A fine Christmas book but not my favorite. I had a hard time getting into it and then when I finally did, it wasn’t enough to keep me engaged. I finished it and enjoyed it, but didn’t love it. I loved the cheery Christmas magic but the plot moved a bit slow for my tastes. My thanks to the publisher for the advance reader in exchange for my honest review.
#netgalley #everydayindecember #kittywilson #harpercollinsuk #onemorechapter oh y’all. Do you believe in love? Maybe not one that happens suddenly. But. Maybe it happens every day in December 🥰 ugh. This book. It’s one of those just hits ya in the feels where you can live out an adult fairytale and cocoon yourself with the blankies maybe hot cocoa or perhaps wine 😂😂🤷♀️🙈 this was such a cute and easy read. Definitely a good pick for when you’re feeling blue. #christmas #shakespeare #bookstagram #netgalleyreview #readersofinstagram #chicklit #happiness #love
Really captivating holiday story with some deeper with a more emotional plotline. It's an easy read and will keep you wanted to read more!
Always nice to read a Christmas book, and despite it being summer, I curled up on the sofa one boring Saturday and read the day away. I really enjoyed the format of the book and how the month progressed, and the friendship built up. A lovely friendship/relationship with Belle and Rory and some real funny moments, especially with Rory's mum and Belle and the christmas gift delivery. I was reminded of the film Last Christmas with Belle in the Christmas shop. Her cleaning job really made me laugh - I think this would make a lovely, feelgood Christmas film. #netgalley #everydayindecember
This was just what my mind and heart needed right now! Pure and sweet and fun! Adored it!!
Belle and Rory met at Uni and drifted apart afterwards. Rory has come back home to help his mom face her cancer diagnosis and Belle is still struggling to find her perfect path, especially since her parents have spent her whole life telling her she wasn’t good enough. She adores Christmas and when she reconnects with Rory, who is a Scrooge, she vows to spend every day of the month of December while he is back in town trying to get him to love Christmas as much as she does. Of course, in the process, they fall for each other, but there’s lots of baggage to overcome but their friendship is something that both of them value enough to help them get through the tough spots. I love that Belle brought out the fun side in Rory and that Rory helped Belle see that she was exceptional and valuable and gave her so much support with her family and her career.
The supporting characters were also great! I adored Rory’s mom, Alison and his best mate Jamal was epic! I honestly cannot find anything wrong with this book! A slow burn romance with lots of festive fun thrown in? Yes please!
Thanks to One more Chapter and Netgalley for this Arc in exchange for my review.
Such a fun, cute Christmas time read. I loved all the characters in this book (minus Belle's parents) and their relationships. Belle and Rory were so cute together and they brought out the best in each other. I loved all their adventures. Belles relationship with Marsha was adorable and I loved whenever she showed up in the book. And Rory's mom and Luisa...like I said, I loved all the characters!! The setting was lovely and just made me so excited for Christmas time! There was no steam in this friends to lovers romance and it was definitely a slow burn romance but I liked that it made room for other things like family and friends and figuring life out and having fun!
Thank you NetGalley, Kitty Wilson and HarperCollins UK, One More Chapter for the copy of Every Day in December. This is my personal review.
This was just what I needed to read one day when the weather was rainy. I read the first page and before I knew it, I had sat for a few hours, and I was reading the final page!
Christmas stories are a favorite of mine and this one was so good. I connected with Belle and Rory. Reading their story and feeling so many emotions. The author did such an amazing job of getting me to know the characters and care about them as I read.
I enjoyed reading the way the story was written. It was written in a smooth easy way and I look forward to reading more books by this author.
⭐️⭐️⭐️
Everyday in December by Kitty Wilson
Thank you @netgalley and @harpercollinsuk for this Advanced Readers Copy of this cute Christmas read.
This is the story of a slow burn romance between two old college acquaintances- Belle and Rory. Rory lives in Australia and is visiting England for the month of December to help his mom prepare for surgery and possible cancer treatments. Belle is at an absolute low point in her career and life, not able to make her Shakespearean creative dreams come true (side note- I loved the Shakespeare reference and side business featured- Belle is such a nerd!). Belle and Rory reconnect and find the friendship and connection they’ve both been needing.
The author did not shy away from tough topics- cancer, death of loved ones, severe social anxiety, and alcohol abuse, despite this book’s cheery cover. All this within the setting of…. christmas plays, festivals, snow angels, movie nights, cookie making, present buying, etc. 😂🎅🏻
I must say, as much as I enjoyed this story and friendship turned chemistry of Rory and Belle, it was a bit too slow burn. It began to lose my interest for the last third of the book.
Pick this cutie up if you want to dive into a charming Christmas season in England with a little romance thrown in.
Let the Christmas book reading commence!! It’s not even September and I’ve already knocked one out!
Every Day in December released on 8.20.21 so you can already snag it! It’s only 2.99 on Kindle!
This was a quick, cute, and easy read for me. I got lost in the magic of Christmastime (it’s my favorite holiday by far!) and had a smile on my face while reading. I wouldn’t say it’s a super memorable book, but I don’t think that’s really the point of Christmas books anyway. Kind of like watching Hallmark…just enjoy the storyline that we’ve seen over and over again, but still fills us up with happiness.
I would definitely say add this to your Christmas book list to curl up with a hot cup of cocoa in front of the Christmas tree 😍
Thank you so much to @harpercollinsuk @onemorechapter and @netgalley for the ARC in exchange for my honest review 🎄
Another page-turner for me! This book is wonderful and well written. I felt every single emotion, I laughed, I shared some tears, some smiles... The characters are likeable and relatable. I loved reading about Christmas during the summer! Please keep in mind the mention of breast cancer if that is triggering for you. However, the author handled it sensitively in my opinion.
A 5-Star festive read.
If you are like me and spend most of you summer days craving winter, when you can close the curtains and curl up with a festive romance guilt free, then this is the book for you.
I got Last Christmas vibes from reading this story. Belle, a little down on her look, works many part-time jobs, one being in a Christmas shop, whilst working hard to pursue her dream.
I know some readers have found Belle to be immature, many people are but this is a story of growth, in the space of one month, we follow her journey where persistence, luck and a support from someone who was on the periphery of her friendship circle when at university.
Enter Rory. The story starts with the last time Belle, and he were in the same room, the worst day of his life. Being comforted by his parents, in his deepest moment of despair, they didn’t know the other was there and Belle had more pressing things to focus on the inconsolable stranger.
Five years later, Rory rushes back to the UK from Australia, where he has been hiding from life in his work and licking his wounds, to focus on his mother and her recent ill health. Unexpectedly, Belle and Rory meet in her parent’s garden, where she is hiding from her family, and he is there to try and repair her father’s reputation.
In the run up to Christmas Rory and Belle’s friendship is rekindles and blooms, she determined to show him that there is still something to love about the season and he wants to see her succeed, and prove her worth, not only in her family’s eyes, but in her own. With motives like those romance is the only outcome to a hopeless romantic like me.
There will be conflict and drama, but that only serves to enhance to story, and to anyone who thinks that Belle’s character is lacking, all I can say is that everyone is different, we all have different experiences and what you class as immaturity, someone else will see a lifelong struggle with being underestimated and undermined. Sometime when people, especially family, say something with the best of intension, those words cut the deepest and cause people to act the way they do. I find that Ms Wilson has captured this reality perfectly.
Thank you to #OneMoreChapter #Netgalley and @KittyWilson for allowing to read and review this 5-star festive story.
Thanks for the ARC from NetGalley & HarperCollins UK, One More Chapter. This was a cute story that takes place over the course of the month of December between to old acquaintances that slowly fall in love with the holiday spirit. Reading in August with 90 degree heat felt like the wrong time to be getting into a holiday read, so this would probably be more enjoyable in November/December when its cold and snowy and feels more timely. The pacing for me felt a bit slow and in mid-way through felt like the book dragged on. I was only medium on this book.
Firstly I'd like to thank Netgalley, the author and the publisher for the chance of reading this book, what a true privilege it is.
What a truly beautiful story! I LOVE Christmas so this really appealed to me.
It took me a lot longer than I wanted to read this (having many personal but positive personal things take place in my life). I really got back into this book in the last 2 days and read the last 60% over the last 2 days, I got sucked in by the characters, they left me needing to know what next! Will it all work out?
There were times I wished their relationship would move forward faster rather than keep the suspense, but if it had of moved faster I know that the story would have gone down a different route, and wouldn't have held me under its grip. What the author did with her story was marvelous! Her writing style is truly one I enjoy, and I will be looking at more of her books from here on.
Make sure you pick this book up its well worth the read, a proper feel good, warm, loving, caring and heartfelt romance. Perfect for snuggling up under a blanket with a hot drink, and maybe a log fire crackling away.
Belle Wilde’s father is a well-known cookbook author who has spent most of his life ignoring her. Belle’s recent office assistant job has ended because the company has gone bankrupt. The little money she makes doesn’t go far.
Belle’s best friend, Luisa, is the mother of Marsha and Belle adores her. They spend lots of time together which they both love.
Belle has long loved Shakespeare and has written a type of translation of each of his plays and sonnets for every day people to understand the words. She hopes to find a way to introduce Shakespeare to young school children so they can find an early appreciation of his work.
Rory has just returned to the UK from Australia for the month of December as his mother will be undergoing surgery. Some years ago, Rory’s girlfriend, Jessica, died in a car accident and he is still grieving her today.
Rory and Belle had been great friends in school so it is nice for them to catch up. Belle loves December and its center on Christmas but Rory is not that enthused about it. Therefore, Belle is determined to involve Rory in the Christmas activities that she enjoys. Spending time together is opening their eyes to one another. In addition, Rory has the contacts and puts Belle in touch with schools for her to introduce her Shakespeare project to children which she loves.
Rory finds himself relaxing and enjoying himself with Belle for the first time since Jessica died. But then he’s not sure if he can stay happy. How will this end for them?
I found this story to be rather silly at times. Unfortunately, Shakespeare is not my thing so I rolled my eyes a lot. I liked Belle’s relationship with Marsha and her friendship with Luisa. There were many things I liked about Rory but the man should have been getting counseling. His guilt and grief were not his to bear. Belle’s parents are pathetic, but Rory’s parents are awesome. Christmas is a time for memories. For some people, those memories are wonderful, but for others they can be very sad. So if people have a difficult time during the holidays, others need to understand and not push them.

In need of a change of pace from my normal thriller genre and the 100 degree heat of summer, this story of two people who need somebody and find that magic during the Christmas season was perfect. When sunny, positive Belle meets up with depressed by reminders of Christmas past Rory, the scenes are set for these two to find that moving forward is much easier with a friend and friendship can easily become more. Kitty Wilson gives us two very distinct personalities and sets them in the middle of a typical working class background. This cast of characters is easily recongnized as your friends and neighbors and you will find yourself cheering for Belle and Rory as they circle closer to the heart with every day spent together. Written as a 30 day journal of daily interactions, you can mark your calendar for a happy ending.
What an adorable read. I've finished it full of Christmas spirit and swooning from the ending. Belle and Rory are brilliant characters. I love how they brought out the best in one another. They were such complex characters, both a bit damaged from their pasts and reluctant to put themselves out there. Belle's love of Shakespeare made me smile. I can relate to a girl who would rather sit at home reading than go out. I laughed so much at Fat Alan, there's some really witty parts in this book. Such a lovely story to read during the festive season. I can't wait to read more from Kitty Wilson.
For fans of Sophie Kinsella and Jenny Colgan, Every Day in December is a lovely story.
I found the characters really endearing and loved the vibe of the whole story. This is the perfect Christmas read!
Thank you to NetGalley and to the publisher for this ARC in exchange for an honest review.
Ok, I read a lot of Christmas related books, but I have never ever found a Shakespeare theme before ;)
Every Day in December is like an Advent Calendar - every day something new. Nice idea, have to say, especially when we talk about the "feeling" between the two. I like to watch it, take it slow.
But the Xmas Spirit? Oh God, that was so boring... Ok, I got it. The Christmas tree, decorations, traditions, a lot of food, and family meetings that often end in total disaster are something we all knew and there is no revolution in that. But the way how they treat it? Like it's just an obligation? No fun, no joy, no even singing? Oh my. Their Christmas is nothing compared to this in my mind.
I was looking for so much fun, joy, merry, but this was... empty. I was missing some emotions, sparks, happiness. Something was truly making a Christmas, warm the hearts and leave us with a smile after reading. But, unfortunately, not this time.
I really enjoyed this sweet book, I loved the fact that although it cantered around December I didn’t feel like it was too Christmassy, especially reading this in August!!! I got really into this book very quickly and loved all the characters. It made me laugh out loud which is not a bad thing. My thanks to Netgalley and the publishers for giving me the opportunity to read this book in return for an honest review.
Reader, this book had me awake til the early hours, sobbing. Good sobbing, mind you! I loved this book - it's set in Bristol, a place I think of very fondly and made the adventures even more realistic. Fantastically written characters with a brilliant story behind them. Read this!
