s This was such a fun, perfect “escape read” from a week of snow and being stuck in my house. It was deliciously indulgent and while maybe a bit unrealistic feeling at times, it was enjoyable to pretend nonetheless. Although, if you’re a Housewife watcher then perhaps not far-fetched at all. There were many twists that I didn’t see coming and while some of what these ladies do is quite terrible in theory, you will still find yourself justifying their actions regardless.
This is a perfect beach read...or in my case, a perfect winter-blues escape. Enjoy this one with a glass of wine! And I just love this cover.
I wasn’t sure what to expect from this book, but it was a quick read that kept me guessing until the end. It will be another great summer read. Not deep or life-changing, but a fun read. I kept picturing who would play each role if it was ever turned into a movie. None of the characters are very deep characters, but I think that is the point. Does anyone ever really know who a trophy wife is? Aren't you only supposed to see and know what they want you to see and believe what they show you? Overall a good read that I would recommend, especially if you are into a little murder mystery.
**Thank you to Netgalley and the publishing company for the advance copy of this book.
How did I love thee? Suspense, humor, witt a perfect ending. It’s all here.
The shelves are lined with crime, thriller, mysteries and suspense novels. Rare is it one surprises me or most readers these days. In a setting of an uber elite neighborhood murder, kidnapping, secrets, affairs hitmen will keep you reading. It’s one you don’t want to put down and you’ll ask yourself what the author has in mind for the next book!
Mystery writer Brooke is new to the neighborhood, an exclusive gated community, where the secrets are as abundant as the money. She quickly meets news anchor, Erin and the Black Widow, Georgia. Georgia has had two previous husbands, both deceased now. Now, she is engaged and ready to get married again. Will the groom make it to the wedding alive? Can Brooke figure out what is going on before she winds up dead like one of her characters?
The Sinful Lives of Trophy Wives was such a fun, quick read! It reminded me of Desperate Housewives. I loved all the different POV’s and each character had a distinct personality. There were plenty of twists that shocked me and constantly kept me wondering what was going to happen next. Kristin Miller has written a truly enjoyable book.
I couldn't put this book down! This is just the type of drama I like to read about after a long work day! This story follows three society wives who all have secrets behind closed doors. Proof that everything isn't always what you think it is! There were some unexpected twists and turns that kept me drawn in. Brooke is the main character who moves to a new socially affluent neighborhood and befriends Georgia and Erin who quickly become her new best friends, which means they are sharing secrets! I finished this in just under two days, and it only took that long because I had to work in between, Boo!
I was ecstatic to see the message “your wish has been granted” on NetGalley! I’ve “wished” for many books, but only granted two. I have faith that more will come!
This is one of those wicked, soap-like guilty pleasures and I felt like I enjoyed it a little too much. The dark humor of these women was SO entertaining! I loved everything about this book, except the ending. The cover is gorgeous, and caught my eye the first time I saw it! The banter between the main characters is hilarious. They could be referred to as totally unlikable. But the more I read about them, the harder they were to hate! It was a 5-star read until the end. Don’t get me wrong, the ending isn’t bad, it’s just a little tidy for my taste. But...it’s worth the read!
“I’m not afraid to love a man . . .
I’m not afraid to kill one, either.”
—GRACE DENT, The Nightmare Next Door
“He landed on the bottom, arms and legs broken in awkward angles like a demented starfish.”
A demented starfish...OMG, this line made me laugh out loud! Kristen Miller’s writing is fabulous and original! And the unpredictable twists...WOW! I’ll be reading more of her work.
Georgia has two dead husbands and is about to marry a third. It’s hard to believe any man would marry this woman with all the rumors related to the deaths of her first two husbands! Although she was never charged, she’s earned the nickname “Black Widow”. And her dark humor surrounding the incidents helps feed these rumors! Did she or didn’t she? Georgia is such a well-developed character, with a unique sense of dark humor, she was bewitching! Definitely my favorite character.

I had a great time reading this book! This is a very addictive read, I loved the banter between the wives and being in Erin’s mind. The twist at the end was great!
WICKEDLY GOOD, sinfully delicious, twisted, dark, with a twisted sense of humor.
I was absolutely drawn in from the very first line of this book and stayed up entirely too late just to see what was going to happen. Tons of twists and turns, easily one of the best books I've read and destined to be a wonderful beach read.
This book is mostly centered around three ladies Erin King, news anchor and president of the Homeowners Association (of course). Erin is married to Mason, whom is a plastic surgeon. Erin has NO filter whatsoever and says whatever comes to mind which is probably why i liked her so much! Next we have the new girl to the neighborhood Brook Davies, she writes mysteries and is married to Jack. Jack is ridiculously wealthy and owns a tech company worth BILLIONS, oh lets not forget the age gap here Brook is young and jack is 22 years older, yummy right? Finally we have Georgia, also known as the black widow because her first two husband suffered unfortunate circumstances. Now Georgia is engaged to Robert, they are to be wed fairly soon but Robert literally disappears of the face of his yacht with no trace.
How well do you know your friends and neighbors? All 3 ladies have their own dark secrets which will soon be revealed.
Thanks to Netgalley for this wonderful Arc
This book epitomizes the fact that beyond the bubble of wealth and what is perceived as creating great happiness, the darkness that lies beneath. One can reshape their outwards appearance like Erin and her multitude of plastic surgery; however, her relationship with Mason was marred by emotional and eventual physical abuse. The ending certainly took me surprise as to how Danny became a character and his relationship with Georgia especially given her nickname of Black Widow. I gasped when Brooke picked up the phone. Great read.
This isn’t my typical read, I usually go for the steamy, angsty romances, but this cover and blurb intrigued me. This was a great read, it kept me guessing as well as turning every page and devouring this book. I thoroughly enjoyed it and will look for more titles by this author.
Thank you #Netgalley for the advanced copy!
Fun quick read following a few wives who live on a very private exclusive street in a gated community. Brooke is new the block with her tech billionare husband. Her neighbor is known as the "Black Widow" after two of her spouses died within a year of their relationships. Brooke becomes friends with the black widow and other neighbor Erin. This friendship starts quickly when drama happens and the lives become intertwined and covering up each others secrets. Lots of interesting and fun twists!
Really liked this book. Definitely would recommend this book to friends and family who likes to read. Keep my interest the whole time. Never a dull moment. Thank you
This book was a page turner from beginning to end! This book was packed with so much interesting stuff going on! You'll enjoy this book!
This was a short quick read! The writing was great and the characters...... This kinda felt like the real housewives!
Wow! This was a fun read!
A book full of characters and not one likable. Well, they grow on you actually...
Brooke and her tech CEO husband moved into an elite neighborhood in SF - across the street from local news celeb Erin and next door to the notorious tabloid dubbed “Black Widow”.
Alternating chapters give you insight into the crazy, yet relatable inner workings of each woman. At the 75% I was yelling at a few characters! At 90% I’m yelling at others- who turned out to not be as despicable as I thought. In fact, I started this book hating these three ladies and now plan to spend every birthday wish that there will be sequels! Multiple! I can’t get enough from this author.
Thank you for keeping me busy on Valentine’s weekend - the sinful life of trophy wives was just what the dr ordered. Thank you to #kristinmiller, #netgalley and #ballantinebooks for the complimentary copy for an unbiased review.
This was such a juicy page turner - I stayed up way past my bed time to finish because I had to know what happened!
I'm not going to rewrite the synopsis, but these three ladies - WOW. I kept asking myself do people like this really exist? I definitely kept thinking to myself, keep your friends close but you enemies closer. It was so hard to tell if they were really friends or just pretending to be. There were a couple of big twists that I guessed early on, but that last one was unexpected.
This was a such a fun, quick read - I have not picked up a book in a month and a half because of work and this was a great one to get me back in the mood. Not overly detailed and a lot going on - it would actually make a great tv show or Lifetime movie. Lots of fun and will be a great addition to your beach bag when it comes out this summer.
This book was a page turner from beginning to end. Everyone has secrets - especially in this secluded and highly prestigious town. But when new neighbor who happens to be a newscaster finds out that her neighbor is supposedly a husband killer termed the black widow- she will do anything for a interview... I literally couldn’t put this book down and finished in one reading. Amazing character development and integration. I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.
The Sinful Lives of Trophy Wives is a gripping psychological thriller that will keep you guessing until the end. The novel introduces the reader to Georgia, Erin, and Brooke, residing in San Francisco's upscale Presidio Terrace, three beautiful women with incredible secrets.
Georgia, known as the Black Widow, is about to be married for the third time, suspected of killing the other two. Newlywed and author Brooke learns of Georgia's reputation when her tech CEO husband buys a home for her in this posh neighborhood. She is introduced to Erin, a popular news anchor and Georgia's best friend, when they invite Brooke for coffee and a celebration aboard Georgia’s fiancée Robert's yacht. But Georgia receives a threatening note, and her fiancée disappears just days before the wedding.
A ransom note and Robert's finger with ring still attached become more material for Brooke's new novel. The plot thickens as Brooke encounters the kidnapper threatening Georgia at gunpoint. Erin's boss promises her an interview of a lifetime if she poses incriminating questions to Georgia before and at her wedding.
Brooke describes the perfect Presidio Terrace "like a vortex where negative energy and drama cling to the air like a fog, swirling round and round our little cul-de-sacs." But the drama sucks the reader in, and questions must be answered. Will Robert be found? Will Erin betray her best friend? Whose husband is really cheating on his wife? The novel wraps up these questions in a surprising conclusion.
First, what drew me in was the gorgeous cover and the three distinct characters. Each chapter is filled with so many turns and twists. The novel takes place over six days, which adds to the suspense. If you love fast-paced thrillers, I highly recommend The Sinful Lives of Trophy Wives.
Four enthusiastic stars for this book that kept me up way too late because I couldn't put it down! Full of twists, turn and people behaving badly-- I completely escaped into the setting of Presidio Terrace. The lifestyle, setting and characters felt very reminiscent of Big Little Lies and I was here. for. it. Are people who they really say they are? What secrets are they keeping and how far will they go to keep them?
This book, even the title is so juicy & wicked! It centers around three married ladies living in Presidio Terrace, a gated community in San Francisco for the rich & very rich! Erin King, news anchor and president of the HOA, she’s married to a plastic surgeon, Mason. Erin is the chatty one with no filter, bless her heart! Brooke Davies, a mystery writer in her twenties, she’s married to Jack, who owns a billion dollar tech company that is 22 yrs her senior. And Georgina St. Claire, dubbed the Black Widow by the press because her first two husbands are dead! Georgina is engaged to Robert, but says before their wedding Robert disappears! How well do you know your neighbors? The ladies have secrets and their own agenda, so what are they capable of? There are so many twists & turns to keep you guessing! Highly entertaining & a perfect beachy read! Thank you to NetGalley, Random House Publishing Group - Ballantine Books, and the author for a gifted copy.
The Sinful Lives of Trophy Wives is a TRIP. I felt like I was reading about a reality tv show! Georgia, Brooke, and Erin all have their own complicated stories and I like how the author intermixes them throughout the book to fully develop their characters. The small, quiet, and secure neighborhood Brook moves into is not going to know what hit them! I also like that the husbands and significant others in this book really play a supporting role while the three ladies are front and center of the action. This was a fun, suspenseful read and had several plot twists that shocked me. All I will say about the ending is I did NOT see that one coming. I’m so glad I got to check out this book!
