This was a fun read. These women are all awful but aren't unlikeable. I think having the story told from all three points of view helps understand their inner doubts and demons to counteract the lavish, rich lifestyle. The plot keeps zigging and zagging in all the best possible ways.
*I received an advance copy of this book from NetGalley and the publisher and I am required to disclose that in my review in compliance with federal law.*
Thank you to the publisher for granting my wish for this book! I was very excited to receive this ARC! This was definitely a glimpse into the trophy wife, rich housewife lifestyle. I felt like I was binge watching Desperate Housewives. I loved the writing style, but otherwise, this book just wasn’t for me. I found myself rolling my eyes at the behavior of these three women, and it was just over the top unrealistic. 3 stars
Brooke moves into a gated community where she meets Erin and Georgia. Georgia has a reputation as a Black Widow because her last two husbands died. Now she is days away from another marriage when her fiancée goes missing.
I was surprised by many aspects of this book. It was a very enjoyable read and I had a hard time putting it down. I loved the relationships between the three women and their husbands. Like many relationships they are not what they appear on the outside.
If you enjoy books with twists and the good people winning in the end, this book is for you!
This is the entertaining story of 3 neighbors who live in an exclusive neighborhood. Erin and her husband Mason and Georgia and her fiancé and Brooke and Jack. Erin is a news anchor who is tired of her cohost and wants more. Mason is a businessman who likes the ladies. Georgia has lost 2 husbands within 4 years and is to be married in a few days. Brooke is a writer and Jack is a successful businessman. Brooke and Jack are the newcomers to the neighborhood. Brooke meets the other ladies and immediately gets caught up in their lives.
The Sinful Lives of Trophy Wives made me feel like I was reading a soap opera. But for some reason I loved it. There are no characters I loved, no one I was rooting for but the fast pace and multiple twists and turns kept me turning the pages. I wish we had more snippets of Brookes life earlier in the book. And there are still some things that confused me about each of the women. But a fun beach read.
This is a juicy wild ride book! The twisty elements in this book poured all over from the beginning to the end. Three rich women, living in (of course) wealthy, substantial neighborhoods, become fast friends to each other, all together involved with a puzzling mystery related to dark secrets from one of them. Told multiple POVs, with great chemistry and it was totally a fast paced read. Very entertaining!.
I can recommend this as a beach read because of the cover, reading in one sitting type, and the juicy twisty elements in this book.
Thank you to Penguin Random House and NetGalley for the digital version of this book. All thoughts and opinions expressed are my own.

I was happily surprised with this book! Erin, Georgia and Brooke are 3 beautiful and rich friends. Erin is a news anchor, Brooke is a writer and Georgia is called the "Black Widow" because her last 2 husbands have passed under weird circumstances. I love that the book has only 3 main characters. The descriptions of the neighborhood and yacht had me feeling like I was a bystander. Without going into TOO much detail. Very entertaining story!
What a wild ride! I absolutely love the title but are you a trophy wife if you have a career (tv anchor and writer) or inherited your money? Regardless, I really enjoyed this book! It was full of surprises, great chemistry between characters, and three point of views. And as much as you wanted to hate these women, it was hard not to love them. I’d definitely recommend if you want a quick read that fun and light.
A really fun read! I loved/loved to hate them all (at different times, felt both those emotions for all three main characters) and while I did see one twist coming, I was surprised by two others. A fast and fun thriller!
This was a twisted story. I did think the story was well written. I just really didn’t care for Erin and Georgia at all.
Thanks to the publisher and Netgalley for the early copy
One look at the title and cover of this book, and you know you’re in for a darkly delicious look at the way the other half lives. “The Sinful Lives of Trophy Wives” is the story of three hot, rich wives in the ultra-exclusive Presidio Terrace neighborhood in San Francisco – Erin, the news anchor; Brooke, the young newcomer; and Georgia, aka the Black Widow. Both of Georgia’s previous husbands died suspiciously, and she’s widely rumored to be responsible for their murders. Now Georgia is engaged to be married a third time… is Robert truly the love of her life, or is the Black Widow poised to strike again?
This book is FUN! It’s billed as a thriller, which it sort of is, but it’s also a catty, soapy, over-the-top guilty pleasure. It’s a fast, light read that’s perfect to tuck in your beach bag. I can totally envision someone reading this by the pool in a big hat and sunglasses, just like the book cover!
Many thanks to NetGalley, Random House, and Ballantine Books for providing me an advance copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.
Mystery writer Brooke Davis is the newest wife in an exclusive gated community of multi-millionaires. This is the story of one “Black Widow” and her two friends. Husbands keep ending up dead, but life goes on.. Nothing and noone are as they appear. I thoroughly enjoyed the wickedly delightful soap-opera quality of this book.
i thought this book would be way better. I had a hard time trying to read this. The story fell flat.
Fun, engaging, and entertaining! This was an enjoyable popcorn read with lots of thrills and twists.
OH MAN! This book had me hooked from the first sentence until the end...HOWEVER, I did not like the ending one bit!
This is the story of Erin, Georgia and Brooke. The story includes husbands, lovers, neighbors, murders and police. It includes a couple of thrills and lots of mystery and intrigue. I did not see the ending coming.
Many thanks to Netgalley and Random House Publishing Group - Ballantine. This advanced readers copy is due to release on July 20, 2021.
As soon as I read the title of "The Sinful Lives of Trophy Wives" I was interested. I can't read enough thrillers about ultra-rich women behaving badly and this one did not disappoint. This is a fun, fast read with some great twists. I highly recommend this one for fans of Real Housewives and thrillers!
Mystery writer Brooke moves into an exclusive community with her rich husband and becomes friends with two other trophy wives. Erin, a news anchor in couples therapy, is fed up with her cohost, and Georgia, known as the Black Widow after the suspicious deaths of her first two husbands, is ready to wed hubby number three. When the groom goes missing, Brooke decides to snoop to gain fodder for her fiction.
I dug how Brooke blatantly defied the strict community rules and had no qualms paying through Georgia’s belongings for clues. The snarky young police detective who zapped zingers at Georgia for her Black Widow nickname was hilarious.
This book, which is told in the perspectives of each of the three trophy wives, is full of pulpy goodness. I flew through the pages and stayed up late for the conclusion that had all the drama the premise promised, however, requires a great deal of suspension of disbelief. This one might disappoint hardcore mystery fans a bit, but makes a juicy beach read.
I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
Thanks to Ballantine Books, an imprint of Random House, for providing an Advance Reader Copy.
You know, I rather enjoyed this! It's completely trashy, vapid, mindless reading, but it turns out that's exactly what I needed right now! I didn't really like any of the characters, but they weren't so repulsive that I didn't want to continue with the book. I've never watched an episode of ANY of the Real Housewives, but I kind of felt like this book is very similar to what those shows are about...just maybe a little more murder-y?
I figured out one of the twists (who the one guy was cheating on his wife with...I KNEW it was her!) around halfway through, so that was no surprise, but the ending definitely was! I gotta say I did NOT see that coming!
You have to suspend a little belief (ok...maybe a lot of belief), and there are a couple of loose ends that aren't fully explained (like how DID the body get into the bay...who put it there and when/how??), but if you don't overthink things and take this for the literary junk-food that it is, it's a pretty enjoyable book! The total definition of 'Beach Read'...a term I actually hate, but which is indeed appropriate here. Beachside or poolside, this book is perfect mindless entertainment.
I really enjoyed this book! Crazy great and super deceitful characters. This was like a rollercoaster. Fast paced with a cast I either loved or loved to hate. Nice story line with lots of twists.
Thank you NetGalley for the opportunity to read and review this book
Where do I begin to describe my experience with this book? I thought I was going to get something tantalizing like a weekly episode of Dynasty (the original 1980s series) with Joan Collins ripping out Linda Evans’ hair in the Olympic sized swimming pool. Instead, I got The Real Housewives meets The Beverly Hillbillies.
Some say it is oh, so delicious and decadent to read about the lives of spoiled, rich, beautiful women, but in this case, I found it just, meh. This may sound a bit harsh, but there were parts I enjoyed, however it took me several attempts to finish the book. The plot concept was interesting; however, I didn’t like any of the main characters in the story. It was impossible for me to feel any connection with or sympathy for them.
The story takes place in the exclusive San Francisco neighborhood of Presidio Terrace where this group of privileged individuals live. First there is Georgia St. Claire, married twice and whose wealthy husbands both died under suspicious circumstances. Now known as the Black Widow, she is about to marry again to Robert, another rich man. Next is her good friend Erin, a news anchor who is unhappy in her job and married to Mason, an arrogant plastic surgeon. Finally, the new girl on the block is Brooke, a mystery writer and her older, wealthy husband, Jack. As I mentioned before, this is not a likeable group of people, and they have a lot of secrets that are just waiting to tumble out.
I won’t say more, except many shenanigans ensue and one must suspend a lot of disbelief. While this wasn’t the book for me, don’t let that stop you from indulging. I can see how many will enjoy it and it will make for a good beach read. I thank NetGalley and publisher, for the opportunity to read it. I gave it three stars.
