This book was like 3 woman on real housewives. It was a tangled bunch of lives with a few murder mysteries thrown in there. Good over all. Short read that I couldn’t stop reading and had to finish to find out who did it. Although very predictable as to who done it but still enjoyed he ride the books takes you on. Thank you NetGalley for this advanced copy of this book.
Wow! This book was quite a thriller! I love domestic suspense books, and this one did not disappoint. If you are a fan of Desperate Housewives, or the Real Housewives, this book is for you. It was juicy, gossipy, and lavish. The twists kept me guessing and being surprised the whole time. This was a quick, easy read and I really enjoyed it. I received a free copy of this book from netgalley and the publisher in exchange for my honest review.
Thank you NetGalley for the ARC of this one.
It’s like a dark Real Housewives.
Brooke is the new kid in the prestigious neighborhood, she is a writer and her husband is an extremely wealthy tech builder.
She meets Georgia and Erin; both who live in the neighborhood. Georgia is engaged to be married a third time. Her first two husbands died under should we say suspicious circumstances and she has never stood trial for their deaths. Many think she had something to do with it and has been labeled a black widow.
Erin is married and a news anchor. Her husband is distant and very wealthy.
The three wives get entangled in a mystery when Georgia’s fiancé goes missing after an engagement party on their yacht.
Lots of sneakiness, misleading conversations and mystery make up this thriller.
I loved the wives; they made me laugh out loud for some of their flip comments, and as the stuff piles up how they handle things.
The story changes perspectives and I always enjoy that because you get to know each character and what they’re thinking.
I thought all the characters were well thought out and some of them you loved to hate.
The ending was quite good and wrapped up very well.
I would definitely like to read more thrillers from this author.
Get ready for CLAWS OUT for this one as three high dollar trophy wives of the rich and famous each tell their tale of events that will forever bind them together. You’ll find yourself asking, is this what it means to be among the beautiful, plastic people? If so, maybe being able to be yourself and in middleclass world isn’t so bad, after all!
This was a fun read, especially because I love suburban/family dramas.
I read this in one sitting!! This book grabbed me and did not let go. So many twists. So many times I guessed wrong! Being a trophy wife looks amazing on the outside and someone that everyone envy’s. But be careful what you wish for. Deceit, hidden secrets, dead husbands- this book has it all! I could go on but I don’t want to give anything away. You will have to take your own roller coaster ride. I thank the author and Netgalley for providing me with today’s escape.
Wow!!! I loved this story line! There was mystery, suspicion, humor, and friendship all wrapped together to form this fun book. The reader gets the perspective of three women whose lives become intertwined in more than a neighborly way.
I also loved how the author discussed a bigger topic of how wives may be viewed like they have it all together. But we never know what goes on behind closed doors.
The ending took me completely by surprise and I loved that!
This one is a must read for those who love mysteries!
HOLY SHIT- this ending blew my mind. I need a few days to give it the review it deserves.
5 stars, Bravo Kristin Miller!
This was a fun escapist book about three very rich women all living in the same enclave.
The book features suspected murderess Georgia, young second wife and mystery writer Brooke, and television anchor Erin. All the women were much smarter than trophy wife would have you believe.
I enjoyed this fun and twisty book, and I would read another by Kristin Miller.
The ‘Sinful Lives of Trophy Wives’ follows three women: Brooke (a mystery writer and new trophy wife of a tech billionaire), Erin (a wealthy news reporter who’s worried that she’s past her prime), and Georgia (a beautiful, mysterious woman who is dubbed “The Black Widow” by the media after her first two husbands die under mysterious circumstances) and is now engaged to a 3rd man. When Brooke moves to the wealthy, exclusive California neighborhood Presidio Terrace, she strikes up a friendship with both Erin and Georgia. When Brooke becomes curious about her new friends, she finds out much more than she ever expected.
This book absolutely blew me away and I could not put it down. I was wrapped up in the soapy drama, privilege, and mystery of the entire thing. I love books that are like this. There are so many layers to this book and the characters in it. It was like the book version of Desperate Housewives meets Real Housewives. If you enjoy books with domestic drama, female friendships, and multiple perspectives, such as Big Little Lies, this is definitely a good choice to pick up. This book was entertaining from start to finish, that I finished it in one sitting. Although it has a cast of unlikeable characters, it didn’t take away from the fun of the story, as the unlikeable characters worked in this particular book. I enjoyed getting to know these three women. I couldn’t pinpoint who the villain or the good guys because they all fit each role at one point or another. This was wildly entertaining and so much fun! This was an excellent read and I will be recommending this to people who like a fast paced suspense/thriller. There were plenty of twists and turns to keep me reading, and that final twist OMG! I had never heard of this author before but this blurb intrigued me so I took a chance and I am glad that I did. I’ll definitely be on the lookout for her next book! The Sinful Lives of Trophy Wives is one you won't want to miss and will be a great beachy read. Add this to your TBR now.
The Sinful Lives of Trophy Wives is scheduled to be released on July 20, 2021, which is perfect as this is a sublime beach read. The title says it all.. TSLOTW is an over-the-top, darkly humorous, soap opera of a novel.
The location is a wealthy enclave outside San Francisco called Presidio Terrace where they have rules about how high your grass can grow (2 inches) and how long you can leave your garage door open (5 minutes!). Only the wealthiest of the top 1% can afford Presidio Terrace. The narrators are three of the neighborhood's trophy wives. The first one we meet is Brooke. She's young, new to the neighborhood, married to a tech giant, and is working on her second murder mystery. Next is Erin, who is a local news anchor and married to a plastic surgeon. And third is Georgia, known as the Black Widow because her first two marriages ended with her husbands' deaths by mysterious circumstances. As it happens, just as Brooke and her husband are moving into the neighborhood, Georgia is making plans for her impending third marriage. Erin quickly grabs onto Brooke as her new BFF and introduces her to her other BFF Georgia. The drama of the novel starts when on the night of Georgia's pre-wedding gala on her fiance's yacht, her fiance disappears. Drama, twists, and high camp proceed from there.
If you like chick lit and beach reads, you'll love TSLITW. My thanks to NetGalley and Ballantine Books for providing me an eARC in exchange for an honest review.
I received a complimentary copy of The Sinful Lives of Trophy Wives from NetGalley. Opinions expressed in this review are entirely my own.
Fantastic novel! I don’t often say this, but I think the strong characters and sneaky plot-lines would easily lend themselves to an equally great movie. Brooke, the “trophy wife” author; Georgia, the black widow; and Erin the news anchor placed themselves in some very precarious situations, which kept me guessing until the very end. I would love to read more from Kristin Miller!
Thank you for the advanced copy of this book! I will be posting my review on social media, to include Instagram, Amazon, Goodreads, and Storygraph!
We follow the lives of three wives that live on a private street in San Francisco. One of the wives is about to be married to her third husband. Naturally, she is called the Black Widow and you aren't sure through the first half of the book how the first two met their demise. The banter among the wives, and their husbands, is moderately amusing, and the situations are nearly believable although somewhat trite and tiresome. I liked the premise and the characters all had some interesting moments in the narrative. When you learn more details about each wife's backstory the book becomes less interesting and more of a chore to complete. If you like mysteries you might give up on this book before I did but if you are familiar with SF environs the book has its moments.
I want to thank NetGalley and Ballantine Books for giving me the chance to read and review an ARC of The Sinful Lives of Trophy Wives written by Kristin Miller.
“Presidio Terrace is like a vortex, where negative energy and drama cling to the air like fog, swirling round and round our little cul-de-sacs.”
The story is about three very wealthy women. Two are married. The third is engaged to Robert who seems to be the only nice character in the book. Georgia’s first two husbands died in her house. Husband number one fell down the stairs and husband number two was murdered in his office! Seems with the prenups Georgia wouldn’t get much money with a divorce of these abusive men! So—-!
This book proves that money can’t buy happiness!
The Sinful Lives of Trophy Wives is described as a psychological suspense.by the author.
It’s a woman’s book.
I cannot recommend it.
Perfect fun weekend read. Reminded me of real housewives...This kept me on my toes till the end. Great book for when you want something light.
Thanks to the author, Random House Publishing Group - Ballantine, and NetGalley for the ARC. Opinions are mine.
A fast paced, hard to put down, crazy book!
Three women all of whom are very unlikeable but interesting to read about! This story harkens back to the Dynasty or Dallas days or even reads as a kind of soap opera. Very entertaining and I enjoyed the little twist at the end. Highly recommended.
This book was inadvertently hilarious. The storyline was pretty on the nose, and the mystery was pretty obvious, but it was still a guilty-pleasure book that I enjoyed. The pacing was great and everything wrapped up in a nice neat bow. I never would have picked up this book on my own, but I'm glad I received a free advance copy. It was definitely a fun read.
Thank you Netgalley for the opportunity to preview The Sinful Lives of Trophy Lives by Kristin Miller. Thiis is a fun book - if you like the Real Housewives series, this is one for you - part drama, part funny, and part mystery.,
You won't be able to keep track of all the back stories of this modern communiity of women who are totally out there and over the top.
It's a good book and i think one to take to the beach.
3 stars.
Is she a black widow or isn't she?
Finding out was a lot of fun. This had a very "Housewives of..."feel to it, only all of the husbands were gross and all of the wives had secrets.
I loved every single word...
Thank you to the publisher for gifting me a copy. It was my pleasure to write an honest review.
Quick, easy read. As with almost all thrillers you have to suspend disbelief to go along with the story. This one maybe more so than others. A quick, easy popcorn thriller. I felt a little like all of the female characters blended together as superficial not very fleshed out characters. And the male characters were all icky and/or abusive in some way. Has a twist at the end which makes it a bit more exciting and dramatic.
Thank you Netgalley and Random House Publishing Group - Ballantine for the ARC.
