A scary thriller about a couple called Laura and Liam who go to a remote Scottish island for a honeymoon and what should have been a lovely holiday just the two of them turns into a nightmare. This kept me transfixed as you did not know what would happen next.
A great book with a surprising ending you don't see coming.
Would highly recommend this book.
I don’t know if the author is going to read this review but I LOVED your book. I have only said this a handful of times but my mouth fell open because of the plot twist. Like what? That was amazing. In the beginning I was a bit worried I wasn’t going to enjoy this book, but boy was I wrong. A few pages in I was spooked. Especially when I got to the Stalker POV I felt a chill go down my spine. I am going to reread this in October and really take my time with it because, wow, I would’ve never imagined that I would be shocked by that ending. And you know what I’m glad it ended that way because it somehow made me feel in peace.
I do love the endings where the police become involved and make arrests but sometimes I want more of these ending too. I am going to continue reading this authors work. I very much enjoyed the writing style the different point of views and the details the author added in. So glad I was able to read it.
This type of thriller is not my go-to genre, but after reading this intense, twisted tale, I can see why people can't get enough. The tension mounts with each page as you slowly try to outwit the author and guess what's going on. Without giving away any spoilers, don't even try...as you will be thoroughly surprised and impressed with a masterful ending. In edition to checking all the boxes for this type of book, I absolutely loved the setting which looms on every single page. Bottom line...if you like thrillers, you will not be disappointed and if you are new to the genre, you just might be doing an internet deep dive to find all the thrillers you've been missing out on all these years.

Liam and Laura go to a remote island in Scotland for their honeymoon. It’s supposed to be only the two of them for a week. But soon, they discover that the island is haunted by a tragic past. Add to it, there seems to be another person sharing the island with them.
Who is this person? What do they want, and why are they stalking the couple? When did their perfect honeymoon turn into a deadly nightmare?
The book starts with Laura and Liam going to a local Scottish pub before heading off to the Island of Shura. The weather is gloomy and matches Laura’s mood. We come to know that she’s fighting the depression of losing her mother.
As the story progresses, Laura tells us her story as the couple explores the island’s ruined castle, chapel, burrows, beaches, and more. She feels someone stalking them, and soon enough, the evidence is visible as a craving on the window glass.
The narration is fast-paced though nothing much happens during the first few pages. The setting makes it easy to create an atmosphere of tension and fear. As a fan of Scotland-based stories, I was looking forward to reading this book. The cover added to the vibe, and I had quite a few expectations.
The author does tick a few boxes for a heady thriller. The plot had merit, and her narration was good enough to carry the story. However, towards the end, the plot losses steam. Of course, there needs to be a sort of closure, but it fell a little flat.
There’s a twist in the second half that explains the red flags I noticed in the first half. I can’t go into details because even the tiniest hint would be a spoiler. Suffice to say, I re-adjusted my guesses based on the hints the writer scattered around.
I did find a few inconsistencies, though I’m not sure if they were deliberate or if the author missed them. If it’s the former, readers (thriller fans) would know the storyline before the twist is revealed.
I didn’t relate to the character, but that’s not uncommon. I don’t relate to a lot of them. And this one felt like I was watching a show on the screen. For a thriller, that’s not a bad thing. It just didn’t involve me as much as I would’ve liked.
Overall, the author did a decent job of creating a suspense thriller with the right atmosphere and good narration.
Thank you, NetGalley and Avon Books UK, for the ARC.
P.S: I hope the typo in the book would be corrected before the release.
This book started put great and the premise sounded great but I felt it became a little too unbelievable after a while. Also, I didn't really like either of the characters. Sorry.
The Stalker was a very interesting book. What was supposed to be a very romantic and belated honeymoon for a couple on an island in Scotland turned out to be a very frightening experience when they discovered they were not alone. The end is a total surprise.
Laura and Liam are going on a belated honeymoon to a remote island, Shura, in Scotland. On the journey the locals tell them that the island is haunted and refer to murders from years ago.
Strange things begin to happen as soon as they are left on their own, as the only occupants on the island with no means of contacting anybody apart from a satellite phone which they are told about but do not check when they arrive.
There are twists and turns but I struggled and ended up skip-reading a huge part of this as I found the initial plot slow. I started to guess some aspects and the last few chapters are much better but, as a whole, I couldn’t get into it.
Thanks to NetGalley, Avon Books UK, and Sarah Alderson for my ARC of The Stalker, in return for my honest review.
Not for me.
This was a fun to read mystery. With enough suspense to keep the reader interested. A few twists at the end add to the enjoyment of the book. This is a book which I would recommend to others.
A good well written book that held my interest throughout, the characters were good and believable. For me personally I didn't find it to be a page turner but overall it was a book which I can recommend.
Thank you to Netgalley and Avon Books for giving me the opportunity to read this book.
In short, The Stalker fell flat for me. I was quite excited for a psychological thriller but Sarah Alderson's latest novel did not deliver for me. While there were some excellent twists, they came all at once - in what felt like a brain dump. It is always unfortunate when the story is conceptually strong but it is not well-paced. I also felt like the characters were quite flat.

Absolutely loved this book. Fast moving quick read with tons of twists and turns. Loved it!!!! I will be looking into reading this authors other novels. Highly recommend!
This is a brilliant tense book with an ending that my head spin. The atmosphere just keeps building up to a blinding climax that I did not see coming at all.
Newlyweds Laura and Liam have came to a secluded Scottish Island for the honeymoon. Things quickly get very sinister when they realise that they're not alone and someone is stalking them.
This is such a clever book that I absolutely raced through. The atmosphere is almost painful for the reader as things start to escalate. A dark, tense and thrilling read.
The creepiest book of the year. A must read for all seeking a thriller. You will not be able to figure this one out.r
The Stalker is full of a spooky atmosphere and setting that ends well to the tension.
Liam and Laura have a close relationship threatened by the presence of a stalker. All is not as it seems. As the ending u folded I was certainly surprised.
I liked the plot choice (I can't comment on it as it will be a spoiler) although it felt somewhat rushed with chapters that were set in the past. Explanations came fast and were a little dizzying but plausible.
Overall, an enjoyable read.
4.5 Stars from me
This book is pure distraction and entertainment! Albeit a bit gruesome at times but
It was obvious (from the cover!) that this perfect honeymoon ♡ might not pan out to be quite so idilic!
Even so I was caught out by a fair few surprises along the way and found myself utterly immersed with the pure entertainment provide by this fast paced and well plotted read.
Don't over think it, just go with the flow and enjoy the ride!
Liam and Laura are newlyweds who decide to honeymoon on a secluded island. It's been a tough year for Laura so the alone time will be good for her. But they soon discover the deserted island isn't so deserted, they're being watched. Being on a secluded island could never backfire, could it?
🌟🌟🌟🌟
Holy twist at the end! I did not see this ending coming y'all! It's a gripping read that keeps your attention from beginning to end. I would recommend this read!
Thank you Sarah Alderson, Avon Books UK and Netgalley for this great ARC!
The Stalker is a creepy, fast-paced read about a newlywed couple who spend their honeymoon on a remote island only to discover things aren't quite what they seem. The couple is being watched and this person wants them dead. I was hooked from start to finish. Highly recommended to anyone looking for a claustrophobic thriller.
This book is brilliant! Liam and Laura are spending their honeymoon on an uninhabited small island in Scotland. However, it soon becomes clear that there is someone else on the island who wants to do them harm. So begins a scary game of cat and mouse! I can't say anymore about the plot, but you'll never guess the way it pans out! This is a really well written story which kept me on the edge of my seat to the end! Thanks to NetGalley for a preview copy.

I received this book for free from Netgalley for an honest review.
This book was right up my alley based off the summary. I enjoyed it right from the start. The way it was written was FANTASTIC. It has a plot twist towards the end that I was definitely not expecting. I can normally guess who the antagonist is or what the twist will be; I did not see this one coming.
Both characters are likeable from the beginning. If you really pay attention to the way the characters behave, based off what their careers are, you can start to unravel the mystery that lead to the surprise ending.
This is one of the better Thrillers I have read recently, reminded me a bit of Shiver by Allie Reynolds. There was some wording used that took me a second to understand, but that's because it's written and published in the UK. For example, instead of "lighter" they said "torches".
I really enjoyed this novel, so not only will I be recommending it to others, I'll also be looking for more by the author, Sarah Alderson!
