Thank you NetGalley for the digital ARC of this book that i just finished moments ago. It was so good I got online immediately to leave my review. This was such a great story. I wish there was more details as to why the father and son were even in this situation but overall the love story and action were WONDERFUL! I am heading to book two as we speak. BTW the sex scenes were also LOVELY! and exciting!

Honestly, this book seemed a little rushed. I didn't realize how short it was until I received it. The blurb was very enticing - I love a good Mafia romance - but it's less than 100 pages. I felt like I didn't have enough time to really connect with the characters and they all seemed very one-dimensional. I think if it was longer, I would have enjoyed it more.

Although this book is short, this is one that I feel would be better as a longer book. Although I like books that are short sometimes, I feel this one lacked in character development.

Daniel is the owner of a Real estate company, but he is rumored to be tied to the mob. He apparently sleeps with anyone and everyone he comes in contact with, including his personal assistants. The last personal assistant was just let go because she became emotionally attached to him so he is interviewing for her replacement. Gross.

Laura needs a job to help pay for her mom’s chemo and she has an interview as Daniel’s personal assistant. She’s a Columbia grad and she is ecstatic that the $50k per year salary will pay for the chemo. Seems a bit unrealistic to me.

So after Daniel offers her the job, he tells her to dress pleasing for him each day. Double gross.

Daniel is still hung up on his ex, Camilla. She appears to be everywhere Abbas he has a hard time turning her down. Daniel just went down even further in my book.

Some mafia stuff happens and they want to acknowledge their true feelings for each other, but can and will they?

I felt like Daniel was too screwed up in the mind to have a relationship with anyone. He obsessed over Camilla - who confused me because one time she was described as a brunette and the other as a blonde.

This was a great contemporary romance with loveable characters. I liked the strength the heroine showed in unbelievable circumstances. The hero changed from a lecherous man to a knight in shining armor ready to come to his lover's rescue. But, the plot left me with many questions. The story ended too quickly. I want more!

I had high hopes for the book. It was advertised as an enemy to lovers, but there wasn’t that much hatred going on to be considered and enemies to lovers. I was really excited when I first started the book. The plot line was really good. A little fast moving but good. I was very happy until the sex scenes mo.........

To say they was a little cringy would be a very big lie. I sped read through the entire scenes where they were getting busy. Lots of audible “Oh goshes“ which caused my husband to look at me with a ”What the heck are you reading?” I honestly thought I was just in a reading slump and wanted to give a good review just in case. I screenshot the scene and sent a friend to also review. The consensus was the same. It wasn’t the best. I would suggest that the writer never use the word “wide“ or “long, pink cock” to describe a penis ever again.

Overall, the characters were good. The plot was intriguing but the actual romance aspect of it lacked.

I rate this book 3 out of 5
4 out of 5 stars for plot
2 out of 5 stars for romance
3 out of 5 stars for creativity

This was my first time reading this author and I enjoyed her writing style. There was a good overall flow and balance between our more heated scenes and story action. Nothing seemed forced and the story seemed to move almost organically. For a short story Anna Ray did a good job of not making it feel rushed.

We got to know both Laura and Daniel and what their motivations were before they made the move into becoming something more. I even enjoyed the spice thrown in from having Daniel's ex pop in from time to time. Salvatore proved to be a good tension point but did seem more of a forced character, much more of a stereotype than having actual substance.

The "conflict resolution" (don't want to post a spoiler) at he end didn't quite seem finished to me. It all came together and was solved rather easily without any big fuss which is not typical in this genre. I would have preferred a bit more fallout after the events in Daniel's apartment. I think we could have benefited from another chapter or two to flesh it out.

I would like to thank NetGalley, the author and publisher for providing me a free copy of this story. I am voluntarily giving my own honest review.

Complementary copy from Netgalley given for honest review and opinion. I could not put this book down. This book is a great suspenseful romance. I am surprised it isn't listed as such. You will have to read it for yourself but at one point I was screaming "don't go in there." I can't wait to see what else Anna Ray brings to me.

Daniel is yet again having to endure interviews for a new assistant. With HR breathing down his neck to not sleep with this next one as the recruitment process is a costly nightmare. Working his way through the interviews, he dismisses them for various reasons until Laura walks through the door and his attention is captured by her, Hiring her on the spot, requesting she signs an NDA and starts the following day.

Laura needs this new job to help pay for her mother's cancer treatment. Knowing that it would be full-on in advance and the reality is two different things. Especially when the first meeting she needs to attend with Daniel is held at a strip club. Whilst Daniel has kept his business on the straight and narrow, his father is in debt up to his eyeballs and has arranged for Daniel to meet the uncle of his ex-girlfriend. Looking to store illegal weapons for a large fee each month and writing off his father's debts Daniel is making a deal with the devil.

Complications with the deal arise when Sal (the uncle) takes a shine to Laura and wants her for himself. Plus Daniel's ex is back in the picture stirring up trouble too. Can Daniel work out what is more important to him in time?

yeah not for me i could have saved my time, however the good news it is short so you dont waste much time. we have a supposed mafia which I love mafia stories but this guy was too soft for a mafia guy but he was whory enough to be one, he sure slept with enough of his workers to try to think of not sleeping with his new one even though he really wanted to, and she thought he was hot but somebody she so did not need, but guess that last a whole two minutes..

I know this says enemies to lovers on the cover, but they aren't even mild adversary's to be honest. It is an office romance with more of a push and push back kind of interaction.
I liked the characters, Laura is strong willed but professional, Daniel is professional but flirty, Sal is the super sleazy old guy and his niece(Daniel's ex) is a manipulative brat.
You can definitely tell that this was an expanded story as it has a few rough spots that feel like filler, but based on how the characters made me feel I'm definitely interested to see what she writes next.

As much as I love mafia romances this one fell a little short for me. It felt more like a work place romance as there was more focus on Laura working for Daniel than there was on Daniel being in the mafia. Most of the book references Daniel trying g to stay out of the family business only to get sucked i to a deal he doesn't want to help his dad who is in need of money. Other than his one business deal there's not really any mafia action. The characters were a little frustrating for me. Daniel, our main male character starts out sleepy and only hires Laura because he intends to sleep with her but with no warning he has feelings for her and spends most of the book sending her mixed signals and pretending he doesn't want her. Laura is less frustrating but starts as a good girl thats says she won't ever sleep with her boss but get one margarita in her and she starts thinking about it. Once Daniel decides he wants her their romance goes incredibly fast. The sex scenes were nice and steamy which was great. And I loved the ending for our two main characters, I was happy to see they got their HEA. Overall it was an enjoyable story.

I was so excited to read this book because I love mafia romance stories, however I was a little bit disappointed with it. There’s not as much mafia action as I’d have liked, For the first quarter or so of the story there’s only a reference of how Daniel comes from a mafia family but has stayed out of the family business so far. It’s not until about 60% or so that there’s a bit of action with Sal and his business deal. As far as the romance we spend most of the book with Daniel who started out wonderfully sleazy with hiring Laura simply for her looks and the fact he wants her to him changing his mind so many times. Then we have Laura who seems like a sweet girl at first but ends up spending most of the book wondering why her boss doesn’t want to sleep with her. I will say that the sex scenes were deliciously steamy once the characters finally decided they wanted each other, and that was one of the redeeming qualities of the story. Daniel and Laura’s love story ended on such a sweet note as well. Overall this was a pleasant and quick read.

Being a lover of Mafia romance I was very excited to read this but was disappointed by the lack of Mafi content in the book and it would be much more accurately labeled as a business or office romance. Daniel is a businessman playboy looking for a new assistant when he finds Laura who has enough brains and “bust” to fit the role perfectly, their romance is what the book is centered around. The main character Daniel is much more of a bossiness man (he decided he didn’t want to be part of the family business) than a mob boss and lacked the power and cockiness that I often enjoy seeing in Mafia romances. Everything happened rather quickly in the book and while I enjoyed seeing the POV of both characters throughout the book and Laura and Daniels connection and relationship was just a little too easy for me.

This book isn’t really what it is advertised. This isn’t an enemies to lovers story. Daniel and Laura, the love interests, never even really disliked each other. Also, it isn’t a mafia story. Daniel isn’t part of the mafia and while the mafia gets a little involved at the end—which is solved all too easily—I wouldn’t consider the mafia a large part of the story at all.

I did like Daniel and Laura together after I got over the beginning. Laura is a good character and has some spunk as well. I didn’t buy Daniel’s quick turn around from planning on having sex with Laura very soon to treating her with some respect.

Overall, a quick and ok read.

Daniel Marino is a CEO, who is in need of a new personal assistant, takes on Laura Byrne as his new personal assistant, both doing what they must to look after their families. However, Daniel is also the heir to the mafia and they must face obstacles in order to find their happily ever after.

I love a good mafia romance book, so when I saw this I was so intrigue. I found both the characters and the world were very one-dimensional. The premise of this book really drew me in however, it all just fell a bit flat. The only saving grace was that it was such a quick read that it is hard to fault it for not being as developed as the other romance I have read.

I liked this book but it was just way too short for my liking. Everything happened fast paced and I found myself wanting more. I wanted to see more of Laura and Daniel’s relationship come about. Also more stuff with the mob and Laura’s reaction. Also, there was only one sex scene, which was great don’t get me wrong. I just kept finding myself wanting more

Tempted by Anna Ray was about Daniel and Laura. Daniel has links to the Mafia, but Laura knows this as she goes for an interview with him. She is hired on the spot as his personal assistant. The job turned into something more than she expected, but with an NDA she can't even talk to her best friend about it.
The chemistry between Laura and Daniel is hot and heavy. I thought the storyline was very good, all the characters were meaningful. I would have liked the ending to have more detail after Sal died but regardless overall a good read.

This is the first book in this latest Mafia romance series and it is actually a combination mafia/office romance It is only a fast read as it only took about an hour to read so perfect for when you don't have a lot of time

Daniel Marino is only interested in making money and quick flings he has no intention of ever having a committed relationship and he rends to go through PA because he keeps having said flings with them Now he has a new PA Laura Byrne and he is determined that the same thing won't happen again he will stay away from her which is going to be easy as she is the first woman that has ever resisted him. As his illegal business deals put Laura in the cross hairs of his business partners he starts to realise just what she has started to mean to him and he will do whatever he needs to in an effort to keep her safe.

What a train wreck...

Writing style: It wasn't anything special, but it wasn't bad either. I think the writing is the only thing that made me finish this book.

Characters: Daniel is a fucking sleazy asshat and Laura is way too stupid for such a smart business woman. And don't even get me started on all the toxic behavior that Laura had to endure in this book from all the men. Ugh, disgusting.

Story: It's supposed to be an enemies to lovers mafia romance... There's no mafia, there's no enemies to lovers trope, THERE ISN'T EVEN PROPER ROMANCE *pulls out hair* This is a classic wrong advertisement just so people will pick up your train wreck of a book.

This was so bad, oh my lord, I just can't believe I read the whole thing I should have just DNFed it. Yeah, I really can't give this more than 1,5 stars.

This was such a cute workplace romance! I didn’t feel like the mafia aspect was super prominent in the story but I still loved the love story between Laura and Daniel! It was exciting throughout the whole book. Laura was a super strong female character who wasn’t afraid to stand up for herself and put Daniel in his place. Daniel tried to be a clean, stand up guy (but still a possessive alpha male) and there was a hint that his father was involved slightly in the mafia. I wish the mafia portion was more detailed.
