This is a welcome addition to the pastor's shelf, whether one is seeking fresh angles for preaching or a selection for the church study group which will improve biblical literacy beyond the lectionary.
One of the best things about this book is how I learned to be in relation with the Bible. According to Helsel we should read the Bible relationally and that means that we are in relationship with the Bible and we should be placing our family and ourselves in the story.
Genesis concerns faced by families and I see my own or my own family members experience
Seeing and connecting biblical text and my family has made my reading experience so much richer. We like to think we are so different from our ancestors but we read in the Old Testament about stolen birth right, trickery and switching one daughter for the other, murder for hire and murder by the hands of a king so much drama so many flawed people this is us.
Loved this read as well as the reflection question.
In exchange for my thoughtful and honest review NetGalley provided a copy of the book.
