I really enjoyed this cozy mystery set in a small town in Georgia. The MC owns and operates a bed & breakfast, and is attending a wedding expo when one of her friends is found dead in a wedding prop cake on stage. Nina (the MC B&B owner) decides to help investigate and find out who killed her friend and why. I especially liked the interaction between Nina and Harry, and hope to see that relationship blossom in later books in this series. I want to thank the author, the publisher, and Netgalley for giving me an e-copy of this book, in return for an honest review.

Anna Gerard’s Georgia B & B Mystery series is one of my favorite series to read and the third installment, Peaches and Schemes, does not disappoint. Nina Fleet and friend, Harry, are on the case again when mutual friend (and former love interest of Harry’s), Roxanne, turns up dead at a town expo. I really enjoyed Peaches and Schemes and how Nina and Harry solve the case. I love the twists and turns in Peaches and Schemes and the cozy mystery feel. I also love how the series has progressed with Nina and Harry’s relationship. Thank you to NetGalley and the Publisher for the opportunity to read this book. My review is also on Goodreads.

First, I have to say … I liked the second half of the book much better than the first – more action-packed and interesting.

What I Liked: Peaches & Schemes was amusing and fast-paced. The third book in the Georgia B&B mystery series, it can definitely stand alone. But I do wish I had read the first two, because there were some relationships between characters that I didn’t understand as well as I would have liked.

I liked the dynamic between Nina and Harry, their conversations made me laugh.

What I struggled with was the descriptions of things … they felt unnecessarily long. For example, when the main character was taking a floral arranging class… the tutorial on that felt drawn out. This wouldn’t be a big deal, except I feel like it happened often throughout the book, and it dragged along a bit.

I liked the mystery and there were unexpected twists, so that is always enjoyable in a cozy mystery.

The book ended on a somewhat cliffhanger-ish … no spoilers, but it at least gave partial resolution to something that happened a few chapters before. I imagine we’ll find out the rest in book #4!

Nina has decided to boost her B&B by signing up for the Bridal Expo, she finds herself in a booth next to a local florist, who gives her some useful tips on how to set up and behave during the day long event (he is also prepared to watch her booth if she needs to head off for a few minutes!), he is really sweet and so Nina is surprised when one of the organisers has a spat with him, but then the same lady has a spat with the other organiser (which Nina inadvertently over hears), even so Nina is shocked when the 2nd organiser is killed and somewhat dramatically displayed!

Now along with her lodger, Harry Westcott, Nina needs to find out what happened to her friend, but as she looks deeper everything becomes murkier and the worry is that the wrong person is being set up to take the blame, or end up dead as well!

A Georgia B&B Mystery Book 3

Nina is spending the day at the Bridal Expo to drum up more business for her B&B. During the Bridal Fashion Show, her good friend Roxanna falls out of a huge cake prop dead onto the stage. Nina is determined to find out what happened.

I loved this book! It has fun characters, great storytelling, something exciting is always happening, and the love story between Nina and Harry is charming. Everything a cozy mystery should have! I’m looking forward to reading more of the series!

Thank you to NetGalley and Crooked Lane Books for the ARC of this book in exchange for my honest review!

Peaches and Schemes is the third installment in the Georgia B&B Mystery series. Thankfully for Nina Fleet, owner of the Fleet House B&B, the action takes place elsewhere this time. While trying to drum up business by offering wedding packages, Ms Fleet stumbles into a crime scene at a wedding expo. As usual, Nina feels she has to investigate.

While this wasn't my favorite, I do like that the characters are developing nicely and evolving with each new book. It's hard to put my finger on what I didn't care for, maybe it's just little things that add up to a general "meh". I think Harry's role was a bit lacking, and I didn't really care for the victim. I also feel there was a bit too much going on in the background. a few plot lines that hopefully will be expanded on in future writings. Overall, I did enjoy Peaches and Schemes, and look forward to reading the next in this series.
Thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for providing this title in exchange for an honest review.

What I love most about this series is not only does it offer a great mystery with good twists, it also has clever nuggets of humour mixed in with some very likeable characters.

Just like its predecessors, book 3 was an enjoyable read.

A wedding expo is the last place you would expect someone to end up dead, unless it is from shock at the prices of some of those venues, cakes, or dresses. No one expected to see one of the organizers dead in a giant wedding cake, certainly not Nina Fleet, owner and host of Fleet House B&B was just looking for a way to capitalize on her lovely establishment during the off-season, and she wasn’t looking to be embroiled in a “who-done-it.” On the plus side, she seems to be getting along quite well with Harry, the would be owner of the Inn but for his not being mentioned in his aunt’s will. Harry is quite the character and adds a bit of humor to balance out the industrious and careful Nina. Well at least she tries to be careful and she works well with local law enforcement. As with most cozy main characters, she tries to help Virgie and seek justice for her new friend Roxanna. Highly entertaining with plenty of clues, some of which cause misdirection in typical cozy style. I had no idea until the big reveal which makes it a great read.

Better late than never, I hope.. Covid brain slowed my reading this year and delayed my review for this wonderful cozy by several months. This was another fine outing for B&B owner Nina Fleet and her boarder Harry as a close friend of theirs is murdered practically in front of their eyes at a wedding expo they are both attending.. As they become entangled in the case is there hope for a happily ever after? It's well worth the time to find out what life has in store for these two!

An engaging cozy mystery with plenty of twists centred on a murder at a wedding planning expo. The third book in a series that is quickly becoming a favourite.

This book offers humour as well as a great mystery so I raced through it! The pace is great and the plot is just the right balance of credible and fanciful. I love the characters and the relationships between the three main ones in particular. Yes, it is a cozy mystery but it is also really funny.

My rating: 1 of 5 stars, I couldn't get in to it.

Book 3 in the series.

Honestly, I think Covid has killed my cozy vibe. I'm just not really liking any lately. I couldn't concentrate long enough to finish this one.

Nina Fleet decides to offer her B and B as a wedding venue. She signs up for a Bridal expo as a way of marketing her new idea. During the expo, one of Nina's friends dies in a freak accident but was it really an accident?

This mystery is well-plotted and moves at a quick pace. There is no shortage of suspects and several well-placed red herrings. I did not figure out who the culprit was until the big reveal. The characters are complex, realistic, and entertaining. I recommend this book to cozy mystery fans.

All thoughts and opinions are my own, and in no way have I been influenced by anyone.

I literally flew through this book! I couldn't stop reading. This series is one of my favorites and I love each and every installment a little more.

Nina Fleet, the owner of a B&B, is attending a local Bridal event. She has reluctantly decided to host receptions at her B&B. However, the Event is capped off by murder! And the book gets better from there. I love Harry, an eccentric resident of the inn, and of course, Mattie, Nina's dog. The author develops the characters so well I can actually see them!

Thank you to NetGalley and Crooked Lane Books for the opportunity to read and provide an honest review of this book.

Nina Fleet owns a B&B in Georgia, peach country. She’s new at this but is starting to have success. Of course, she can’t rely on summer visitors alone. Each year a bridal expo is held in town to showcase florists, photographers, the latest in bridal gowns, bridesmaid dresses your best friends won’t hate you for, catering, and more. Nina hopes the more means destination weddings and honeymooners to stay at the B&B.

There was a kerfuffle when she first bought the house. It seems the woman who died had promised to leave it to Harry in her will but never got around to actually putting it in writing. Nina and Harry have come to an agreement. He can stay for a month, rent-free in exchange for dropping his claim. As the thirty days are coming to a close, Nina finds she likes having someone else in the house.

At the bridal expo, she’s surprised to find Harry, an actor, has done the voice over for the runway show. Having just found out her ex is getting married again, Nina isn’t much in the mood for wedding dresses but watches most of the show before taking a break. When she comes back, it’s just in time for the big finale – a faux wedding cake with a surprise inside.

When opened, it’s a surprise all right. Instead of the planned floral display, a woman falls out, dead. Although she’s been a friend to Nina, the same can’t be said for everyone else. The list of suspects is long and varied.

Nina goes to her house to pick up her dog and keep him until his new home can be found. And that’s just the beginning—a suspect is arrested but released on bail and disappears, there are attempts on Nina’s life, the victim’s house is trashed in a search, the victim’s ex-husbands might be involved, then it gets worse. Can Nina and Harry work together to find the killer before the killer strikes again?

This is book three in the series, all reviewed here. Nina and her Aussie, Mattie, are fun alone but add in Harry and his money-making schemes, and it’s a whole other level of antics going on. This is a series I look forward to reading. With a B&B setting, there are always new characters to meet and maybe murder.
