flat to me unfortunately.

The good thing about the story is the heroine’s sister from the former book, the best friend who is very open to speaking about sex and her relationship with the hero’s half brother and the orphan twins that are so different from each other that you can’t help but laugh.

I hope I will love the next book.

Ok, this was my first venture into a sexier romance novel... And it was a fun one! I enjoyed the historical setting and how that gave the reader a glimpse into dating and marriage in that time period. Be warned: the chemistry between the main characters definitely gets you hooked and you can't put this book down.

This is one amazing romance read. Full of steam, romance, family drama, hidden secrets and the most hilarious and satirical sexual advice, there’s no way I can’t help but give it the highest of praise. If you are into steamy romances, then I recommend this read be at the top of your list. Isobel and Winter are alluring characters that you can’t help but fall in love with, and their sexual encounters are salacious and sexy. With a plot line that is not what it seems, it’s easy to ravage this read in one sitting. I absolutely loved it.
This is Book 2 in the Regency Rogues Series including the Everleigh Sisters but can be read as a stand alone. The first book, The Beast of Beswick is one of O-The Oprah Magazine’s Top 24 Best Historicals to Read, and I highly recommend it as well.

How is your Monday going? It was foggy as heck out today, so I decided to pretend I was living in a cloud all day. It was fun.

I was too hung up on disbelieving the hero’s motivations to really get into this book. Roth abandons his wife the morning after their wedding, and ignores his better sense in favor or a grudge against his father. The modern language was off-putting, but only mildly. I liked the heroine better, but not enough to rescue the book from so-so!

This was my first regency romance, and I really enjoyed it. I don't think sex is the way to win someone over, but it was a fun book to read.

This book didn’t seem to work for me. I tried very hard to connect with the characters but I never seemed to do it. I did not finish this one because I was not invested in the story. I hope to be able to pick the book back up and try again later.

I tried to get into this. Historical romance is hit or miss for me. Sadly this one was a miss. I may read it again at a later time and see if it sparks something different in me.

The Rakehell of Roth, is book 2 of The Everleigh Sisters series. Most of the main characters were introduced there and by the end The Beast of Beswick both sisters seemed to be safe from the villain, the Duke of Beaumont. But looks are deceiving.

While young Isobel is already in infatuated with her new husband, Winter, the Marquess of Roth he only married her to save her from Beaumont and he needed a wife to secure his inheritance from his father the Duke of Kendrick. He beds her once, spilling his seed, as he has no intention of ever fathering a child (not that he ever shared that with her before the wedding) and then leaves her at his father's residency, Rothingham Gable in Chelmsford. He hates his father, because he believes that his father is responsible for the death of his mother and his beloved sister Prue. He is also not on very good terms with his younger brother Oliver. While he plays the rake, he is secretly one of the partners of the Silver Scythe, an infamous social club, has become quite wealthy and uses much of that wealth for charitable causes. Three years later, Isobel is fed up with her husband's antics. In the interim, the Duke has taken her under his wing, teaching her how to ride a horse, shoot a gun and other activities. She has also become BFF with Clarissa Bell, daughter of the Duke's solicitor, and childhood friend of Winter and Oliver. Together the two of them have taken the publishing world by storm, writing "Dearest Friends letters" penned by the Daring Lady Darcy, making them fairly wealthy themselves. So, the Duke, Isobel and Clarissa head for London for the season, shocking her husband, who refused to allow himself to love her, but also has not been able to get her out of his head these last three years. Isobel is no longer the innocent she was three years ago, and now she will get her husband up to snuff using whatever techniques that takes.

The author writes a tantalizing, convoluted tale, with wonderfully complex characters, both villains and heroes. The banter is lively, though often anachronistic. I do recommend reading book 2 first, though. I was also confused about the social status of Clarissa, as she attended balls and other social events with Isobel, but her father is a lawyer, not part of the ton.

Seemed very similar to Bridgerton in the plot line but trying to have the big disagreement between the Duke and his son more a misunderstanding.

Who doesn’t love a rake? A rip roaring read which I enjoyed. Thank you to the publishers and Netgalley for letting me review this book.

A thoroughly enjoyable read featuring vibrant, colorful characters and some scorching sex scenes. Much of the dialogue -- especially between lead heroine Isobel and her BFF/outrageous co-author Clarissa -- is surprisingly hysterical for a historical romance, and there are some strong feminist themes woven throughout. The second half of the story *does* get a little outrageous/florid, but as a whole this is a satisfying outing that's made me want to track down Howard's other offerings/anticipate her next story.

I want the Rakehell of Roth! What a fun and romantic novel about two people who typically wouldn't have been placed together but make so much sense. A great book to keep on you this summer if you are heading on a trip or laying out enjoying the sun. Worth getting! It will stay in your collection. #NetGalley

This is the second book in the Regency Rogues series, but they can definitely be read as standalone books. I read the first book, The Beast of Beswick, back in 2019 and I loved it. Book 2 is just as amazing and I don’t think I can pick a favorite out of the two!

The book is a saucy and steamy story with a combo of the marriage of convenience and marriage in trouble tropes. I was sucked into the story immediately by the chemistry between Isobel and Winter, but then Winter leaves Isobel behind after they consummate their marriage and three years passes! Like what?!

Isobel finally decides to take charge and chase the life she wants by going to be with her husband, whether he likes it or not. This made Isobel such an interesting character. I loved her and I wanted to be her. What woman doesn’t want to bring the man she loves to his knees!? The sparks between Isobel and Winter sizzle and this is the kind of book that will light your fire!

Overall, this was such a fun and entertaining book to escape into and is perfect for fans of historical romances with a lot of steam and for fans of Julia Quinn. I can’t wait for the next book!

I absolutely enjoyed this book from start to finish. Isobel band Winter are great characters and you will find your self cheering for both of them. Winter is determined not to have anything to do with his wife but Isobel has other plans. Very fun and entertaining read..
