While I’ve never watched an episode, the characters seem like they jumped straight out of the Real Housewives series. While I didn’t connect with any of the characters, I was slightly intrigued over the wives and their pasts.

Georgia is known as the Black Widow since her first two husbands died and is preparing for the wedding to her third husband. Erin is a broadcaster with a shaky marriage who walks off the set of her anchor jobs in hopes of a sabbatical and to be needed. Brooke, the newest resident of the exclusive neighborhood, alludes to a tumultuous upbringing.

All the wives have secrets they are trying to keep hidden when Georgia’s fiance is kidnapped. What a wild ride of a book. And twists and turns I did not see coming. What a great summer read.

Let me start by saying that The Sinful Lives of Trophy Wives is an incredible title, and the blurb is even more exciting - promising all the things I love in a book. Glamorous women, dark secrets, psychological thrillers.

And this book does deliver on some of those things…but it falls short just a hair in ways that are hard to articulate.

The murder plot, with its twists and turns, felt a little odd to me. The premise makes sense. The suspects make sense. But then the way the clues are revealed and how the suspects act start to lose me. It’s as if the author REALLY wanted all these red herrings, but they are so flaming red and there are so many of them that the eventual solution required me to completely suspend my disbelief.

There’s also the glamorous aspect, which is close but not quite there. It’s like the author really wanted to portray these lifestyles of the rich and famous, but couldn’t quite get there. A great example of this is the quote here: “Until I’m walking in Georgia’s red-soled Louis Vuitton shoes, I can’t say what I would do.”

Any fashionista worth her salt knows Louboutins are the infamous red-soled shoes, and little details like that can really break the rich women immersion I was hoping for.

I know all this sounds like I hated the book, but I truly didn’t. It was a fast paced easy to read novel, and I did enjoy the characterizations and the friendship between women. I even liked how it ended, despite not loving the journey it took to get there

So entertaining and unexpected! This one was a page-turner and I read it fast. I definitely didn’t see the end coming. Between the three main characters, Georgia, Erin, and Brooke there is a lot of drama! I enjoyed how the chapters went back and forth between the 3 women and you got their 3 different viewpoints throughout the book. Overall, a really good read and I thoroughly enjoyed it!

Thank you Net Galley and Random house- Ballantine for an advanced read copy in return for my honest review. This book will be published July 20, 2021.

The Sinful Lives of Trophy Wives immediately sucked me in, giving me Desperate Housewives vibes!! I loved the multiple POVs of the 3 “trophy wives” and the mystery surrounding them.
This book was filled with interesting characters, plot twists, secrets, and scandals! Just when I thought I had things figured out, the author would surprise me again. I devoured this one in just one day because I couldn’t put it down.
If you are a fan of Bravo TV, this book will not disappoint!

In The Sinful Lives of Trophy Wives Kristin Miller gives us a story about three women friends and neighbors who are all considered "Trophy Wives". After already burying two husbands, the "Black Widow" among them is about to marry number three. I found The Sinful Lives of Trophy Wives to be entertaining and at times really funny..... not sure if it was supposed to be or not! I want to thank NetGalley and Ballantine Books for an early copy to review.

A "domestic suspense" book, The Sinful Lives of Trophy Wives is told from the perspective of three different women who all reside in an elite gated community in San Francisco. The newest gal on the block is Brooke, a mystery writer who is married to Jack a tech-mogul workaholic who is 20+ years her senior. Erin is the HOA head honcho and TV newscaster who up and quits her job after becoming fed up with her misogynistic co-host....though her plastic surgeon husband Mason is less than pleased with her change in employment status. Finally there is Georgia, given the moniker of "Black Widow" because her previous two husbands died and most people think she killed them (though she was never charged).....she is engaged to be married to Robert, a wealthy yachtsman. When Robert goes missing at their pre-wedding celebration, Brooke wonders if Georgia really is killing her husbands. What happened to Robert?

The book is short and fast-paced. The women come across as frenemies and they definitely give off Desperate and/or Real Housewives vibes (nice to your face stab ya in the back when you aren't looking kinda thing) which was certainly entertaining but didn't allow for much depth. The men were even worse with their controlling and overbearing behaviors. Almost all of the characters were unlikeable. Overall, the book fell a little flat for me personally, but if you are looking for a beach read that plays out like a soap opera you may enjoy this one.

Many thanks to NetGalley and Random House Ballantine Books for the opportunity to read and review Kristin Miller's latest book - 4 stars for a fun escape book.

Three couples - Georgia and Robert, Erin and Mason, and Jack and Brooke - are neighbors in a. prestigious neighborhood in. San Francisco. The three women soon find themselves friends, although they are an unlikely group. Georgia, also known as the Black Widow, is the widow of two wealthy husbands who both died at their home. Is wealthy Robert next? Erin is a newscaster who feels the age clock ticking, even though she is married to a plastic surgeon. The sight of young Brooke sets her off. Brooke is a writer and married to her much older wealthy tech company husband but their marriage seems off and who is using her friends' lives as inspiration for her latest novel. When another tragedy happens, the three women must come together for all their sakes.

This is just like watching Real or Desperate Housewives - we get a peek into how the other half live their very over the top lives. It's fun to just go along for the ride! There are no real likable characters here and everyone has a secret or two or three. I never saw that twist coming at the end either! This is a quick, entertaining, campy read!

I found my perfect 2021 beach read with The Sinful Lives of Trophy Wives. Dive into the privileged world of San Francisco wives Brooke, Erin, and Georgia. You would never have the nerve to be this naughty. You wouldn’t, would you?

Beautiful newlywed Brooke moves into an exclusive neighborhood near San Francisco with her older tech millionaire husband, Jack. She is befriended by Erin who lives across the street. Erin, whose five-year marriage to Mason feels stale, envies Brooke her beauty. Nevertheless, Erin introduces Brooke to her best friend, Georgia. Georgia is a double widow. She is suspected of murdering both of her prior husbands for their money. In the press, she was dubbed the Black Widow, but nothing was ever proven. Now, she is planning her wedding to husband number three, Robert.

I will leave my synopsis to the brief paragraph above. But know that the plot just keeps spiraling to ever darker places. I dare you to stop reading this enthralling thriller once you pass the 33% mark. Seriously, The Sinful Lives of Trophy Wives is my favorite guilty pleasure read of the summer. 5 stars and a favorite!

Thanks to Ballantine Books, Random House, and NetGalley for a copy in exchange for my honest review.

This is the Stepford Wives on steroids where nothing is as it seems. You will be totally shocked at the outcome when the book ends and still left questioning if everyone was being honest in their motives. The author truly is able to hold the reader to guessing what is truly going on all the way through. People will decide if they love or hate the three ladies Brooke, Erin and Georgia. Each of them have multiple layers of secrets that are tied to each other. They bond because of the secrets that bind them. It is a great page turning story that will leave you guessing and make you want to read the story a second time to make sure you haven’t missed anything. It truly wonderful written with a great plot and unforgettable characters.

In this novel, Brooke moves with her much older tech mogul husband to a fancy gated community in California, where she quickly befriends two neighbors - Erin, a newscaster, and Georgia, known by the media as “the Black Widow” as her previous two wealthy husbands both died not long after she married them and she is engaged to be married again - and then her fiancé goes missing. The book alternates primarily between Brooke and Erin’s perspectives, with a little of Georgia’s at the beginning of the end, and of course all three characters have secrets of their own. It’s a thriller with a very soapy vibe and an entertaining enough read, though for me, it didn’t quite fully work ultimately. All the characters just felt very two dimensional, I pretty much predicted all the twists, and both characters and plot resolution were a little too unbelievable.

My taste in thrillers is a bit out of step with popular taste, so this one will probably be a huge hit. I personally feel like the unreliable narrator(s) device is kind of played out and I’m a little weary of “shocking” twists. But if you enjoy that kind of thing, you’ll probably love it. All that being said, I did find it a propulsive read and stayed up late to finish reading it!

If you’re looking for an easy to read book for the summer, the latest by Kristin Miller absolutely fits the bill! This definitely read like a soap opera or reality TV, with the three main characters completely satisfying my fill for the over-the-top trophy wives of California. Brooke and her tech-billionaire husband move into Presidio Terrace, an exclusive Bay Area enclave where discretion and appearances are both highly prized. She meets her neighbors, Erin and Georgia, who are compelling in their own right. Erin is a news anchor and president of the Presidio Terrace homeowners association grappling with a failing marriage and aging out of her job. Georgia has been nicknamed the Black Widow as her first two husbands have both died mysteriously less than a year after marrying her.

The book really reaches a fever pitch in the lead up to Georgia’s third wedding. When another member of Presidio Terrace goes missing, most are quick to point the finger at Georgia. But is Georgia really to blame? How far will Erin go to have it all? And what did Brooke get herself into?

I enjoyed this book and have to say that the twist at the end was a very pleasant surprise. We got the closure we needed, which I always appreciate. This is a quick read that I took down in three days. Thanks to Random House and Netgalley for providing me with this ARC.

Wow. What a great book. I loved this story. Kept me guessing. Georgia is a hoot. The husbands are all questionable. I read this in one sitting I was so addicted. The reveal at the end gave me whiplash. Did not see it coming. Run do not walk to read this

These three women live exciting lives. It is right out of the lifestyles of the rich and famous. Their lives seem great on the surface, but things aren't always what they seem. There is a surprise twist.

Oh my, ladies you are something else! Presidio Terrace has such very interesting residents indeed! As Brooke Davis moves with her husband, Jack, a billionaire into the new neighborhood, she meets up with her new neighbors. It is a tony neighborhood with mansions, money, partying, money, fancy cars, money, and did I mention money? All of the neighbors are beautiful women. There's Brooke of course, the newest resident , a successful mystery writer who soon teams up with Erin King, a news anchor, married to a renowned plastic surgeon, (lucky her!), and then there's Georgia St. Claire, aka The Black Widow.

Of course, Georgia, is one who elicits lots of speculation, (gossip) as her two previous ultra-wealthy husbands have met their demise under some "slightly" suspicious ends. However, Georgia has found her true love in Robert, another ultra-rich man and is due to marry him shortly. Problem is as the nuptials approach; Robert goes missing and the conjecture is that Georgia has once again proved her mettle in slaying soon to be husband number three.

Brooke and Erin lend their support to poor Georgia, who oddly decides to hold the pseudo wedding while the groom is missing. Robert does eventually turn up, but not in the manner in which Georgia had hoped.

As the ladies' cry, complain, and enjoy each other before and after the missing Robert, we learn of their life style, the sometimes aimless and sometimes dangerous way they lead their lives. But, what about the husbands? Are they the perfect mixture of wealth, handsome and rolling in charm and grace? Or is there something behind their actions when the door to their mansion is closed that bind the ladies together?

This was a fun charged thriller that initially seemed like Desperate Housewives From Wherever, but it indeed had some twists that while it didn't knock my boots off, certainly made it a
fine romp into the world of fame, fortune, deviousness, and of course murder.

Thank you to Kristin Miller, Ballantine Books, and Netgalley for a copy of this story due out July 20, 2021.

This was a fun and quick read that definitely surprised me! I absolutely loved this book until about two thirds in when it got a little too crazy for me but that’s when the action kicked up so I’m sure I’ll be in the minority on that!

Brooke and Jack move to an elite neighborhood known for its exceptional security and wealthy, high power community members. Immediately, her neighbors Erin and Georgia take an interest in her and bring her into their clique. Erin is the association president and Georgia is the infamous ‘Black Widow’ - a moniker dubbed because her previous two husbands died shortly after their weddings. Now, Georgia is engaged to be married to a new man and when he goes missing at their pre-wedding celebration, it appears the Black Widow has struck again. Brooke, captivated by her new friends, is sucked into the drama and thrown into the center of the investigation.

There was a lot going on with this novel and perhaps too much for how short it was. There were several relationship dynamics, vague plot references, and character traits that were alluded to but not fully developed. This didn’t really impact the story for me but I could see it being a pain point for some readers.

I loved the writing and the use of Georgia, Erin and Brooke all being separate narrators. The women were all so different so it was fun hearing their unique voices and learning about their problems and viewpoints. I thought Miller did a great job developing each woman just enough to get a sense of who they were and how they fit together. Their relationship with each other felt just friendly and petty and stab you in the front enough to trigger Real Housewives vibes and I was totally here for it!

This is a great summer read if you’re looking for something quick and a little different! I definitely recommend.

Thank you to Random House / Ballantine and NetGalley for a copy of this novel.

Get ready for a juicy read with this one! Three women and their secrets, jealousies and romances make for twisted type of story that is a perfect poolside read.

Georgia, who has buried two husbands in the last 2 years, is set to marry a third in the next few days. Erin, a newscaster who recently had a meltdown at work and stormed off, is Georgia’s best friend. Brooke, who just moved into the neighborhood is the younger new kid on the block, who hits it off with Georgia and Erin.

Brooke is a mystery writer who finds Georgia and Erin to be great material for her book characters. When Georgia’s fiancé goes missing right before the wedding, Brooke gets even more bookish material, as she and Erin try to help Georgia find her husband.

A shocking twisty ending gives the book a satisfying finish. I’m wondering if future books are in the works, since there were some secrets alluded to with one of the husbands.

Many thanks to NetGalley and Random House Publishing Group-Ballantine for allowing em to read an advance copy and give my honest review.

The Sinful Lives of Trophy Wives, from Kristin Miller, needs a name change. Rich People Behaving Horribly is a much more appropriate title for this look into the lives of three women living in northern California. There’s not a single character that’s likable. And, for me, the bad part is that this isn’t the first book I’ve read this summer with such horrible characters. The Sinful Lives is right up there with May Cobb’s The Hunting Wives. The only saving grace for this is that in TSLoTW no innocents are harmed.

The book is riveting and was virtually impossible to put down. Author Miller has a dynamic voice, even when writing three distinct points of view. I also like how Miller revealed the secrets the women were keeping in a matter-of-fact way. One minute the reader is working to figure out what happened and the next the secrets are casually thrown in. It was a clever way to divulge the secrets and prevent a lot of unnecessary exposition.

But, there was so much that made TSLoTW unlikable. The residents of Presidio Terrace are millionaires and billionaires and there isn’t enough money to make any of them happy. Miller tries to make her characters sympathetic by giving them a “good” reason to behave the way they do, but even that fell flat for me. It wasn’t about why these women were behaving badly; instead, it was how they were behaving and the hoops they jumped through to do so. There are secrets, including some surprising ones, but even as they are revealed I wanted to smack each of the women.

Then there’s the title. Of the three main characters, only one isn’t employed. To say that Erin and Brooke are “trophy” wives is kind of insulting, despite how ridiculous they behaved. I wish I could say the book was fun (as many have insisted) but there’s wasn’t much depth to the story or, really, the characters. Reading about them behaving badly left a bad taste in my mouth even though the only people hurt physically were “bad” people, according to the main characters, Brooke, Erin, and Georgia.

If you’re looking for a quick read with a decent mystery, this book might be for you.

It’s been a bit since I’ve read a thriller and this one is quite enjoyable. It gave me Big Little Lies vibes. Set in an ultra-ritzy neighborhood in California, we follow Brooke, an author and newly married trophy wife as she meets two other women in the neighborhood, Erin and Georgia. Erin is a big newscaster and Georgia is known as the Black Widow, as both her husbands have died and she is now preparing to marry her third husband. But there are hidden secrets in their lives that are starting to come to the surface. This is a quick read and fast paced. The twist at the end was definitely not what I was expecting, but I liked it. This would make for a perfect beach read.

When Brooke and her husband Jack move into a secure gated community, the real estate agent tells them about the Black Widow Georgia and Erin, the zealous president of the HOA. On meeting Brooke, Erin is instantly jealous of the perfect Brooke and her perfect marriage. It shakes up her life. Despite her husband's caution, Brooke is quickly friends with Erin and Georgia. Their characters inspire her mystery writing but all the women have secrets. I received a free copy of this ebook from the publisher through Netgalley. This is my honest and voluntarily given review. From the first chapter, I was captivated by this book. Though I wouldn't want to be friends with any of the women, I find them fascinating. I love how this book rotated between the three women's point of view. This psychological thriller has some interesting twists that kept me riveted. This will be a book that I will be rereading in the future.

Ooh, I loved this book! I went in blind and enjoyed every minute of it. I DID NOT guess the ending and I usually figure out bits and pieces at least. These are the type of women that you love to hate. This is a quick, exhilarating read that will keep you on the edge of your seat. Enjoy the ride!
