I love Claudia Oshrys accounts as well as her program podcast The Morninf Toast so I knew I had to pick this one up! It was funny but also heartfelt I really related to how she lost her father as I recently lost my own. It’s a funny spicy look at today’s pop culture world and I really enjoyed it!

Honestly, had no real expectations on this book. I haven't been living under a rock so I of course know the instagram account that launched Claudia Oshry's career, but I knew little else. I thoroughly enjoyed hearing about her life and her unapologetically being herself. I especially enjoyed her experience with and opinion on cancel culture. A fun and short listen!

I didn’t know the name Claudia Oshry before I began listening to this audiobook, and that’s probably a good thing. Oshry is an Instagramer and social media influencer who made her money with her blog and instagram Girl Without a Job. After the first hour of listening, I thought she seemed like a sweet, albeit materialistic, social media influencer. As someone who is plus sized, I was at first very excited to find someone with such confidence and focus. While Oshry and I have very little in common, I figured I’d continue to give the book a chance and listen on. It can be very interesting to see how someone very different lives their life.

Girl Without a Job is fairly vapid and self focused, but does have a few great points. Oshry is very big about how as adults we grow and change, and are allowed to change our minds about things. At 26, she seems pretty confident about knowing her own mind and how to make a buck.
When she brought up the fact that she had been “cancelled,” (quite literally, in that her show with Verizon was cancelled), it piqued my interest and I began to look closer at her history and why she was cancelled. I’m not a fan. No, I’m not perfect and won’t pretend to be, but her internet comments are….not great.

I’ll admit, I didn’t finish listening to Girl Without a Job. I made it about halfway through and decided to listen to something else. For fans of Claudia Oshry, you’ll probably greatly enjoy this book. For those not super keen on social media influencers, skip it.

Thank you NetGalley for the ARC audiobook.

I enjoyed that the book was narrated by Claudia. I have followed her on Instagram for a few years because I like her memes and content, but I just couldn’t get behind this book. I loved the beginning when she talked about her father and how she met Ben and her life growing up, but once she started talking about being cancelled I lost interest.

This was just not the book for me, but I can see where other people will really enjoy it.
