loved the use of medusa and greek mythology, the story was really well done. I enjoyed getting to know the characters and enjoyed this as a third entry.
When Medusa wakes up from one of her sleeps and finds she’s a beautiful woman again instead of a hideous monster, can she learn to forgive the Gods? Can a gorgon fall in love with a gargoyle?
I received a complimentary copy of this book from NetGalley. The opinions expressed in this review are completely my own
I didn't enjoy this book tbh. I didn't really read the first two books in this series nor did I care to read. This book was making my head explode with all the stuff that's going on. So obviously I skimmed a lot. The only thing I liked about this book was the attraction and relationship between Medusa and Oliver. It was cute! And at the end, I felt bad for Medusa when the gods were arguing about who's gonna kill her. And I hated the way Athena was behaving and what she did to Medusa. Ugh! But then, felt like like the main reason we all read this book was nothing but just a stupid big fuss. I was disappointed. Argh! It was like after reading the whole fucking book the author said 'April fool' and was laughing at me for even reading the book. Gah!
Well here we have the end. this was an enjoyable series. Some parts didn't do much for me but it was a nice modern take on the Gorgons. I liked how each book was one of the sisters but the overall story was to get Medusa back. This one was Medusa's book. I liked the fact that she wasn't happy to be back to human. I also liked the fact that after everything she found her love. The battles were good and the other creatures were true to Greek Myths which was nice.
When an ancient crature wakes up in modern times, freed from her curse but entangled in a prophecy, an interesting mix between modern life and ancient gods is part of the ordinary life. Cornered between revenge and love, the third and most famous gorgon Medusa decides her fate.
Gorgon's Release by Claire Davon is an exciting novel with just the right touch of romance included. I love the Greek Mythology and the twist to the stories that are incorporated in while still keeping some stories the same. This is a great novel I just am not too sure how much it is right for more adult audiences other than the romance lustful bits included that are not intended for children. Much of the rest of the book did get rather boorish for me as there was not much emotion involved other than sexual desire.
I wish I could say I enjoyed this more than I did. I don’t have too much in the way of specific issues, this book just wasn’t for me. The premise was interesting and I’d like to read more from the author in case others strike my fancy a bit more.
This was a delicious retelling of Medusa's story. I loved the twists and the different characters. The pantheons of the different gods made it all the nore interesting. I especially appreciate Claire Davon's writing if Medusa's side of the story. It brings new appreciation for Medusa's ordeal and a reason for her behavior towards men.
The characters were also diverse and I enjoyed reading about Mercury and his counterpart as it is very rare to see both Greek and Roman sides of the same for together and not in their home regions.
A captivating read!
This one just wasn’t for me. I typically love mythology retellings, but the character development felt flat here, and the language was slightly too formal throughout for it to be engaging. I had to push to finish it. Such a bummer because I usually really enjoy Claire’s books!
This book wasn’t a bad book, but it just didn’t catch my interest. The point of view switched so often it was hard for me to really get into either of the main characters. The characters also seemed a little flat. They had a sufficient back story, but I didn’t feel myself really becoming emotionally involved with either of them. It just wasn’t for me, which was a bummer because I loved the cover and the summary seemed interesting. It’s possible it got better halfway through, but it didn’t hold me long enough to find out.
