***THANK YOU TO The Author FOR MY ADVANCED REVIEW COPY. ALL OPINIONS AND THOUGHTS ARE MY OWN***
This was a solid start to a new series by Kerry Lonsdale. I will say that it did take me a while to get into the flow of the story in the beginning. I felt there were too many characters and names introduced in a short period of time that led to confusion on who was who. And the information that unfolded didn’t seem to connect the pieces of the story at first glance. But once I developed trust that all scenes had a purpose and no conversation was wasted (or forgotten), I was committed to the story and I thoroughly enjoyed the ride. It was a nice family thriller that had you guessing until the end. I can’t wait to uncover more of the mystery in the books to come!
A new book from Kerry Lonsdale is one I always look forward to and this one, the start of a trilogy will keep me anxiously wanting the next one. The lives of Olivia, Josh and Lily are heart wrenching. There are deep secrets and a loss of a sibling with no idea of why she left or how. Suspense builds quickly with the sudden appearance of Josh, a 13 year old who struggles with aphasia. He can't communicate where he came from or how he happened to be dropped off at Olivia's doorstep. This book is full of family drama and some teen romance with alternating chapters going back into history. At times it was a bit too complicated with details that seemed hard to connect, however this was a wonderful story that is fine as a stand alone but leaves one wanting the next book.
Kerry Lonsdale brings another hit twisting mystery laced with family drama and a mysterious brain injury in the first of her latest series. I was engrossed once more in a family full of secrets and their actions, and I was quite sad when the book ended, setting up book #2 in the series to be just as exciting. I typically do not read much in way of “mysteries”, but Lonsdale’s novels to me read more like dramatic page turners, full of twists and deep characters. It feels like she is creating her own genre, and I am here for it!
This is definitely one novel you will not want to miss!
It has a slow build and then--- all of a sudden I was on a "coaster" and heading rapidly for the "hair- pin turn"!
The chapters are woven in a way that explains why and how Olivia, Lucas and Lily are torn apart as children when tragedy and horrible secrets are hidden.
Now, as adult siblings, all they each want is to reconnect and to find out what is truly the truth!
Like it or not!
It is a journey that will have you reading quickly to reveal the skeletons that begin to roll out for this family!
Well done!!
Wow! Just wow! Really, that's all I need to say about the newest book by Kerry Lonsdale. I tried to savor it and read it slowly but the characters and riveting storyline gripped me and I couldn't put the book down. From the moment Josh showed up on his estranged Aunt Olivia's street, I needed to find out how he found her. The mysteries grow beyond that though and so many layers and secrets of the Carson family unravel as the story unfolds. Everything that Olivia thought she knew about her family and herself is wrong. Although Josh is unable to communicate well with words, he can draw what he remembers in great detail. Olivia is able to piece her family's truth together through Josh's art and some sleuthing.
This is a tremendous book with an awesome storyline. I love the flashbacks and the insight into the childhoods of the Carsons and the Whitmans. I cannot wait to learn even more about the Carson family and their secrets. Completely captivating! Five stars!
A domestic family drama with tons of action and characters with multiple issues, this book was one that was hard to put down. Olivia has relationship issues in that she doesn’t really know what she wants, but she knows that she really needs a relationship. When the story begins, she is livid with Blaze, her lover, and is kicking him out of her house. The emotions are stormy throughout the book, but no scenes were more tumultuous than this one. We also have Charlotte, the mom who is a successful real estate agent, but not so great at being a mother or a wife. Dwight, her venture capitalist husband who always wanted to be elected to office, is a people pleaser who will do anything to obtain his goal. I think the most flawed and probably least developed character was Lucas. I didn’t learn much about him except that he went to juvie, he was a hot mess and he had a hot temper. That was enough to set the stage for a lot of action in the book! Finally, there is the duo of Lily and Josh. Lily is the baby sister of Olivia and Lucas, and she left home as a pregnant teen. Josh is the result of her pregnancy. For years, Olivia has tried to find Lily, only to have Josh show up one day on doorsteps, with a duffle, no explanation and no words because he can’t speak. That’s mostly what this book is about, a characterization, a painting, if you will, of a family that has so many problems that it was a like a soap opera in print. The plot was well-written, but it definitely took back stage to the characters. I was mesmerized by the whole mystery of Lily and why she left home without getting in contact with anyone. I was captured by the death on the beach that Olivia’s family may or may not have been involved in. Ultimately, the entire book was a wild ride that had me captivated because of its riveting themes of family secrets, deception, and even murder. I loved this book and was so sad when it ended, so I am already looking forward to book #2 in this new series. Fans of domestic drama, mystery and even romance will be delighted to read this book!

This book was one that I could not put down. I am absolutely in love. The plot grabs you and pulls you in. Kerry is an excellent writer and easy to read. She makes you feel that you are part of the story and makes it so hard to put the book down!! I am blessed to have read all of her words and truly have never been disappointed. So thankful to have read No More Words. It is a must read!
I wanted to love this as I am a fan of the author's Everything series, but I felt this book had too many characger which made it confusing and I also did not like that this story, like the Everything series and Last Summer, also contained a memory loss plot.
After reading one of Kerry Lonsdale’s books, I then read all that she had written to that point. Now, I definitely read her books as soon as a new one is released. She is an excellent writer. I am drawn into her stories immediately and never want to put the books down until I am finished.
Her new book, No More Words, is another gem! It centers around a dysfunctional family that appears to be ideal to those viewing them from the outside. The huge house, private schools and rich friends would seem to make their lives wonderful, but that definitely is not the case.
As the story unfolds, the reader dives deeper into the history of the family and where they are in current time. It is heartbreaking to read at times. I felt so many emotions and was so invested in finding out the conclusion to this book, knowing there are 2 more to come to actually complete this story.
I absolutely recommend picking up this book! I cannot wait for the next one to continue reading this series!
I want to thank NetGalley and Lake Union Publishing for giving me the opportunity to read the advance reader copy, with no obligation to write a review. My review is written freely as a hobby, and is totally my own opinion, not influenced by receiving the ARC.
So happy to have been offered an Advanced Reader Copy (ARC) for this book. Since Kerry Lonsdale's first "Everything" series, I have been eagerly awaiting each new release, and this one did not disappoint. I love how she is able to weave contemporary themes and locations into a compelling story that is both a mystery and a love story. Can't wait for books 2 and 3 in this new trilogy series!
This had a great mix of mystery, family drama, and suspense. It kept me turning the pages and invested in the story. It did seem to have a lot of different things going on. I enjoyed getting to know the characters. It was frustrating in the beginning, trying to solve the mystery of Lily with the lack of communication. The ending left some openings for the next book but was still satisfying in the end.
I was lucky to receive an advanced copy of this amazing book in exchange for my honest opinion. I have been a fan of Kerry Lonsdale for many years so I was thrilled to read this book before it is published on 6July2021. This is the first in a three part series about a family with troubles in their past that left them a broken family. Even today they struggle with secrets.
The siblings, Olivia, Lily, and Lucas were a trio growing up. Olivia always protected Lily from their father, who never treated her well. Then Lilly runs away from home after telling her parents she is pregnant and is still missing. Then Josh, her son, appears on Olivia’s doorstep. Olivia immediately wants to find Lily. Josh knows what happened but has trouble talking. The pair set off on a journey to find Lily that will uncover more family secrets.
The title could not be more perfect for this book. It represents Josh and his trouble speaking and how he has to come up with different ways to communicate. It also represents the feeling you have when you uncover secrets you can’t believe. You have no words.
I enjoyed reading this book and can tell it will be a great series. A lot of characters were introduced in this book that I can see playing a bigger part in future books. The ending is wonderful but leaves many open questions. This makes sense because there are two more books to enjoy! The author included a sneak peak into the second book and it makes me so excited for Summer 2022, when it is released. In the meantime I can enjoy this book!
I am so thrilled this is a trilogy! I loved all the feels in this story, you get intrigue, romance and a bit of drama. I was able to sit and read the whole book in a day which was so nice because I couldn’t find a good stopping point. I can’t wait to see where book 2 & 3 will take us
This was a unique, and interesting, story! While most things were tidied up at the end, there were still many questions, most likely to be answered in the next book of this series. I rated down a star because there was A LOT happening here, and the back and forth between times, was a bit much.
NO MORE WORDS is the stunning first book in the No More series by Kerry Lonsdale. This book has everything a reader could hope for: family drama, romance, suspense and mystery. It is about three siblings, Olivia, Lucas and Lily Carson that have been torn apart by devastating secrets and tragic events from the past. The story begins in 1995 when the three siblings are dropped off for the summer at the lake home of their parents’ family friends, the Whitmans. For the next few summers, the children from both families spend all their time together, growing closer every year. But one summer, all the good times come to an end when the Carson children are sent home and never invited again. Many years later the Carson siblings are no longer close. At age sixteen, a pregnant Lily ran away from home and never returned. Olivia only knows she is alive because Lily sends a photo of her son Josh every year. Lucas has spent time in prison and leads a troubled life. Olivia is now a famous illustrator of graphic novels, but mainly keeps to herself. One day, thirteen-year-old Josh shows up on Olivia’s doorstep. He is frightened and alone and barely able to communicate. When he can’t tell Olivia what happened to her sister and why they were separated, Olivia embarks on a mission to find her sister and help her if she is in danger. Her quest reveals long-buried secrets and shocking betrayals from the past that have her questioning everything she once thought true. I couldn’t put down this page-turning read! It is a compelling story of love, family and forgiveness and I can’t wait to read the second book, NO MORE LIES when it is available. Thank you the author, Publisher and NetGalley for the chance to read an early copy of NO MORE WORDS.
In No More Words, the 1st in the No More series, we meet Olivia Carson. Olivia is the eldest of the Carson children. We are introduced to her via flashbacks to summer holidays by the lakes and the present day.
The Carson family has many secrets and as these secrets are exposed we are taken on a journey filled with suspense, drama and a little romance.
14 years ago Olivia’s youngest sister disappeared as a pregnant 16 year old, and one day Olivia’s nephew Josh suddenly appears at Olivia’s house. His mum is missing, he has a head injury and is unable to talk properly to explain. Where is Lily, Are they in danger? What other secrets are this family hiding?
As the story evolves the secrets are exposed. Looking forward to reading the next book and hearing Lily’s story
What a great read!!! It will definitely keep you guessing all the way to the end. And then some ;) you will not be disappointed with this one!!
What do I say about no more words? Wot it was such a great book When you think you got it Kerry goes and throws another curve ball. But I must say that Olivia was left in the dark she feels for way to long. Until some setting events happen and it all makes since after she puts it all together. This book is book 1 in a 3 book series. I can't wait to see what happens next in this very thrilling series.
Another amazing book by the extremely talented Kerry Lonsdale! I have read every one of her books & they do not disappoint. No ‘ore Words is no exception, it kept me on the edge of my seat, wanting more. I couldn’t wait to figure out what was going to happen next. Kerry has such a way of making you fall in love with the characters & hoping for the best outcome for them all. I am so happy to have gotten to do an early read on this book & am looking forward to the next two books in the series.
Special thanks to the author, for allowing me to be part of her promotional team, and NetGalley, for providing a free ARC in exchange for an honest review.
Expected review date: July 6, 2021
Olivia’s youngest sister, Lily, ran away twelve years ago, and they haven’t been in contact since. When a young boy turns up on Olivia’s doorstep one day, he comes with only his name, “Josh”, and a note, giving Olivia power of attorney over Josh in the event of Lily’s disappearance. Due to Josh’s traumatic brain injury, he cannot provide Olivia with details about Lily- is she alive? How did he find her? What happened to Lily? Olivia is forced to use all of her resources to find out the truth and reunite Josh with Lily, if at all possible. Doing this uncovers old wounds and family secrets, both of which Olivia has spent years trying to bury.
“No More Words” is the beginning of a new series by author, Kerry Lonsdale. As with her other novels (I have been privileged to be given early copies of most of her other novels), “Words” is full of suspense, romance, intrigue and family drama.
The story is told in two time periods, mostly narrated by Olivia (although her brother Lucas makes an appearance in a few of the modern chapters), during the summer of her childhood and in present day. Right from the beginning, Olivia’s family seems a bit off (you just know there are skeletons in that closet!), and the speculation begins. The three siblings are close as children, then become slowly estranged over time, each battling their own demons. The realistic depiction of a dysfunctional sibling relationship is emotional and honest, and I sympathized with all three of the Carson siblings.
Lily’s son, Josh, has to be my favourite character. Lonsdale depicts his struggle with communication so accurately, it was heart-wrenching. I felt for Josh as he tried to speak the words that his mouth wouldn’t form. A resilient boy to say the least, he hitchhikes to an unknown aunt’s house, in the quest to find his missing mother.
Lonsdale’s writing is smart and creative, making each chapter as addictive and page-turning as the one before. Her characters are realistic, and the family dynamics are dysfunctional and honest. The ending has a nice, unexpected twist, as is typical with Lonsdale, and yet it still manages to seem believable. Of course, not everything is resolved (there are two more books forthcoming after all), but I definitely felt content and satisfied when I got to the last page! I look forward to the second novel in this series, and I really loved the teaser for book two that Lonsdale provided!
