Thank you to Avon Books UK, Sarah Alderson, and Netgalley for an advance copy in exchange for an honest review.
I could not put this book down! This read-through-the-night-just-one-more-chapter psychological thriller is crazy good. I love the eerie setting on an isolated Scottish island. The increasing sense of dread throughout the book leads up to a incredible ending. I will definitely be reading more of Sarah Alderson's work.
Thank you Netgalley, Avon Books UK and Sarah Alderson for the arc of this book.
Newlyweds Liam and Laura are honeymooning on a remote island off the coast of Scotland. Apparently the island is haunted! But that doesn't deter them, this is the beginning of the rest of their lives together. As the only two people on the island, it's perfect.
That's what they thought, until one morning they see a message etched onto a window. They aren't as alone as they thought. Now it's a matter of survival until the boat arrives to take them back to the mainland.
The start of this book is a bit slow. Then bam! Twist! And the twists just keep coming. You feel the urge to keep reading just to see what the next chapter brings.
I loved the writing, very descriptive and atmospheric. The character's are well thought out.
A very well written thriller with plenty of thrills to keep you up all night reading.
The setting is perfect, I love a good deserted island book.
Highly recommend. Looking forward to this authors next book.
I truly enjoyed this book. It was nice paced and I truly enjoyed the suspense. Loved it!!!! I would recommend it and I know I will read this again.
The story is about a couple who goes to an island for their honeymoon. The honeymoon is supposed to be the best part of their life on an deserted island just the two of them. Their honeymoon is going well until suddenly they are getting stalked, on a remote island. Will their honeymoon be dreamy or bloody?
Thank you to the publisher and Netgalley for getting me approved for this book. I had read this book last year and I really liked the story and the way it was progressing! Page after page I just devoured and wanted to know what would be happening next.
In the spirit of Lucy Foley, a couple with secrets on a deserted, scary island. I was hiding under the covers through half of the book--be prepared to be spooked!
I am a huge Sarah Alderson fan for thrillers, YA and romance - I loved The Weekend Away - but this book, unfortunately, did not engage me. I don't post negative reviews.
The Stalker is a creepy read that's incredibly hard to put down. I liked that the story was told from multiple perspectives and that there was a huge twist that caught me completely by surprise. It's hard to say too much about this book without giving anything away, but I will say that The Stalker wasn't at all what I expected, and the ending was amazing and so satisfying. Thanks to NetGalley and Avon Books for giving me the opportunity to read and review this book...I'm excited to read more of Sarah Alderson's work. : )
I love books that can give me an adrenaline rush and keep me at the edge of my seat - this book did precisely that!
Laura and Liam set out for their honeymoon on a private island in Scotland. The vibes are eerie from the very beginning which was the perfect setup. The island is believed to be haunted and soon their honeymoon turns ghostly. A stalker is there on the island with them! The story picks up pace real good and real fast.
The reader goes on a scary nerve racking roller coaster by the time you reach the end and every second is induced with high intensity.
K didn't download in time which really sucks but a friend got a approved and I read her copy
And man am I a sucker for unreliable characters. I was on the edge of my seat more often than not. However it wasn't super fast or slow. And those I was at the edge of my seat it wasn't as crazy suspenseful as you'd expect but I guess that doesn't make sense but I don't wanna give to much away. I guess my thoughts and expectations played a bigger part in that.
The setting and atmosphere was really.good and definitely kept me hooked the most
But be warned I feel like st times I was confused because not enough information was given and not be some kind of red herring or to have a big surpise or reveal later. It was just not spoken about and fell flat and made me like what???? Just completely not told, not mislead.
Okay the more I think about the more my opinion changes and not for the better
Well this book had me watching over my shoulder and sitting on the edge of my seat!
I had to keep checking as I felt someone was watching me! It was usually my cat though!
Great story, good twists and plot
Thank you to netgalley and the publishers and the author for the opportunity to read this book for my honest opinion
Absolutley amazing book had me hooked from the get go! Gripping and enthralling. A must read thriller!
This book had me hooked from the first page. I love it when an author gives you a false sense of security and then throws you a curve ball. You get a creepy vibe reading this book and that is what the author wanted to achieve and she succeeded.
what an amazing book, it had everything, fear, suspense, hate, and astonishment towards the end, i loved this and want more!
A predictable premise with the honeymooning couple and a stalker haunting them. This was a likable book with an eerie atmosphere in it. Overall enjoyable.
Woah! This one was awesome!! I couldn’t put it down! I loved the gothic setting (alone on a Scottish island), and the creepy unknown of the identity of the stalker. Can’t wait to recommend this one to others!
An unreliable narrator makes for an interesting and unexpected read.
A couple is on their honeymoon. They have a cottage and an entire isolated island to themselves for the week. At least it was supposed to be only the two of them. Both start to see fleeting views of what appears to be a person, dressed all in black but otherwise unrecognizable. Then things start to go missing from the cottage. Items will be rearranged the next morning or when returning from a walk. There is an abandoned property, it's ruins are deep in the woods. The couple concludes this stranger must be taking shelter there after they discover the satellite phone is broken. Why is this stranger harassing them, threatening their safety and who is this stranger? The couple will have to fend for themselves for the rest of the week. As the ferry won't be returning for them until then.
This is the basic plot.
However.....there is much more going on that can't be said without giving away all the books secrets.
Overall an entertaining decent read. It isn't a slow burn, but it also isn't entirely suspenseful either. An intriguing premise that becomes even more intriguing once you finish reading the book.

This was a highly addictive and entertaining thriller to read.
I really enjoyed the pace of this book. It was incredibly quick and easy to read.
I also loved the setting. The remote island was really creepy and claustrophobic.
The atmosphere was absolutely spot on!
At no point was I bored or disinterested while reading this book. I was kept guessing till the very end.
I definitely did not see the ending coming, it was such a major shock. I think the ending was incredibly clever and well put together.
Overall, if you enjoy fast paced, creepy thrillers with amazing twists you've got to check this book out
TW: death, murder, violence, animal death, abusive relationships, gaslighting and mental illness
This one will draw you in from the very beginning, with plenty of twists and turns to keep you hooked.
Liam & Laura are honeymooning on a remote island off the coast of Scotland. What could be more romantic ? A whole island to yourselves !!
But soon they get the distinct feeling that they are not actually alone on the island. Who is with them ? And what do they want ?
This is a great suspense thriller with plenty of twists that I really didn’t see coming. Definitely one to add to the top of your reading pile!!
Thank you to Avon Books UK and NetGalley for a digital copy of this book.
Riveting, spooky and kept me on my toes! I thought I had everything figured out when I first began reading, but the ending totally got me. I'll be thinking about this one for a while.
Creepy, or any really, vacation thrillers are certainly my thing, and this book just solidified that even more. The writing was very well done and complemented the story in a way that made it real enough that I felt I was there instead of just reading about the couple in Scotland--I was the third wheel!
