This was a soap opera type book. It had its moments that were a little out there to be taken seriously, and then there were some parts where you were taken directly into drama. I enjoyed the way it switched between the three women to explain the story. I feel like I became more invested in the characters because of this. I was hoping for a little more desperate housewives type vibe, but overall it was pretty good.
Rich women, juicy gossip and murders…what more can you ask for!
This is the perfect summer read. It’s short, suspenseful and none of the characters are reliable. It’s a story told through multiple POV’s from Brooke, Erin and Georgia.
Brooke recently married her tech billionaire husband and moved to a fancy gated community in the Bay Area. She writes mystery books and is 22 years younger than her new husband. Soon after moving into the neighborhood, she is befriended by Erin and Georgia.
Erin is a famous news anchor who’s married to Mason, a plastic surgeon. Their marriage is on the rocks and her husband is always working. Erin walks out of her demanding job, hoping to spend more time with Mason and save their marriage. During her time off she realizes that Mason isn’t the man she thought he was.
Georgia, also nicknamed “The Black Widow”, because her last two, very wealthy, husbands died and she cashed in on their deaths. Many believe that she is responsible for the deaths. Now she is about to marry her third husband and claims that he is her “true love.” Unfortunately, tragedy happens days before they walk down the aisle. Was Georgia responsible?
I can’t say enough good things about this one! It was a fun and suspenseful book that I didn’t want to put down. It’s the perfect book for those that love gossip and reality TV.
A huge thank you to Ballantine Books and NetGalley for an advanced copy in exchange for my honest review.
Wow, what a roller coaster this story is! It is about 3 trophy wives and their husbands. Erin, Brooke and Georgia are 3 women that know what they want from their men and what they don’t want - nothing will stop them from achieving this. The story has so many twists and turns right up until that end that even if you figure it out the end will probably still surprise you! Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for an ARC in exchange for an honest review.
I couldn't put down this book once I started it!! A captivating read!
When billionaire, Jack who's 55 years old, and his new trophy wife, Brooke, just 22 years old, move to an exclusive, gated mansion community in California from the East Coast, neither one expects to meet their infamous neighbors.
Georgia St. Clair, known in the media as The Black Widow, due to the facts that after a year of marriage her first husband fell down the stairs and died. Then just 4 years later her second husband committed suicide while she was sleeping. With no evidence to charge Georgia, she collected their millions of dollars and is now set to marry her third husband.
Brooke's husband, Jack, doesn't trust his new neighbor. He wants Brooke to keep her distance and uphold their illusion of a perfect marriage. They have separate bedrooms and have more of a roommate relationship than the one they show off in public, but he doesn't want her to ruin the facade.
Erin King, is another neighbor who lives in the subdivision. She's the lead female anchor for a news channel. Her husband, Mason, is a plastic surgeon who's never around anymore. After meeting the young, gorgeous Brooke, she loses her temper and walks off the set seconds before a live broadcast. She thinks she's indispensable to the station, but she's in for a surprise. She figures it will be better for their marriage if she's home more often. But her husband thinks differently.
Both Georgia and Erin befriend Brooke who is surprised at first. She's an author who writes mystery/thrillers during the day while Jack's at work. Meeting these women brings awakens her dormant writer's muse. But when she witnesses something wrong the night Georgia's fiancee goes missing, she doesn't know whom it what to believe about her new friends.
What she never expected was to become an alibi for Georgia or an accomplice to both of their crimes.
But the twist towards the end of the book throws you for a big loop!!
A must read!!
When mystery write, Brooke moves into a new neighborhood she meets Erin, a housewife who spends her days ensuring everyone follows HOA guidelines. She quickly meets Georgia, Brooke’s next door neighbor and Erin’s best friend who is known by the media as the Black Widow because rumor has it she killed her first two husbands for their money. She’s about tho remarry and the question is, how long before this husband dies?
This one was a fun, twisty read. I loved the unexpected friendship between the three women and how they had each other’s backs. I flew through this quick read because I really couldn’t guess what would happen next and I was surprised many times. It was extra dramatic and a bit over the top, but in all the best ways. This is a perfect soapy summer thriller!
Thanks to NetGalley and Ballatine books for the advanced copy!
I wanted to love this book based on the premise but in reality it failed to keep me interested-the twist at the end wasn't much of a twist at all.
4 stars
Oh, how the secrets can pile up. This is a story that uses the desires of people to have the perfect wife or husband and what they will do to be it or get one.
Moving into a new community, our trophy wife with a controlling older husband makes new friends and this husband becomes worried...all these outside influences could cause her to start to be more independent.
The other trophy wives all have their own stories and secrets. This becomes a story of people with lots to hide.
Absolutely loved this book. This was the first time I have read this author, and I can't wait to read more. The storyline and characters had me hooked!
Twisted, sinful, deceitful and delicious. It begins with questions and neighbors with a lot to lose. Each of the wives in this street of dreams has no idea that they are being observed for a reason we are only privy to in the last pages. Is the Merry Widow seeking her next victim. Is the tech tycoon really working so much his wife starts researching her neighbors under the guise of her next novel. A groom dies in a grisly fashion, whose to blame? Like I said it’s delicious twists that belie the lives these people present on the surface. We get to peek , just for a moment but often that’s all you need. Money may not make you happy but these ladies all know the days are easier with it.
This book was wild in the best possible way. Kept me on my toes the whole time. I totally recommend it to anyone!
It's fun when a book exceeds expectations, and this one did for me. I expected a clever chick-lit books full of relationships and snarky behavior, and I did get that, but there was also a delightfully twisty mystery.
Brooke and her husband Jack move into an exclusive Bay Area neighborhood, full of the ultra-rich. She meets Erin, a news anchor and the neighborhood HOA leader, and Georgia, who was rumored to have killed her first two husbands. Georgia's wedding to husband number three is coming up.
All three women have viewpoint chapters, and I liked seeing inside their heads and guessing what was going on. And a lot of it surprised me, which is always fun. Thanks to the publisher and Netgalley for the review copy!
This is not normally the type of book I read... but I needed something that was a guilty pleasure, and this was it! What a quick read, but easily followable character development, and a twist at the end!
Let me point out the obvious. This book’s title is The Sinful Lives of Trophy Wives. If I’ve come across a better name this year, I don’t know what it is. And if you hear that title and are confused about what type of story lurks beneath the book’s fabulous cover, then I’ve got some CDs I’d like you to rewind for me.
How much you will end up enjoying it will depend on how much you like soapy shows like “The Real Housewives of (Who Cares),” “Desperate Housewives,” “Melrose Place,” and I’ll even toss in “Knots Landing” for the people in the back. It’s campy. It’s twisty. It’s fun.
It’s a book I liked better than the characters within it. And if you find a title with such snap, crackle and pop as irresistible as I do, there’s a good chance you’ll like it too.
My thanks to the author and Ballantine Books for providing me with an advance copy to review via NetGalley. The Sinful Lives of Trophy Wives is now available for your beach-reading pleasure!
Thank you for the opportunity to read and review this ARC of The Sinful Lives of Trophy Wives. This follows 3 women entangled in bad marriages and with messy pasts. Every chapter ends on a cliffhanger that makes you want to keep going. It ended up being a pretty quick vacation read but the end did feel a little rushed. I would recommend this to any domestic thriller readers.
This was a fantastic book! I loved the undertones of a thriller, but also women's fiction with the friendships that are involved. I was completely thrown by the ending, which I always love. The characters were fascinating but almost like train wreck that you can't look away from. I kept flip-flopping whether or not I loved them or despised them! I enjoyed the changing narrator perspectives, as well as the deeper dive that it allowed the reader to take into each of the characters' lives. I highly recommend this book.
This is my first time reading a novel by Kristin Miller and it did not disappoint! I really enjoyed “The Secret Lives of Trophy Wives” as well as the three points of view.
Each “trophy wife” had a good story line that kept me reading. The details and descriptive writing transported me
into their elite neighborhood and lives. I would highly recommend Kristin Miller’s “The Secret Lives of Trophy Wives” to thriller and romantic novel fans.
Thank you Net Galley and Random House Publishing for my digital arc in exchange for my honest review.
I really enjoyed this one!
A huge thank you to NetGalley and Ballantine books for my advanced copy!
I'm going to keep this review short.
I loved the concept of this book. The Multiple POV's . The Characters. The plot twists.
The author kept me engaged throughout the entire book but most of all I was entertained. I was so entertained.
Highly recommend and cannot wait to read more by this author.
This left me with very much Real Housewives vibes. It was a very entertaining read. I loved how the story flowed.
