For me, The Missing Pieces of Us had a strong beginning. The opening finds Izzie and her teenage daughter leaving the probate office close to Christmas. We discover that her husband, Connor had a massive heart attack when he was in Frankfurt while playing the violin. I was immediately caught up in Izzie’s story. While she is with Claire she sees a bum on the street and there is something familiar about him. It dawns on her that it is a previous boyfriend, Robin. The book moves between past and present and from both Claire’s and Robin’s point of view, For awhile, it was interesting but as the book moves forward, it just did not work for me. At times, it was confusing. I think it could use some good editing. Thank you Harper Collins UK, One More Chapter and NetGalley for an ARC of this book. The opinions in this review are my own.

This book took me a long time to read because I just couldn’t connect with the story or the characters. The focus of the story was on Izzie and Robin who were young lovers but who lost each other after a tragedy. Recently widowed and several years later Izzie and Robin find each other again. The story weaves a tale of love, loss and grief. I didn’t find it a fast paced or a gripping read and felt somewhat disappointed.

Isobel and Robin are young lovers with their whole life ahead of them. Just like that, Robin disappears, leaving Isobel without any answers. Isobel reluctantly moves on, marries, and has a little girl named Claire. Years later, Isobel is a widow and she finds Robin and life as they know it changes forever.
The Missing Pieces of Us by Eva Glyn was beautifully written. I was pulled in from the first page and devoured the entire book. I could have kept reading about these dynamics and characters. Glyn's words flow off the page and keep you glued to the story.
I highly recommend The Missing Pieces of Us by Eva Glyn. I will be telling everyone about this beautiful love story and will be looking forward to Glyn's future work.
Special Thanks to NetGalley, Eva Glyn, and HarperCollins UK, One More Chapter Publishing for the advanced digital copy in exchange for my honest opinion. 4.5 stars

A story of loves and loss and what life was and could have been if things happened differently. Glyn pieces together the tale and timeline in a way that makes sense, but the writing and some of the scenes don’t flow for me. I can tell that she has ideas about what’s happening in such a scene, but it’s not coming across as clearly in the writing. I felt like I was floating on the surface of the story and kept waiting to be dragged into it, which didn’t happen. Just an ok read for me I’m sorry to say.

Thank you so much for the opportunity to read this book. I’ve tried a couple times but it just isn’t grabbing me in the way that I had hoped! With an upcoming vacation, I plan to try again so that I can get a review to you and on goodreads.

This book was sent to me by Netgalley on Kindle for review. It is character driven with some likeable characters. The story is slow at times. Try it though as you might like it.

This book was a bit of a miss for me. I found it difficult to connect to the characters and to the story. It started out intriguing enough but i found it hard to keep picking up since it didn’t hold my interest.

I enjoyed 'The Missing Pieces of Us' immensely. Eva Glyn takes us on an emotional journey with the two main characters, Izzie and Robin. I liked the way the themes of love, grief, loss, and memory are explored from each of their POVs. The story slowly reveals how things that happened twenty years before have impacted on the two characters and made them the people they are today. The character of Claire is also developed well so that she plays a pivotal role in the journey. Central to the story is the fairy tree where people can come to make wishes and leave gifts. For me, that added element of folk-lore and magic makes the novel a little bit different.
Thanks to Net Galley for the ARC.

Wow, just wow. Fans of Amanda Prowse will love this gripping emotional thriller focusing on the lives of two people, Robin and Isobel, who are reunited twenty years after they were torn apart. They are still in love but they have different versions of the past, which will keep the reader turning the page until the very end. It is sensitively written as it deals with the topic of mental health, alcohol dependency, and homelessness. This is a definite to add to the reading list this summer.

I wanted to like this book, and did for the first few chapters. But after that I struggled to connect with the characters. After initially feeling sorry for Izzie, I actively began to dislike her. Robin is a nicer character, maybe too nice to be believable. It's a shame as it started so well.

This was such an interesting book! Izzie is recently widowed when she comes across someone from her past . Slowly, the story of their individual pasts comes to light . I did like the characters but I felt that had some communication problems. However, I liked the different POVs in the story and enjoyed it overall!

In this book we meet Izzie, a woman in her early forties who has been recently widowed and her teenage daughter. A chance encounter with Robin, somebody from her past, leads Izzie & Robin on a journey of discovery. The story is emotional and deals with depression, loss and alcohol issues. Well written and I think worthy of a read.

I could not warm,up, to this book. I plodded on through the chapter, hoping some interest would ignite, but it did not. I didn’t really care for any of the characters, especially Robin. This book was a miss for me.

An emotional rollercoaster. I loved Robin and was rooting for him throughout the book. The fairy tree plays a big part in the story and is almost a character in itself. At one point when I closed my Kindle, I found myself unconsciously kissing the cover because of the loveliness of the section I had just read - I've never done that before! A book about the twists and turns of life and how some life defining moments can have a big impact and alter your life path. The book also reflects how strangers can be unexpectedly supportive just when you need it. Eva Glyn's writing is easy to read and flows beautifully.

Despite there been a lot of typing errors in this Arc I quite enjoyed it.
Two lost souls who have both been affected by grief but in different ways are reunited after twenty something years. In corresponding chapters we read their side of the story.
I found this book easy to follow and I found the characters believable.

Love. This. Book! Oh Robin, sweet sensitive Robin. And Izzie. What a tale of lost love that finds its way back. Love all the characters along the way. I flew through this lovely book and will gladly recommend.

A beautifully written novel of love, grief, depression, loss, addiction, friendship and happiness. I learnt slot from this book about healing and kindness to oneself. I would highly recommend it.

This is a dramatic, second-chance love story with characters who are trying to get over loss, and grief, while giving themselves another chance at life. The author tackles difficult subjects such as mental health problems, homelessness, and alcoholism, but she does it with great sensitivity, leaving the reader with a better understanding of how tragedy and grief can lead someone to make the wrong choices.

Both of the protagonists, Izzie and Robin, have suffered greatly, and have many flaws. You'll find yourself wanting to grab them both and talk some sense to them! But this is ultimately a story of courage and determination, a journey of forgiveness and new beginnings.

This is not an easy read, but it's one that kept me turning the pages, wanting to find out what happens to Izzie and Robin, whether they reach out and ask for the help they so desperately need. It's a love story, but it's so much more, and it's a read I recommend.
