Thanks Netgalley and the Publisher. I really like this author she makes me smile and always had great characters, great locations and such a feel good storyline. Loved it.
Flora goes with her friends to a small island in Scotland, where she meets Mac. I liked the book overall, but never really felt a great spark between them. She got more excited over the garden and the little girl than him. Maybe just expecting more, but did like the book. Would recommend.
Lovely book set in the remote Scottish Islands and it has likable characters and loads of funny moments.
This author does a great job of describing the environment around her. From the beautiful gardens, to the homes, everything sounds really lovely (especially to an American). But the love story in this book just doesn’t really work. When Mac drives hundreds of miles to be Flora’s date for the wedding, she acts like she’s put out by the whole thing. She’s almost embarrassed to have him there. And even though she’s developing feelings for him, she refuses to acknowledge it to him and treats him really poorly. Mac isn’t much better. He keeps trying to get close to Flora, and he keeps saying that there’s “something I need to tell you“... and then never actually says it! There is so much conflict and misunderstanding and drama introduced into this book for no good reason. And the introduction of the sad little orphan, designed to tug on your heartstrings, seemed forced in order to build an instant family.
Thank you to NetGalley and Canelo for this advanced reader copy. All opinions expressed in this review are my own.
Thrown straight into a fantastic location of a hotel on a remote Scottish island got me right into this book. It’s definitely somewhere I would want to go myself. I really liked Flora and her friends immediately (I haven’t read the 1st book in this series) and they were all really likeable. This is something I need in a female protagonist.
The story got off to a really quick start with Flora asking a random man to be her plus one to a wedding, all because of a dare from her friends. The story really has a bit of everything; romance, mystery and friendship. I particularly liked the gardening element as it’s not something I’ve come across before.
This was a lovely read for a weekend!
I love this book. A wonderful story of three friends who go away for a luxury weekend to celebrate a hen party. However they all have a wicked streak and dare each other to do different things. Floras dare is to ask the first guy into the bar to be her plus one at the wedding. Never in a million years does she expect him to say yes. You need to read the book to see what happens to Mac, flora and the introduction of Tamsin. Funny, heartbreaking, uplifting and love excellent.
A really lovely story. I loved the friendship between the three girls even though they were all different. The garden description were gripping and Flora ' s enthusiasm really came across. Her friendship with Tamsin was perfect and made you tearfu in a good way. The dare part of the story was fun. An excellent read
I liked it.
The book is a cozy story of misunderstandings and unforgettable feelings.
The rollercoaster of a relationship between Flora and Mac got really tiring sometimes, but the wholesomeness that was surrounding them made up for it. I just wish Flora wasn't so gosh darn stubborn.
Snow did a wonderful job with visualization, too. I felt like I was there in the gardens, on the beach with the sand between my toes, dinner with the family, all of it.
The plot is an easy read with a smooth flow. At no point did I find myself bored, and that's always good.
I recommend this book.
Thank you to NetGalley and Publisher for gifting me this novel in exchange for an honest review.
Flora is on Alana island for a hen party. She meets Mac and invites him to the wedding with her, as a dare from her friends. She finds an old garden that intrigues her and when she has the chance to revisit she does because of the garden, and the secrets and history she uncovers as she works in the garden. Mac has a secret and although there is a hint what it is, you have to wait and find out.
