Can I just start off by saying that Lauren Layne never lets me down!!! To Sir, with Love was such an interesting read and I loved everything about it.

The plot was actually very intriguing. I love the connection between Sebastian and Gracie and the moments they had together. Both characters were interesting to read about and I easily connected with them. Gracie is absolutely everything!! She’s passionate and has a lot of dreams which I could totally relate to. I love her and her personality so much.

Overall To Sir, with Love is a light, cute read that’s very enjoyable. I love the way Lauren Layne wrote Sebastian and Gracie’s story. Also capturing the moments between both characters that fits all the pieces together perfectly.

Gracie co-owns her father's champagne shop in the heart of New York City with her brother and sister. Her siblings are not there for the day-to-day operations, but Gracie is the only one willing to keep the shop up and running. Her life is clearly not all roses; her arch-nemesis, Sebastian, wants to buy her out of the lease, her love-life is dismal, and the shop is barely surviving. Gracie does have a not-so-secret pen-pal who encourages her and brings some much needed joy. She doesn't know what he looks like and only knows him by "Sir", but his notes are eagerly anticipated.
This is my third - and favorite! - Lauren Layne book. As it's a retelling of The Shop Around the Corner, nothing was surprising or unexpected. But! It is a feel-good and happy story. Gracie's relationship with Sir is sweet and in a perfect juxtaposition with her antagonism for Sebastian. The book is an easy, breezy, quick read and I particularly enjoyed the ending. I'm giving a little shoulder shimmy as I write this, knowing that I get to binge read more of Lauren because her backlog is so accommodatingly substantial. I'm always in need of a cheerful read to offset some of the heavier books in my TBR.

Cute re-write of oft-cited favorites The Shop Around the Corner and You’ve Got Mail. Perfect for fans of witty romantic comedies. TO SIR, WITH LOVE has nothing to do with the Sidney Poitier film, but shares a title. Very fast read and predictable outcome, but, a warm hug of a tale. I received my copy from the publisher through NetGalley.

Yes, Yes, Yes - Lauren Layne is an instant one-click buy for me. Her books are full of all the feels and this one is another classic! Read this delightful and charming rom com by the beach and enjoyed every second of it.

This is a cute story! I ate it up in a day and I loved so much about it.
Things I loved:
- I thought Gracie being a champagne shop business owner was so unique, and Ioved that it took place in New York.
- The whole "You Got Mail" but make it over a dating app made it perfect for present day.
- The growing relationship between Sebastian and Gracie was fun and easy to follow.
What I wish was done better:
- The pacing, but I think its just because I am not the biggest fan of slow burn.
- I find it crazy that Gracie just did not put the pieces together that Sebastian was Sir. I would have been interested in seeing if they got together mid way and then navigated their relationship with the shop as a part of it.
But, I still thought it was an easy read and would recommend as a beach read, perfect for summer.

This was sweet, but definitely lacking. The dating app angle was really great, but I didn't feel anything for her connection with "Sir". They never really talked about anything—all their messages back and forth are just philosophical and hypothetical questions. How do you get to know someone that way? I enjoyed the different relationships, but in all, fairly mediocre read.

To Sir, with Love by Lauren Layne is a laugh-out-loud romantic comedy that is a mix of Love Is Blind meets You’ve Got Mail. A fun, flirty read that will leave you happy and wanting to read more fairy-tale romances. The chemistry and banter between the characters are off the charts. To Sir, with Love is a fun, fast-paced romantic read.

I knew how this book was going to end almost from the very first chapter, and I still loved every tropey moment of it. It's a very clear retelling of the wonderful classic The Shop Around the Corner with James Stewart and Margaret Sullavan (or You've Got Mail if you're into more modern movies) and Layne owns it and even tells readers to go check out the original at one point.
Gracie Cooper reads like a real person that I'd love to get to know and she's surrounded by interesting characters that enhance the story every time they appear on the page. Then we have the mandatory, almost too-good-to-be-true love interest in Sebastian that clashes with Gracie in all the best ways. We get banter, miscommunication, awkward exchanges, sweet actions, and a grand-gesture reveal that leads straight into an extremely satisfactory sappy HEA.
This is one for a great summer book club or the beach. To be enjoyed with good (sparkling) wine and good friends for a fun discussion.

Many very happy thanks to NetGalley and Gallery Books for the early read!

I guess I'm just a hopeless romantic because this book had all the feels for me. Yes, it is very similar to You've Got Mail by Nora Ephron and that's probably why I loved this book so much as that is one of my favorite movies of all time. The characters were all pretty lovable, especially Gracie, and then there's Sebastian. Yes, this one worked for me. It was just the type of book I needed to read right now, a delightful, charming, feel-good romantic comedy. Very well done.

This was such a delightful, romantic read, one of the best I've read all year. Every time I think of it, I start smiling.

Gracie Cooper put aside her own dreams of becoming an artist to run the family business in New York City, after the death of her father. She had given up on awkward dates with friends of friends and joined an anonymous dating app, where she began to regularly exchange posts through the app with a man she only knew as 'Sir'. He became someone she could trust.

The store she runs was her dad's dream - he and his wife had started their champagne shop from nothing, with their young kids pitching in to help around the store. Gracie was single and lived in Manhattan, so she was the natural choice of her siblings to take over running the store after the death of their dad. Gracie tries several things to keep the business afloat, including selling some of her own art in the store.

Soon Gracie has another problem on her hands. Not only is the business struggling to stay financially viable, but a large company is considering buying several small stores on her street and her business is important in their plans. Grace is drawn to a man who visits her store one day - until she discovers that he works for the group that wants to buy her out.

It's difficult for me to describe how completely charming this book is. If you enjoy well-written, slow-developing romance with feeling and intelligent characters, then this is the book for you.

I received an ARC of this book from the publisher via NetGalley. It was my pleasure to voluntarily read and review this book.

This is my first time reading Lauren Layne, ahead of interviewing her. This book is light, charming, and literally made me smile. It’s a perfect romance for those women’s fiction fans who don’t admit to being a romance reader, and gives you everything you want out of a rom-com. Read between heavy lit or stressful suspense for a well-balanced literary diet.

Where are my hopeless romantics at? *raises hand* Because this one’s for you.

Have you heard this story before? Pretty much… The Shop Around the Corner, You’ve Got Mail… and now To Sir, With Love. But retelling a timeless romance never gets old.

Sir and Lady “meet” on a dating app that doesn’t use photos, encouraging members to get to know each other through their messages first. Gracie Cooper owns Bubbles and More, a boutique champagne shop near Central Park. Sebastian Andrews’ company wants to buy out her lease to make way for the latest and greatest. Gracie is falling in love with Sir. She’s at odds with Sebastian. Until she isn’t. Until she’s no longer sure what she wants from her life, professionally and romantically. Or just who she wants Sir to truly be.

If you’re a romance reader, I think it’s safe to say you’ve watched You’ve Got Mail. Maybe you’ve watched The Shop Around the Corner. And I’m happy to say that if you loved those, you’ll be very pleased with this latest update to this love story. You love Gracie from the start. You fail to hate Sebastian. You impatiently wait for everyone to realize what you already learned from getting to see both Sir and Lady’s messages as well as Gracie and Sebastian’s interactions. You still wait with baited breath as you start to see the pieces fall into, and back out of, place. And you swoon when they truly and fully do. It’s all there, just updated for today’s love lives.

And, as much as I loved losing myself in the timelessness of this romance, I equally loved the full cast and real life happening. Friends, family, coworkers, strained relationships, family obligations and history, girls nights… To Sir, With Love may not be a long book, but it works through all the facets of Gracie’s life with ease and never feels rushed. It all fits together with the ease of a glass slipper.

So, be ready to be swept off your feet in fairytale fashion.

Cute. I think that’s the only word for this book. Very predictable. Very sweet. And very cute. I it was a good beach read, with no surprises and no angst. Perfect for an easy summer read

This was an incredibly sweet romantic tale.
This is a dating app love story. Not the typical dating app love story either. This is the one that we all wish for but very rarely get.
I swooned and smiled while reading this. A perfect beach read.
Pick this up if you're looking for a sweet heartwarming romance.

Fairytale meet cute. Gracie believes her fairytale romance is just around the corner even though she is firmly living in the real world. Sebastian is a realist who wants to dream. This is a sweet story of two people who are looking for love but are afraid of getting their heart broken. It’s a modern twist on the fairytale where the couple meets online instead of in a ballroom. It’s a cute story with cool characters.

When I’m in the mood for a sweet romance set in New York City, a Lauren Layne book never disappoints, and this one may now be my favorite!

In addition to reading romance books, I also love watching romantic comedies and nothing beats a romance with Meg Ryan. I loved You’ve Got Mail, starring Ryan and Tom Hanks and once I heard that Layne’s newest release was based on that movie, I had to read it.

While the book has many similarities to the movie, Layne took the angle of two people meeting anonymously online and falling for each other while also falling for each other in person, but completely made it her own.

What made this book really stand out was the perfect slow burn romance between Gracie and Sebastian.

I loved the instant connection between Sir and Lady in their email exchanges because they were so honest and open with one another. But it was the growing connection between Gracie and Sebastian that tugged on my heart strings.

The key for me was that Layne made Sebastian a really nice guy. Even though Gracie initially saw him as the man trying to put her out of business and wanted to hate him, he really had her best interests at heart. It was the moments when he just kept showing up and being there for her that made me fall hard for this man.

Gracie was a great heroine in her own right. I could feel for the tough situation she was in, wanting to continue her father’s legacy and yet realizing that she wasn’t living a life she truly wanted.

I think it would be so hard to write a romance where both main characters essentially fall in love with two people, but Layne did it seamlessly.

Even her side characters made fantastic additions to the story which made the book even richer.

While this would have been a 5 star romance for me if Layne brought in a bit more steaminess to the romance, I still loved it all the same and highly recommend it.

You Got Mail, has always been one of my top 10 movies of all time, even though I was a child when it came out. So when I read the synopsis of this book, I knew I had to read it and I hoped it wouldn’t disappoint me. Thank goodness I read it too because oh man this book definitely did not disappoint. I loved every single piece of this story, Gracie and Sebastian had me smiling the entire book and oh the ending made me swoon. Seriously if you loved You Got Mail you have to read this book.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️💫

This was a quick, quirky and fun romance with absolutely zero steam – and I loved it! To Sir With Love is a You’ve Got Mail-inspired contemporary fiction novel about Gracie Cooper, who has a “relationship” with a man she’s never met on a blind dating app, and runs Bubbles, her family’s champagne store. She meets Sebastian Andrews, who is trying to buy out her lease so he can build a skyscraper on the property, and sparks fly. Of course.

If this book wasn’t You’ve Got Mail-inspired, it probably wouldn’t have worked – and if you’ve never seen that film, you might not follow along with most of the plot, because it sticks pretty true to Nora Ephron’s. But it was, and I have, so I enjoyed it a lot!

My favorite movie in the world is You’ve Got Mail and to read a story that has some resemblance to it makes me a happy reader. I couldn’t stop reading Sebastian & Gracie’s story.

Sebastian & Gracie were beyond adorable. I loved their chemistry and banter!

I look forward to more adventures by Lauren Layne in the future.
