Liam and Laura are spending their honeymoon on a deserted Scottish island. They soon come to suspect it is not deserted after all, and they are in serious danger, cut off from the rest of the world.
I found this took a little time to draw me in, it slowly shaped the story and built the atmosphere and tension. But once it got going I found it impossible to put down.
The island setting was perfect; haunting desolate and sinister.
The different perspectives hint at the true horror to come and built tension beautifully. At times it was so tense, I couldn’t decide whether to stop for a breather or keep reading to see what happened. It really was a fraught but exciting read!
Laura is a well rounded character and battling with grief, it makes you connect with her as she is instantly relatable and likable. She is also very vulnerable and this makes you feel that she really needs protecting.
The twist was fantastic, I really didn’t see this coming, it created a whole new story at the perfect point leaving you reeling and exhilarated to read more!
The pace of the book on reflection is perfect, taking it’s time to build the background and then exploding around 40% of the way in, making it impossible to put down. It’s a real page turner.
A cracking domestic thriller from Sarah Alderson, I’ll be on the lookout for more by this author.
Many thanks to Netgalley, Sarah Alderson and Avon books for the ARC copy.

The Stalker by Sarah Anderson release date 8th July.

Liam and Laura are newly weds, they decide to take their honeymoon on a remote private Scottish island. The trip of a lifetime quickly becomes a nightmare. They aren't alone on the island and they seem to be the target of the Stalker.

Omg I loved this book!! It's my first time reading a Sarah Anderson and I must say that it won't be the last.
I'm not sure if it's because of my general anxiety but this book freaked me out. This is what I love about psychological thrillers like this because it feels like it can happen to anyone!

The story is mainly told from Laura's point of view. She is timid and she's anxious. She clearly is suffering after the death of her mum and she doesn't seem that happy for a newlywed. She's scared, jumpy, anxious and clearly depressed. However she seems to not want to disappoint her husband.

Liam seems like your average man. He's a detective and clearly madly in live with his wife. He sounds a lot of time placating her. Trying to get her to get, look after herself and be ready for sex whenever he wants it.
The pair seem a bit of any odd match but there's no such thing as a perfect couple. .

The writing is outstanding. I love a nook that starts part one, I know I'm in a fir a treat this book didn't let it down.
The descriptive writing is fantastic and I could visualise everywhere they went it's great it's one of those can't put it down page turner I just couldn't stop reading . ..

This is one of those brief reviews because everything I find myself eanting to say is a spoiler so I totally recommend everyonone reads it you won't be disappointed. 5 stars 🌟

Thanks to netgalley, Sarah Anderson and the publishers for the advanced digital copy in exchange for my fair and honest opinions.

The Stalker by Sarah Alderson is a devour in one sitting, keep the lights on type of read and I loved every word of it. I am immediately adding Ms Alderson to my list of must read authors.

Newlyweds Liam and Laura are spending their honeymoon on a remote island off the coast of Scotland. They are looking forward to complete solitude and a week of intimacy with no distractions. But when ominous events begin to transpire, it quickly becomes clear that they are not alone, and someone does not welcome their intrusion.

This is a novel that is rich in atmospheric tension, and I could certainly feel the goosebumps popping as I read late into the night. The suspense unfurls in a most tantalizing way, and I was left with my jaw on the floor. Brilliant.

Many thanks to NetGalley and Avon Books UK for an ARC.

The suspense and tension in this book are almost unbearable! In a good way, of course. I couldn't wait to get to the end of this short book to find out what happened yet wanted to savour the delicious surprises. And there are lots of those.

A remote atmospheric Scottish island is the setting for this thriller and what an evocative choice. The author describes it beautifully from the castle to the weather to the chapel to the rental property rented by newlyweds Liam and Laura. As Laura's mom has died recently the honeymoon to busy touristy Greece has been cancelled and the decision was made to stay in isolation instead. Locals warn there is something fishy afoot. Liam and Laura are dropped off, knowing there is no way back to civilization for a week.

Trepidation niggles but they are together, this is their honeymoon and they have paid for it. The property and views are stunning and there are sites to explore. The fridge and pantry are stocked with marvelous food. Ahhh...bliss and tranquility. How bad can it be?

Footprints which aren't theirs are discovered and the awful realization dawns...they are not alone after all.
This may be a common thriller scenario but not your average book. There are goosebump moments galore and a mad scramble to try to piece things together. I figured out parts but others took me completely by surprise and by the end was reeling.

Please know that there are possible triggers as well as some language.

My sincere thank you to Avon Books UK and NetGalley for the privilege of reading this heart stopping book!

Thank you NetGalley for the opportunity to read and review The Stalker, by Sarah Alderson, prior to the release date!

"Newly-weds Liam and Laura are spending their honeymoon in paradise: just the two of them on a remote island off the coast of Scotland. They soon discover that all is not as it seems, and the island has a tragic past. And they can’t shake the feeling of being watched…"

I was immediately engulfed in this book. The anticipation of knowing something was going to happen had me biting my nails. This is a true nightmare. Every thing I had originally suspected turned out to be wrong! The entire book had a five star feel, the ending fell a bit short although it did tie everything together. I would end up giving it 4 stars but highly recommend it to anyone who loves a good nail biting thriller!

This book had me interested after reading the description! I absolutely loved the setting - a creepy isolated island where Liam and Laura are completely disconnected from the world. Early on you will find yourself suspicious about everyone. Of course, nothing is ever as it seems!

Who is this mysterious person on the island and what do they want? Once the couple realizes they are not alone the action begins!

I will say I was not a fan of Laura. She packs dresses and heels to cook dinner in the cabin?? They delayed their honeymoon because Laura’s mom passed away. Tragic, but I just couldn’t wrap my head around her intense grief.

Then the story takes a turn and it ALL makes sense!

This one is a pretty quick read. The story line may seem common, it will take an interesting turn in the end!

Thank you @netgalley and @avonbooksuk for this advanced copy!

WOW! WOW! WOW!! What a total 5 star read The Stalker was! This was my first novel by Sarah Alderson, and definitely will not be my last. After finishing this, I am heading over to Goodreads and reading every one of her books. First, I have to say that the cover was the first thing that lured me to request this title. Then, the setting of Scotland. Reading this, I felt like I was right on the abandoned island with newlyweds, Liam and Laura. The book lured me in from the first chapter, and I had a hard time putting it down. It was a fast read, even though it was 400 pages. The author makes you think you are in one story for most of the book, then BAM, twists start coming! I did not see them coming at all. I loved the descriptions of Scotland, the old castle, and the atmosphere in the old cottage that Liam and Laura were staying in. I just loved this book and was taken for a wild ride that I was sad to see end I was enjoying it so much. Again, a solid 5 star read! Cannot wait to read more by this author!

This is a proper thriller. Two people trapped on an island with an unknown threat. The tension absolutely ramps up from sightings that could be the imagination and through to a very real danger. It reminded me of a good slasher horror flick.

And, the plotting stays away from the obvious. There are discordant moments throughout the first half of the book, the sense that all is not as it appears. This pays off really well in the ending, making for a well-rounded psychological thriller and a really engrossing read.

A romantic belated honeymoon on a private island in the wilds of Scotland, what could be more suitable for a thriller?

After a slow start, this story really picked up and the ending was very good. No spoilers here, but be warned, all is not as it seems!

A very enjoyable book, which I read in no time as it does keep you entertained. My only gripe is that there is a lot of repetitive prose and what shall we do next scenarios, but don’t let that put you off, the ending is worth it.

Thank you NetGalley.

5 ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️. OH MY GOODNESS....what a ride this book took me on! It’s been awhile since I’ve read a thriller where I was completely blindsided and did not even come close to predicting how it would play out in the end! This book was so good that I finished it in less than 2 days. I could not put it down! There’s so much I want to say but I don’t want to give any indication of what happens! So I’m just going to say WOW WOW WOW! It’s only June but I think this one might make my list of “top 10 favorites of 2021”. It’s THAT good! I love this authors writing style and look forward to reading more of her books! The pub date on this one is July 8, 2021 and I highly recommend picking up a copy especially if you are a fan of psychological thrillers.

I do love a good stalker based book and even better when it has such a claustrophobic setting on a remote Scottish island.

Whilst I did partly guess the twist. It was still an enjoyable read all the same.

What a great book. I was enjoying reading it, with the tension building up, but thinking that it was all a little bit too unlikely. Then came the first twist, and then the second. I don’t suppose that these twists actually made the plot more convincing, but it certainly was infinitely more satisfying! Definitely a good book to restore your sense of natural justice and Karma. Read and enjoy.

Liam and Laura are newlyweds who are finally going on their honeymoon after the sudden death of Laura's mother. They are the only people on a secluded Scottish island...or are they? Mysterious things are happening on the island including fleeting visions of someone watching them. After an etching of the word DEVIL on the window, the couple comes to understand that they are being stalked. They do everything they can to stay alive. They start to wonder if the stalker is someone from Laura's life or someone Liam, a detective, had arrested.

The title of the book automatically caught my eye and the premise was intriguing as stalker thrillers are usually the best. This was a decently told story but it was a bit too long. I felt the storytelling of the time on the island could have been condensed some. I guessed the plot twist right before the author revealed it, but it was not something that I thought initially, which was a nice change. All in all, this was a book I enjoyed reading.

To start with story , I love how Sarah describes the area. It's very dreamy and cosy for a romantic honeymoon when all of a sudden Laura and Liam feels a presence of the no mans island .
It's a slow at first but it has an unexpected twist and turns on the half of the story . It was unreal and couldn't put down my book.
I don't want to put it on detail as I don't wan t to soil more but I love the fact that the author explains more of the 'stalker' on what kind of a person he is . Very detailed! I would love to see this in the movie!

Loved this curly wurly of a book which had me hooked from page one! This was my first time reading a Sarah Alderson novel and it will not be my last, I powered through the novel. The before and after style of chapters allowed you a little more information and kept your interest. However, predictable in parts but this does not interfere with your reading enjoyment.

I give a 4 star rating and recommend this book

I WANT TO THANK NETGALLEY FOR THE OPPORTUNITY OF READING AN ADVANCED COPY OF THIS BOOK FOR AN HONEST REVIEW.

"A remote island in Scotland" I'm IN!

Laura and Liam are on their honeymoon in a secluded island which can only be reached by boat. A perfect romantic getaway for the couple until things begin to happen and they realize they are not alone, nor are they welcome.

This was such an engrossing thriller with perfect pace, suspense and characterization.

It should’ve been heaven but it was hell. The plot twist half way through the book had me stunned. Who is the stalker? The island is a perfect setting for a creepy thriller and I was holding my breath with every page. Welll done!

This is my first novel by Sarah Alderson.

I did enjoy it, but the one qualm I had was that it was a bit of a slow burn – which is not my favourite type of story. It’s just personal preference; otherwise the story was well written. The characters were also well-developed.

One thing about the writing that I particularly appreciated was the fact that the writing was such that it was almost like I was on the Island. I really got a sense of how claustrophobic (and isolated) the setting was.

There was a surprise ending which definitely made up for the slow burn.

I highly recommend this novel, but if you’re headed to Scotland anytime soon, maybe leave it for when you get back!

Thanks to NetGalley, Avon Books UK and Sarah Alderson for the opportunity to review this ARC. This review and all opinions are my own.

This pulled me in from the start. This book was so good and very creepy at times. I loved the fact that this couple were on an island in Scotland with no WiFi and no phone signal. It really added to the tension. I read this book very quickly as I really wanted to find out what happened in the end. The ending didn’t fizzle or disappoint. I shall be on the lookout for more books by this fabulous author. My thanks to Netgalley and the publishers for giving me the opportunity to read this book in return for an honest review.

Fantastic twisty thriller. A real page turner. Set on a mysterious remote island the story weaves between the secrets of the past and the present , the account told by the lead female character. Suspense builds as the character senses the feeling of being watched and a series of unexplained activities. Objects moved, animals spooked by noises outside. Really well executed.
