This book was the definition of charming. It was fun, easy read, and really made me look forward to Spring! Loved it
Happily ever after ending? Check.
Sweet romance? Check.
Couple who respects each other? Check.
Minimal drama? Check.
No uncomfortably detailed sex/physical attraction scenes? Check.
The Garden of Little Rose is such a sweet story. It’s about a woman who is scared to trust again after experiencing a shock in her family years ago, and how she works through it in order to move forward.
If you want a feel-good book where everything works out, this is your jam. The only parts I wasn’t wild about were the drama at the end (I know, I know, there always needs to be a little drama), but this scenario just confused me. It seemed like it was just there for the sake of drama, and didn’t advance the story forward, in my humble opinion.
More friendships: The main character had a very strong friendship with two women, and in the beginning, it seemed like they would play a big role in the book. Then they kind of disappeared for a while and we didn’t hear them mentioned again until the end of the book.
Also, more gardening! I would have loved to read more about the gardening restoration work the main character does.
Loved:
* Happily ever after ending
* Clean romance
* Small town/community vibes
3.5 stars, rounded up to four

This was a lovely light read, such an enjoyable story and lovely characters, perfect start to spring (cannot wait for that) fresh starts and more happy reading. Just a beautiful story, with nice writing and a lovely chance to escape for a few hours
Thanks to netgalley and the publisher for a free copy for an honest opinion
What a charming little book this was.
Flora is a restorer of gardens and does very well at her job.
Flora and a few friends are staying in a hotel on a remote Scottish Island and friends being friends they dare each other to do something. Her dare is to ask someone to be her plus one for her friend's wedding . Against her better judgement she does it and to her utter surprise he says yes.
I absolutely loved the descriptions of the gardens and how she lovingly fixed them up.
I want to visit the island with the sand, sea air and hear the crashing waves while smelling the delightful flowers in the garden.
Will a relationship develop or will it just be a one night date?
Fun book that is a relaxing read!

I was given a complimentary copy of this book.
Thank you.
All opinions expressed are my own.
This book includes some lovely elements, but they never quite coalesce into a story. The plot is tissue-paper thin, and the character development non-existent. "It was all just a misunderstanding" is not a story-worthy problem.
The writing quality is good, but too much time is spent on mundane details rather than on the characters facing obstacles and overcoming them. The only "obstacle" in the book is cleared up by a five-minute conversation at the end. Flora and Mac's relationship never really develops beyond the "I really like you" stage, yet at the end they're declaring their undying love for each other. They haven't done anything to earn that supposed love, so as a reader, I have no faith that it will last.
This author shows a lot of promise, but this book is not ready for prime time.
Thanks, NetGalley, for the ARC I received.
This was just a perfect for me in this moment
I love the all the feels this book gave me. This was just a feel good story. 4 stars
I enjoyed this book. It was written so I could see the garden and the guest houses. I’d love to visit this kind of place. I like that the girl got the nerve to ask a stranger to be a plus one at her friends wedding. This was a story of not waiting to hear what the other person said before jumping to the wrong conclusion.
Thank you to NetGalley, the publishing house and the author for the opportunity to read a complimentary advance reader copy of this book in return for a review based upon my honest opinion.
What an enjoyable read. This is the first book I have read by this author, but it will not be the last. I really enjoyed the storyline and the characters, even though I thought the main characters, Flora and Mac, both made some odd and what felt like immature decisions, I still enjoyed the story and the backdrop. The fictional island of Alana, Scotland, was beautifully described and the gardens seemed lovely.
This book is a light refreshing read, perfect after the last few heavy reads that I have just finished. I will definitely look for more works by this author. This would be a great beach read, for me it was a snowstorm read.
Thanks to the publisher and Netgalley for an early review copy.
I felt this story was a real “will they/won’t they” type.
when Flora and her friends go for a Hen Weekend to a Scottish Island Spa, Flora meets Mac.
Between them, they are attracted to one another.
But as her friends decide to “help” her, for Flora, it seems that there’s a change happening, one which neither she or Mac were expecting.
This story had everything, love, loss, along with the effects on lives a betrayal of trust has. Also, how a garden has the power to heal wounds we have caused by those we’ve lost.
I felt that the way the scenery was described was beautiful as well as the seasons.
I loved the little girl and how she started to communicate with Flora.
Thanks toNetGalley for allowing me to read this book in return for an honest review.
Although this book is well written and makes one want to dash up to the Scottish Isles, I honestly struggled with it.
We meet Flora as she travels to a hen weekend on a remote Scottish island. There she meets Mac and he accepts a dare to accompany her to the actual wedding in a weeks time.
We follow the well named Flora, who is a specialist in garden restoration and design, as she is invited to restore a long neglected manor house garden on the island.
This is the story of Flora and Mac as they discover healing and restoration in their own lives as they restore Rose’s Garden.
An easy, quick read for lovers of romantic fiction.
The Garden of Little Rose is a cosy read about horticulturist Flora and how she finds love on the back of a dare. This book was a very enjoyable read with some gorgeous settings which immediately give the reader a sense of place and gave me a sense of relaxation. The details are rich without being boring and there's plenty of emotional conflict urging the reader to turn the page. The characters in this book were lovely although there were times I wished Flora and Mac would just talk to each other honestly.
Flora works as a restorer of historical gardens. She is very knowledgeable and passionate about her vocation.
While on a hen party with her friends on the Scottish island of Alana, she meets Mac. She dares him to be her
plus one at her friend's forthcoming wedding.. He accepts the dare. Flora fancies Mac but there are rumours
that he is not quite available. Flora returns to the island and is once again intrigued by the hidden Lassiter
Roisin house and garden. Did she return to the island because of the garden conservation or someone? The
garden is wonderful but Mac has secrets.
This book is a wonderful read. It is warm and realistic. . The descriptions are amazing. as Flora tries to balance
work with new challenges and the promise of love..
Oh my word, a totally captivating and uplifting story. This book grabbed me in from the first page and i was completely hooked. Beautiful descriptions of the locations and gardens, wonderful characters and friendships, this book will certainly test your emotions. A wonderfully written story.
This is a sweet novel about a chance meeting and a dare that turns into a love story. Flora invites Mac to be her date for her friend's wedding but never expects him to turn up. He does, not only because she's captivated him but also because he hopes she'll do him a favor in return. Mac wants her help with the gardens at Roisin House, his home on the small Scottish island where they met. You know how this is going to go, don't you? Well, it's an enjoyable ride, with nice descriptions of the island and the gardens, and two fun characters. Thanks to netgalley for the ARC. It's light. it's fun, it will take your mind off the news.
Omgosh I loved this book.
I liked all the twist and turns in the story.
But happy it ended in the right way.
I so want a sequel with this one as want to know how they all get on with the garden and family stuff.
Cant wait to buy this book.
A gem of a book. A very easy and relaxing read. Funny in parts, sad in others and overall a good story with a compelling cast of characters. .
Loved thus book, sat and binge read it in 2 days !
In a hotel in a remote Scottish Island Flora dared a stranger to be her date for her friends wedding and he said yes and it all went from there. Flora finds it hard to trust men after finding out her dad had another life after he died.
I won't say anymore I dont want to spoil the story but a lovely story in the end
What a wonderful book set in a fictional island off the coast of Scotland. Between the main character's love of gardens and my love for Scotland, this book hit all the right notes. I went back to see if I could find the author's other books at my library, alas, none to be found. This is a feel good book just right for this time. Will highly recommend.
I liked it! It was a cute story but I felt it was a little weird flora acted almost embarrassed that Mac was there even though she had feelings for him? I feel like some stories like this force conflict where there doesn’t need to be it
Would you dare a total stranger to show up at a friend's wedding in a few weeks time? Flora issues the dare and finds herself intrigued when Mac actually shows up at the wedding. Opportunities for love and garden restoration work on the beautiful island of Alana follow this unusual start. A lovely romance.
