Another amazing book in the Kane & Alton series. I can’t believe it’s book 11 and the series just keeps getting better and better. I don’t know know how D.K.Hood manages it but this series is just brilliant. A great fast paced storyline that grips from the first page as usual and doesn’t let go. It’s good to see at last that Jenna & Dave are finally moving on with their relationship although I quite liked the will they won’t they situation. If you haven’t read any of this series do so as you are in for a treat. Can’t wait for the next book!

How can an eleven book series keep getting better?
Cheerleaders are dying in horrendous ways. We know it is a dominant female and a obedient male, but not exactly who they are. It is another rollicking read, which I devoured in a few days!
We do have a new deputy join the ranks. So now we will find out about him and his siblings!
Looking forward to the next book already!

I swear I will never tire of this series!! This is book #11 and the storylines featuring Sheriff Jenna Alton and Deputy Dave Kane are still going just as strong as they were in the first book!! Whilst it is part of a series, you can easily read it as a standalone book, but I’m certain that when you finish this book you will want to go back to the very beginning of the series and read the rest!! In this book we head back out to Black Rock Falls, or as I fondly refer to it as Serial Killer Central! Cheerleaders are going missing and it’s down to the Sheriff’s team to work out who is responsible. Jenna and her trusted team of Kane, Wolfe and Rowley are yet again joined by FBI agents, Ty Carter and Jo Wells, and also by new Deputy Zac Rio.

I absolutely love this series!!! I’ve read every book so far and they just keep getting better and better. I know that when I see a new book being released by this author, I need to put everything else to one side so I can get started on it as soon as I can!! As usual, there is a serial killer on the loose in Black Rock Falls again, and it’s down to Sheriff Alton and her team to stop them. I love the two main characters of Kane and Alton. I think they are a fantastic partnership, and I particularly love in this book that there may be a hint of something more personal between them for future books in the series! On a professional basis, they work so well together, and I love how Kane is her unofficial bodyguard, ready to stand in between Jenna and a bullet every time! Jenna doesn’t need him to do that though as she is a tough cookie who doesn’t take any rubbish from anyone, although in every book you are beginning to see those tough walls being broken down little by little, revealing an emotional Jenna underneath.

The storyline is fabulous, and grabs you right from the beginning. Each book follows a similar theme in that you see the story from the killer’s perspective, but you have no idea who they are until it is revealed to you. There are also many suspects, giving you lots of dead ends and throwing out endless red herrings, tying you up in knots trying to work it all out. Whilst you might think this theme in 11 books won’t work, it does…it really really does!! Every book is as exciting as the previous, and I love having so many suspects to try and work out everything! Some of the murders are a bit gruesome, but that all adds to the darkness and mystery of the storyline. The supporting characters yet again play an important part in the murder hunt. It was great to see the FBI back again, although I have to still admit there is something about Ty Carter that I can’t put my finger on!! I also don’t think we saw enough of newcomer Zac Rio to make a judgement on him, although there is certainly no doubt he is very good at his job. I can’t wait for future books to reveal more about them all, and to hopefully prove my misgivings to be wrong!

If you are looking for a gripping and fast paced US police procedural series, then look no further! I highly recommend, not just this book but the previous 10 books as well! Full of murder, intrigue and great detective work, this book had me reading until the early hours! Fab, fab, fab…can’t wait for the next book in the series!!

Thank you to #netgalley, #Bookouture and the author for the opportunity to read the eleventh (!) book in the Kane and Alton series in return for a fair and honest review.
What can I tell you, Black Rock Falls truly IS the serial murder capital of the country. And right from the first pages we're introduced to possibly the creepiest killers yet. I mean, we all think cheerleaders are just too much, but who would want to kill one so viciously?
It's Fall Festival time, and Jenna Alton and Dave Kane are preparing the town's peacekeepers for anything and everything. And to top it off, they're welcoming a new Deputy - Zac Rios - who is a unique individual who will certainly add to the town's force; and he's the father of twins who don't figure in this story, but might in the next (I'm sure we will find out).
When the cheerleader Laurie Turner is reported missing by her father, little are Dave and Jenna aware that they are about to be plunged into - once again - a cat-and-mouse game of murder and mutilation. And when her body is finally located somewhere quite unexpected, the forensics are mysterious.
Is her killing an isolated incident? Or is something more sinister afoot? It will soon become apparent.
Along the way to solving the mystery of the murdered cheerleader(s), there are various side stories involving some unsavoury characters, including one of the murdered girls' own father, an attack on one of the department's family members, what could be a copycat killing, and various other crimes and misdemeanors.
Oh, and Ty Carter and Jo Walton are along for the ride again, assisting where possible in bringing the criminals to justice.
Oh, and shame on you, #dkhood for making me cry. Well done!
This is a worthy entry in the series, and makes this reader wonder what's in the future for Jenna, Dave and their department.
Highly recommended - but you really should read them all from the beginning.

This is my first book by D K Hood and I’m really disappointed that I haven’t read any of the previous books before! I believe this is book 11 and I really need to catch up!

Although it can be read as a standalone, in my opinion, I still would have loved to have read the previous books.

I loved DI Alton and I think the characters were really well developed and interesting.

The plot is really fantastic with plenty of mystery and twists and I am still in awe of the ending (and looking forward for the next book)!

I also have to say that the setting is really well described and made it feel really atmospheric. Sometimes, I could almost feel the tension of the scenes I was reading.

Overall, really great book and I have to confess D K Hood has a new fan!

I would like to thank Bookouture and Netgalley for an advanced digital copy of this book in exchange for an honest and unbiased review.

Why do bad things keep happening in Black Rock Falls? Who knows, but Sheriff Alton, Deputy Kane, and the rest of the gang are always up to the task of finding out who the baddies are. In book 11 a popular cheerleader is missing and her dad doesn't seem quite as concerned as he should be. Is he involved? Or is it the photographer whose photos seem to be a little too friendly? The Black Rock Falls Sheriff's Dept must find out before more girls disappear.

Another great book! I can stay up until 2 am reading these books. There were a few name inconsistencies I noticed that hopefully get fixed. Other than that I hope she keeps on going with this series! Thank you, Bookouture and NetGalley for the ARC.

Dk Hood is one of my favourite authors and I love her books but this one felt a bit flat and I think it’s because the relationship between Jenna and Kane has moved on and it has taken away something from the story. I much prefer the will they won’t they aspect but the readers wanted the romance to evolve . This would have been a 5 star read for me otherwise.

This book kept me hooked from the off. A well written, engrossing story that has a pacy storyline and keeps you invested in the characters. Absolutely great read. Thanks for the ARC.

Book 11.. my goodness. I don’t know how DK Hood doesn’t it but this series has no signs of letting up. I always look forward to a new instalment to the story of Black Rock Falls. As beautiful a place it sounds, I definitely would not want to live there. So many psychopaths in one area.

A missing teenage girl brings the team together in a bid to find her. They are too late and the body of the cheerleader is found murdered. Once again there are plenty of suspects. And you might think you have it all worked out but you will not know til the very end. It is not long before another cheerleader is found brutally murdered and the ra e is on to stop the killer... or killers as the evidence seems to suggest.

As always there is a heart stopping ending that will have you holding your breath. Fantastic, bring on 12.

Thanks to Bookouture and NetGalley for my advanced copy of this book to read.

Another pulse pounding, suspense filled ride in the series! Jenna and Kane are on the trail of a killing duo and it will blow your mind. Full of twists, it kept me guessing right up until the reveal. There is a large pool of suspects and they all seem to be guilty of something.
Jo and Carter are back in town. Plus there is a new addition to the department that I'm looking forward to learning more about.
And finally we see progress in the relationship between Jenna and Dave! Now I hope things move a little faster. Fans have been waiting a long time.

And yet another amazing read that kept me wanting more!!!! We finally have some headway in the Kane and Alton department. FINALLY! I hope this doesn't take the entire series to unfold. We all know it's there. Even more now after this book.

Anyway about murder.....I thought I knew who the killers were. There were so many criminals in this book! I'm glad Jenna stands up to men who think it's ok to slap their wives around!!!!

This one will definitely keep you guessing on who is doing which crimes.

Thank you netgalley and Bookouture for allowing me to read this!

Wow what an absolutely fantastic read! I sat and read this in one sitting I loved it. Love the way the characters are progressing with their relationships and the story line was a cracker. Had me totally sucked in and engaged from page one right through to the end. This is DK Hood at her very best. If I could give this more than 5 stars I would!
