I just finished The Sinful Lives of Trophy Wives and woah what a ride that book was. The Sinful Lives of Trophy Wives is a fast-paced thriller that will keep you guessing until the very end. I thought I had things all figured out, but when that ending hit, I was totally thrown for a loop.
The Sinful Wives are a trio of housewives living in the prestigious Presidio Terrace, who just so happen to have some deep hidden skeletons in their closets. There is Erin the journalist who seemingly has the perfect life and marriage. Georgia whose first two husbands died mysteriously. And lastly, there is Brooke. Brooke is new to the neighborhood and group. She just so happens to get tangled up with Georgia and Erin, much to her husband's chagrin. Some wild and crazy things happen along the way that will test the friendship of these three women.
This was a very fun and wild story. There were lots of twists and turns to keep me entertained the whole way through. I did feel like there were some parts that dragged a bit, but other than that the story kept me entertained! Miller did a wonderful job of creating likeable yet extremely unlikeable characters. This story was kind of like a modern day “Desperate Housewives” meets “Real Housewives” franchise. I loved both of those shows, so I was here for all the drama. I know that thriller lovers everywhere will appreciate Kristin’s well-written web of mystery. This is a must read for all.
Thank you to @netgalley, the author and Ballantine publishing for my advanced eARC in return for an honest review!!
Happy publication day!
I received an early copy of The Sinful Lives of Trophy Wives from Netgalley and it was perfect timing! I was able to fly through it on the beach and really enjoyed it the Real Housewives-y story. I found the earlier parts a little less interesting, but the story really picks up in the second half.
And WHOA what a nice little twist at the end!
I have not finished yet, so I will update but so far so good. I unfortunately didn't see this on my tablet until close to publication.
My new favorite guilty pleasure! Kristin Miller has written a cast of rich, self-absorbed, unreliable characters right out of my beloved daytime soaps from back in the day. Jealousy, drama and all sorts of juicy secrets unravel in this soap opera/desperate housewives tale, all taking place in the exclusive gated community of San Fransisco’s Presidio Terrace. The story centers around three “trophy wives.” Soon-to-be-married Georgia St Claire, a.k.a. “the black widow,” Erin King, a news anchor who spies her husband in an uncompromising position, and newcomer Brooke Davies who’s a mystery writer and young wife to a billionaire. Georgia is rumored to have murdered her first two husbands for their fortunes, and has now moved on to husband number three, her fiancé Robert whom she loves and adores. After a tragic accident occurs and a mystery from the past comes to light, the three women must either sink or swim to keep from being found out. This was a whole lot of fun, it kept me reading until I turned the last page.
Thanks so much to NetGalley and Random House Publishing Group - Ballantine Books for providing an arc in exchange for my honest review.
What a delicious read! I would call it a summer read, but it could also be an excellent winter read, cozy by the fire, safe in your own home.
Brooke is new to Presidio Terrace. Erin has been there for a while, and lives with her husband, Mason. And Georgia, also a resident, is suspected of murdering her first two husbands, and is now about to get married for a third time.
The community is all abuzz with rumors about Georgia's upcoming nuptials, and whether her newest prey will even make it to the wedding day. Then a horrible accident occurs, and Georgia is forced into the spotlight once again.
Erin is scrambling to keep her job as a news anchor, and makes a promise she's not sure she can keep.
Brooke is quietly waiting, watching, and observing.
Full of twists, turns, cheating, fighting and LOTS of money, this is an absolute delight of a read.

🤯 <— that emoji was about all I could come up with upon finishing The Sinful Lives of Trophy Wives. This book will have you think you know where it’s going and then one sentence will change it all and you’ll be going “wait WHAT” as you try to figure out the new crazy path. It’s exciting, it’s fun, and for someone like me who has a chronic habit of guessing twists, it’s a breath of shocking and surprising fresh air.
This book is Dynasty meets Dallas meets Desperate Housewives. It’s soapy and campy as hell, and I thoroughly enjoyed it. This baby has red herrings galore and you’ll have a thousand questions until the action really picks up for a heart racing and satisfying conclusion.
Grab some popcorn, pour yourself some wine, and sit by the pool because this book is going to keep you enthralled. The three female main characters are fascinating and their storylines are filled with much more glitz and glamour than us mere mortals will ever experience personally. The entire trio was magnificent, but I personally loved Georgia; I think every reader will have her own favorite leading lady depending on what they take from the book.
Have I sold you yet? If you want an unpredictable and fun read, go grab The Sinful Lives of Trophy Wives as it hits shelves TODAY! Thank you so much to NetGalley, Random House & Ballantine Books for this eARC in exchange for an honest review. Review posted to NetGalley, Goodreads, and Instagram.
This was an unexpectedly exciting read. I didn't know what to expect going into it, and I thought it would be a fairly basic rich people behaving badly story (not a bad thing, that's a trope I love). This one held a lot of surprises and I found it super readable. It also has a level of seriousness that I didn't expect that made this compelling. Hand this one to fans of Liane Moriarty.
Brooke has recently married the CEO of a search engine company who is very wealthy. Brooke is a mystery writer dealing with a bit of writer’s block with her second book. They have just moved into a wealthy, exclusive community with lots of security and lots of strict rules.
Georgia has lost two husbands in the space of two years. Many people are calling her The Black Widow. Now, she is preparing to wed her third husband. Of course, all of these men were/are very wealthy.
Erin is a news broadcaster married to a plastic surgeon. She tends to be a bit of a diva. All of them live in the same development where Erin is the president of the home owners association and very diligent about enforcing the rules.
These three women end up becoming good friends and look out for each other. They are all keeping secrets. The messes they get into are illegal but funny. It’s nice to see how the rich people live, but we realize they have as many, if not more, problems than we do. A good whodunit with lots of humor thrown in for good measure. Don’t miss this one. It’s like grabbing a delicious pastry without the calories.

The Sinful Lives of Trophy Wives was a juicy thriller. Such a perfect beach read. It was witty and hilarious.
The story follows along with Georgia, Erin and Brooke who live in a very rich neighborhood, Presidio Terrace.
Georgia is about to get married (AGAIN) and rumor on the street is Georgia killed her previous 2 husbands. Erin is a hot shot news anchor with a deteriorating marriage. Brooke is the new girl on the block, and she quickly finds herself entangled in Georgia and Erin’s drama.
When Georgia’s soon to be 3rd husband disappears right before they are set to get married, Georgia, Erin and Brooke band together (or so it seems) to get to the bottom of his disappearance. All 3 women are hiding something, and we begin to find out what happened to Georgia’s fiancé, one juicy secret at a time.
I absolutely loved this book, what a FUN, FAST, and FUNNY ride!!
I zoomed through it and loved every minute. It's told from the viewpoint of three neighbor women in the actual real neighborhood of Presidio Terrace (SF), and I highly doubt the real Presidio Terrace is so exciting (although you never know!). There is murder, mayhem, kidnapping, blackmail, and three gorgeous, rich wives who are hiding a boatload (yacht-load?) of secrets.
The end had so many surprises that I never dreamed were the answers to all the mysteries in the story. "Wait, THAT was who...?" "Wait, it was HER??" "That's who HE was??" "SHE knew...??" One surprise after the other. I highly recommend it, as a beach read, or some high-quality fluff between serious books, or just a great chick-lit murder mystery. It deserves 5 stars for any of these categories.
That said, as I was reading the final pages and marveling over the twists and turns, I realized that if I thought too hard about what happened earlier... things might not add up 100%. It's possible that some of the answers at the end do not match up with what we read... however a more powerful force in my brain, the one who was so excited about the fun ride I'd just had, it prevented me from thinking too hard or from turning back the pages. I don't want the fun to be spoiled. If there were some holes in this plot, I don't want to know about them. Ignorance is bliss in this case, it's not worth ruining the great time I had.
And yes, the women are terrible people who seem to get more and more terrible. Sorry, I still loved the whole thing!
Many thanks to Ballantine and NetGalley for the ARC in exchange for an honest review. I honestly loved the heck out of this book, and I might even read it again next summer. Re-reading a book is the highest praise at my age.
Thanks to Netgalley and Random for an advance review copy of “The Sinful Lives of Trophy Wives.”
“Rich women behaving badly” is my favorite trope. It’s even better when it is the basis for a page-turning thriller 👀
Brooke is the new trophy wife on the block in San Francisco’s exclusive Presidio Terrace. She’s just moved in with her tech billionaire husband and is an author of mystery books.
She quickly meets news anchor Erin King, who’s married to a plastic surgeon, and her bestie Georgia St. Claire. Georgia is about to get married a third time, and there are rumors she killed her first two husbands for their fortunes. From the get-go we’re left to wonder why this third dude is willing to take a chance on Georgia and her checkered past.
This book is a helluva page turner without ever getting TOO dark. (I like my thrillers dark but those books are not for everyone.) This is the book to read if you need something to suck you in without creeping you out too badly. It’s a great beach or plane read
The Sinful Lives of Trophy Wives by Kristin Miller is told by multiple characters and we do not know who to trust. Centered around trophy wives, Georgia, Erin and Brooke, we begin to see into their lives, secrets and more. Full of twists and turns, we are engrossed in the lives of these women as the story plays out. On the outside they are living perfect lives, but what is really going on?
Need the perfect beach read? Have a rainy or snowy weekend where a good book is needed? If so, The Sinful Lives of Trophy Wives is for you. Once I started reading this psychological thriller by Kristin Miller, I could not put it down. I kept thinking that this book will be the next Netflix series. (Move over Big Little Lies.) The book has three narrators alternating chapters. The setting is the ultra prestigious gated neighborhood of Presidio Terrace located in San Francisco. Brooke, a novelist, and her new husband Jack Davies, who is a tech millionaire and twenty two years older than her are the newest residents. “Black Widow” Georgia whose first husband fell down the stairs to his death, second husband who committed suicide, and Robert who she is going to marry very soon live next door to Brooke and Jack. Our third narrator, Erin, is a successful TV anchor and her husband, Mason who is a successful plastic surgeon. This couple is seeing a marriage counselor.
I loved the fast pace of the book. So many times I thought I had figured out what was going to happen. I would turn the page, and there would be a new twist and turn. I was surprised to read at the end of the book that Kristin Miller has written over thirty books. This is her first psychological thriller. I hope she continues writing in this genre. My thanks to Random House Ballantine and NetGalley for an ARC of this book. The opinions in this review are my own.
The story kept me moving along briskly and kept my interest. Well written and good dialogue. However at the end of the book I didn't feel the characters were as fully developed as I would have liked. Ultimately there were too many convenient connections that could have been developed more by having the characters have more complex histories. I look forward to future stories from Kristin Miller in the future, I think they will get better and better.
A wickedly entertaining and deliciously engrossing drama filled with scandalous twists. Brooke Davis and her tech-billionaire husband Jack are the new residents moved into Presidio Terrace. A mystery writer who is experiencing a writing slump she finds inspiration from her new neighbors Erin King and Georgia St. Claire. Erin is a well-known news anchor always making an effort to maintain an image. She takes some time off from her job to rekindle with her husband Mason however, she begins to have doubts about her husband's affection towards her. And finally, Georgia notoriously known as the 'Black Widow' married twice with both husbands met untimely deaths is about to be married for the third time. She declares her innocence in regards to her previous 2 marriages. Will Georgia be able to finally meet her happily ever after on her third marriage? Brooke is befriended by Georgia and Erin and invited to Georgia's pre-wedding party on a yacht. However, Georgia's fiance goes missing onboard and situations begin to unravel with secrets coming to light while the wives desperately search for Georgia's fiance's whereabouts.
"The Sinful Lives of Trophy Wives" is wildly enthralling, dark and juicy. Filled with over the top soap opera-like dramas with an underlying mystery. Kristin Miller seemed to have purposefully created a premise that is not supposed to be taken seriously written in part comical and part superficial style. This story is written in alternating POV between the three trophy wives. Each wife's dedicated chapters provide us with an in-depth glimpse of their hidden pasts and their connections. The author's writing flows very well with a solid pacing. The characteristics of the wives are eccentric and full of intensity. This book made me laugh out loud and gasped at the absurdity. If seeking for some escapism, this is one addictive book perfect for a summer read.
Thank you to NetGalley and Random House Publishing House - Ballantine Books for providing this ARC in exchange for an honest review.
Oh this is a fun one! Some clever twists and short chapters make for a fast paced read. While not incredibly deep, this makes for a perfect thriller for the pool or beach!
Thank you to Netgalley, Kristin, and Ballantine Books for an advance copy of The Sinful Lives of Trophy Wives.
When mystery author Brooke Davies moves to the prestigious Presidio Terrace with her older billionaire of a husband, she knows the routine- be the perfectly obedient housewife. So when Brooke befriends Erin, famous local news anchor who causes a scene and walks out on air, and Georgia, nicknamed The Black Widow, for losing two husbands in as many years and working on a third marriage, Brooke isn’t exactly off to the right start in her husband’s eyes.
When a mysterious disappearance befalls the community, tensions rise amongst friendships and marriages, however Brooke thinks she may have found inspiration for her newest book. Kristin Miller weaves a tangled web of lies that will keep readers guessing.
I really enjoyed this one. Despite working and managing a toddler, I managed to devour it in less than two days. We get a multi-POV peek into elite society and what goes on behind those perfect closed doors. I think fans of domestic thrillers will be especially excited to dive into two marriages and a third relationship. And on top of those secrets, we also have the complicated trio of women and the secrets they’re keeping together and also from one another.
I found Georgia (the Black Widow) to be the most fascinating character, though we get the least from her perspective. She was complicated and still somehow likable despite being widely accused of offing two of her previous husbands. The dynamic between the three women was also interesting, there were some elements of ‘keep your friends close and your enemies closer’ and some jealousy, but also pure friendship woven in.
The story itself was interesting and I was kept guessing. I will say that I did figure it out, but not until it was about to be revealed, and even then, there was a final twist that I hadn’t discovered. I can totally see this as a fantastic Lifetime movie or plot in a soap. So much fun!
Newlyweds, Brooke & Jack move into the exclusive Presidio Terrace to be closer to the hub of his tech industry company. Much younger than her husband, Brooke immediately is befriended by older and wiser neighbor wives, Georgia and Erin. Erin, a TV personality is married to Mason, a plastic surgeon. Georgia is widowed twice, both under questionable circumstances, and is currently engaged to be married again to wealthy, distinguished Robert within the week. When he mysteriously disappears three days before the wedding, secrets are revealed that make Brooke see Erin and Georgia in a different light and realize things aren’t quite how they seem.
With fantastically unreliable narrators, The Sinful Lives of Trophy Wives is a heart stopping domestic thriller that kept my interest from the first page. If you loved Big, Little Lies for its dark, outrageous drama and the jaw-dropping ending of the Silent Patient, you’ve found yourself another favorite.
This book was confusing, good, but confusing. The three female main characters were not good or evil enough to really love or hate them. They led privileged lives, but each with a downside that should make no one envy their positions. And I am not even really sure about the men. Other than what we know through the women, we don't really get to know them. Truly, it never felt like we got to know the women very well either. It all felt like they were characters in a Bay Area version of Desperate(r) Housewives and we would have several more seasons to get to know them. The story was a solid one with intrigue and little surprises thrown in along the way. Sadly, I don't think the surprises were meant to be little, but were supposed to be gasping twists. Somehow, though, they were mundanely snuck in throughout the story as though it was no big deal. All in all, I did enjoy the read. It felt like time spent pampering myself with a trashy tv show and we all need that once in awhile!
This is a short, quick read. At under 300 pages, I read this in an afternoon. The first 50% was exactly what I expecting from a book like this: fun, campy, rich people behaving badly. But the second half is where we jump the shark. Things become way too coincidental and ridiculous. Several threads are left unexplained. I’m sure this would be a great poolside book for the right reader.
