A fast paced psychological thriller with many twists and turns when you least expect.
Finding Tessa is about a newlywed couple and how the truth finally catches up with them. Just when you think you’ve got everyone figured out, you quickly learn things are not what they seem.

I found the plot and characters to be original and addicting. Upon starting, I was unable to put the book down. With the alternating POV and the cliffhangers, I knew I wouldn’t be able to sleep without getting to the bottom of it all.

A special thanks to everyone at NetGalley and Scarlet for this arc.

I’m going to be honest, I didn’t like this book, up until about 40% into it. Then, it turned around for me and I realized I had to get to this point to know how much I liked it. I’m not giving anything away, but I think this book was well written and thought out. It keeps you engaged and you really want to find out what happens next.

I found this book very difficult and confusing. I hated all the violence, especially since so much was directed against Tessa. I found nobody I could relate to, except the dog.
The author used coincidence to push this past the point of logic.
Thank you Netgalley for this ARC.

This book was not what I expected - not at all! While I found a bit of the writing style to be elementary the story itself was compelling and I could not stop reading. I could not figure out where it was going! I finished it in two days and it was a very fun read. I look forward to future works from this up and coming author.

Here that?

That is the sound of a ball being hit out of the park! ⚾

Jamie Lynn Hendricks you have a bright future ahead of you if your debut is anything to go by.

I am not going to discuss the plot because I don't want to ruin this for anyone else. This is a book where the less you know the better. Trust me.

I was hooked on this one from the very first page which is a rarity these days so I am thrilled to say how much I loved this. This story is truly addictive and delicious and suspenseful and all those things that I love in my psych thrillers. Best of all a twist that left me gobsmacked.😲 You know the ones? When everything you thought you knew gets turned on its head leaving the reader with their own head spinning. Oh yeah, one of those kinds of twists. So good. So satisfying.

Did I sell you yet? No. Well how about this? An adorable cattle dog pup named Candy that is as sweet as can be. I wanted to reach into the pages to give her a proper belly rub and ear scratch. No animals getting hurt here. Just dog snuggles and kisses which is exactly as it should be.

I found the ending to be enjoyable, satisfying, and best of all plausible. This is a real gem of a psychological thriller and I hope that it gets the attention that it rightly deserves. 5 stars!

Thank you to NetGalley and Scarlet for generously granting my *wish* to read this arc!

I felt This book started off really strong - hooks you, lots of gone girl vibes... the twist is great! But then it just became kinda jumbled for me, a bit too predictable and the ending was rushed. I did enjoy the two POVs and the alternating time lines. This worked so well! Up until about the 70 percent mark I was tearing through this one, and then I kind of lost interest. Some parts I found not believable - letting the “reporter” into the house and giving her a tour? Weird. The recording device and the “moon”. But thank you so much for letting me read an advance copy. I did enjoy parts of this one!

Jace and Tessa appear to be a young couple in love but looks are deceiving. When Jace Montgomery comes home late from work he finds his wife Tessa is missing. There’s broken glass at the back door. Clumps of her hair and blood. Jace is the #1 suspect as he is the husband so naturally it’s him. Jace maintains his innocence until a coworker he is accused of having an affair with ends up dead and the gun, is found in Jaces home.

Meanwhile, Tessa finally feels safe, having set up her husband to take the fall for her disappearance. Tessa needs to break old habits of bad men while trying to stay alive even when the new people in her life are not who they seem. Jaces lies don’t add up and the police are suspicious. Will Tessa be able to escape her past?

I love the past/present tense of the timelines mixed with the different POVs in this book. It really makes you think one thing, when it’s really another and then another again 😏 I don’t want this to contain any spoilers but the timeline and POV really make this book a different type of domestic thriller and I enjoyed it!! You feel for Tessa and Jace alike as they are both emotional characters and the twist is pretty 🤩 I will definitely be looking into more of Jaime Lynn Hendricks novels!!!

Thank you Netgalley for my advance copy in exchange for my honest review!!!

Wow, just wow! Finding Tessa had me on the edge of my seat from the very first page!
Jace and Tessa are newlyweds in love, until Jace comes home from work one night and finds Tessa missing.
Told in the alternating point of views of Tessa who is on the run, framing her abusive husband for her disappearance,
And Jace who is desperate to find his wife!
Nothing is as it seems in this gripping domestic thriller!
If you’re a fan of books like Gone Girl, do yourself a favour and read Finding Tessa when it’s published in May 2021

Thanks to NetGalley, the author and publisher for the ARC!

5/5 stars

Wooooww!! Just wow!

This book reminded me of listening to Sweet Caroline and when the good times never seemed so good part comes, chanting “ so good, so good, so good!”
I’m actually chanting for this book now because it’s freaking gooooodddd! Not so good! Sooooo amazing!

Mind games, twists you never see that coming, fast pacing chapters ending with cliffhangers, the impressive characterization, action packed, whirlwind, shocking, jaw dropping progression of story make you jump out of your seat, tapping your feet nervously, screaming to the pages and to your own eyes and hands to work quickly so you can read faster to learn how the crazy wild ride will conclude!

I’m not gonna tell much about the story to ruin your soon to be perfect reading experience!

We have two narrators: missing wife Tessa who is professional A.hole magnet, suffering from the pretty shitty hand the life dealt with her for years, being abused by foster parents and then ex husbands, lovers! Now she’s on the run after she realizes the control freak, evil incarnation called himself husband might kill her!

And we have another narrator: the husband Jace who finds broken glass pieces at the front door, pieces of Tessa’s hair and her blood! His wife is nowhere to be seen and the police thinks he might have killed her!

It seems like Tessa tries to frame her husband from her disappearance by planting evidence in their house with help of someone but could she getaway from this? Could she finally have a fresh start? Could Jace prove he has nothing to do with his wife’s disappearance?

Well, keep on reading because the author is trick master and she may blow your mind with this extremely fantastic debut!

Im so sure I’ll do anything in my power to promote this book on my social media accounts and share my thoughts and reviews as well. This is something special. So unique, clever and tempting! I’m looking forward to read the author’s future works ! I’m so happy there’s a brilliant new thriller author in the literature town!

Of course I’m giving my five shining, WTH I just read, my head is still spinning after those delicious twists stars!

Special thanks to NetGalley and Penzler Publishers/ Scarlet for sharing this amazing digital reviewer copy with me exchange my honest thoughts.

I really enjoyed this one! I was concerned from the description/beginning that this was going to be just like Gone Girl, but was totally pleasantly surprised. If you like twists/turns and thrillers this book is for you!

tw: some child abuse mentioned, abuse, murder, attempted sexual assault (all are pretty graphic FYI)

Thank you to the author, W. W. Norton & Company, and NetGalley for providing a copy to review.

This book has definitely surprised me! Not just another novel in the vein of “Gone Girl”, but something true original and at times breathtaking!

I've had this one on my TBR since I saw the announcement on Twitter. From the comp titles to the cover, I couldn't wait to get started.

A broken window. A trail of blood. When Jace returns home from a late work night and finds his wife is missing, his life is turned upside down. Suspicions fall on him as the evidence becomes harder to deny, but what really happened the night Tessa disappeared?

I loved this book.

Told in alternating POVs, Hendricks gives us calculated snippets of Tessa and Jace's lives and leaves us to piece together their relationship. The pacing and structure of this book are executed beautifully. I devoured this in a single sitting because I couldn't stop reading. One mystery leads to another, and before you know it, you're halfway through with a list of suspects the length of your arm.

Similar to Flynn's Gone Girl, we are not given in-your-face likable characters. Tessa and Jace are both flawed. Tessa is judgmental, unfiltered, and tends to make poor choices. Jace, too, is spontaneous and has a tendency to lie. This is not a book, however, where you need to like the characters in order to be invested in the story. Their questionable traits and behaviors are purposeful and layered, adding to the reader's suspicions. Just when you think you've got a character figured out, Hendricks flips the switch and you're doubting everything you thought to be true.

Overall, Finding Tessa is an entertaining psychological thrill ride packed with unexpected twists. For fans of dark, complex characters, JLo's Enough, or Jennifer Hillier, add this one to your TBR ASAP.

Jace and Tessa newlyweds ,married after a whirlwind romance hardly new each other.Jace comes home late from work one night and Tessa is not there ,there’s a broken window blood hair strands .The police are called but as Jace talks to the police you get the sense there is something going on maybe a marriage that was not as it seemed.Next we get Tessas story as she flees the marriage and this twisty turning story takes off.A book that is impossible to put down. As we get both sides of the story whose truth is realJace or Tessa.#netgalley#findingTessa

I knew pretty quickly into this book I probably wouldn't like it, but wanted to give it a fair chance. The main problem was the sheer amount of judgmental narrative throughout the entire story - from a 'portly woman' with 'fat little hands,' to all bartenders being white trash and abusers, and - this is where I almost had to put the book down - this little doozy of a description: "She was a climber. If [affair with the boss] came out, she'd scream #MeToo and sexual harrassment." This was shocking to read and should not make it to the published version.

The unconscious misogyny comes through time and again, such as when, the narrator gets angry at a girl who has the audacity to inform her that the man she is on a date with is currently in a relationship (and lying about it): "Wow, what an evil bitch this one is! I thought girls were supposed to stick together."

The judgments did not just begin and end with tearing down side characters, however. All of the characters were flat and black-and-white. Every character was either good or bad, lacking in any subtlety or complexity. And the number of times the protagonist vaguely describes her awful childhood and past life begins to feel borderline absurd. If something bad happened to someone somewhere at some point in history, you can bet it happened to her.

The story itself could be enjoyable enough, but this needs a lot of polishing. The characters as they are are forgettable or unlikable, and the narrative is problematic and repetitive. If more sympathy and complexity can be added to round it out, it can turn into an enjoyable beach thriller.

In the vein of Gaslit and Gone Girl comes about a novel about marital harmony gone wrong. Twisted and spellbound, this plot races off the first page. This is amazing thriller. I highly recommend it.
