Alright. I loved this one. I haven’t seen You’ve Got Mail (I know, I know) but this book was really good!!!

Gracie owns her family’s champagne (and more!) store in New York. She’s been messaging a mysterious man she met on a dating app. She doesn’t have a name for him or know what he looks like (that’s the premise of the app). She’s slowly been falling for him.

Enter Sebastian Andrews, a developer who’s looking to buy out Gracie’s shop. The two butt heads early on. Can Gracie save the shop and have her happily ever after-while not totally hating Sebastian at the same time? What happens when you have feelings for two different people (one of them being someone you haven’t even met!)?

I loved the premise of this. I loved Gracie. She worked hard, she was emotional but not overly emotional. She loved her family and friends. I liked that she seemed NORMAL (I, too, hate wearing high heeled shoes). She had a life that didn’t center around a man. I also appreciated that Gracie did what was best for HER, and not others. All around a good leading lady. I wouldn’t call this enemies to lovers? More like, ‘we have disagreements’ to lovers, perhaps?

I liked Sebastian. A lot. He has the unfortunate job of buying people’s properties-places they’ve put in time and money and love. He could’ve easily been a huge butthead. But he was far from it. In fact, I think the author went out of her way to make him extremely likable, which I appreciated. He paid $300 to attend a cooking night just to hang out with Gracie, for heavens sakes! And the art gallery connection was so thoughtful.

I think the relationships in the book were more about a foundation of sharing things with each other, and not sex. Which is different from the other romance books I’ve read lately. Steam level is a 1. So if you NEED that in a book, this one won’t be for you. I didn’t mind the lack of it, though, since that wasn’t the basis of interactions between characters.

5/5 stars from me! I’ll absolutely be buying a physical copy of this one!

Thank you for the opportunity to read and review this ARC!

SQUEEE!!! This was so cute! This was a fun, light on the steam, romance that reminded me of a hallmark movie only in the guise of a rom com book. As the blurb suggests, it is heavily influenced by the movie You've Got Mail (which is one of my favorite movies) and the blurb did not disappoint! It was the perfect beach read for me and left me smiling all the time after reading! I would definitely recommend this to fans of the movie, and to rom com readers that don't love a huge amount of steam. It feels perfect for fans of Sophie Kinsella.
Thank you to NetGalley and the publishers for this ARC to review!

To Sir, with Love is an endearing story of happily ever after. This novel is a pleasing romance playing on every little girls dream of fairy tale love. The chemistry, between Sebastian and Gracie, fits perfectly together. And, there is No better backdrop than NYC for a love story. Definitely a very slow burn with a heart warming ending. Overall, this is a splendid romcom that reminds the reader of the 1998 hit movie, You've got mail.

Pop some bubbly, and "clink" your champagne flutes together for To Sir, with Love!

Thank you NetGalley and Gallery Books for a complimentary advance copy in exchange for an honest review.

Omg, this is such a cute story. It's a fun romantic comedy with You've Got Mail vibes. From the moment I started this one I was hooked. The characters are so easy to fall in love with. Gracie is a fairytale obsessed artist who runs her family's wine boutique and tries her hardest to keep the business alive while looking for her Mr. Right. She has the idea of the perfect man set in her mind, yet finds herself falling for a mystery man she started talking to on a dating app. Sebastian is a business man who is trying to buy out the lease on Grace's family business so Gracie instantly despises him. Rachel and Keva are awesome best friend characters, and Gracie's siblings Lily and Caleb are funny and supportive. Finding out the identity of the mystery man was a little predictable, I had a strong suspicion about halfway through. Overall I absolutely loved this book amd can't wait to read more of Layne's work.

I bet Sebastian and Gracie felt silly when they realized that both of their topics changes on the same night in their messages. Talk about not knowing what is right in front of you. I really enjoyed reading, To SIr, With Love. It is a funny book.

In this homage to Nora Ephron’s YOU”VE GOT MAIL, Gracie Cooper is a happy, sunshine kind of gal who likes to spread joy and cheer to all she meets. Gracie was just about to embark on a long-held dream of becoming an artist when her father passes away so she takes over his Midtown Manhattan champagne shop. Despites her best efforts to modernize and keep the business alive, the profit margin is slim to none. Enter an arrogant cooperate suit, Sebastian Andrews, who immediately puts the affable Gracie on the defensive and throws shade on her, in his opinion, paltry efforts to make the shop a success. Sebastian’s company wants to buy Gracie out of the family’s lease to tear down the place and build yet another cold, sterile steel and glass skyscraper in New York.

Gracie has not told her brother and sister how she really feels about setting aside her own dreams to keep alive her father’s last wish. Gracie has been corresponding with a nameless, faceless man she “met” on a dating app that is based on people getting to know each other by words only before they exchange personal information or meet in person. She only knows him as Sir and he calls her Lady. In keeping with the plot of the other story, it is clear who the Sir really is as clues are dropped for both along the way. Sebastian and Gracie bounce back and forth between enemies juxtaposed with being very attracted to one another. Neither is above a few tricks to make the other see who is right about Gracie’s determination to hold on the failing business.

This is a “sweet” love story where the clothes stay on and the focus is on Gracie and Sebastian’s banter, her supportive family and friends, and Gracie’s propensity for fairy tales and old romantic movies. Gracie has been waiting a long time for her prince to come; she is quite surprised who he turns out to be. This is a light, enjoyable story that will please fans of Ms. Layne.

This one is a gem. I read a lot of romance and this is among the best I've read this year. The characters are lovely and there is humor throughout. The action never deviates from the main male/female protagonist. The plot did not devolve into unnecessary drama. This one was so good. Will recommend highly.

Ahh, I loved this book. For anyone that likes "You've Got Mail", this is an excellent play on the same story. What a wonderful way of telling how the two have an intense dislike for each other to start, and what happens when they finally found out who they really are! This was a fun read, and had me both laughing and crying in places. I would definitely recommend this. Excellent!

Thank you NetGalley, Lauren Layne and Gallery Books for the ARC of To Sir, with Love. This is my personal review.
This was a nice romance to read. I like a romance that gives me the things I expect in a romance.
It reminded me a lot of the movie You’ve Got Mail. That is what I like in a romance. Fun, easy and comforting.
This is a book I will wrap for all my friends and give as a gift. A nice escape with a feel good book is just what we all need.

Lauren Layne is an author who never disappoints me. This book was a 1990s Tom Hanks/Meg Ryan Rom Com wrapped in book form and I adored it. It made me laugh, it made me cry, it made me so happy.

Inspired by You've Got Mail and The Shop Around The Corner, this book tells the story of Gracie Cooper, a young woman who wanted to be an artist but instead ended up running her family's wine business after both her parents died. Gracie is also a die hard romantic. She has been talking online to a man she only knows as "Sir" and he only knows her as "Lady". They met on a dating app that has no photos and is all about getting to know someone for who they are. Unfortunately there is also Sebastian Andrews. His family's company owns the building Gracie's family business is in and he wants her to end her lease so they can tear down the building and build a new one. Gracie and Sebastian face off as she tries to save her family business, and while she is devoted to Sir, she is finding herself dreaming about a certain tall, dark, handsome man with aqua eyes.

If you've ever seen You've Got Mail you know how this book ends, but I assure you, it's so much fun getting there! There were also a few characters that I could see being spun off from this book like Layne's Central Park Pact book series (which I LOVE).

*I was provided an ARC from Netgalley and Gallery Books for my honest review.

"There comes a time in every woman's life when the only thing that helps is a glass of champagne."

- Bette Davis

This book is a delightful homage to “The Shop Around the Corner,” and “You’ve Got Mail.” Gracie Cooper is the middle child and is running her late father’s Champagne store, Bubbles, in Manhattan. She gave up her dream of becoming an artist to continue her father’s legacy. The store is struggling and just barely getting by. Sebastian Andrews is her landlord and wants to break her lease to build a much more profitable property. This sets up a nice little rivalry between them. Both Gracie and Sebastian are on a dating app where you don’t get to see the other person or use your real name (he is Sir and she is Lady), you need to correspond to get to know each other before you decide to meet. I really enjoyed this book, and now I want to pop open a bottle of bubbly and rewatch “You’ve Got Mail.” I received an advanced reader copy of this book from NetGalley for my honest review.

To Sir, With Love is an utterly adorable rom-com! I was hooked by the end of the first page. I fell in love with Gracie immediately. Gracie is working hard to save her family’s business while searching for her Prince Charming. She meets a man who she feels is the one on a dating app, but there’s a small problem, she hasn’t actually met him yet. As her feelings for Sir grow stronger she starts to see her rival Sebastian in a different light. Finding out who Sir really is was a little bit predictable but was still heartwarming nonetheless. The side characters were also enjoyable and I was glad to see that everything ended happy for everyone. This was the first book I’ve read by Lauren Layne and now I can’t wait to read more of her work.

Review: Gracie Cooper strives to keep the peace in her family (classic middle child), so when her father dies, she sets aside her art school dreams to take over his champagne store. The store’s profit margins are squeezed tight despite best efforts and to add to it, corporation headed by handsome Sebastian Andrews has proposed a buyout…multiple times but Gracie can’t bear to sell her father’s legacy.

Overwhelmed and not wanting to disappoint her friends or family, Gracie seeks support from someone she’s never met—the faceless “Sir”, with whom she connected on a blind dating app. Gracie finds herself slowly falling for Sir online, she has no idea she’s already met him in real life…and they really can’t stand each other.

This book was presented at Love is Blind meets You’ve Got Mail and I was sold! This book was warm, light and perfect for a Sunday evening. I loved the New York setting + talk of champagne, really it was swoony and the ending was perfect! Really, just go read this book…it was a Hallmark movie in book format.

Things I loved: I love a good side character and they were all fantastic. Gracie slowly evolving and finding her way. Cannoli the cat! The cooking class scene was my jam. Sebastian…do we have a new book boyfriend? Yes, I think we do.

Things I didn't care for: The family could have been a bit more supportive on first glance, but they rallied. I can’t tell how I feel about Gracie being very much into her fairytale…either it’s super cute or annoying. There was a lot of repeating of the fairytale (i.e. her perfect guy), which I could have down without. I’m a cynic, give me a break.

Thank you NetGalley and Gallery Books for this ARC in exchange for my honest opinion. To Sir, With Love will be released on June 29th, make sure to look out for it!

To Sir, with Love is a perfectly fine book. That's probably the best and the worst thing I can say about it. The You've Got Mail vibes add in a cozy dose of nostalgia with a modern twist, the champagne shop is a charming setting, but the plot felt repetitive and the fairy tale obsession is so not my thing, despite my love of happily-ever-afters. I guess I like my romance with more grit and less fairy dust.

No particular aspect was especially bad, but at the same time, nothing was groundbreaking. The ending is a foregone conclusion from just the synopsis of the book. Which is 99% true in the entire romance genre, but in this case, there was no room for guessing or surprises. This is my first Lauren Layne book and while I would definitely read more by her, I hope some of her other stories are less uber-feminine. Loving stilettos and pink aren't the only hallmarks of womanhood...

This romance felt like a classic rom-com movie in the best way! Atmospheric New York setting, small shop owner vs. big corporate overlord, You've Got Mail vibes brought into 2021--I was just so impressed start to finish. The letters between Lady and Sir were especially cute with the most clever banter. I love Lauren Layne's writing; her books always leave me smiling and swooning and ready for the next thing she writes!

This was such a cute story. I was smiling the whole time while reading this book. Really appreciated the fact that all characters are in their 30s, but a lot of them still didn't really know what to do with their lives. It was a relief to read a love story that's not an insta-love or insta-lust. Loved this enemies-to-love while being friends-to-love story at the same time.

SOOOO CUTE. What a fun rom-com. Not steamy at alllll and very light on the romance but overall super cute & a great, quick read. Loved the dialogue & cast of characters!!!

This was a lovely read and I really liked that it was an updated take on You’ve Got Mail.
I felt Gracie’s character was very relatable and throwing in the concept of her having a Disney perfect scenario in her head of how love is, is actually quite accurate.
Dating during this age is hard and I think this captures it well, but also proves that you can’t beat that instant connection and chemistry seeing someone face to face.
An easy read that is heartwarming.

I loved every minute of reading this book and was so very sorry to come to the end! Lauren Layne pays homage to the great Nora Ephron (and the predecessors Ephron herself paid homage to!) in this update of You've Got Mail. Gracie and Sebastian (such a sexy name) circle each other in a cut-throat game of real estate cat and mouse, while Lady and Sir find solace in each other's quiet and anonymous online companionship. You can practically feel the leaves falling from the trees as summer's glow turns to autumn pumpkin lattés and Lady and Sir battle the sense of disloyalty growing in each as Gracie and Sebastian segue from enemies, to friends, and then. . . .? I received the ARC in electronic format, but To Sir, with Love is a title I'll want to own in paper for my keeper shelf.
