An interesting biography of the authors life growing up in the 1960's and 1970's rural America. The author has some very interesting experiences in her life, some good and some really bad,
I found the the way the book is written is very simple, almost as though the intended readership is in their teens but the subject matter does not suggest that.
I found the references to spirituality interesting with some of her experiences eye opening, although later in the book about three quarters the way through the book tends to change direction and becomes quite heavy in a religious context, at times it feels as though the reader is being preached to.

Very interesting I, however, could not get into the story personally! I found the story a little too dark for my taste.

- The whole story gave off a dark atmosphere which was good.
- The topics were dark but handled very well.
