This is based on the book of Proverbs, delving more into the book of the Bible. Joyce Meyers adds commentary to the verses throughout each chapter and asks questions that get you to think further on what you read, how to apply it to your life. I'd recommend, it's an easy read.

Another great book by Joyce Meyer. I always enjoy reading what she has to say. This one was a little different for me in regards to keeping my interest, but overall, I thought it was well written.

I received an arc copy of this book from Net Galley in exchange for my honest opinion of it. I do much enjoyed this study of the book of Proverbs. I love how Joyce did a chapter for each one and explained it so thoroughly.

I enjoy all of Joyce Meyers books. I don't have them all as she has over 200, but I would love to. This book didn't disappoint as it was well written, and bible based. It's based on the book of proverbs, and she explains each one in depth with examples. This is great for a daily read to increase your depth and breadth of knowledge of the proverbs.

In Search of Wisdom takes the reader through the book of Proverbs, chapter by chapter. In typical Joyce Meyer fashion, Meyer does not shy away from the challenging parts of Proverbs. She provides an honest interpretation of the proverbs and shares real life situations to accompany the verses. This was a well done book—the information was clear and relatable, Meyer doesn’t sugar coat the proverbs, and looks at the proverbs from a historical and Christian lens.

I’ve read many of Joyce Meyer’s books—I absolutely adore her—and I was looking forward to this book. However, and I hate to even say it, but I didn’t take anyway anything groundbreaking. This is a solid book on the book of Proverbs, don’t get me wrong. If you’ve never studied them, then buy Meyer’s book! It’s succinct, clear, and covers everything it should. I believe my hopes were too high and that Meyer would impart new understanding. But perhaps that is the beauty of Proverbs—they’re not that complex to understand, but some are challenging to live by. There were parts of the book that were stronger than others and in some places, I would have liked an application to our world.

Overall, this is a solid book on Proverbs, especially for people who have never studied Proverbs deeply. Meyer’s writing is accessible and flows well. She supports her points with countless references to scripture.

I was first introduced to Joyce Meyer on tv years ago, while flipping through channels and exercising on on an elliptical machine at home. At some point, I mentioned her to my mom and learned she'd gone to an event with some of her friends. Since then, I listen to her podcasts periodically. So, that's why I read this book. I learned more about Proverbs although I wouldn't say I was inspired or moved by what I learned. Overall, I enjoyed learning more about the book of Proverbs and getting Joyce's summary and highlights.

I have always enjoyed Joyce Meyers teaching through books. In Search of Wisdom you get to dive into Proverbs from Joyce Meyers perspective. This is a great book!

Joyce Meyer is a well known preacher and teacher of the Word and is well versed in Scripture. I own several of Joyce Meyer’s books and I am always inspired and left with a sense of peace and tranquility after having read them. Her latest book, In Search of Wisdom is no different and is a lesson for us on the Book of Proverbs.

She begins In Search of Wisdom by relaying to us the seven gifts of the Holy Spirit. Essential is the gift of wisdom. Wisdom in the Bible is the Spirit immersing us in the knowledge of God and leaving us with good judgment. Proverbs is a part of the Wisdom Literature containing 31 chapters and graces it’s reader with lessons on morals and right living and is primarily attributed to King Solomon. What Joyce Meyer does is break down the Book of Proverbs for us and how it relates to our everyday lives now in this time and space. As always, her writing is persuasive and easy to digest giving the reader much to contemplate. In every chapter she leaves us with a question based on that particular proverb allowing us to examine our hearts and ponder how this is relative in our life.

Every book Joyce Meyer has written leaves us with a greater perspective on how to live a better, more productive Christian life. In Search of Wisdom is no different. This book is a wonderful addition to her other works and one I’m sure will benefit anyone who reads it.

Joyce Meyer is one of my favorite authors. Her message shines through to the reader in vivid yet approachable language.

Joyce Meyer's book In Search of Wisdom was a truly inspiring, life-changing experience for me. I never realized that that the chapters in the Book of Proverbs contained so many guideposts, truths and suggestions for living a more fulfilling and illuminating life. Joyce also has a way of not on presenting the central topics covered in each of the chapters but giving illustrations from her own personal experiences to illuminate them with a modern day perspective. It's impossible to live in this world without admitting that now, more so than ever, humanity is in desperate need of guidance and wisdom. It is crucial that society as a whole receives help before things go from bad to worse. In Search of Wisdom is an attempt to wake up it's readers to this fact, and guide us through the process of learning what wisdom truly is and how to go about obtaining it. How do we fix the mess we've made of our lives and each other?

As it happens, the answers we seek have already been provided and are just waiting for us to admit that we need help and humble ourselves before God, open our bibles, and turn to the book of Proverbs and study, ask questions, absorb the words and messages so we may understand and begin to walk the path that leads us to where we want to be.

The study of Proverbs is built upon seven foundational principles that are outlined in the Introduction to In Search of Wisdom. These pillars are as follows: Understanding, Prudence, Knowledge Discretion, Discernment and The Fear Of The Lord. Grasping an understanding of each of these words / principles is foundational to understanding the book of Proverbs. Each chapter of this book is dedicated to one pillar, citing specific verses with context to aid in the understanding of each principle which is great especially if you're relatively new to the study.. Meyer provides some of her interpretation and a few words of her own.

Personally, Proverbs is my go to section for comfort, strength, and reminders that God has a plan and will protect us if we are truly working towards following Him and worshipping Him through our lives. With that in mind I will say I was very excited to read through this book and had high hopes from the start. Whether or not those expectations were meant really depends on what it is you're looking for.

If you're looking for a collection of the main pillars of Proverbs as a reminder for yourself that you can carry everywhere and pull out when opening your Bible is not an option, then this book is great because that's really all it is. If you're looking for in-depth study and wonderfully crafted advice or anything like that, this book isn't for you. Honestly the greatness of this book is the verses that are pulled from The Bible. when it comes to the writing in between there isn't anything that stood out or was profound by any means. It just sort of fell flat and you're better off turning to another book on the study of Proverbs for further aid.

I have been listening to many wonderful Christian books lately, and as I tried to read this one, and study the book of Proverbs I found that my heart just wasn't in it. I read only 15 %. I may try again later if given the opportunity as I know Joyce Meyer is a well-respected author.

I'm a big fan of Joyce Meyer's books and Mrs. Meyer's book In Search of Wisdom is a real blessing. In Search of Wisdom is Mrs. Meyer's commentary on the book of Proverbs. The book contains an Introduction, an Conclusion, and 31 chapters. Each chapter covers a different chapter of Proverbs and Mrs. Meyer's explains how she sees the chapter and what she believes God taught her through that chapter. Joyce Meyer delivers again and I was hooked from the very first page. I love the way Joyce has a caring and positive attitude that she expresses in her language as writing this book. Even though this info is deep and powerful she still explains everything with care. This book is clearly what the doctor ordered whenever you feel confused and just asking why frequently questioning on what is happening in the world. This book will definitely open your eyes to all of the possibilities imaginable. Joyce is also very popular amongst our library community and we are already getting requests for this book so it will do very well in our collection.

We will consider adding this title to our Self Help collection at our library. That is why we give this book 5 stars.

Joyce Meyer is a author that never disappoints. This is a very insightful book that is full of wonderful wisdom. This is a must read for everyone.

In Search of Wisdom reminds us that the Proverbs are considered the Bible’s book of wisdom, and it deals with both the practical and the spiritual issues of life. We are reminded too that wisdom of our most valuable assets. We are reminded too that in order to follow the wisdom Proverbs offers, we need to be willing to obey God’s Word no matter how we feel, what we think, or what we want.


We are reminded too that wisdom is both an Old and New Testament Principle. It is pointed out too that Understanding refers to the rational rather than the emotional, and it is closely linked to knowledge.




Prudence is also defined as forethought (thinking ahead) and foresight (seeing ahead). It is also the ability to use reason to govern and discipline ourselves.



Discernment is also defined, it is defined as to discern means to distinguish or separate so as to investigate; to examine, scrutinize, or question.




It is also pointed out that Fearing the Lord does not mean we should be afraid of the Lord, as the word fear would indicate in today’s usage, for He is good and would never harm us. However, we should have a reverential fear and worshipful awe of the mighty God we serve.




It is pointed out in this book too that parents can be a source of wisdom. We are also reminded of the importance of not giving into the enticement of sinful people.



The importance of making listening and following wisdom a priority in our lives is also highlighted.




The importance of having friends who build you up, rather than tear you down is also highlighted.




We are also reminded of the importance of living our lives with an awareness that God is ever present.


We are reminded too of the importance of a balance between work and rest. We are reminded too that love is a living thing. It must be active rather than stagnant.




I give In Search of Wisdom, five out of five stars!
