I am thankful for having the opportunity to read this book. It was a beautiful story about two broken people who found each other and helped each other heal. While I've read a lot of books with characters who were grieving after a loss, this was the first book that I've read where I can remember a character battling with agoraphobia. It was interesting and sweet!

A lovely read but it went on a little too long and was too unbelievable for me. A well written and developed story with a cast of interesting characters.

Everyone wants that last chance to say goodbye to someone we love, someone we lost too soon, someone who just deserved to know how much you cared about them.

This is a beautiful story about trauma and grief. It comes in different forms for each character and as we are learning their backgrounds and plot twists along the way.

Happen chance phone calls turning into venting sessions, then texts, photos, and meet ups gone wrong.

As a person who experienced yet another kind of grief, the loss of a parent, I understood the inner turmoil these characters faced. There is so much that goes on you can’t share with your loved ones. It’s hard and sometimes you just have to talk to someone who actually understands and doesn’t just say what they think you want to hear. I really appreciated this story and how it helped me with my own personal grief as well. It was done with a little romance, but not too much as to take away from the story of their own grief journies.

I've been avoiding reading this book since it published, not because I didn't want to read it, but because I had been dealing with the grief of losing my mother. I am incredibly glad that I waited to read this book when I was mentally ready, because it gave me the ability to appreciate just how beautiful and raw this story is.

Two years after the sudden death of her husband, Anna still struggles handling her grief. Despite her family and friends telling her to move on, she cannot bring herself to let go of the memory of her late husband. So when Anna calls her husband's number to hear his voicemail recording, but a man answers instead, Anna's world is rocked. But after the mysterious man and Anna take up a phone call friendship, Anna starts finding the strength to begin to heal and move on.

The Last Goodbye is an incredible book. It accurately explores the grief and regret people feel after their loved ones pass. Mental health is at the center of the story and is pivotal in both main character's journeys. Therapy and seeking help is championed throughout as well.

It's hard for me to pick a favorite character, because I fell in love with both Anna and Brody's stories. Each have equally heartbreaking backstories and I loved how the book was set up, where we get to know Anna's POV for an extended time, before jumping into Brody's POV.

Both characters are grieving incredibly different, yet they share the pain of losing a loved one. Their raw and emotional journeys show that grief is not one-size fits all. The heroes each had tons of growth throughout the story and the book proves that it's possible to move on, even when things feel insurmountable.

This book resonated deeply with me and I appreciated how honest and real The Last Goodbye felt. The story brought me to tears many times, but not out of sadness, but out of hope. I am glad I waited to read the book so I could fully appreciate its beautiful message.

The Last Goodbye is a story about the main character, Anna, and how she attempts to move on after the sudden death of her husband, Spencer. This is an emotional read and you really could feel Anna’s emotions and how she dealt with her in-laws, dating again, well meaning friends wanting to see her move on. It is a slow story but the characters are well developed and show growth. Thank you NetGalley for a copy of this book.

What a lovely story of second chance love! Both characters were flawed and had their issues to work through, but I felt the author took that slowly and I found myself rooting for Brody as he faced his past and learned to forgive himself and find love again. This book was really about the light at the end of a very dark road of life and the reader feels that, The ending was predictable, but how could it not be? I loved it!

Such a moving and beautiful story! Totally bawled while reading this one but it was so worth it! I loved the author's writing and the characters! Though the main theme is grief, this book deals with a lot more things as well and my review can't do it justice! Loved this one!

I loved the Last Goodbye by Fiona Lucas. Books about loss and love are my cup of tea and Lucas did a great job of entertaining grief with new found love and future potential hope.

Received this digital ARC via NetGalley. The summary seemed good and I loved the coloring of the cover. I assumed the book would have more cuteness factor like many chicklits with similar coverart. This book is a little heavier on the mental health and relationships after the death of a loved one. It was a good story but not a light one.

The Last Goodbye is an emotional story about losing someone you love, experiencing deep grief, and the struggle to move forward and continue your life. The book is about finding hope even when it feels impossible, and summoning inner strength to overcome your grief. It is heavy subject matter, but Fiona Lucas presents us with a tale that is hard to put down. I really connected with the characters and wanted to stick with them to see how things turned out!

This book is hard to read - there are a ton of CWs so make sure you are aware before diving in (loss of a loved one, death, panic attacks, etc.). Overall I enjoyed this book - it definitely is in the women's fiction genre.

After Anna's husband Spencer dies, she is listless. Years pass and she is stuck. Until one night she calls Spencer's number and a man picks up. Anna and Brody continue to talk to each other, using the other as a shoulder to cry on, a support system, someone to vent to. Their relationship slowly blossoms all without them meeting in person.

This is a deeply sad book but it is also about hope and growth. It is about friendship and trying new things. But it is truly sad. I think I wasn't super in the mood for a sad book but I enjoyed it. I recommend for anyone who likes their romance with serious issues like dealing with grief.

Thank you to William Morrow and NetGalley for my copy to review.

This is a wonderful book where two people are brought together via a phone call. Each of them have something from their past that they carry and has changed how they interact with the world. Will they be able to help each other find joy again? I loved the way the author shared scenes of general everyday life. Being a debut novel, it was fun reading a new author which I will now start looking out for in the stores.

The Last Goodbye is a very poignant story about love and loss and loving again; the risks we take to move on and put ourselves out there.

"I beg your pardon" - what a great way to pivot a story. I really enjoyed this book! I appreciated the two points of view and that allowed us to get to know Anna and Brody better. I thought all of the characters had such depth, including Anna's mother-in-law. And I loved Anna's best friend, Gaby. I also enjoyed the developing relationship between Anna and her sister-in-law. I feel we all have interesting family dynamics with our in-laws and the author did a good job of portraying that.

I was also fortunate enough to get an audio copy of this novel and thought the narration was excellent.
Thank you to NetGalley and William Morrow for this advanced digital copy.

This was a cute heart-warming story that follows Anna as she learns to move on from her husband’s death. Some parts were predictable, but overall a really sweet book.

This book is full of grief, but also full of hope. It tackles some pretty tough subjects of grief and agoraphobia. But the bottom line is about people helping each other with what they need when they need it. And you have to love how Anna and Brody do that for each other.

The Last Goodbye is a beautiful story of over overcoming grief and learning to live again. I enjoyed both the characters Brody and Anna. Both on their own journey of grief but finding support and confidence in one another via their phone calls.

The Last Goodbye is another one of those hidden gems that I found on Netgalley. I'm so glad I decided to request it based on the synopsis. This is a story of tragedy and grief but it is also a story of healing and growth. I was invested in watching Anna and Brody grow together and how they show that there is no proper way to grieve and heal. The emotional progress and ultimate ending was so very worth while for me as a reader.

The new person who Anna begins talking to is named Brody and has experienced some sort of loss of his own. He is not very open about the loss at first but, is supportive of Anna and what she is experiencing. He becomes this strong voice of reason for her even though they have never physically met. Their phone calls go from periodically to almost daily to through out their day. It was a slow burn friendship that took its time to evolve into the potential for something more. It had really good pacing and felt believable to me as a reader.

The characters of Anna and Brody also felt so well developed to me. Anna is still trying to understand the tragedy of her husband's death. She's hurting. She's angry. She feels like she is being pushed away and unable to move forward. I felt her emotions. I felt what she was going through especially when it comes to trying to process her grief and to her relationship with her in-laws. Brody was also a very emotional character. His emotions come from a different place as his tragedy was several years ago but, it still felt every bit as real. As a reader, I could tell how closed off he is, and how this new friendship with Anna forces him to grow and also finally work through his own grief. He starts taking the steps and the finds the professional help that he needs to deal with his trauma and move forward. I really liked how the mental health aspect of this story was handled.

Fiona Lucas does a wonderful job with the grief of this story as well. It has a value throughout the story. It grows and changes as the characters grow and change. It was heart-wrenching but there were also some lighter moments with the use of Brody's dog, Lewis and Anna's best friend, Gabi. I will warn the readers that there are some triggering moment for some as this is a story that involves tragedy and grief. I don't want to give too much away as these aspects as so important to the story but, they are there and I felt them too.

This is a wonderful story. No mysteries, no surprises, just wonderful reading. You fall in love with the main character, Anna, and identify with her. You see her character grow and strengthen and fine romance in one of the most unusual ways. A delightful read that captures your imagination.

Thank you NetGalley for the ARC of "The Last Goodbye". 4 Stars for this sweet, sweet book. Anna was happily married to Spencer when one fateful night she asked him to run to the grocery for milk and he is hit and killed by a drunk driver. Anna goes through all of the emotions of a grieving widow. Her best friend is diligently by her side, keeping Anna afloat through the sadness and being her back bone. Three years after Spencer's death, and on New Year's Eve, Anna calls Spencer's cell phone number just to hear his voice. She is surprised when someone answers. She continuously calls the number at her darkest moments and strikes up a friendship with man with the new number, Brody. Through these late night conversations, Brody and Anna learn to lean on each other, learn to laugh, and eventually live again. Brody is holding on to one small secret that could destroy the relationship.

This book is about healing, facing emotions, letting go of guilt and learning to live again after tragedy. It's a very heartwarming read and I recommend it to everyone who loves women's fiction. I really enjoyed the characters, especially Anna's best friend Gabby.

Oh this book! Have tissues ready when you read it. You will go through all the emotions. Trigger Warning: Death of a spouse and child are in this book. With that said, the growth and journey the characters go on is worth the effort. This is a book that will stay with you after you finish it.
