I always enjoy the lady redeeming the rake! Brina and Zane's story is just that!

Brina makes lemonade from lemons. When Zane, the lemon, enters her life, she is in lust! But, can she turn what she has into a thirst quenching drink!

So much fun to read!

Brina has been widowed for five years and has settled into a life of overseeing a school for girls and volunteering at a local nunnery to help the poor. She's content with how things are until a trip to Paris and an unusual turn of events finds her in a room at a ball with a tied up Zane. After she frees him, they go their separate ways believing they won't see one another again.

Then a wager happens. One Zane starts himself. He bets that Brina will accept an offer of marriage from him by midnight of the final ball of the season. Determined to remain a widow, Brina decides to make the challenge nearly impossible for him to win by placing various restrictions on him until that final ball that she believes he could never keep.

I enjoyed this story. Brina's tale is a sad one, having lost her husband so young, and I could understand why she would be reluctant to open herself up again. That felt very real. Zane turned out to be way more likable than I had imagined. He fell for Brina hard and fast and I loved watching him try to be good enough for her while believing he never truly could be. It was fun to see him work to get Brina to open up a little and have some fun. Grey does a good job of building to that desperation on both sides by the end.

How to Train Your Earl is a good ending to the First Comes Love trilogy. It can be read as a standalone for sure yet it's fun to see the characters reappear from previous books. I would say that any lover of historical romance would enjoy this one.

This is a wonderful, exciting and quite funny story. Set in the historic era with flouncing dresses, balls and handsome rakes.

How to Train Your Earl took a bit for me to get into, but once I did, I found myself enjoying it.

Brina and Zane are both entertaining characters and it was sweet to see them bring balance to the extremes each live in before meeting. Brina's self imposed exile from romantic life and Zane's rakish ways blended well and both became more likeable for the softening of their edges.

A fairly small secondary cast contributes greatly to the story and this left me very curious about the previous books in the series.

I enjoyed this wonderful Regency romance with unforgettable characters and a story that immediately captivated me and kept me entertained and intrigued until I read the last word. I loved the instant attraction and undeniable chemistry between Brina Feld and Lord Blacknight and am sorry to see the First Comes Love series end but I look forward to what Ms. Grey will bring us next. If you enjoy smartly written Regency romance with humorous moments and lots of heart, you will love "How to Train Your Earl". I received an advance reader copy of this book from the publisher via NetGalley and am voluntarily leaving my review.

Wow! I really enjoyed this third story in the series. It stands alone, but so much better if you’ve read the previous books. The characters are so compelling and their interaction are intense and filled with sensual tension. Brina is hiding something and it takes a while for Zane to get the truth from her. A delightful story filled with some humorous points and an underlying mystery.

Refreshing read on the black sheep of the family getting the Earldom after a nasty accident claimed all of the men in line before him. Zane was completely unorthodox when he places a wager that the much loved Widow Feld would marry him by the end of the season.

What did I like? This was a unique idea that was highly enjoyable. The tête-à-tête between Lord Blacknight and Widow Feld was amusing and amorous. Easily a stand alone because I did not read the first two in this series.

Would I recommend or buy? Anyone loving a regency bodice rippers will love this story. It was also unique and amusing. I would definitely read more by this author! Four stars of entertainment!

I received a complimentary copy to read and voluntarily left a review!

As with the other stories in this trilogy, you do not need to have read the others in order to understand and enjoy this one. You are given just enough information from the prior novels so that everything makes sense.

That being said, this one was such a disappointment to me. I LOVED Brina's character in book number 2. I felt that she was a strong woman who knew her own mind and I loved her independence. Of course, I knew because she was getting her own story, she would also be getting her own happily-ever-after. But this story just didn't do her justice.

To begin with, Zane is just a brute. He claims to respect her, yet he pays no attention to any personal boundary she tries to set. He places an outrageous wager on being able to win her hand, seemingly unconcerned about how that would reflect on her and her charitable works. He then corners her in public not once, but twice, until she loses her temper and agrees to his wager IF he can adhere to her strict and (quite frankly) unreasonable list of demands. I understand she did this with the intention that he would fail, but it reflected just as badly on her character as it did on his.

But of course the moment they begin their training/courtship all either of them can think about is how attracted they are to the other, and of course, they end up sharing a passionate kiss in the middle of the park. Because apparently when it comes to him, Brina is willing to throw all caution to the wind (a complete 180 from her character in the previous novels).

Another issue I found with this book was Zane's family. Apparently they not only demanded perfection from him in all things, but the main thing the majority of them were concerned with was their allowances? I mean I know things were done differently back then and the nobility tended to care for their families (especially in cases such as this when someone unexpected becomes the new Earl), but this just came across as them expecting him to pay for everything they could ever want, and of course they dump this on him while he is still trying to navigate his new duties as the Earl.

Sadly, for all of the reasons listed above, I just didn't enjoy this story as much as I had hoped I would. However, I do believe it will appeal to others who enjoy historical romance novels.

DISCLAIMER: I received a complimentary copy of this novel from the publisher. This has not affected my review in any way. All thoughts and opinions expressed in this review are 100% my own.

A quick read, with a very fun premise! A bet placed by the rake Lord Blacknight that he'll win the widow Brina Feld's hand by then end of the season. Brina is happily a widow and feels trapped by this wager she comes up with a rebuttal and drama ensues. Thia book had strong characters and a nice mystery side plot. I look forward to reading more by Amelia Gray,

Thank you to netgalley and the publishers for providing me with an arc for an honest review.

HOW TO TRAIN YOUR EARL is filled with clever dialogue, powerful emotions, strong characters and an amazing hard won romance. This is the last book of the First Comes Love series and Brina Feld stars in this last installment. A stunning lady, Brina is a widow, happy with her life and devoted to helping those less fortunate than her. She attends a masquerade in Paris, against her better judgment, thanks to her persuasive aunt. While fleeing from a grappling drunken man, she locks herself in a room only to find a gorgeous man tied to a chair. At his urgent request to untie him, he spontaneously kisses her and tingles of attraction awakens Brina's heart. Drat! Brina has sworn off men, now this brawny man has woken feelings in her she wants left buried.

Zane, eighth Earl of Blacknight, inherits the title of Earl after a shocking accident kills three members of his family. Zane is an admitted rogue and is now responsible for an earldom. He is best-known for his carousing, drinking, card playing, and bad behavior. His uncles urge him to buckle down and set an example, by taking a wife. What can he do but make a debatable wager at his club that he will win the hand of beautiful, biddable Brina before the season is over. There's no question he is enchanted by her. However, Brina bets that he can't give up his roguish ways. All bets are on! Can Zane win Brina's trust? Will Brina fall in love with the irresistible rogue?

HOW TO TRAIN YOUR EARL is downright delicious! It stars widowed Brina Feld, a devoted do-gooder, and rakish, romeo, Zane, Earl of Blacknight. They have an undeniable sizzling chemistry when they are together. Zane is pushed into responsibility for his family and earldom. He is urged to claim a wife for respectability appearances by his domineering uncles. Wagers are placed on whether Zane can win the hand of Brina before the season is over. This is a phenomenal story with immense drama, anticipation, and a lot of heart. There are subplots galore with many challenging characters. Ms. Grey writes in such a way that she brings every scene to life. I absolutely loved everything about this book! Inventive, entertaining and charming, HOW TO TRAIN YOUR EARL is a sure fire winner!

How To Train Your Earl is the third in the First Comes Love trilogy by Amelia Grey. I really enjoyed this book. The story is fun and engaging. Zane and Brina are very likable. Due to a tragic accident Zane is the new Earl of Blacknight....a title he doesn't want. His family is clamoring for his attention to their solving their problems....but Zane just wants to continue with his rakish ways. Then he comes in contact with the widow Brina Feld. Her husband died in a shipwreck and she has sworn never to marry again. Zane is taken with her beauty and sets out to win her over. The two of them enter into a wager over whether or not Brina will accept his hand in marriage at the end of the season. He must forego gambling, drinking, swearing and women. There is a lot of fun give and take between them, that and a strong chemistry leads to an entertaining romance. Some of the best scenes are between Zane, his uncles and his sister as they try to take over his life in order to make him a better Earl. I happily recommend this book for anyone who enjoys historical romance. The story is fun and fast moving with a little twist near the end. I'm looking forward to reading the first two books!

Loved this, it is the last book in the First Comes Loves series. I haven't read the first two books in the series, But I didn't feel lost as I read.
Brina and Zana meet in an unusual way while in Paris. She ducks into an unlocked room to escape a drunk man chasing her. When she turns around the last thing she expected to find is a man tied up to a chair. He growls for her to free him. But she has questions. When she finally sets him free he grabs her and they share a steamy kiss before he leaves.

When they meet again in London, Zane is now the Earl of Blacknight and he knows the name of the woman he kissed in Paris. Brina Feld is a widow, who spends her time giving back to those in need. When Zane approaches her, she lets him know she has no intention of ever marrying again, so he makes a wager to win her hand by the end of the season.

Thanks so much to St.Martin's Press, NetGalley, and the author for this ARC to review.

A chance encounter at a masked ball in Paris, Zane Browning Blacknight and Brina Feld shared a rescue and a kiss. Each never knowing who the other was. Back in London, a chance spotting by Zane hatches a plan. Only it spectacularly backfires. Oh what a merry chase she leads him on.. His uncles are a hoot. Brina's friends are in protection mode. When the chips are down, Zane would do anything to protect his family. The ending was perfect. A smart, woman claims her man.

What a fun and entertaining read! I loved everything about Brina and Zane's story. Although it's the third book in the First Comes Love series by Amelia Grey, it was my first in the series and I don't feel like I missed out on anything. However, I do want to read the first two books to see if they are as delightful a read as How to Train Your Earl was.

After reading this love story, I feel that the book is written well for the lighter side of Regency drama. The characters I think are sweet and a joy to read. The book has realism to it, this works well with reading the book at a fast pace. On side note, the plot could have a little more excitement to it. Add some intense moments here or there. Perhaps some mystery or suspense.

I loved the beginning of this book and just wish there had been more to it and I wish the book had had more of those type of scenes. Not Brina constantly rescuing Zane, but the fire she showed and I mean beyond the riding/curricle scenes. Yes, at the ball we saw it again and I loved those scenes when she made her demands. Witty banter is the best. To be believable, there has to be some repetition because we're all guilty of thinking things over as we try to navigate life, but there was too much thinking in their heads. Why is a book a certain length causing that repetition? Cut that out and just give us a shorter book.

I loved both of these characters, just like the last book. The author definitely writes vibrant characters, especially the men. Speaking of, Blacknight's uncles drove me nuts and I felt Zane's pain and he was way more patient than I would have been. :) The ending was the best. At least this one didn't have as much repetition as the last one, unfortunately still too much for me. I only subtracted one star for this because overall the book was good and I would definitely recommend it. Thanks, as always, to NetGalley for a review copy in exchange for an honest review.

Brina Feld, 24, has been a widow for the last 5 years. Her husband died trying to save others when the Salty Dove sank. Now, Brina and her friend run a boarding school for the daughters and sisters of the workers who died on the Salty Dove.

When Brina was recently in Paris with a relative, she attends a masked ball at a chateau. Unfortunately, a rake starts chasing her down a hall. She quickly slips into a room only to be met with a man who has been tied up. He asks her to untie him as he needs to hurry and rescue his cousin before the man ruins his life by getting married. He thinks the woman is after his cousin’s money.

The man tied up, Zane Browning, is back in England and learns that he is now the eighth Earl of Blacknight. He received his title when the seventh earl and his two heirs died when their coach crashed in a ravine. Zane is now being pestered by family members to get married and start a family. They are also worried that Zane will be as generous with them as the previous earl had been. Zane was quite taken with Brina that night when she helped untie him. Now, he is determined to marry her even though she has no desire to remarry.

Brina agrees to marry Zane if he agrees to several things until the end of the Season. They are: no gambling; no women; no alcohol. He readily agrees. Oh but, Brina can have alcohol if she wants it. This is where I start to roll my eyes. The trope of a woman making a man dance to her tune for whatever reason, irks me. If the roles were reversed, women would be in an uproar. In this case, Zane is a easy-going, delightful man. If he wasn’t, Brina could keep her single life.

I liked Zane who went out of his way to take care of his mooching relatives. Brina appears to have a good heart but her idea of “training” Zane is insulting to men. I have read so very many of Amelia Grey’s novels and usually love all of them, however, this one just didn’t do it for me.

HOW TO TRAIN YOUR EARL is the third installment in the First Comes Love series and can easily be read as a standalone with little to no confusion.

Brina is the widow of a hero, given the same respect and admiration as a man within society. Brina's charitable efforts and decorum have made her someone all look to as a good example, from the gutter to the cream of the crop. Brina is content in her life, happy to remain unmarried, as to remarry means to lose all of her independence and autonomy.

Zane unexpectedly became an earl, his entire family mourning while also fearful on whether or not Zane can be responsible enough to take good care of the family and its holdings. He's a gambler and a rake, refusing to follow the rules of polite society.

Zane needs a wife, one society respects, because he truly adores his family and wishes to make them proud, hopes to be a good earl and keep their family name respectable. Rake that he is, Zane traps Brina with a bet at White's, and that isn't something that puts him in the best light.

The angst and conflict: Brina may wish for some excitement here or there, but she is not willing to lose all her hard-earned independence, especially to a man she doesn't know, especially when he wants to marry her to satisfy a bet and his family. Then there is Zane, experiencing infatuation at first sight, willing to do anything to win Brina as his wife.

With a delightful balance of humor, romance, and banter, Zane and Brina dance around their attraction. Sweet, a little bit angsty, warm and fuzzy, HOW TO TRAIN YOUR EARL is sure to please Amelia Grey fans.

I was provided a free copy of this book in exchange for an honest and fair review.

I had read the first book in this series and when I saw this one I thought it sounded interesting. And I liked it but I can’t say that I loved it. It was a solid romance novel but there were parts that I didn’t care for personally. I thought Zane’s family was a little overly involved and not always very nice to him, of course he had not proven to be a very reliable fellow through his youth. Also I didn’t love that Brina was so closed-minded even though she had strong feelings for Zane. And I especially didn’t like that she wouldn’t listen to Zane at the climax of the story – I know it was necessary for the plot but it was so frustrating. Zane spends all this time proving to her how devoted he was and how much he cared about her, and she wouldn’t give him the benefit of the doubt and at least listen to what he had to say. It all worked out fine in the end but some parts I found frustrating. So overall I liked the book but I can’t say that I loved it.
