As soon as I saw the title of the book "The Sinful Lives of Trophy Wives" I had to read it. I mean, that is a DELICIOUS title... and I'm not even one of those "Real Housewives" TV watchers!
By and large the book lived up to its title, bringing to mind deviousness, twists and turns and general naughtiness. I wasn't overly surprised by the ending but that is okay.. that wasn't really my goal with this one.
A good beach read. I give it 3.5 stars, rounding up to 4.
Thank you to Netgalley and the publisher for a galley edition of this book in exchange for an honest review.
Money does not always buy you happiness! Just ask the women who live within the walls of Presidio Terrace a gated and most elite community in San Francisco.
Brooke – newly married to her husband who is about 20 years her senior. She is a novelist though nobody takes her too seriously.
She has a way of hiding in plain sight.
She is the newest wife on the block and instantly takes to Georgia and Erin
Georgia – we can just call her the black widow. Two of her husbands have recently passed due to tragic circumstances. She is now engaged to fiancé number three. Will he survive till the epilogue?
Erin – Newscaster for the local TV station. She has a meltdown and walks away from her job. She wants to live Brooke’s seemingly simple life of a trophy wife.
But do we really know what goes on behind closed doors?
This is a very fast-paced easy read that I thoroughly enjoyed. There are some great twists at the end that completely shocked me!
If you are looking for something lite and would be a fun beach read! This is it! Happy reading!
A buddy read with Susanne!

Thank you to NetGalley and Random House Publishing Group – Ballantine for granting my wish!
Holy smokes! This book gah i cant form words to explain it. Because just wow. Reading this made me feel like i was sinful and living right in the pages. First book ive read by this author and im highly surprised and will be picking up more. I cant wait to own this in paperback because this book was the best everyone needs to own it
The first half of this book was amazing. Like I was so caught up in the twisted lives of these three women. It was on the road to a four or five star review. My main complaint was that I sometimes had a hard time telling one character from the other. Well they had significantly different things going on in their lives, their voices were very similar.
But then the second half of the book hit… And it just got weird. Some of the things characters said, did, and thought, were in complete opposition to things they said and did in the first half of the book. The plot took lots of wild turns, but they seemed almost random. Things that happened early in the book felt like cheap plot devices to cause motivation in the second half of the book. In the end, I found myself skipping chapters just to get it done.
It is still a fun read. Definitely a guilty pleasure type of read. I would consider reading something else by this author in the future. But I just feel like this book could have been a better done/cleaned up in editing.
A delightfully devious journey into a gated community. Everyone here is putting on airs, so who really knows what is truth? And who will survive the fallout. Who are your true friends when you keep your friends close and your enemies closer? A fun, fast paced early read from NetGalley!
The trophy wives in question are Georgia, Erin, and Brooke. Brooke is the new resident of Presidio Terrace, an exclusive ultra-rich gated community in San Francisco where many rich entrepreneurial men and their young wives happen to live. Brooke is married to a secretive and controlling billionaire, and she develops a fascination with Georgia, who is nicknamed the “Black Widow” because her two previous husbands have died under mysterious circumstances.
This book was a little old-fashioned — there are rich female entrepreneurs in SF, too, of course! — but it is clearly meant to be a kitschy, dishy throwback to the soapy dramas of the 80s like Dallas or Falcon Crest in which the young trophy wives run amuck while the businessmen do their business. There’s plenty of rich people fun in lavish homes and on yachts. When Black Widow Georgia’s latest fiancée disappears, TV journalist Erin and mystery writer Brooke are drawn into the mystery. Is Georgia actually a multiple man-murderer for money or is something else sinister at play? Also, why is there something wrong with all these women’s’ husbands?
This book is over the top outrageous and not at all realistic, especially the end, but that’s the whole fun of it. This is a well-written and enjoyable scandalous summer beach read that will provide you with escapist fun and entertaining hijinks. Recommended rich-people entertainment!
Thanks to Random House, NetGalley abd the author for the ARC!
This book was a deliciously dark romp through the lives of a few housewives of an exclusive San Francisco neighborhood and what, on the surface, appears to be idyllic marriages, but in reality is a twisted web of secrets: there’s Georgia, the Black Widow whose two previous husbands both died within the last four years, who is engaged to Robert with the wedding days away; Erin, Georgia’s best friend and news anchor, who is battling through questions in her marriage and troubles at work; and Brooke, new neighbor, wife to a tech billionaire, and mystery novelist. Each of the women are quite flawed, and at any given moment it’s difficult to decide who is most likable. And yet, the book was completely enjoyable. It was fast paced and I finished it in less than two days. The chapters change perspective from the different women, and lead up to and follow an “accident,” which we finally learn about toward the end of the book.
I can see this as a great beach read or plane read! Thank you to NetGalley for Providing me with an advance reader copy in exchange for my honest review.
This was my first read by this author. I was immediately sucked into this world. Erin and Georgia welcomed Brooke into their circle pretty fast, which I thought was suspicious, but they were just that nosey! All the secrets swirling around you just didn't know who to trust or believe. I loved the drama in this book. It wasn't too much and just enough to have you question everybody's motive. When the pieces started clicking together you are left a little flabbergasted. I did not see that coming in the end. This would be a great book club read. I highly recommend immersing yourself into the sinful world of Presido Terrace and see what these trophy wives really get up to!

I enjoyed this one! The last twist was completely unexpected. My main reason for giving it three stars is that I couldn’t stand Erin, and she narrated half of the book. It was also just a tad all over the place, I felt like people were dying left and right! I enjoyed the suspenseful buildup and the general premise of the plot.
Long time friends, intertwined stories, secrets and deception leads to a mistaken murder. But only one of them kos it was the wrong person and in the meantime, everyone is left to ponder why.
People with more money and ambition than character or scruples - a murder bodice ripper.
This was ok to read, wanting to see what happens next, but not overly captivating.
Holy smokes! I was floored by this murder mystery book. Miller wowed with twists and turns that I never even suspected! My mind feels like a happy pile of scrambled eggs- a mushy, hot mess that enjoyed this fantastic syory.
I'm having a hard time really rating this, so I think I will give it a 3.5. I liked all the characters. I liked the plot. Some of the events were terribly predictable, and if I'm being honest, it was kind of a mess overall. I think there are some major plot holes in this infrastructure. I wanted to know more about the abuse. And most of it seemed so unbelievable that it was almost laughable. All the events and the characters seemed way too forced. It was definitely not a fluid read. There was just so much left to be desired with every one of the characters. And just the whole brushing off of all the death and the plotting....So I'm in my feelings a lot on this one. I really want to love it because it's so creative, but I just can't. I can only describe it as a guilty pleasure read that will leave you frustrated.
Thank you so much to NetGalley for this advanced reader's copy for an honest review.
Hello "Real Housewives." This is a fast-paced book of three women on a wild ride of intoxicating suspense.
These wives are beyond gorgeous with bodies that most readers can only imagine. They own expensive wardrobes and jewelry that tops the charts and of course, they are with men that fit the bill. They live in the same exclusive San Francisco neighborhood with a view of the Pacific Ocean and Golden Gate Bridge.
There's Georgia who is known as the "black widow." Two of her recent husband's have mysteriously died and she's getting ready to marry her third. Jack seems perfect although he's having a love affair with his yacht which he has named, "Maxine."
Her best friend, Erin, has a professional career as a news anchor with a self-serving attitude always worrying about keeping up with her image. She's married to Mason, a noted plastic surgeon.
Brooke seems nice. She writes murder mysteries and what better neighborhood to be in to get some tips for her best-selling novels. Her billionaire husband, Jack, bought the house in Presidio Terrace for his wife. He's 22 years older on his second marriage but she sees him as a good catch.
The author makes this an easy and quick read with the strong beginning. We either love the characters or dismiss them. But whatever it is, we keep reading to see what happens next.
My thanks to Kristin Miller, Ballantine Books and NetGallery for allowing me to read this advanced copy to be released on July 20, 2021
Wow! I went into this book blind. I was so surprised, I loved it !
“To skeletons in closets that never see the light of day .”
These three ladies are exactly who you want in your corner. This book was a roller coaster from start to finish. These ladies made me laugh and want to pack my bags and move to Presidio Terrace right away.
This is the first book I have read by this author, and definitely won’t be the last…I enjoyed this book so much and I highly recommend it. I so want to see this made into a movie!
This was a nice, easy read that I really enjoyed. I thought the ending was a bit far fetched, but overall it was a good book.
Brooke is a newlywed to the billionaire techie, Jack. They decide to move to a very exclusive gated community, where Brooke meets HOA President Erin and her best friend Georgia. Georgia is nicknamed the “Black Widow” after her first two husbands suddenly and violently died — and she’s days away from her third wedding! Brooke finds herself fascinated by the two women and splits her time between writing her newest murder mystery and hanging out with her new girlfriends. Is the Black Widow a vicious murderer or the victim of cruel luck? Will her third marriage end in happiness?
This is the perfect summer beach read! Fun, light, and enjoyable with an unexpected twist at the end make for a great few hours of reading. I found a lot of this read predictable, but there were a few twists that enhanced what I expected. There are characters you’ll love to hate!
Thank you to the author, publisher, and NetGalley for my ARC. All opinions are my own!
Thank you to NetGalley for an ARC of The Sinful Lives of Trophy Wives.
I'm always up for a juicy beach read so I was excited when my request was approved.
Brooke, Erin and Georgia live in the enviable neighborhood of Presidio Terrace; Brooke is the trophy wife of a tech billionaire, Erin is a newscaster and wife to a notable plastic surgeon and Georgia (AKA The Black Widow) is about to marry the love of her life, her third husband.
But, all is not well in this lush and privileged enclave and the secrets the three women share quickly bind them together, for better or for worse.
As some reviewers noted, this is a guilty pleasure to read; women who lunch, men who make and break deals; the atmosphere is rich and cloying, the clothes are expensive and lush, and there's really no one to sympathize or root for.
Yet, the author has done something unusual; when these types of books usually feature backbiting, sniping, jealous women, Brooke, Erin and Georgia quickly become close friends, united in their complicity to break the law and protect one another.
There are plenty of hard to believe scenes but I went with it because that's what the book is about; the opulence, the ridiculousness of these people, the swarmy and the charming.
I enjoyed the twist (another hard to suspend disbelief revelation) but I expected it and the ending was satisfying. Girls rule and boys drool.
Take The Sinful Lives of Trophy Wives to the beach and enjoy it with a mimosa or two!
I loved this book and couldn't put it down. Unexpected twists and turns with great characters makes this book a winner!
Thank you to the publisher and Net Galley for the opportunity to read this novel. I'd read a previous book by this author, which I enjoyed, so I was happy to read another.
The Sinful Lives of Trophy Wives was a quick read, and it kept my attention. The story takes place in Presidio Terrace, a gated community in the suburbs of San Francisco. Point of view alternates among three complex women: Georgia (twice widowed, recently engaged, nicknamed "the Black Widow" because both her husbands died under mysterious circumstances), Erin (head of the Homeowners Association and famous new anchor, married to a plastic surgeon who might be cheating on her), and Brooke (new to the neighborhood, mystery author, married to a much-older tech billionaire). The characters are interesting if not completely likable.
Things go terribly wrong after an engagement party honoring Georgia and Robert, her fiance, on his yacht. Despite their differences, the women form an unholy alliance, but their friendship is tested..
The ending was surprising and a little jarring.
Recommended for readers who like watching soap operas or looking in on the lives of the rich and famous.
This book sucked me in right from the very first page and kept me rapt until the final very twisted twist! I love books where you don't see something huge coming. Where you don't figure who-dun-it or why they did it. Well, that's what I got with this book.
When you read this line in the book's description, "Meet the trophy wives of Presidio Terrace, San Francisco’s most exclusive—and most deadly—neighborhood in this shrewd, darkly compelling novel..." just know that it is totally true!
This was the most twisted, spellbinding novel I have read in ages and will be the perfect read for the beach or beside the county club pool.
A quick note -the book's description doesn't tell you all of what you need to know about it, and that is an excellent thing. Just trust me when I say you just have to read this book.
I will be recommending it to everyone I know who loves mysteries, glamour, and evil @itches!
