I really can't believe that we are up to book number 11 in the Detectives Kane and Alton series! These are one of my very favourite police duos, but I have to say wild horses coudn't drag me to live in Black Rock Falls, Montana it sounds a stunningly beautiful place to live in but nonetheless it's still blinking dangerous.
As always it's great to catch up with Sheriff Alton, Kane, ME Wolfe, Rowley and the rest of the squad to top it off the dastardly duo Wells and Carter from the FBI came down to the fall festival and so were happy to muck in and out lol. There's a new member of the team for us to meet, Rio who like them all has his own unique ability which is integral to solving this murder. Let's not forget Deputy Jake Rowley and his wife Sandy who are all prepared for the big event (birth of their first child) and from the getgo I knew that Sandy would be playing a larger part in this instalment and my heart was in my mouth the whole time for that alone.
It felt strange to read about Black Rock Falls during the warmer times but #BeMIneForever lets us know that it still not a safe place, that the nutjobs to play there all year round. I guess the sheer size of the place gives them plenty room to play in, plenty of We find ourselvers meeting Sheriff Alton and Detective Kane on the run up to their fall festival which sounds far more fab than it should probably because it feels as if we won't be anything this year #Covid. There's a new Deputy in town and he goes with by the name of Rio but he just doesn't sit right with me, he watches Jenna and David like a hawk., I know that Wolfe recommended and trusts him but he makes me feel uneasy. When he questions Dave about some of the things he does, about some of his mannerisims and his blank face moments. I'm not sure why I don't like him but I think he could be instrumental in either Jennas Daves or even Wolfes cover being blown.
When teenage cheerleader Laurie Turner went missing after practice, it soon became apparent that her home life left something to be desired, her father was a man with what's known as little mans syndrome and a woman hater to boot. Sadly her body was found horrifically murdered, little did they know that it would be the start of yet another killing spree in Black Rock Falls. It seems whomever it was seemed to have a serious grudge with the cheerleader squad more specifically the prettier girls. Although when push comes to shove the murderer has no qualms about dealing with whatever needs done and who ever needs dealt with. It's not going to be easy to catch he/she or even them as they appear to be forensically smarter than the average bear. There's an unusual element to the murders (absolutely no spoilers here) a more sleazy element one which I found strange in teenagers but obviously these proclivities have to start somewhere.
#BeMineForever is yet another instalment in a cracking police procedural and it's one of the few American authors that I read at the moment. I personally think these are better read in the correct order, there's a wealth of information about the characters and previous cases. If you haven't read this author you really are missing out on a cracker of a series.
Read an ARC for an honest review all thoughts are my own. Thank you to Ms D. K. Hood, #Netgalley @Bookouture
Addicted! Addicted to this series. Treat yourself! Buy the book, or go to your library. Creepy,. psychotic and they are teenagers! I kept waffling on the killers which is an added bonus for me! I love a book that has me second guessing and making sure my toes don't peak put from the blanket! Twists and sub plots in this one, I was so glad when justice prevailed on one! Heart wrenching moments through out. A book that also ties me to its characters, makes me care, makes me feel at home, no.no.no I do not have any tendencies, but I have watched Jenna and Dave develop, come to love Wolfe and his children. Rowley a married man and soon to be a dad. Savoring over some of Nans food. Getting to know Jo and Caleb our pop in FBI team and now we have another new character, Rio. I cannot wait for book 12, see how everyone continues to grown and change. Thank you DK Hood, Bookouture and Net Galley for the arc and the fantastic read. All thoughts and opinions are my own which I freely share.
This is book 11 in the Kane and Alton series. I haven’t read any of the other books so it’s ok as a stand-alone, but it does make references to past stories and I enjoyed the book so will definitely be catching up with the rest of the series. There is a lot going on in this book, there are cheerleaders getting killed and also one of the girls Mum is murdered too. Kane and Alton have their work cut out trying to decide how many killers are at large. This book is fast paced with lots going on. If this is your genre I can recommend this book.
Another thrilling and suspenseful read in a great series. A cheerleader is found viciously murdered and shortly thereafter another one goes missing. With plenty of potential suspects Jenna and her team have their work cut out for them to solve this one.
I love these characters and was happy to see Jo and Carter make an appearance as well as the introduction of a new team member. Can't wait for the next one.
Thank you Netgalley and Bookouture for this ARC.
I would like to thank Netgalley and Bookouture for an advance copy of Be Mine Forever, the eleventh novel to feature Sheriff Jenna Akron and Deputy David Kane of the fictional Black Rock Falls, Montana Sheriff’s Office.
When cheerleader Laurie Turner goes missing after practice Jenna isn’t immediately worried as there is something not quite right about her father’s response but when Laurie’s sabotaged truck is found things change. When her body is found in a remote area it points to local knowledge and when another cheerleader disappears it points to something more sinister.
I enjoyed Be Mine Forever, which is another creepy tale from Serial Killer Central as Black Rock Falls has unaffectionately become known. The novel is told alternately from the investigative and perpetrator points of view and this is what gives it the creepiness. The author has outdone herself in her portrayal of cruelty and callousness and I could write a screed on how she’s captured the mentality but that would involve spoilers so I’ll refrain.
The plot offers the usual formula of dead bodies, psychopathic killer, puzzlement, a gradual narrowing in on a suspect aided by hi-tech forensics and finished with an action packed denouement. This is not a criticism as it means the reader knows what they are getting and each novel offers enough variety on the standard to be exciting and moreish. This novel has it all with the added subplot of more crimes and more dilemmas of how to make the cases stick. The novel is intended to be entertaining rather than realistic and it does a good job. I found myself glued to the pages.
The usual gang of overqualified investigators is all here. Sheriff Jenna Alton, not her real name, as she was relocated after her stint as a DEA undercover agent, gets to kick physical ass in this novel and it’s great. Deputy David Kane, again not his real name, relocated after stints as a sniper and top secret government agent, is feeling the pressure of his past. ME Shane Wolfe, formerly Kane’s handler, gets to use cutting edge technology. FBI agents Jo and Ty Carter, banished to Montana for various infringements, make an appearance and offer their skills. Now they are joined by newest deputy, Zac Rio, Californian wunderkind with knowledge beyond his 25 years and a photographic memory. Unrealistic but interesting. Characterisation is not a strong point in these novels, but it doesn’t have to be as the plot is the main thing.
Be Mine Forever is a good read that I have no hesitation in recommending.
I love this series. We’re 11 books in and they are all a fantastic read. Jenna does get on my nerves sometimes and she comes across a bit pathetic and like she needs the men to tell her how to do her job even though she is a badass in her own right. Apart from that though there are so many amazing characters that all bring something different to the story and I love seeing them all work together and be a family. It’ll be interesting to see how the newcomer fits in. The ending definitely had me on the edge of my seat as did a certain part in the middle. I held my breath a lot. As usual, this book kept me guessing until the very end and I was suspicious of everyone.
I received a copy of the ebook via NetGalley in exchange for an honest review
First of I want to say a huge thank you to the publisher Bookouture, the author D.K. Hood , and to NetGalley for inviting me to join the blog tour for this book as well as letting me read and review. Because each time I pick up one of these books I get lost in the story , and I tend to just keep reading even though I say that I'm only going to read a few chapters, and the same thing happened with this one. Its always fast pace, the characters Kane and Alton just keep becoming my all time favorite characters , and I love the interaction between them and their team who is like one big family. Loved how the town still makes me want to visit it but not live there and I never know what's going to happen next until I start reading, love how the author never lets up with her twists and turns, and how the she writes her psychopaths and lets them tell their story with out giving anything away as to who they are until it time, this one had me guessing and I still got it wrong, plus her psychopaths always make the story even more dark and twisted then the ones before them. And the new character, I thing his the perfect fit to their little family and I can't forget Duke ( he had me laughing at times ) with how he acted. Plus this one almost broke my heart which was something I didn't see coming . But even though that happened I can't wait to read more of this great series .
What a story! It had all the elements necessary to “hook you in. I should inform you that I might be a bit biased as I’ve read every single book with Sheriff Jena Alton as the main character. And, of course, her devoted crew: Deputy David Kane, Medical Examine Shane Wolfe and Deputy Jake Rowley. I’ll admit that I’m somewhat jealous because she’s got those “hunky” dudes with her (Kane and Wolfe). I don’t see how she’s able to get any work done.
The story is based in Black Rock Falls (as always) and it seems everything happens there. I wouldn’t want to visit or live there! Murder and mayhem keep this group busy (always)! The newest case involves a missing cheerleader who is found murdered. There are no clues that point to the perpetrator and the group is frustrated. Their frustration mounts when another cheerleader is found murdered and it gets them to wondering who is next.
This book can be read as a stand-alone, but in order to understand each character, you need to read DK Hood’s previous ones. (Here’s a secret – Jena, David and Shane are all running from something. If they are found, they might lose their lives. Think Special Ops!
To say anymore, chances are I’d run into sharing spoilers and I’d rather you get the book. You will not be disappointed! Thanks to #NetGalley for the AC!
Be Mine Forever is book 12 in the Kane and Alton series of which I’ve read and loved every book so far and this is another gripping read! !
Cheerleaders are being murdered in violent frenzied attacks in Blackrock falls and every student is a suspect. A new detective has joined the team and his skills prove vital in solving this case and Carter and Jo are also drafted in as the team needs everybody they have to find oylt who is behind the murders before another cheerleader meets a gruesome fate !!!!
A totally wild ride that kept me hooked the whole way through and I thought I had it sussed but I hadn’t!!! Throw in a few heart pounding moments and one in particular (you’ll know when you get there!!!) all make this another 5 star read for the queen of suspense !!!!
Thank you to NetGalley, Bookouture and DK Hood for the arc of Be Mine Forever my review is honest and unbiased.
would like to thank netgalley and the publisher for letting me read this brilliant book

another brilliant book by d.k hood...cant wait for the next book in this amazing series
Be Mine Forever is book 11 in D.K. Hood's Detective Kane and Alton series, and my first introduction to the characters and author. And what a great introduction it was. As this was a well-written and crafted story. That was packed full of suspense, twists, and turns not to mention it genuinely kept me guessing.
Furthermore, the protagonists were wildly intriguing and engaging, and I was completely hooked throughout.
And I can safely say I will be checking out the earlier books in this series as soon as possible.
Would happily recommend.
I repeat. Read this series! This Author never disappoints. Book 11 and as engrossing as the 1st book was. How does she do it? We have cheerleaders going missing and turning up dead. Typical for Black Rock Falls and a mystery for the team to solve. Great new character as well. Thanks to NetGalley, Bookoutre and the Author for allowing me to read and review this awesome book.
Laurie Turner is a cheerleader at high school in Black Rock Falls when she goes missing on the way home from practice. As Sheriff Jenna Alton and her deputy Dave Kane race to find her it becomes clear her home life was traumatic and her father had very little interest in her or where she was.
The discovery of a body changes the investigation's focus and as Jenna tries to get her new team member up to speed, her team begins its hunt for a killer who leaves very few clues behind. When the perp gets too close to two members of her close circle leaving them in grave danger Jenna has no idea if they will all survive Black Rock Falls latest horrors.
Once again D K Hood grabs your attention on page one and holds it until the end. This is the eleventh book in the Kane and Alton series and the storyline and surprises are still as excellent and successful as ever. There is a new team member to get to know as well as Jenna, Dave, and Rowley's story arc continuing in a thrilling way. Although a brilliant series each book can be read as a standalone with just enough scene setting to make relationships and situations clear.
I was able to read an advanced copy of this book thanks to NetGalley and the publishers but the opinions expressed are my own. I highly recommend this book and the entire series, all are excellent.
Good to catch up with Jenna Alton and David Kane again and her crime busting colleagues, some of whom have rather sinister backgrounds within the secret service. A really gripping storyline, kept me guessing and what with a few red herrings along the way left me none the wiser till the very end.
Number 11 in the series and you’d be forgiven for thinking that yet another spree of murders in Black Rock Falls, during yet another festival in the town and yet more visits to Aunt Betty’s would lead to a series going stale, but you’d be so far from the truth. This series just gets better and better. It’s huge credit to the author that each instalment has been genuinely unputdownable. I think this is my favourite so far, though I’m pretty sure I said that about number 10 too! It’s great to be back in the company of Kane & Alton with their intriguing and clever back stories and even better that the series is kept so fresh by the character developments and introduction of new characters with their own stories to tell. The main plots rip along as the bodies mount up and with the time running out we have an amazing heart stopping finale.
“It would be unusual- but then unusual is usual in Black Rock Falls”
This book was very entertaining and you just have to feel sorry for the people of Black rock Falls. Everything bad seems to happen there.
This time they get to meet a new member to the team and I must say that was really fun to see.
Though you really see a lot more with Jenna and Dave this time you get the real feeling that they are something special.
I loved this book so much as I think it shows a great ability in this author to push through and after 11 books it still feels fresh.
Party time over here, because book 11 in this incredible series was my next read!
The author, once again, had me captivated from the start, messed with my head and had me in tears.
Sheriff Jenna and her team have to do overtime again because they are dealing with some horrible cases. Nothing seems to add up and they have a long list of suspects to keep an eye on. There are too many so they are forced to ask help and Jo and Ty join in too.
Together they manage to find more (confusing) evidence, but they untangle the web little by little. They can remove names from their list and expose the baddies. Baddies who thought they were more clever and indeed they succeeded to fool the police for a while. Don’t mess with the team though, because they will search until they find them and put them where you belong: behind bars.
Black Rock Falls seems like a nice place to live. Unfortunately some crazy killers have the same idea. I guess I will not start packing yet. 😉
I hope the author has a lot of inspiration left to keep this series going for a very long time. Impossible for me to give less than 5 stars.
Thank you, D.K. Hood and Bookouture
Be Mine Forever by D.K. Hood is the eleventh book in the author's Detectives Kane and Alton series. This author never disappoints. This story was another edge-of-the-seat thrill ride. Cheerleaders are going missing and turning up dead. Sheriff Jenna Alton and her chief deputy David Kane have a tough case to close. The killer is not leaving behind much in the way of evidence. These two main characters are great to follow on a case. They are both smart, dedicated and tough. It was great to see FBI Agents Wells and Carter again, as well as Deputy Jake Rowley and Medical Examiner Dr. Shane Wolfe and his crew. We also get to meet the new Black Rock Falls deputy Zac Rio. There's plenty of action and suspense to keep readers turning the pages until the final conclusion.
We are back for the eleventh book in the Kane and Alton series, and I feel it necessary to note that the team (nor the author!) have missed a step. Right from the start I am reminded of why I was so easily drawn into this series from the beginning.
When a teenager is reported missing by her father, the team goes at the case with everything they have. Unfortunately, it isn’t look before the missing case becomes a homicide. Who would want this cheerleader murdered? A jealous ex boyfriend? An older guy who couldn’t get what he wanted from her?
Before the team can find an answer to these questions, another cheerleader is found murdered. As the bodies quickly begin to pile up, the team wonders if they are dealing with multiple killers and multiple motives. Can they figure this crime out before the cheerleading squad is picked off one by one?
Kane and Alton never disappoint. D.K. Hood has cultivated such fabulous characters in Jenna Alton and Dave Kane - always staying true to their history and providing a little glimpse of their future. This adventure starts with a missing cheerleader, and an icky feeling when they meet with her father. During their investigation, another cheerleader goes missing... Alton and Kane need to pull out all the stops in order to solve this mystery. With cameos and a little help from Jo Wells and Ty Carter, Jenna and Kane are pulling out all the stops in this adventure... and who wouldn't want to eat at Aunt Betty's? A fantastic and wonderful book!
