Wow! Starts a little slow, but just keeps getting better! A fantastic book - really enjoyed the story, and by the middle couldn’t put it down until I saw how it ended! Great read!!!!
The perfect beach read, that goes down as easy as a strawberry daiquiri, but with the bite of a twisty murder mystery. Nothing too deep here, but a good, fun time. Thank you to Netgalley and the publisher for providing this ARC in exchange for an honest review.
WOW! This book was a dream for someone like me. I have a secret love of all things Housewives, Dynasty, All the rich spoiled women shows, I can’t get enough and this just fed into my obsession. These women had a somewhat dark sense of humor which I love. This is a quick humorous read and I enjoyed it so much I need to see what else the author has written. Thank you for letting me read an arc of a book I doubt I would have picked on my own, but would have really missed
This book wasn't for me, but others might like it. The characters weren't likeable and even issue that were serious were dealt with in a superficial way. Maybe it was just meant to be a satire. It was a quick read about three rich beautiful women, their friendship and their marriages
From the blurb, I expected a good gossipy beach read: catty comments, glimpses into the High Life, and a little murder and mayhem for good measure. But what I found was a story full of characters that were irritating rather than snarky, and a plot that stretched the bounds of credulity beyond the breaking point. I found the women to feel like stereotyped caricatures and their husbands to feel even worse. The plot felt like I was watching Dynasty or Falcons Crest reruns from the 80s. And while there's nothing wrong with that, if it is served in a frothy dishy confection of a story that is easy to flip through, this wasn't that either - it felt like a slog, and was way more effort then the payout justified. This just wasn't the book for me...
A frothy "Big Little Lies" style books about wealthy wives with secrets and dead husbands.
I enjoyed the story but felt a little formulaic to me. It would make a fun TV movie.
I wanted to read this as it sounded like an enjoyably beachy book set in one of the toniest parts of San Francisco where I live. It was nearly all of those things though not quite as enjoyable as I was hoping.
Brooke and her husband move into gated Presidio Terrace and, immediately, Broke gets involved in the lives of her neighbors, Erin and Georgia. Georgia is known as the Black Widow as her two very rich husbands both died in slightly suspicious circumstances - one an accident, the other a suicide - and she’s about to get married for the third time. Erin is a local news anchor who’s just stormed off her job and her marriage to a cosmetic surgeon is failing.
Georgia’s fiance disappears, just a few days before the wedding and the plot takes off from there. There are more abrupt swerves in it than on Lombard Street and the arrow in my credibility-o-meter was in the red zone pretty much for the whole book. There is some attempt at glossiness and brand name dropping (though the author should know that it’s Louboutins that have the red soles not Louis Vuittons) and a bit of authentic San Francisco scene setting, though not as much as I was hoping for,
The novel is narrated by Erin and Brooke with a top and tail from Georgia. I didn’t find the characters particularly distinctive or developed and the men are wholly one-dimensional. There are some tragic notes in all of the women's past and current lives but I found these to sit rather lumpily with the (presumably intentional) blackly comic tone of the plot.
I’m not sure why the author has decided to set the novel over such a short time period as it added to my stretched credulity about the rest of the novel. It seems highly unlikely that Brooke would view a house for sale on one day and then move into it the next. It also seems extraordinary, that amidst all the shenanigans going on, she has time to basically rewrite a novel in 3 days.
As far as I can see, setting it over 6 months wouldn’t have significantly changed the narrative but as I’m not an author I could well be wrong.

I was excited to have the chance to read and review this book. I read across a lot of genres, to include women’s fiction, mystery, and thrillers, so I was intrigued by the three women and the premise of the story. For me, the story strayed into territory where I found the characters unlikable and unredeemable and there were a few plot areas that struck me as too pat and convenient for what I look for in a compelling story. I kept reading, hoping for a moment in the book that would make me change my mind, but I only found more things that didn’t work for me.

3.5 stars for the entertainment factor.
The title says it all! It's an entertaining, sinfully addicting book ready to be taken with you to the beach. It's like watching a trainwreck of a soap opera of the 80's, but you can't put it down and you are always wondering what these women are going to do next.
Erin, Brooke and Georgia are the 3 narrators (with Erin taking up most of the duties, followed by Brooke). They are rich, entitled women living in a gated community coming together for the "greater good". One of them is known as the Black Widow because her previous 2 husbands' died untimely deaths, another is her best friend, and the last one is new to the community but is quickly welcomed into the duos' friendship. When the Black Widow is set to marry a new man, all eyes are on her and the other two are along for the extravagant ride. What happens next is totally reminiscent of a little Desperate Housewives.
I'm all for a thriller and throw in some crazy housewives and we have some fun and campy entertainment coming our way. There were a couple things toward the beginning that the characters said about their lives and then changed their tunes the next chapter. I didn't know if that was intentional or just being unreliable, but it left me seeing a few things wrong with the plot. With that said, the women and their friendship was at the forefront of this story and that part was as strong as the women were. None of them were real standouts, personality wise, but they were fun to watch navigate the secrets and lies they were keeping from one another.
Overall, this was an entertaining thriller that was thought out, but it was nothing too original. I'd seen it before but at least the characters were all in it together and the setting was believable for a Lifetime movie ;). The women weren't exactly likable and one of them was a little flat personality-wise until the last chapter when you get a twist that seems a little far fetched, but one we needed. The ending kind of made me laugh, in a good way. Definitely a fast read that will be perfect to read on vacation.
What a deliciously sinful read. Lovers of the Real Housewives, Desperate Housewives, and Revenge will quickly devour this domestic thriller. I certainly did. The perfect book to read poolside with a tall glass of something sweet and strong nearby. It was exactly what I hoped it would be.
4.5 stars rounded up to 5. Thank you NetGalley & Ballantine Books for the e-ARC!
This is the first book I’ve read by Kristin Miller and it will not be my last! I thought this book was a lot of fun and kept me guessing the whole time.
I think if you decide to read this book, you should go into this book blind because of all the twist and turns this story brings. If you like juicy drama with murder mystery this book is for you.
I thoroughly enjoyed this book from start to finish. It is a great summer read! I will be keeping my eyes out for other books by Kristin Miller since I really liked this one.
Thank you NetGalley and Ballantine Books for the ARC I’m exchange for my honest opinion.
The Sinful Lives of Trophy Wives is my first book by Kristin Miller. Loved the title and it couldn't be more true! The story takes place in a gated community for the ultra rich called Presidio Terrace. We meet Brooke and her husband Jack when they are first moving into the neighborhood. Upon moving in we meet two more trophy wives - Erin who is a TV anchor and Georgia who is about to be married to husband number 3. Her first two husbands died under mysterious circumstances which have earned her the name of the Black Widow. Are these women and their lives as perfect as they seem? What secrets are they hiding? A real page turner that you have to check out!
Can this be a series? I need more than one.
This book is so fun. I enjoyed this book so much! It felt like watching a reality TV show that should be aired on Bravo - very Real Housewives vibes. It certainly brings the drama, with tons of twists and turns to keep you hooked. It's a fast-paced read with intriguing characters who live up to the "sinful lives" title.
I suggest just going in blind with this book so you can be shocked as the drama unfolds. But either way, you have to read this book.
Thanks to Ballantine Books and NetGalley for my ARC.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
A quick read! Dark and delicious this books was hard to but down. Told by three of the trophy wives in a gorgeous San Fransisco gated community life is not always as good as it may seem!! Brooke, Georgia and Erin may be living the life of luxury but behind closed doors is a whole other story. Some of the plot twist were a bit over the top but I enjoyed the juicy read!!
Thank you to Ballentine books and NetGalley for sending me a copy of this book for an exchange of my honest review.

This story was like a juicy Lifetime movie! Drama, secrets and lies will keep you guessing what these sinful trophy Wives are up to until the very end. Great thrilling read!
This was a fabulous soapy summer read that centers around three women in a small, secured neighborhood and the secrets that they keep. The plot revolved around a short five day period where all the action and drama occurs. It starts when Brooke, the younger second wife to a tech billionaire moves into an exclusive neighborhood outside of San Francisco. The other two women, Georgia and Erin also have secrets of their own. The story switches between the three women's perspectives as the events unfold. It was a quick read and the twists never stopped. Highly recommend for a fun beach or pool read!
Thank you to Ballantine Books for my gifted copy.
When I picked this up, I wasn't quite sure where it was headed but it definitely got my attention right from the start! It reads like a thriller with a hint of desperate housewives, making it an easy, fast, and enjoyable read.
loved following the three characters as their lives intertwined in a twisted and messy way, and it definitely kept me guessing until the end. I would consider this a "light" thriller but I thoroughly enjoyed it.
The writing style is exactly what I love- clear, concise, and constantly moving ahead. This would make a great book to throw in your beach bag this summer.
The Sinful Lives of Trophy Wives was a fun escape from reality kind of read! It was just the kind of book I needed to read. I was immediately pulled into the story of these sinful wives. Told between the POV of Brooke, Erin, and Georgina. It was like reading an episode of the Desperate Housewives. Maybe a more darker version though! It kept my attention and I couldn’t wait to see how it all played out. Loved the last reveal at the end! Not exactly what I thought it was gonna be. Thank you to NetGalley and Random House Publishing Group - Ballantine Books for the ARC!!!
When young trophy wife - and mystery author - Brooke moves into the exclusive neighborhood of Presidio Terrance, she befriends her new neighbors and soon discovers all the secrets they have hiding.
While everything seems picture perfect for Brooke, her much older husband is controlling. Meanwhile, neighbor Erin King thinks she has the clout as a long time news anchor to throw a fit at a coworker and then learns that she just might be replaceable. When she quits her job on a whim to try to keep her husband from finding a newer model, she may have to face facts that he's not who she thought he was. And other neighbor Georgia St. Claire is the most infamous - the glamorous wife of not one, but two wealthy husbands who have died under odd circumstances, and a third man she's days away from marrying. When the third one goes missing, has her Black Widow curse struck again? And what is each woman hiding?
There are plenty of secrets and wealth going on with these women. While their lives might not have been as "sinful" as I'd hoped, its still a fun domestic noir book with plenty of style.
This is probably a 3.5 rounded to 4 stars. I thought this was a fun, fluffy read with lots of drama, some twists and some witty dialogue. This one felt like Big Little Lies with Real Housewives of Insert City as the main characters. The book keeps you from knowing who to believe, wanting justice served but you're also waiting for the twist that you can sense coming in the coming chapters. I felt like a bit more character backstory and plot development could have really pushed this one into a stunning thriller, but overall it was a fun, mostly light, murder mystery with some female empowerment added into the mix. Thanks to Netgalley and Ballentine Books for this e-ARC in exchange for my honest review.
