The story takes a fantasy creature that doesn't get mentioned much anymore, at least not this cute iteration that feels like something from a Victorian children's book. The story's a bit syrupy at times, but most of it captures that cute Victorian feel with its bright colors, intricate illustrations and hopeful message.

A cute graphic novel for kids about the magical sprites secretly living among us, and the one little sprite who decides to help out by making a garden bloom again. Lots of beautiful, flowery illustrations. I imagine kids who love fairies and plants will fall in love with this sweet little story.

Ooooooh, my gosh this graphic novel is the definition of PRECIOUS CINNAMON ROLL characters. Just, awww. Super adorable. \o/

You get the sweetest little sprite determined to help a struggling gardener fix up her mum's garden, and soon all the other sprites are joining in on the fun. The artwork is absolutely perfect and you won't be able to read this without a big smile on your face!

If I say that I choose "Sprite and the Gardener" for the amazing cover is that bad?

Whe I finally read it I was entusiastic! The story is about a garden sprite and the gardener she helps. In this world spirits take care of nature bun since time goes by human lost capacity of seeing them (and believe in them?) because they take care of plants by themselves now.

Wisteria is determined to carry out her mission: bring back to life Elena's garden. Other spirits didn't know where Wist spend her days, but she's really happy to helps Elena.

A story about friendship, perseverance, love for nature and plants. Magic is everywhere and we only have to believe in it! Our heart could be blessed by love and magic.

The art style is AMAZING! Colors and "vibes" are so warm and lineart is soft. Every spirits are unique and have their own personality.

I love how Elena committed to make the garden lush like it was in the past.

A grat story! I'd like to read more about these authors.

Fun book and premise. Beautiful artwork. Not much of a story arc. I wasn't invested in the characters. I would only purchase for my library if requested by a patron.

This was absolutely magical and definitely a new favorite!! Everything about this was beautiful, from the artwork itself to the color palette to the story! The artist is one I've been following for awhile now so I remember seeing the inspiration art for this and I'm so excited for this to be its own book!

The Sprite and The Gardener is one of graphic novels with the most beautiful look that I read, I love the colors and the very detailed artline, with a nice message for the reader: that you can't do everything yourself, and with help you will always get a better final result.

I received a free e-ARC from the author/publisher via Netgalley in exchange for an honest review.

The Sprite and the Gardener was a beautiful graphic novel about a sprite named Wisteria who has just moved to a new town. Historically, sprites used to use their magic to take care of nature, helping plants to grow and thrive. But that all changed once humans started gardening, and sprites became redundant.
Wisteria feels the pull to use her magic to bring beauty to a lifeless garden, but keeps it a secret from other sprites, fearing they wouldn’t understand.
The story is so sweet and warm, I couldn’t help but smile.
I also liked the artwork a lot. The colours were bright and vibrant (sometimes I felt a little overwhelmed, but that was a tiny thing.) The sprites were the boldest colours, while human characters were in more subdued tones. Magic was also conveyed by using pastels a lot, which was cool.
I really liked the character designs as well. While the sprites came in various shades (pinks, purples, oranges and greens), they also came in all shapes and sizes. They also had completely different, and very distinct personalities.
On the whole, a delightful read.

Sprite and the Gardener is the charming story of Wisteria and Elena, a sprite and a would-be gardener. Elena hopes to restore her mother’s garden, where she is observed by the curious sprite. Wisteria is a small sprite with gardening magic, but her talent has long been dormant. As she starts to learn about gardening with Elena, she will have to choose whether to let her sprite friends know about the garden.

The story has a nice message about trying new things and working together. The art is very bright and colorful, with lots of beautiful plants. Sprite and the Gardener is a gentle and welcoming tale about friendship. This is another great story from Oni Press and I would highly recommend it! Sprite and the Gardener releases May 4, 2021. Thank you so much to Joe Whitt, Rii Abrego, Oni Press, and Netgalley for a free ARC in exchange for an honest review.

For publisher: My review will be posted on the publication date and I will publish it on Instagram, Goodreads, Amazon, and Barnes & Noble etc.

Thank you to NetGalley for sending me an eARC to review. This graphic novel is a cute, lighthearted story about a gardener and small magical beings called sprites. Sprites help plants grow and flourish beautifully! The art was stunning and pleasing to the eye. Even though it is quite short it has loveable characters! I’ve given it 4.5 stars because although it was lovely, I do wish it was longer.

This was a very sweet tale about friendship and rekindling lost traditions. I thought the art style was very pretty and I adored how the sprites all had the appearance of the flowers they were named after!

Reading this was an absolute JOY! It had me enchanted from page one ! It's a quick read with a wonderful message about friendship. Readers of all ages will absolutely adore this graphic novel!

A wonderful sprite starts helping a human girl to grow her garden, which is in hopes to please his sick mother, who is too ill to tend to a garden anymore.

Such incredible, fantastical, unique, BEAUTIFUL little story & absolutely gorgeous, whimsical art! I absolutely cannot wait to read more works by this author.

Thank you to Oni Press via NetGalley for providing me with the ARC! This in no way affects my rating or review.

Anyone who adored the magic, whimsy, and heartfelt tone of "The Tea Dragon Society" will love this! It has the same sweet, wholesome feel in its storytelling and art, accompanied by a lovely over-aching message. The art is beyond stunning, and I can't wait to own it physically to revisit the beautiful landscapes.

Ugh, uh. What am I supposed to say? This was some almost 90 pages of beautiful, cheerful art, but there's not much story there. Or rather, it's so simple, you don't feel much while reading it.

Maybe kids would appreciate it more, but I've read way better - more engaging - stories, even for the young audience. Shame, as the art was truly stunning, but this is simply forgettable.

Sprite and the Gardener is a heartwarming, adorable story. It's set in a world where sprites used to take care of gardening, but now that humans moved in and maintain their own yards, sprites have become obsolete. However, Wisteria, a sprite new to town, discovers a love for gardening after asking questions about the way things used to be and questioning how they are now.

The soft coloring and unique, whimsical art style were perfect for the tone of this book. The sprites (and humans!) were diverse and very expressive, even when they were drawn small! I love a gentle nature fantasy, and this delivered on every level. I was expecting this to be a story where humans moved in and ruined everything, but I was surprised to see that only the sprites were affected, not nature in general. Of course, I don't hate themes of humans damaging the earth and needing to change, since that's the reality we live in and it does need to change, but it was refreshing to see humans portrayed as creators and caretakers! The ending was heartwarming and sweet, and I can't wait to see more from both the artist and the author.

Did I presume that a book titled "Sprite and the Gardener" would be a romance? Just a Bit... Was it? No?

I had so many different feelings while reading this, about possible underlying messages and wondering about flower types. But to cover all the things would be too much.

This book felt like it encapsulated the feelings I'd get while I was sitting on the rug while the teacher read books to us. It was so much like consuming a book when I was small; I found myself giggling and grinning from ear to ear. I don't think any book has touched those feelings in a long time. Suppose you need a bit of hope in your life, a look back to simpler times. This is it!

The art is gorgeous; the characters are so diverse. I don't think I had really seen a plus-sized Sprite/Fairy until I read this book. Growing up watching shows like Winx Club and Tinker Bell, I was overjoyed to see Sprites that everyone could identify with. Also, they are all charming.

On a slightly separate note: This book, at its core, is not letting an old form of art disappear, it made me think so much of the exchange of arts that I see on TikTok. Helping to spread the knowledge to help ensure that it doesn't disappear.
