Master storyteller Author Hannah Mary McKinnon returns following Sister Dear (2020) with a dark and twisted tale— YOU WILL REMEMBER ME. Trust me, you will remember this psychological thriller and its maze of juicy secrets and lies.

“Diabolical, twisted, and cleverly crafted Well-developed characters and an unpredictable ending make this one totally irresistible. A wicked cat-and-mouse triangle—which one will be left standing in the end?”

How can you trust anyone when you can't trust yourself?

Forget the truth.
Remember the lies.

Jack Smith wakes up on the beach early one morning in Maryland with amnesia after sustaining a head injury.
His girlfriend, Lily, is waiting on him for their special breakfast, and he does not show. She is desperate to find him.

With the help of Jack's landlord, they try to find him and realize he often goes to the beach, where they find his car. However, before they arrive, Jack has awakened and pulled toward Maine (his hometown) even though he does not know why.

Maya (estranged stepsister) to Asher has longed to see her brother again. When Jack turns up (really Asher), she is delighted. Yet, he cannot remember all the history and secrets that led him away in the first place.

Too bad for him since this is the place he tried desperately to escape in the first place.

Lily soon learns Jack is not the person she thought he was. What is he hiding or running from? She also has secrets of her own. Lily hears about a man on TV news that shows up and thinks this may be Jack. She travels to Maine, where she comes face to face with stepsister Maya.

Maya is not excited about Jack's girlfriend showing up. She is jealous and manipulative. Lily does not trust her.

Jack slowly starts gaining some of his memories, and there is hope for Lily and Jack. Lily desperately wants him to remember their lives back in Maryland.

However, something is off with Maya. Something sinister and Lily gets concerned, but Jack wants everyone to get along.

What really happened in Maine all those years ago for Jack to escape under a new identity? Who is in danger? Who is the perpetrator? Who is the evil one?

Wow! What a ride. Hannah cleverly leads you down a twisted dark evil road with well-developed characters and riveting suspense, keeping you glued to the pages, not knowing what jaw-dropping hammer (or other tools or tricks in her bag) will drop next.

From past to present, a propulsive journey through a winding maze of secrets. Get this one on your list, thriller lovers! For fans of B.A. Paris, Mary Kubica, and Hank Phillippi Ryan.

On a side note: My favorite new word: "Discombobulate." On to the dark side—this character is pure evil (you notice I did not say the gender). Watch your back. The three are pretty messed up. You will be guessing to the final explosive ending.

OMG! I could not sleep for many nights reading this one! My heart was pounding for days and nights. Love the dark humor. Fans of Mary Kubica's Local Woman Missing (5/4) will enjoy this one. You will get the connection. I think the sneaky manipulative characters should team up.

A Top Books of 2021 list. Stay tuned for my fun upcoming Elevator Ride with the Author, coming May 28th! Cannot wait. Move this to the top of your list. In the meantime, check out my Elevator Ride with Hannah (2020) Sister Dear.

I have read all her books, and I think this is my favorite! Be sure and tune in to Hank & Hannah show @firstchapterfun on Tues and Thursdays. Love these two gals!

This was such a good thriller. I’m a big fan of multiple POV stories, but I know some people are easily confused. I didn’t enjoy any of the characters, but I think that was purposely done. Definitely a good read

I'd like to thank the author, publisher and Net Galley for providing a free e-book ARC of this book in exchange for my review.

I don't usually enjoy newer thrillers. Many times, they aren't really thrilling to me. I'm usually very disappointed. This one, however, was a very nice surprise!

I'm not a fan of the multiple POV story line, and it did distract me from reading and really enjoying the book, so I'm going to go with a 3 star rating (rounded down from 3.5). The changing POV combined with the fact that I hated every single character distracted me, but overall, this is one of the highest ratings I've given a thriller in the past 5 years. I will check out other titles by this author for sure.

The central premise of the book is set around an amnesiac man who wakes up on a Maryland beach with no recollection of who he is or what is his name. He only gets glimpses of visual recollections that he can’t attest where they’re real or false.

Meet Main Character No. 2, Maya who is the step-sister of Asher, the amnesiac man. However Asher can’t remember her one bit and just “goes with the flow” with whatever she says. Sounds dangerous, right? According to Maya, Asher suddenly up and left their hometown in Maine 2 years ago and nobody knows why.

Meet Main Character No. 3, Lily who is the gf of Jack, also the same amnesiac man, who left her high and dry. Jack/Asher doesn’t remember her either but she swears they’ve built a life together in Maryland and she vows to make him remember their past together.

If you want a psychologist thriller full of characters with secrets, dirty laundry, sick obsession with no boundaries, dead people, throw in some unhinged psychopath, meet Hannah Mary McKinnon’s 𝐘𝐨𝐮 𝐖𝐢𝐥𝐥 𝐑𝐞𝐦𝐞𝐦𝐛𝐞𝐫 𝐌𝐞. Make no mistake, you will definitely remember this novel after you’ve read it and then some. Hannah does not hesitate in sealing the fate of her main characters and you should not hesitate reading this obsessive thriller!

This book gave me the chills. The mind can be a really scary thing. It was really hard to put the book down. I was eager to learn what happened before the amnesia. The tension built and the secrets were revealed with the perfect pacing.

I guessed the “who” about halfway through the book, but that did not lessen the suspense. Knowing “who” does not tell you what evil thoughts are going through that person’s head and how those thoughts will be executed. And this one is evil! The story is told from the perspective of three different people and I thought that worked really well for this book.

A quick read that is entertaining and will provide a wild ride.

I received an Advance Review Copy of this book. All opinions are my own.

I wanted to love this so much but once all POV's were introduced, I knew immediately how it was going to go down. Well, I didn't know one thing was going to happen at the end since books don't usually end like that. That immediately dropped another star off for me because I don't like those kind of endings. (I am in the minority of that thought) I do like to be surprised and wrong but not about this one thing. I don't want to say too much because it would ruin it. Overall the authors writing is great and fast paced and that's always a plus for me. I still do recommend this for fans of psychological thrillers but just be warned, except for one thing, you will predict it all very quickly.

A man wakes up on a beach with a head injury and no memory leaving the reader instantly intrigued. A woman is devastated when her boyfriend is missing and presumed drowned, yet she’s not willing to give up hope. Both have secrets and when Ash finds himself in his hometown with his sister, memories start to come to the service. Memories that might just be better forgotten. What started out intriguing, was soon too easy to figure out exactly where the story was going. The ending wasn’t quite what I was expecting and actually one I didn’t care for.

I loved this book so much!! You Will Remember Me was super fast paced and I was hooked from the very beginning of the book. I had so many questions at the end of each chapter, it kept me so engaged right through. I did find some of it a little predictable but I didn’t hate it which is the second time this is happened to me this year with a thriller. This book was dark, twisty and everything I needed. I was in a bit of a thriller funk and this pulled me right out of it. I LOVED the ending, it was perfect. I totally did not expect it. Jack’s character was just something else. I just love all of Hannah Mary McKinnon’s books and this one is new favourite for sure. I highly recommend this book.

Available Today – May 25, 2021!

What a shocking ending! I love it when mysteries have an ending that is unexpected and untraditional. I thought I knew where things were going, but I was completely wrong!

The novel focuses on 3 characters – Lily (girlfriend of Jack), Maya (stepbrother of Asher) and a mystery man. Obviously the big question is who the mystery man? Is he Jack, Asher, someone else or are Jack and Asher the same person? Thankfully the author doesn’t spend too much on this mystery and before the half point the reader knows who the mystery man is.

The book did hook me the entire time, but there were some slow parts and I did guess some of the reveals. Again the ending was quite a shock and I’m glad that the author took a unconventional route.

3 calculators out of a potential 5. I’m glad I decided to take a chance on Hannah Mary McKinnon, whom I have never read before. I’m glad I did and I’m happy to support an author that lives just in the next city over.

Thank you to Netgallery and HARLEQUIN – Trade Publishing (U.S. & Canada) for an ARC in exchange for my honest review.

You Will Remember Me by Hannah Mary McKinnon ⭐⭐⭐⭐

This book definitely surprised me!

A man wakes up on a beach in Maryland, injured and unable to remember anything about who he is and his past. He manages to return to his hometown in Maine, where his stepsister, Maya, tries to help him recover. The man's girlfriend, Lily, won't give up looking for her boyfriend. She makes her way up to Maine and tries to uncover the secrets that he has kept from her, including his name.

The story is told from the perspective of the 3 main characters. There are secrets being hidden by all 3, will they be uncovered and how will they change the relationships and dynamics in the story. Although I was able to guess part of the ending, I was also shocked by how the story truly ended. It was twisty, creepy at times and had you guessing who to trust and what they are hiding about their past.

⁣Forget the truth. Remember the lies.

My thoughts:

-If you love books where you can't crack the case until the very end, LOVE TO HATE every single character, have anxiety attack after anxiety attack and experience wild, jaw dropping ends, then let me introduce you to You Will Remember Me. Holy moly, Hannah! This book was deliciously dark and totally mind-bending. My heart was in my throat the entire time!!

-The amount of lies and deceit that run throughout the narrative are utterly captivating. I never knew who to trust and more importantly, who to love or hate. Each of the characters were intricately written and I loved the super unique storyline. This is a really fun psychological thriller that will keep the reader invested from start to finish. This one is packed with tension and bad decisions that seem to snowball as the chapters progress. If you find yourself with a lazy afternoon, I highly suggest picking this one up.

-For all of my friends who love popcorn reads - this one is told from 3 interesting and unique perspectives (Jack, Lily and Maya). And oh my gosh - Maya? I seriously HATED her with a seething passion (in the best way possible). She was incredibly manipulative, but in a discreet manner for more than 75% of the book. I really couldn't figure out her intentions until the very end. I can't even discuss the ending without giving something away but - WHAT IN THE ACTUAL "F" WAS THAT? So dark, twisty and chilling. This book is worth the read just to find out what I mean ...

Covid has made me into less of a thriller reader, but when I saw the description of You Will Remember Me, it sounded really good and I had to request it.

I loved the short chapters and the perspectives of Lily, Ash, and Maya. The story drew me in quickly in the beginning and I was captivated. I couldn't wait to find out what happened. It was really interesting to see the different perspectives of Lily and Maya. We knew basically knew what was going on with Maya, but I had no idea how far she'd go to keep Asher. This was disturbing at times, especially the ending, but it was a fascinating story.

Thank you to Harper Collins and Netgalley for an arc in exchange for an honest review.

I’m a major fan of Hannah Mary McKinnon so her new book was one my most anticipated of the year. It definitely didn’t disappoint. While I saw some of the twists coming I definitely didn’t know what they were all going to be. The characters in this book were great and the storyline definitely kept my interest. I was invested right from the first chapter. I love how smoothly Hannah’s books flow. I don’t want to mention any details because it spoils the suspense. Make sure to add this to your TBR.

Holy cannoli! Y’all this will literally be available TOMORROW, and if y’all don’t purchase it, you’re gonna miss out on probably a #1 book of the year! Thank you so much to the author, Harlequin and NetGalley for the review copy!!

Not all stories are sunshine and roses, not all stories have the conclusion you’re looking for and not all stories end the way you’d think they would. This story was so darn good, so twisty, stormy and full of good writing. The story was well written, the climax and the ending were something I didn’t expect but, it was a perfect conclusion.

If you have step siblings, we’re you attracted to them when you met? Did you want to be around them constantly and do everything in your power to tear their relationships apart? Maya does, she craves Ash from the moment they meet and does everything she can to make him hers. Life happens and he ends up in Maryland under an assumed name until he’s assaulted on the beach, waking up with amnesia. What happens after that is wild and a truly great read.

I thoroughly enjoyed this book and couldn’t put it down. Pick it up tomorrow and let me know your thoughts!!

Secrets, lies, amnesia and warped relationships = a page turner!⁣

Well, ok then Hannah Mary McKinnon! Talk about a satisfying and suspenseful thriller with a twisted ending that I totally approve of! ⁣

The premise is one that always draws me in, let me set the scene for you - a man wakes up on a beach not knowing who he is or where he is. Total amnesia! I mean come on - you know that’s a recipe for upcoming disaster and I was here for it! Add in one girlfriend with a few skeletons in her own closet, a stepsister that has some, let’s call them boundary issues, and a past that seems to include not one but two dead ex-girlfriends and I was wondering why he’d even want his memory back because none of it looked good. ⁣

I binged this quickly because I had to know where it was all headed. I suspected where it was all going but this is one of those books where knowing who the bad guy is feels fitting because it’s not about the “who”, it’s more about the “why”. I love a good unhinged psychopath and McKinnon delivers here - especially with that ending! I was thoroughly satisfied with how things played out - not sure what that says about me though. ⁣🤷🏻‍♀️

Okay Hannah Mary McKinnon, you got me again! The last book I read by this author (Sister Dear) had a controversial ending for me that I wasn't sure I liked, and I had to spend a long time thinking about what I wanted to rate, and say, for You Will Remember Me as well. As soon as I read the first few words I was HOOKED to this novel. The pacing is quite quick and between that and the viewpoint changes, there is a lot of mystery and intrigue very quickly. Then we get introduced to the character of Maya and things get real weird, real fast. She was all kinds of messed up, and you can tell right away there is something not quite right with her. I love seeing characters like this in books, and McKinnon sure knows how to write them in a way that makes the reader uncomfortable while also propelling you to keep reading because you need to know what they are going to do.

A lot of this book is predictable which at first was a disappointment for me, but after spending more time thinking about it I realized it really is rather genius as well. The end left me feeling strangely satisfied, and there were a whole two characters I actually felt sorry for and Asher was not one of them. You Will Remember Me is a dark dive into family secrets, and the end will leave you wondering what on earth just happened. I recommend going into it as blind as possible, and just enjoy the ride it will take you on.

I received a complimentary copy of this book. Opinions expressed in this review are completely my own.

This thriller was one that was very fast paced and extremely riveting. I stayed up way too late as I needed to find out what would happen with these characters.

A male wakes up on a Maryland beach with a big gash on his head but he has no idea who he is or where he is. Lily is waiting at her home for breakfast but her boyfriend does not show up and she begins to search for him. She finds his abandoned truck and calls in the police. Is her boyfriend missing?? Is he dead??

Maya has been searching for her step brother for two years when he shows up at a convenience store with a gash on his head. She brings him home and they begin the journey of him trying to remember his past? What will his memories hold??

I received an early digital copy of this book.

You Will Remember Me is an unexpected psychological thriller that turned everything upside down in the most shocking ways.

Reading the story, I thought that it was interesting, compelling, but not at all original. I liked it, but it was, at its core, a fatal attraction type of story. Then I got to the end, and my world of expectations was rocked until it turned upside down, and I was left in complete and total admiration of the author for her bold choices and chutzpah. I think that I am still in shock.

The strong theme of lies, and the consequences of those lies, runs through the story and all the main characters. Everyone is telling lies for a variety of reasons that are unique to each character. It's interesting to reflect on which, if any, of these lies are acceptable by society standards or your own and which are not. How much does intent play into the acceptability, and at what point is it no longer sufficient? There is so much discussion potential with this story.

My feelings changed as the story progressed toward each of the main characters, but I think they stayed most consistent with Lily, so I consider her my favorite character. I loved how she showed equal amounts of vulnerability and strength. It feels very genuine in a story full of disingenuousness. I tended to gravitate to her story more so than the others because of this.

There are three narrators – Lily, Maya, and Ash. Their voices are reasonably easy to distinguish from one another, so it is very rarely confusing to have so many points of view. Each one tells a very different part of the story, so each POV is relevant and essential toward getting the whole truth. Each POV also builds the suspense in unique ways. Ash lost his memory and is trying to put the pieces together with the help of his step-sister, Maya, and his girlfriend, Lily. What truth he gets depends on the character's intentions helping him figure out what is real and what is not.

As you probably have gotten from my review, this story takes complexity to a whole new level and doesn't hesitate to leave the reader with lots to think about. If you are looking for a thriller that will surprise and challenge you, this is the book you won't want to miss this summer.

This was a fun little twisted book! It comes down to whether Asher knew he was lying when he said he was Jack. He has amnesia, but did he have it before or was he lying? And if he was lying, why? Following the unraveling of his story as he tries to put his life back together and find a balance between his past and what he considers his present is an enjoyable read. Some of the pieces fell together rather easily but I never felt like that detracted from the overall progression of the story. A few things were a bit too coincidental and I was very much not a fan of the over-explaining done at the end of the book. I wouldn't mind if this fad of needing to lay everything out for the reader went away. But again, I am not team tied up in a pretty package with a ribbon kind of reader. Perhaps I am in the minority on that? Either way, this was one of those wicked chuckle as you read along kind of books.

Seriously messed up.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
This book is something else. I have happily reading along and then some things started to not sit quite right. Little niggling’s in the back of your mind are saying all is not right in this world… You can say that again!
This author takes you places you don’t really expect. You feel big swings of emotion. The biggest – Love and hate – Loved Jack; Loved Lily … Hated Maya. You start to see issues and at several points I did not even want to keep reading. But I did only to find my thoughts and feelings were correct all along.
McKinnon is not afraid of delivering the unexpected shock value in this book. She makes subtle changes along that way that seep into the story to keep you on your toes as the story takes on a different feel and level of disturbance. Twisted and chilling with a wild ending that makes you feel a bit ill, then just ticks you off! This is one story that you will remember! It is seriously messed up!
