This was a fantastic book I devoured over the course of a single day. I'd love to spend more time in this universe, either with these characters or new ones.

I received an advanced copy of this book from the publisher through netgalley in exchange for an honest review. This book is well written and the characters are described well. I really enjoyed Blue and Rin's characters. It is fast paced and it keeps your attention from the first page. This book is a fun reading experience. TRIGGER WARNING ABDUCTION. I definitely plan to read more books by this author in the future. I highly highly recommend this book to anyone and everyone. This ebook is in stores for $4.99 (USD).

thought this was a fun read, the characters were what I wanted them to be and I loved the fantasy elements. It was a great start to the series.

I do love faerie stories - and modernised retellings and adaptations are always interesting to read. This book has a variety of fae but mostly focuses on Blue, a kelpie, and his relationship with the human boy, Rin. Blue's form varies between human, semi-human, semi-horse, and horse - but is mostly nearer to human. The scene is set by Rin in a journal entry, where he describes his childhood, the accident that injured him so badly he could no longer ride horses, and the downfall of his mother's business. He also talks of how he met Blue - but the book itself is written quite some time after their meeting, and their relationship is already very much established. Blue actually lives with Rin and his mother, who are fully aware of his fae nature and extremely accepting.
Much of the book is set in the ordinary human realm, with the three main characters struggling to keep the business afloat. As Blue is the only 'horse' that Rin is able to ride, they decide to enter a race to earn some money (and publicity). And while they're preparing for this, Jim comes along. He's another kind of faerie, and he's looking for Blue.
And to top it all off, Rin's mother is kidnapped soon after the big race. This demands a rescue mission, wherein Rin and Blue venture Underhill, to the faerie realm.
This sounds like a very epic fantasy adventure - and it is. But the actual adventure Underhill is a rather small proportion of the book. A much more prominent theme is Blue and Rin's relationship, which becomes increasingly sexually explicit.
There's also some mystery around Rin's father, who he never met. His mother admits to him having some kind of magical heritage, which brings a lot of questions to Rin's mind.
I enjoyed the Underhill journey, but it was disappointingly short. The general relationship between Rin and Blue was rather interesting, but I wasn't keen on all the sexual scenes, honestly. I didn't really feel that they were all that necessary. I actually really liked the kind of day-to-day narrative with Blue; if you've ever wondered what life would be like if you were living with a blue faerie, this book should give you some insight. Overall, I definitely did enjoy this. But it wasn't quite what I expected, and it didn't particularly resonate with me personally or emotionally. 3.5 stars.

An interesting twist on a typical "save the farm" type narrative. There's a bit more supernatural interference than I was expecting, honestly. A little more of a hard-work with a bit of supernatural help instead of a the supernatural steps in and makes it all better type story would have been more to my liking but it's an enjoyable read all the same.

Kelpie Blue is so much more than its description might lead readers to believe. I’ve been a fan of Mell Eight’s since I discovered the re-release of her Supernatural Consultant series. When I found this one, I knew I had to read it. Although it doesn’t have the same “feel” as the stories about the young dragons I’ve come to adore, that’s not a bad thing – and I definitely wasn’t disappointed.

I really liked the relationship between Rin and Blue. I also liked the relationship between Rin and his mom. They gave Blue a family – something he hadn’t had in a long time.

There was a bit of mystery, danger, magic, a sweet romance and more than a few surprises. Pretty much everything I enjoy in a fantasy. The next book in the series is If a Butterfly Don’t Fly. Even though I’d love to spend more time with Rin and Blue, I’m looking forward to continuing the series.

DNF. I couldn’t connect with the characters and finally called it quits around 25% into the book. The only character I liked was Rin’s mom.

Welcome to this book review !
Disclaimer: I received an ARC of this book in exchange of an honest review. AND it in no way affects my review.

Now recently and always really I am in a mood to read romances with paranormal or in a fantasy/sci-fi setting. Also on another note always in the mood to find more of those and more amazing BDSM romances if anyone has some recommendations, it's hard to find some great LGBT ones.... !!

This book caught my eye by surprise, first of all the font of the cover was super pretty and it was written Kelpie on it which is rare in books. The description also said that it would contain fae's sooo right up my alley..

I enjoyed it, overall Blue and Rin were cute together, and I enjoyed their dynamic, the lore was nicely put and it felt like I was not being "info-dumped" on, which is always a plus. I liked that Rin was half-fae and not simply a human lured by a Kelpie. It was told in a different format sometimes, more as a journal than a typical novel, and in third person POV most of the time. While that was all fine and dandy, for the most part, because of the lack of direct connection to both our MC's I felt detached in a way I had not anticipated. I did not connect with them or the story as much as I would've wanted to. I however, really enjoyed Rin's mom !
Because it was journal like, I wouldn't have imagine the time skips to be an issue, but often I found myself wondering when chronologically this or that was happening and I felt like I was missing some of the motivation and reasoning behind things that happened. It felt like bits and pieces where missing between scenes, what happened during those years, weeks, etc. , we skipped ???
Also while Rin is the main POV of the story I found myself wondering how, when it was in the journal, Rin knew what Blue was thinking ? I would've preferred a dual POV or for conversations to happen.

In the end I really enjoyed the author's writing and found myself rooting for the cuteness of the story, Do not let the cover fool you it is not a dark book by any mean. I also loved the time when they had, because of the plot, to go into the fae world of Underhill, I would've liked more of that world building and discovery to have been included in the book. While this is the first book of a series, I would've enjoyed if the author could've left us with less unanswered questions at the end of it.

In the end, a nice read.
