What a sweet little nocturnal adventure! I'd love to receive my own invitation! Full Moon would make a great addition to any family's bedtime story library.
Full Moon is a cute picture book for children. It is about some rabbits gathering things in their backpacks and secretly making something in their burrows. They invite all the other animals of the forest to their celebration. They let off paper lanterns and celebrate the full moon. The illustrations were beautiful and we talked about what we saw, but the story itself was a miss for us. There was no meaning in this story or explanation as to why they were letting off the paper lanterns except that it was a full moon. Besides talking about the illustrations and other celebrations they had been a part of, there was no interaction with this story. Unfortunately this book fell flat for us and it is not one that we would be reading again.
During the full-moon, the little gray bunnies have a surprise for the other forest animals. This is a sweet story of kindness, sharing, and enjoying the beauty of nature.
Full Moon is a simple, gently cute story about bunnies preparing for a big event - a full moon celebration, to which they invite all the different animals of the forest, and lantern launch. The artwork is charming and clear, though the text is a little flat and not as whimsical as the illustrations. A cute bedtime read-aloud kind of story.
Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for the advance review copy!
This was a very whimsical and cute children’s book. I loved the artwork as well. I would buy it for the children in my life especially those kids who love animals.
This is a sweet picture book about a fluffle of rabbits busily working away in their hidden warren. They are eagerly waiting until dark to set their plan in motion. When the sun has set, five little rabbits, each donning a backpack, hop out of their burrow and disappear into the darkness. What can they be up to? Inside each backpack is something round, bright, and beautiful. Whatever can they be?
Back inside the underground workshop other rabbits are busily preparing invitations to hand out to friends. They want everyone to come join in a happy celebration they are preparing. These guests include: feathered friends, the mouse family, and even foxy fox. All the animals happily accept their invitations and are eager to witness something very special that will take place as the full moon shines brightly in the sky. The reader is invited to join the animals too. Will you attend?
The author/ illustrator has done a masterful job of creating suspense and a sense of wonderment as she unveils a fun event where everyone can gather together. The illustrations in "Full Moon" are simple and the text is brief which leaves lots of room for speculation, discussion and ideas to flow as the story is being shared. I especially love the fact that all the animals are invited ... even the fox. I highly recommend this book.
A riveting tale of the celebration of the moon. The rabbits are busy getting the celebration started. There is anticipation and community as the animals gather together. The illustrations are simple with simplicity of wording.
A special thank you to Princeton Architectural Press and Netgalley for the ARC and the opportunity to post an honest review.
A delightful, calming, rhythmic experience, filled with wonder and discovery—perfect for little readers.
I really liked how simple and somewhat magical this book was. I read this to my son and he really liked the idea of the grey rabbits making things in their rabbit hole. He was excited to see the rabbits little production line they had going on. I thought this book was really sweet and wonderfully illustrated. There really is something magical about the forest and the full moon and I thought the concept of the full moon celebration was really fun. I enjoyed it but I admit that I think there could have been more meat to the story. It was simple, but it was close to bordering being overly simple. Still, I would read this to my children again, but not for long. The simplicity of the story would be lost on them as they grow older. Would definitely recommend for younger children.
I voluntarily reviewed this after receiving a free copy.
Illustrated in a more abstract style, this book is a cute story of some rabbits putting on a full moon celebration. It is whimsical and endearing.
The rabbit illustrations in this book are literally the cutest! Their little carrot backpacks are hilarious! I like the fact that there are few words on each page. Their factory is very organized and their little orange vests and hardhats are adorable. I love that they did something special for all the animals in the forest.
A great choice for a bedtime story! Easy to read, short & sweet. Filled with lovely pictures that will have you waiting for the next full moon to show your own littles. This would make for a great baby shower gift or just to have on hand for your own kiddos.
I loved this book. It depicts an amazing tale of a the bunnies celebrating the Full Moon along with other animals of the forest. The pictures are evocative and whimsical. I almost wished I could join the celebration. I recommend it to any child, as the language is pretty easy, as well as to adults that need something easy to rest their eyes on before the succumb to sleep.
This is such a amazing beautifuly story. It was so fun to read this for my daugther, she loved it so much. I will buy this for sure!
Full Moon by Camilla Pintonato is a beautifully illustrated tale about a warren of rabbits who invite their forest friends to a celebratory viewing of the full moon. There were hints of the rabbits carrying something in their backpacks, but it never clearly showed what those items were until the end when the rabbits released paper lanterns into the sky. For me, this diminished the fact that the animals were all there to bask in the beauty of the full moon and the stars. . . the beauty of nature and sharing it with friends. I don't understand why the paper lanterns were necessary to the story since the main even is obviously the full moon.
I really liked the idea behind this book but I am really against Chinese lanterns and the damage that they can do to wildlife, pets and the environment so I was really sad that the author used these in the book, and even more sad that the rabbits in the book were the ones letting them go.
Such a shame as the book is well illustrated and well written but for that part above it is not one for me and I wish there was a different ending. It is 3 stars for the illustrations but I didn't like the plot as a parent as I think we should be protecting the environment, not littering it.
The pictures tell a lot of the story, but it is somewhat difficult to understand. The illustrations are adorable, but it was a very confusing story. My students did not like this book.
Er – the rabbits are excitedly getting ready for a full moon festival, upon which they intend to invite all the animals of the forest, and let off lots of paper lanterns. The end. So this, which aims to be the critters celebrating the full moon, admits the full moon isn't all that, and you have to pollute the forest skies with lanterns as well. From the blurb I think this was supposed to show the wonder of the passing day, dusk, dawn and all in between, but it teaches more about flyering an event, and about mass lantern launches, with all the attendant problems they cause. The text, such as it is, wants to ask questions of us and get us guessing what the bunnies are doing, while the artwork is nowhere near good enough for us to tell. Not one to rush out and buy. One and a half stars.
A fun and sweet story about five rabbits and the full moon. The artwork was cute and the story was short and simple. It would make a great read for kids!
*Thanks Netgalley and Princeton Architectural Press for sending me an arc in exchange for an honest review*
