Rich People, Community Neighborhoods and Mysterious deaths. That sounds great right? Sure, but for those who like a book that would be semi-believable, I would skip this one. Yes, it did keep my interest and I enjoyed the book very much. However, the farther into the book you got, the more unbelievable it seemed.

This book was super entertaining, and honestly, I did not expect that whatsoever. I did enjoy the first half of the book more than the second, but overall, this was a fun read for me. A one sitting read, for sure.

This one was filled with rich people behaving badly. While normally I love that, it eventually crossed the line into utterly unbelievable. 3 stars.

I kept trying, but I just couldn't force myself to continue on with this book.

The characters are all unlikable to the point where I wanted to physically slap them. It seemed that no one had any likable or even slightly redeemable qualities.

Content is over-the-top drama. I felt like I was sitting through the old soap operas my grandmother used to watch every afternoon.

I'm just so tired of trashy, melodramatic nonsense in supposed suspense and thrillers.

My apologies, but I'm choosing not to finish this one or leave a review anywhere.

The Sinful Lives of Trophy Wives by Kristin Miller is pure trash straight out of a prime-time soap opera. In case y'all are new here, I am pure trash for soap operas. While all y'all were reading Kathleen Woodiwiss I was at my grandmother's knee watching Dallas and mainlining four daytime soap operas (plus Melrose Place...) to survive college with my mental health somewhat intact. If I had a better grasp of the Spanish language I would spiral into a telenovela addiction - seriously, I am trash for soap operas.

Brooke Davies is a mystery writer and trophy wife to Jack, a tech billionaire who is twenty years her senior. Yes they were having an affair and he ended up leaving Wife #1 - you shouldn't even have to ask. Their next move is to buy a home in a ritzy exclusive gated community in the Bay Area - which is where Brooke befriends Erin King, a local TV news anchor, militant head of the home owner's association, and married to a plastic surgeon. However it's Brooke's neighbor next door who is the real piece of work - Georgia St. Claire, dubbed "the Black Widow" after her first two husbands died and left her a very wealthy woman. Georgia is getting ready to marry Victim Husband #3, Robert, and there's much drama and hullaballoo surrounding the impending nuptials, set to happen in less than a week. Naturally things soon turn completely sideways....

Basically what we have here is a story driven by three manipulative rich white bitches - which, hello soap opera. Did I like any of these people? No. Did I question my sanity reading about this people? Yes. And yet I kept reading. Y'all I'm trash for soap operas and this one kept me entertained for a while, until it didn't.

The problem is it doesn't hold up in the end. Some of the twists and "big reveals" are dropped in the reader's lap with all the finesse of a live hand grenade and then there's the ending - which makes no sense because it essentially unravels the narrative that preceded it. And speaking of that ending? Look, I'm all for positive ("happy") endings, but these bitches do nothing over the course of this story to deserve a wine and roses ending. I mean, happy for who? Not the poor schmoes who end up dead, that's for sure. Ultimately my sense of fair play is offended. These bitches deserved fall-out and there just isn't...well, any. It's a page-turner to be sure but it fumbles on the dessert course. Which is probably to be expected - like these three would ever let dessert touch their lips...

Final Grade = C

Thank you to Netgalley, the publisher and the author, for an ARC of this book, in exchange for an honest review.
"The Sinful Lives Of Trophy Wives" by
Kristina Miller was a well written, addictive & entertaining story.
With so many lies & deception, it reminded me of a night time soap opera.
My only regret was that I wished that I had read this book sooner, I had it on my TBR list but for some reason I kept putting off reading it.
I would definitely read another book by Ms. Miller.

The Sinful Lives of Trophy Wives by Kristin Miller is unbelievable - the plot and the characters. There are no consequences for the abuse and the murders that takes place in this book. However, this story is so over the top that it is possible to completely let go of reality and go along for what proves to be a fun ride. I don't know that this is the intent of the book, but it works for me.

I want to thank Netgalley and the author for gifting me the ebook. Love the cover. Great women's drama novel.

I was excited that this was being compared to Desperate Housewives, one of my past guilty pleasures. There are three women in an exclusive gated community in San Francisco who become friends and confidants. They know all (most) of each other's secrets and have done well for themselves by marrying rich men. Two hold jobs but not the kind that would garner the multi-millions that they desire. For that kind of wealth, your rich husband(s) must die. The desperate housewives ladies could learn from Georgia, Erin, and Brooke.

But really, I wouldn't want them to be like these three. These three have zero endearing qualities. I mean zero. Their plots and strategies, while fun and intriguing at first, eventually crossed the line, regardless of their reasons and excuses for doing what they did.

Read this with tongue in cheek and eyes planted firmly on the page to keep them from rolling around too much.

If you can't tell by the title, this one involves a good amount of rich people behaving badly, which I know is a big auto-read phrase for some people. I got this ARC so long ago that honestly, I forgot that it was listed as a thriller, mystery, suspense, etc. Brooke Davies is a mystery writer who just moved to the Bay Area with her husband. She quickly befriends the other trophy wives and learns that nothing is as perfect as it seems. Erin King quits her job on a whim to try to change herself and keep her husband interested. Georgia St. Claire is rumored to have killed her first two husbands. She's now engaged to her third and you're thinking the same thing as everyone else - is he going to be okay? This was a good read, even if it wasn't what I was expecting. I got a little confused by the different points of view, but honestly, that could be due to my attempt at multi-tasking while listening to the audio version.

Great writing! This book embodies the phrase losing yourself in a book! The author makes it so easy to picture yourself right there with the characters, joining in the mystery and the ridiculous. Such a fun book!

I thought this book was a nice, quick read. The drama kept me turning the pages to find out what happens next. This is the first book that I've read by this author, I will look forward to more.

Ooooo The Sinful Lives of Trophy Wives by Kristin Miller was soap-opera dishy and a fun summer thriller. And the ending stopped me in my tracks–I was not expecting that!

Meet the trophy wives of Presidio Terrace, San Francisco's most exclusive neighborhood:

Erin King, popular news anchor and married to plastic surgeon, Mason. Her instagram feed would tell you she lives the perfect life, but her marriage is falling apart and she’s not even sure she truly knows Mason anymore.

Georgia St. Claire is rumored to have murdered her first two husbands for their money, earning her the nickname "Black Widow”. She’s engaged now, but that doesn’t stop the rumors that her fiance will soon be her next victim.

Mystery writer Brooke Davies is the new wife on the block. Her husband Jack is a tech-billionaire and twenty-two years her senior. He doesn’t like that she’s spending more and more time with Erin and Georgia.

And then there’s an accident and no one is sure who is at fault and what is the truth.

What a great listen through @libby.app. Suspenseful and fast-paced.

Scandalous and a page turner. Loved the peek into these seemingly perfect lives. Quickly the reader finds out it isn't as perfect as they seem. Great read. Highly entertaining

Thanks to Netgalley and the publisher for the early copy of this one. I got to it pretty late with an audiobook from the library.

This one was just an okay story for me. The women weren't that interesting and I just wasn't that interested.

This was not an unputdownable, edge-of-your-seat, “can’t go to sleep till finished” type of book, but it was enjoyable and it was worth definitely worth the read. All in all, a solid read if not life altering. But do we always need those? Thanks to the publisher and netgalley for this ARC opportunity !

I really couldn’t put this down from the first page. This book was filled with twist and turns you don’t see coming. I loved each of the characters and was surprised at the ending. All the makings for a good thriller for me!
Special thanks to net galley and the publisher for my gift copy of this book!

I'm a huge fan of books that show us how the other half lives. I love how it shows that the grass is not always greener on the other side, and how not everything is always as it seems.

This book was told in many points of view, which I'm always a fan of. I thoroughly enjoyed each of the character's storylines. The way they all meshed together was done incredibly.

The ending of this book blew my mind. There were so many twists and turns throughout, I just didn't see it coming. I felt as though all of them were plausible and kept me on the edge of my seat.
