This book took me by surprise. There were twists and turns and I thought I was following along quite well when BAM it took a twist at the end I did not see coming. The book was very interesting and the time flew by as I read it. It’s not often that I’m surprised by an ending so I was pleasantly surprised. This was a new to me author and I will definitely be reading more books by Kristin Miller. I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced free copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own. I received a copy from the publisher through NetGalley.
This was an interesting read. I thought it was unique to have a story told from 3 different perspectives. It reminded me of Desperate Housewives for sure! Since the characters were generally unlikable and it was only the drama anchoring me to the story I kind of felt less invested. I would have liked to have someone to root for. I also felt like I couldn’t get a sense of the characters and their husbands. I couldn’t tell if Robert was a cheater or just a flirt. Was Jack controlling or did Brooke just lean into her innocent act? Erin was wild and spoke her mind, but then let the men in her life control her. I guess I found them to be very contradictory at times. Overall I still kept picking the book up, and liked the twists at the end. I thought the last 25% of the book was the best part.
Rich people behaving badly? Yes, please. Devious and dishy, THE SINFUL LIVES OF TROPHY WIVES follows Brooke Davies, an aspiring writer and wife of a San Francisco billionaire. When Brooke moves into an exclusive neighborhood she is welcomed with open arms by Georgia St. Claire and news anchor Erin King.
Brooke is intrigued by larger-than-life Georgia, and the dark cloud of rumors that loom over her. After her first two wealthy husbands met suspicious and unexpected ends, she was given the name “The Black Widow". When a tragic accident finds its way into the neighborhood, accusations fly and the women must band together to find the truth.
This is exactly the book I want to be flipping through as I’m lounging by the pool. With boundless secrets and high stakes, the lives of these deceitful women made for a very compelling read. Kristin Miller has written a light psychological suspense novel that delves into timely themes such as identity, comparison, and contentment. I loved the exploration of human nature and what lengths people will go to protect their image, livelihood and secrets.
Readers who loved THE HUNTING WIVES won’t want to miss this one. If you’re like me and were intrigued by the premise of THE HUNTING WIVES but didn’t love the content, THE SINFUL LIVES OF TROPHY WIVES may be a better fit for you. Be sure to pick this one up for a juicy summer read!

A big thank you to NetGalley and Ballantine Books for an electronic ARC in exchange for an honest review.
I was excited to start reading this book since I used to life in San Francisco, and the first few chapters definitely caught my interest. However, the characters then started to do things that seemed wholly out of character or just kind of dumb and the dialogue seemed a little clunky. The twist at the end also didn't make much sense to me and it almost seemed unnecessary to give the main character that story. It just didn't come together as I wish it would have.
This was a quick read, but definitely wasn’t that exciting and was pretty predictable. I also felt there were some inconsistencies in the story that will hopefully be addressed before publication.
I’m sure many will enjoy this. I just would have liked to see more character and story development.
Thank you to NetGalley and Ballantine Books for the opportunity to read this book for an honest review.
I have to start by saying that I love psychological thrillers and anything to do with housewives or trophy wives. This on grabbed me from the beginning and didn't let go!
Three well off women in a fabulous San Francisco neighborhood with many secrets. This is a quick moving beach read with lots of twists and turns and a WOW ending that I didn’t see coming. The characters are not all that likeable but each is nice enough to keep you guessing as to which one is the most evil.
This was such a fun book. I figured out some of it but not all of it. They are not really likeable characters but that was all right. Wish I was drinking a mimosa while reading this. Thanks to Netgalley for the opportunity to read this book
WOW! Absolutely loved this book! I very much enjoyed the trophy wives Georgia, Erin, and Brooke. I felt as though I was right there with them on Presidio Terrace. I literally could not put this book down. I was desperate to find out what was going to happen next and Kristin Miller just kept on with the thrilling drama of these housewives. Such a fast and fun read!
This was a fun read!! Definitely didn’t see the end coming!! I didn’t particularly feel sympathy for any of these women, but it was fun to live vicariously for awhile.
Out July 20th!
If you're looking for a super quick read, this is a great choice! Definitely would categorize this as a good summer read for all you folks out there looking for something to read while posted up next to the pool.
This book gave me a combination of Desperate Housewives and Big Little Lies, both of which I love. The main characters weren't particularly likable (as you'll see in other reviews) but I think it worked. I'm not sure the intention was for them to be likable, but their characters were well developed and sassy.
There were some good twists throughout the story that left me surprised, and overall it was easy to get lost in this one and flip through 100 pages in no time. Would recommend!

So let me start this review off by saying thank you to #NetGalley for the ARC of #TheSinfulLivesofTrophyWives by Kristen Miller. This book was definitely a curve-ball! These are the kind of thrillers I love to read because you feel as if you got the whole thing figured out and then the author goes in a whole different storyline direction. I love the writing style used by Kristen Miller in this novel because it help with the easy flow of reading. About 3/4th of the way through I felt like the storyline was going to start to plateau but about the time I began to think about that.... BAM!! The ending of this novel will have your head spinning and your mind racing!! You should definitely have this on your 2021 New Release TBR!
The Sinful Live of Trophy Wives is a dark thriller sprinkled with comedy about three trophy wives — Brooke, a mystery writer; Erin, a television news anchor; and Georgia, a “Black Widow” (whose first two husbands died and who is getting ready to marry her third) — all of whom live in a super secure and wealthy enclave filled with mega mansions in the San Francisco area. (The area is so exclusive that it does not appear on Google maps!) The story, told from alternating perspectives of each of the three wives, eventually centers on the disappearance of Georgia’s fiancee Robert a few days before their wedding. Through the investigation and untangling of this mystery, the reader learns a great deal about the three wives, especially many of the secrets that each harbors from her past.
This novel is a perfect beach/vacation read, one that is entertaining from start to finish and has plenty of twists and turns, particularly in the last third of the book. True, most of the characters are pretty unlikeable — especially the men — but that did not distract me from turning the pages quickly to see what happened next. I think this novel would particularly appeal to fans of the tv series Desperate Housewives, but anyone who is ready for an intriguing thriller that is a quick read will enjoy this one.
If your summer is craving some twisty-turny WTF-ness this is the book for you!
I hated everyone in this book while rooting for them at the same time. It was a wild ride from start to finish and I applaud the author for keeping me on my toes.
Thank you to NetGalley and Ballantine Books for an eARC copy of this novel in exchange for my honest review.
Wow, what a ride!
This story follows the lives of three wives who are neighbors in San Francisco’s affluent Presidio Terrace. A slow unraveling of the secrets these “trophy wives” carry makes for quite the adventure!
I went into this expecting something along the lines of desperate housewives (it definitely has those vibes) but ended up impressed by the introspection of the characters and every new twist that was revealed. Miller did a fantastic job of threading plot twists through the end of the story. It was a fun and fast-paced read that I couldn’t put down!
Great for those who like to escape into a psychological suspense without excessively gory details.
Thank you Netgalley and Random House - Ballantine Books for the e-ARC in exchange for an honest review.

When I say this is a ride, I mean like the Indy 500, on the back of a bike with no helmet and one low tire. This shit is outrageously delicious perfection.
I am almost never shocked by twists, but this has me SHOOK to my core.
Just read it. Whatever you do, READ IT.
5/5 ✨ all day and all week.
I thought this book was a lot of fun. It centers on 3 friends in an exclusive Northern CA neighborhood; Brooke is new to the area, Erin is balancing a career and her husband's needs, and Georgia is getting ready to marry her 3rd husband after the 1st two died under mysterious circumstances. The chapters alternate between the POVs of these 3 characters.
The pacing of the book was fast and the short chapters kept me turning pages. While the characters aren't super relatable, I did find them to be somewhat likeable; they weren't as shallow or vapid as characters often are in books about the uber-rich "trophy wives". These characters had strong convictions and juicy secrets.
I do wish I would have gotten a little more background on the women, especially Erin- there is a little bit of background info but I felt like some details were missing. I also feel like the author alluded to further secrets between Brooke and her husband that never actually came to light. That being said, the secrets that were revealed fascinated me and also provided some twists I didn't see coming.
All in all, I enjoyed this book and found it to be a perfect beach read. Fast paced and juicy with an interesting plot. Thanks to Netgalley for providing me a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.
Thank you to NetGalley for this ARC. Brooke and her husband move into an exclusive neighborhood of millionaires. Her neighbor, Georgia is known as the "Black Widow" because her first two, extremely rich husbands died under suspicious circumstances. Georgia's fiancé disappears during their engagement party and it looks like she is guilty. Brooke wants to know if Georgia has anything to do with the deaths and disappearance or if she is truly innocent. Pretty good read though I figured it out. #thesinfullivesoftrophywives #kristinmiller #july2021
Even though the story was somewhat predictable, I couldn’t stop reading because Miller's writing style kept me holding on, wondering what the heck those vicious women will get themselves into!! I was hooked as soon as I read the opening: where Georgia was in the hospital, trying to remember pieces from the car accident! The trio of women at the center of this story are Georgia St. Claire, Erin King, and Brooke Davies, and they have no difficulty finding/causing drama. This book has Wisteria Lane vibes, served with a side of drama, divas, and murder. Even though it was a bit predictable, this story still held my attention enough to escape and enjoy!
Thank you, NetGalley!
Thank you Netgalley and the publisher for my copy.
Unfortunately I thought the book was very slow. At 40% in I gave up. I loved the idea of the book and thought it would be much juicier and twisty than it was.
