This whole book was a damn mess from start to finish. Did not care for the characters. Premise made this seem more intriguing than it was. Do not waste your time. Cannot recommend this.
I do thank Netgalley, Elle Vaughn and Elle Vaughn publishing for an ARC in exchange for an honest review.

A little bit predictable and the characters fell a little flat for me. I liked the premise of the book and would try the author again but I had a hard time being interested the whole way through.
I'm a sucker for a good enemies-to-lovers and office romance tropes in my romance books, but for some reason, this book sadly just didn't not work out for me. There were many angsty and angry moments in the story (even bordering on a tad bit excessive), It was both fun and frustrating to read Penny and Elliot's interactions, even with Elliot being a huge jerk from the start. I wasn't also a big fan of the cheating incidents here, especially since it involved breaking up marriages which aren't my cup of tea.
The ending could have been done a little bit better, since I found it lackluster. It could have been tied up a bit nicer to get a more well-rounded story ending.

This story was an incredible one. A huge amount of fun. There was a lot of emotion, pain, and everything as represented so well. While I didn’t like the hero in the starting, his life story and his progression throughout the novel made me appreciate him. I liked the heroine a lot. She was strong, capable, and incredibly resistant. She was smart, reliable, and a great person altogether. I haven’t read any of the author’s past works but this one really makes me want to pick up one of the books. The characters were amazingly written. They had layers and had complexity. An incredible story altogether.

If you like fake dating enemies to lovers then give this a try. It has LJ Shen the hunter vibes as our main set up has a playboy in bed with another woman than meeting the love interest and proposing fake dating so he doesn't get into trouble.
Short, steamy and perfect. This book hit all three in quick order. It was an easy to read and very entertaining book. I could not put it down.
This book read more like a teen novel than an adult one. I think I would've enjoyed this better if the characters were younger and it made sense in the way they were talking. I was able to finish this book fast, so I will say it's an easy read. It's the typical from enemies to lover trope but I did like all the little details that made it different from ones I've read before. Penny comes from nothing and Elliot has had his life handed to him, it was nice to see Elliot slowly realize how good he actually had it throughout the novel. Penny's love for her brother Tim is probably what kept me going. It was a heartfelt easy read, but I could not get into the writing style and the way they would speak.
I received a complimentary copy of The Breakup Plan in exchange for an honest review. I loved this story and everything about the characters because they weren't perfect.. The characters both came with some baggage, and had some immaturity issues. However, this is real life, and not everything comes in a perfect little box with a bow on it. if you're easily offended or can't handle real life issues, then this might not be a good fit.
I was a little disappointed with the cliffhanger ending. I'm sure there will be another novel to follow, but as a reader, I like to know about this in advance.
The idea of this story was good. I did not like the way it was carried out. There was many things I didnt like about the book. Cheating is a big one.
I've had a look at some of the reviews for this book and it's clear that not everyone loves it. Elliot and Penny are both difficult characters in their own way. They have issues, they have a past and, in Elliot's case at least, he's a bit of a bastard. That said, I actually quite like characters that are challenging and that is one of the reasons that I really enjoyed this book.
Elliot is pretty horrible when we first meet him. But that isn't all that he is, as he and Penny learn more about each other he begins to come into his own and a nicer side to him comes out. I'm not entirely sure that someone can completely change who they are, but this is a book and for the purpose of the story it works.
There is a lot for Elliot and Penny to face together. What did disappoint me about this book a little was that it wasn't until around the last chapter that I realise that we weren't about to get a conclusion of any kind. This is the first book with, I assume, at least one more to come. I prefer to know when we're going to be left waiting. That said, this isn't a complete cliffhanger and although I'm keen to know what next, I'm not left tearing my hair out.
I really enjoyed this gripping romance. It might not be for everyone, but if you enjoy reads that feature characters that might be a little less than perfect, then I think you might just want to give this one a go.
I received a complimentary copy of this book through NetGalley. Opinions expressed in this review are completely my own.
Thank you to Netgalley and the author for a copy of this book for an honest review. Penelope (Penny) has had a rough life, she grew up in a mobile home park to a mother who drinks a lot and doesn't know who Penny's father is. Penny has a little brother Timmy who she wants to save from that life. Penny takes an internship at a company working with Elliott. From the beginning you can tell both of these characters need rescuing. Elliot is having an affair with a married woman and is intrigued by his new intern. There were some points of this book that bordered on plain out ridiculous. Like I wished Michael would have convinced Penny that Elliott is a good guy.....and someone secretly taping Penny getting assaulted by her step father - (I would have hit him with a rock too!) oh well I defiantly will be reading more from this author!
I really loved this book. It was a real page turner, with uncertainty and a hate to love type of vibe.
I love how this book starts off with Penny and Elliot hating each other. Penny having no time for jerks like Elliot, and Elliot who is not getting the reaction he’s used to by women.
I loved Pennys personality, she seems like the most amazing person who’d do anything to get custody of her brother, and make sure he doesn’t live a bad life.. like she did.
Elliot is the classic jerk. He thinks he’s the best of the best and the most handsome of them all.
I will definitely read the next book! Interesting twists and turns kept the book entertaining.
What is it that I just read? This book was all over the place. And it ends extremely abruptly. I guess there is a second book because it leaves things totally up in the air. Thank you to netgalley for the arc.
Elliot is a super entitled jerk with a tortured past. Penny is the girl from the wrong side of town struggling to be better. When they meet its instant dislike, but they soon realize how much they need each other to reach their own goals, falling for each other along the way. Elliot starts out as one of the worst male leads that I’ve read about in a while and I must admit I didn’t think he would ever redeem himself, but his true depths do show by the end, so stick with it. Also the ending was a bit wild (and more than a bit unrealistic) but there is a HEA. 3.9 stars. I received an arc copy of this book from NetGalley and the publisher for my honest review.
Interesting story that held my attention. I didn’t know it was the first book in an unfinished series, so there are some lose ends left at the end.
It starts as a pretty typical enemies to lovers, but the last third adds in some excitement that my anxiety wasn’t expecting. Overall a quick, enjoyable read.
A good enemies to lovers book, which has 2 strong characters and lots of action. It did feel as though there was a chapter missing as it leaves unanswered questions, but maybe that’s so you will read a follow on book.
A super quick read, it was definitely an interesting romance dynamic. This is one of the few books where I’ve ever preferred the male character to the female character in a romance so I really appreciated that. Perfect to read for Valentine’s Day!
Thanks to Netgalley for this read. I just don' t know what to say about this book. I love the theme of this book, but I just do not really do not like the turns in this book.
This has a lot of bad language. And we just do not get what will Penny do with her life. Okay, so she went to school and then just after two days she quits. What?! And how she doesn't feel wrong for sleeping with him and taking his money.... We all know who does this...
And him, he wants Beth then he doesn't...
And he is changed man... No.
This was just 3 stars read for me.
I am addicted to fake relationship these books are insta click for me , coming to this the start was so good no insta lust no insta love , clever sassy banter between the h & H . He has a relationship with OW I was expecting more with these premises and the sassy h .
Then drama comes a lot of drama too much drama qnd I confess I skipped and skimmed
So it’s like at school this has potential but you could have done better because you have the right skills
Next?
3 stars for the stellar reaction she has to the ugly figure he does and the tentative to repair go girl

Firstly, thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for allowing me to read a copy of The Breakup Plan by Elle Vaughn in exchange for an honest review.
The Breakup Plan follows Penny and Elliot, as they take their relationship from boss/intern to many different levels. Elliot is a business mogel who has just become popular with the media, and Penny is a determined woman doing whatever she can to get custody of her younger brother, having grown up in a difficult situation and family.
I am so conflicted about this book. I liked the idea of the story, but I didn't enjoy the execution. There was a great deal of excessive swearing, an uncomfortable about of moaning/groaning and quite a few conflicting sentences (eg. Beth isn't the relationship type, but then all of a sudden is eager for a relationship post-divorce). I was initially put off by the main character Elliot and his approach to women (to the point where I wasn't sure I wanted to continue), but that did improve as the book progressed. Another negative for me was the focus on affairs and sleeping with married women.
Elliot seems to have more moodswings than a teenage girl, but he and Penny make an excellent team. Penny is a strong protagonist and I think Ellen Vaughn has done a fantastic job writing about the complexities of Penny's home life.
I love a good enemies to lovers book, and this book delivered. With that being said, it felt as though it was left unfinished and I wasn't particularly enthused with the ending. I assume the ending was in preparation for another book, however it was so unsatisfying that I was left wondering whether my copy was missing a couple of pages.
Overall an alright book.
