I received this novel as an ARC from NetGalley. Even though I knew exactly what would happen by the end of this book because it follows the same trajectory as the 90s movie You’ve Got Mail, I still thoroughly enjoyed this quick and delightful read. Sebastian and Gracie are perfect together in this feel good romantic comedy.

I just love Lauren Layne's books. Her characters and stories just flow flawlessly. There's always wit, humor, and of course all the romance feels. A enemies to lover romance is one of my favorite tropes and Layne out did herself with this one.

This charming book is basically You've Got Mail in novel form, with a few changes here and there. It's a story of Lady and Sir, two people who found themselves on a dating app, corresponding as friends. It's also a story of Gracie and Sebastian, the former a small champagne shop owner and the latter a businessman who wants to buy her out of her lease (thus kind of forcing her to close shop). Anyone who's watched the movie knows exactly where this is going, but it was still so nice to read it. If ever, I would have wanted longer letters between Sir and Lady, but that aside, this novel was heartwarming and lovely. Definitely buying a finished copy because I need to have it on my shelf.

Thank you Netgalley and Gallery Books for providing me an e-arc to read and review!

To Sir, With Love by Lauren Layne is a a wonderfully sweet romantic comedy, and I absolutely loved it. I'm a long time fan of You've Got Mail, and To Sir, With Love modernized this fairy tale of mystery courtship from business rivals. It was warm and fuzzy and everything I love in a romantic comedy. I liked the main characters and their chemistry together perfect. The dialogue and banter between the characters was well-written and I appreciated Gracie's growth over the course of the novel. This one was definitely a low burn right up until the end and it made the ending all that more perfect. If you're a fan of romantic comedies or someone who loves stories along the lines of You've Got Mail, this one would be a perfect read. I definitely recommend picking this one up!

I received an ARC of this title from the publisher via NetGalley which did not affect the contents of my review. All opinions are honest and my own.

Fun, light the ideal read if you want something for a vacation or even if you just have time to spare.

Gracie is the middle child who by default runs the fledgling family business, a champagne store.
Sebastian Andrew’s is her nemesis at the helm of the company try to buy them out.

While she’s trying to avoid shutting the doors to a business she feels she should fight to keep open, she chats on a dating app with Sir. She has yet to see what Sir looks like, as that’s part of the experience. You don’t post anything to identify yourself physically, just exchange conversation to see if it’s a match first.

and im sure you can guess just who Sir is, right?

and it being compared to one of the best romcoms out there, of course this book is an amazing read hands down. just please do yourself a favor and read this book, im positive you will enjoy it.

To Sir, with Love by Lauren Layne was good to the last drop. This book stars Gracie who along with her brother and sister owns her family's champagne shop, Bubble & More, in midtown Manhattan. Gracie had dreams of pursuing art full time, but carries on her parents legacy by running their shop. Between being a busy shop owner and painting she also squeezes in messages to a mystery man "Sir" on a dating app.

This book was so fun and very sweet. Gracie loves fairytales and this one is a modern fairytale. I was grinning from ear to ear at the ending.

I loved this book SO much. I'm a very reactive reader when I'm reading something I love. I was reading this in the living room with my fam and they told me "No book makes anyone laugh or gasp that much." This one does! Gracie and Sebastian's relationship was so complicated and INTENSE. There was such an interesting contrast with the sweet words they'd type to each other to the harsh insults they'd say in real life. I felt like this book was one of the best examples of insta-love done right. It was insta-love, but it wasn't an instant recognition of love, which made it all the better. Gracie was also such a lovely, funny character with an amazing voice. I felt so connected to her at all times and I felt so attached, too! I genuinely cared about what happened to her in love and in career. Um, I also felt a little TOO similar...miss hopeless romantic waiting on the perfect connection...held a mirror right up with this book. Anyways, this book was full of swoon-worthy, frustrating just missed each other moments, and insightful discussions on family, career, fertility, and starting over. I'm so obsessed with this book and I know I'll be thinking about this for days (really, weeks) to come! If you like Tom Hanks, Meg Ryan, Alex Approximately, and amazing, funny, adorable rom-coms, this is for you!

Thank you to the publisher and Netgalley for an advanced copy of the book.

As someone who has seen "You've Got Mail" countless times, this book was the perfect treat. The characters are entertaining with rich back-stories.

If you are looking for a fun beach read this summer, I would be sure to pick up this book.

Im fairly certain I will gush about this until release day just to bump up the hype!

I adore Lauren Layne. She blows us away in this novel with more NYC love and an adorable story. I laughed out loud. I cried. I SWOONED!

This book is perfection for those who wants a closed door love story with all the emotions. Thanks for such great feels! I needed this one.

This book. It is... *sigh.*

You've Got Mail is, hands down, the best rom-com movie ever. (With a close runner-up being A Princess Bride. It's proven by science.) I've never read a Lauren Layne book before this, but when I saw the comparison to You've Got Mail, I knew I had to read it.

I'm not exaggerating when I say this book made me (almost literally) swoon. I had that light, fluttery feeling in my chest that you get when your partner flirts with you in the early days, when you see them unexpectedly, when they pull you close to kiss you after a long day. I cannot tell you the last book that made me feel that way, and I read a ludicrous amount of rom-coms.

If I could give it more than five stars, I would. Even now, I know I'm not doing it justice. Enemies to lovers is one of my all time favorite tropes, but I admit authors sometimes struggle with it. Had you asked me a week ago, I would've said the best story featuring that trope was The Hating Game by Sally Thorne. I loved To Sir, With Love more. Way more. Lauren Layne did everything right. It's gorgeously written and hilarious. The love interest is attractive and in no way is he abusive or stalkerish. It's a slow burn but still tantalizing. There's yearning without either person coming off as clueless. It is just phenomenal and I have no criticisms.

I cannot wait to buy it and read it again. I will be in agony for everyone who hasn't read this until the pub date!

4.5/5

You know when a story so beautiful it makes your heart aches? That was I feel when I read To Sir, with Love.

The yearning between Gracie and Sebastian, or should I say, between Gracie and Sir is very very sweet and powerful and off of the chart, everything I wanted from a romance book.

Gracie Copper believes in fairy tale, love at the first sight and happily ever after. So when she laid her eyes at Sebastian Matthews that day, she feels their connection, even when he’s the very opposite from her idea of Prince Charming. Turns out he's the man that had been mailing her and wanted her wine shop, her nemesis. So here's the story of their golden banters.

I found Gracie is a relatable character, how she became the glue in her family business mainly, the one sacrificing everything, even when she have her own dreams. I also found it endearing that she believes still and won't let go on fairy tales and prince charming and HEA, even if she may look strange. It's part of her uniqueness.

Sebastian is definitely a swoon-worthy character, cool and bold exterior but also so tender and soft. So soft, you should prepare yourself because you definitely will fall for his character.

Last but not least, To Sir, with Love is one of a kind, a very well written and thoughtful romance with dashes of fairy dust and magic that will suck you in from the very first page.

The queen of romance has done it again!

If you like enemies to lovers a la you've got mail/ pride and prejudice..Read this one.
I found myself smiling, crying and gushing over Gracie and Sebastian ..Loving every letter sent between Sir and lady.
This book left me with a fuzzy warm feeling ...and not from the champagne.
Read this book if you love romance...and maybe watch Pride and prejudice or you've got mail after it.
That's what I'll do.

If you know the films, you knew what was coming, but I couldn’t help but love it all the same! I loved that it was CLEAN! Gracie was a lovely romantic and Sebastian was never really the ruthless business guy. It was so easy to picture those eyes!

I was provided with an ARC of this book by NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.

I love a modern day retelling of You've Got Mail and this sucked me in from the first page. Gracie and Sébastian have perfect witty banter and Gracie is such a relatable fully fleshed out character it's impossible to find yourself not rooting for her. It's a story about perseverance and discovering your own dreams no matter the cost.

Absolutely loved TO SIR, WITH LOVE. Anything Lauren Layne is an auto-read for me, but Gracie and Sebastian’s story is easily one of the best books I’ve read. No one does Rom-Com like Lauren, and this one had me swooning, pining, laughing, and crying. 5/5 for sure.

✨mood: feeling so warm and light.✨

any book, just a book— specifically a romantic comedy written by Lauren Layne will rarely ever disappoint me.

one of my favorite things about Lauren Layne’s books besides the obvious is the fact how she manages to write the simplest plots and yet, make them so full of emotions that one would feel while watching a disney movie.
i absolutely love the way she uses New York city as her setting in most of her books and how she also incorporates girls + guys friendships. that— just gives me pure and utter joy.

the essence of To Sir, with Love was no different from the essence present in most of her works, this book gave me the same soft and happy vibes i always get whenever i read a book by Lauren Layne. even though most of the time, her books always revolve around the cliché, and sometimes her stories are cheesy, but that’s what i really like and enjoy about this side of romance that she shows, something that’s not so subtle, but at the same it kind of is.

i loved almost everything about this book, from the main characters, Gracie Cooper and Sebastian Andrews to the side characters and the entire little universe that this book and story contained. it had the perfect elements of a romantic comedy and there was never really a time where the story fell through or when the plot weakened. Gracie and Sebastian had a lot of swooning moments along with great and active banter. another thing i really liked about this book was how it was not (as much i wanted it to be) completely dedicated to romance—actually that is one thing i liked but also disliked at the same time because as much i loved how the story focused on Gracie’s platonic relationships because the side characters were all written great, however, this is a romantic comedy so i wanted for it to be at least 90% of just soft, soft, beautiful romance and development between Gracie and Sebastian's relationship.
the only reason why i didn’t rate it as high as i could have is because the genre of this book is new adult romance, though the romance was more like pg and i didn’t mind that, but all i wanted was more moments between Gracie and Sebastian as a couple. for me, the book ended way too quickly when there could have been further development shown between Gracie and Sebastian as a couple and more.

but all in all, Lauren Layne’s stories are always a treat to read, and her characters always manage to win my heart and make me think about finally getting into a relationship.. kinda and living in New York city.

3.5 stars rounded up to 4!

Gracie, a hopeless romantic, is very conflicted in both life and love. She runs a neighborhood Champagne Shop, which was passed down from her late father, that's on the brink of failure. Gracie feels responsible for carrying out his dream, but also desires to pursue her own dreams. After pining for a fairytale dream of a romance, she finds herself in love with two men.

I thoroughly enjoyed the banter between Gracie and Sebastian, but I wanted more! I love an enemy to lovers story and would've loved to see more of this! The messages between Gracie and her mystery man were both sweet and cheesy. It was a fun, easy read, but deeper character development and substance would've gone a long way. As far as the romances go, I would've loved a slower build-up to feel more realistic. However, it was a fun, heartwarming read with the happy ending that Gracie deserved! Definitely has Hallmark meets You've Got Mail vibes!

I LOVED this modern day take on You've Got Mail! Gracie Cooper finds herself living a life she always thought she wanted while waiting for her Prince Charming to walk around the corner, but when she's torn between keeping her family's Champagne shop open or accepting a buyout from a corporation (represented by a handsome and arrogant Sebastian Andrews), she finds herself turning to one of her connections from a blind dating app to escape.

This story was heartwarming, and I found myself relating to Gracie in so many ways. I loved the ending, and I can't wait for others to read this one!

Absolutely loved this book! A perfect modern twist to You've Got Mail and sucked me in almost immediately.

Grace Cooper owns and operates her family champagne shop in NYC after taking over once her parents passed however, a business mogul who owns the building wants to buy out the shop's lease and turn her world upside down. This story is about self-discovery, love, and finding your passions in life. It was a great rom-com/beach read that was easy to consume. The author made you fall in love with all the characters and allowed you to picture NYC and Grace Cooper's life that she has created for herself.

I loved this book! It was a quick, easy read. I fell in love with all of the characters. I love how the author incorporates everything into this book, and ties it together so lovely at the end!

SPOILER!!

I love that I thought I had it figured out, but I kept questioning it throughout the whole book. Sebastian-sir. Ugh. SWOON. I loved how fierce Gracie was about what she wanted, and that she refused to settle. I’m glad she finally got to live her dream.
