Holy Hades this book was fantastic!
From the very first chapter, I was hooked. Genuinely, it grabbed my attention in a snap and I couldn't put it down! The modern interpretation of Hades and Persephone was written so seamlessly into this century that it just worked. The author portrayed their mythical god and goddess characters while making them human and it was so much fun to read! I really was hooked the entire time. I need a second and third book ASAP. I'm feeling the withdrawal kicking in already!
Most people already know these two characters, but not everyone is aware of their story, so whenever I think of Hades and Persephone, this is where my mind will go to. I personally know the minimum there is to know about the Gods but listening to Let's Talk About Myths Baby podcast helped me in that department, so thank you Liv!
I can't recommend this book enough. If you're looking for love, passion, sexiness beyond words and the best and most interesting characters, you'll love this book.
I think I have to go in for a re-read soon!
Thank you to NetGalley and SOURCEBOOKS Casablance for the earc in return for an honest review.

Thank you Sourcebooks for this gifted copy. All opinions are my own.
This is my first Katee Robert book and I was intrigued by the Greek Mythology retelling aspect of it. I love Greek Mythology and maybe I'm rusty but this felt more like a BDSM romance with Greek mythology character names. I was expecting more plot and character/relationship development but it was just a lot of sex. I love steam but need a little more plot-wise for it to be a 5 star read. Overall, a quick paced very open door romance. It was fine.

I'm a sucker for Hades and Persephone retellings and my friend clued me into this title. From the synopsis, I gathered there would be steamy scenes, but this was a lot more than I was expecting. The lore was great and the story was very interesting. It was a fresh take on the typical Greek myths. The writing, however, seemed a bit loose and stunted, and I was not expecting an almost Fifty Shades type deal going on there. Granted, there was always consent and it wasn't terrible like Fifty Shades was, but still. It came as a shock to me, and I know that is on me. I'm sure that I will recommend it to my friends who are into the more erotic romances, but all-in-all it just wasn't much my style. I still enjoyed it mostly.

Where can I start? As someone who has read a lot of Persephone x Hades retellings throughout the years, I can tell that this one is by far on of my favorites! In “Neon Gods” we found a great plot, pace and characters. For once, our characters aren't gods but roles that relate to what their deity represent. I didn't felt like the story's pace fell at any moment, the author ensured that the tension kept building and DON'T EVEN GET ME STARTED ON THE SPICY ELEMENTS OF THIS STORY. Phew. If you're someone who enjoys sexy stories with a lot of plot, action and character development this one's for you for sure.

Five star read, drop what you are reading and start this book.
I honestly have to say that Katee Roberts has been a hit or miss for me with some of her books, but I knew I had to read this one since it was Greek mythology. I read this in two days, I just couldn't put it down. The steam factor is a 5/5, for me. It's BDSM, but done with taste, a touch of reality, and so much caring for each character within the scenes.
I think that my favorite part of the whole book was how much world building and character building went into it. The dual narration of Hades and Persephone sold the story, and honestly had me falling more and more in love with Hades. I want a Hades, his character is like my grumpy man dream. I really hope that Ms. Roberts continues writing more stories in this universe, because she as build an amazing and unique world.
If you are looking for a hot steam book that has fully flushed out characters who you fall in love this, then read this book.

Content Warnings: Forced marriage, murder, assault, poison, fire/burning, death, BDSM.
I am head over heels for this book. It was everything I needed and is officially my favorite book of the year so far. Neon Gods has all of Katee Robert’s usual steaminess, with incredible characters, and fascinating world-building.
Things I Liked:
♥ The character development in this book? OUTSTANDING! Both Hades and Persephone were SO well fleshed out and their character arcs were really beautiful. Beyond that, though, the side characters were a delight. Hermes and Dionysus were so fun, and I was super intrigued by Persephone’s sisters!
♥ The whole concept of this world and the power system were fascinating. I expected this to be set in ancient times, and for Hades, Zeus etc. to be the actual gods, but they’re figureheads representing them instead in a modern city. It worked really well and the actual world-building was great. There was a very clear divide between the upper city and lower city, and Katee did a wonderful job of describing them.
♥ The romance was absolutely beautiful. Watching Hades and Persephone learn to trust each other, and feel safe around each other, felt really natural and not rushed. The sex scenes were on point—as expected since this IS Katee, but I was also really impressed by the super healthy depiction of a dom/sub relationship. There’s a quote at one point that says, "He might dominate. I might submit. But the power balance is startlingly equal,” and I LOVED that.
Things I Disliked:
♡ Literally nothing. There’s not a single element of this book I disliked. I mean, I would have liked a thousand more pages about these characters, but I suppose I can be patient and wait for the sequels!
Overall thoughts:
My overall thoughts are just… wow? I don’t quite remember the last time a book had me grinning ear to ear as much as Neon Gods did. This was a beautiful story of two people coming together and finding peace, and also having so much kinky sex. What more could you possibly need?

Loved this sexy twist on a very old story. This is my first book by this author and I will be investigating for more. Hades was, ironically, a likable and even lovable character. Persephone had a spirit I admired. The descriptions were such I could see it as I read it and look forward to more along these lines!

I loved this book so much! I have always loved Greek mythology, so when I heard this book was a retelling of Hades and Persephone I knew I had to read this! One thing is that if you are not into extremely steamy scenes then this is not the book for you!!
What I liked:
- dual narration because I always like to know what each character thinks
- the interaction with the other Gods
- the storyline of Hades and Persephone getting to know each other, especially seeing them at the shops and meeting the residents of the lower city
- all the steamy scenes, especially the epilogue! I was worried we wouldn't get a conclusion regarding that aspect of their relationship!
What I didn't like:
- nothing because I loved everything about this book!
Thank you to Sourcebooks and Netgalley for my early copy in exchange for a honest review! I cannot wait for the next book!

Fun reimaging of the myth of Hades and Persephone with a very light BDSM flair. Looking forward to the next book in the series.

My first Katee Roberts book and it won't be my last. I really enjoyed this modern retelling of the Hades/Persephone story. Especially the modern Olympus that Robert created. Lots of steamy scenes with light D/s to get the blood boiling. I would love to read her take on some of the other Olympian stories.

I throughly enjoyed immersing myself in modern world of Greek mythology in Neon Gods. Persephone found herself lost and alone after fleeing a publicly announced engagement to Zeus. Only desperation made her cross the River Styx but the freedom she finds gives her the courage to reevaluate everything she knows. A spicy hot romance and fantastic world-building makes me impatient for the next visit to Olympus.

Oh my... Tempting, sexy as hell, addictive, stimulating! This book is pure sin! Most delicious, irresistible, incendiary sin you full heartedly and voluntarily like to commit!
Hades and Persephone can put the entire Olympus on fire with their pant melting, hyperventilating chemistry! In the bed they can start the earthquake which may rock the entire universes !
I’m telling you my dears, if Katee Robert plans to rewrite entire Greek mythology, please let her do! With her amazing touch, everything about the myths turn into something desirable, magical and soooo freaking intense!
Hades she recreated is pure definition of walking talking breathing charisma! And guess what? He can be also compassionate, caring, devoted! I am hundred percent sure: this version of Hades will steal entire romance readers’ hearts!
And Persephone is bold, smart, cunning siren who slowly destroys the walls surrounded Hades’ heart and sees his true self, making him fall for her hard! She’s brilliant seducer! And she also enjoys voyeurism like her dark king! Yes, they like having sex at public places! Those naught MCs never stop surprising you, don’t they?
Story starts with unexpected engagement party of Persephone who finds out her mother forces her to marry with reincarnation of Bluebeard a. k.a. Zeus. Of course she cannot say no to a vicious and one of the most dangerous man of Olympus!
After putting a plastered smile on her face, she runs back to her room, making a quick plan to escape because she has no intention to marry with a dangerous man to be pawn of her mother’s power games. She runs away, followed by Zeus’ guards, passing the forbidden side of the river which leads her to underworld with help of mysterious man. But as soon as she finds out that man is Hades! As everybody thinks he’s a myth at the upper city, it seems like he’s so alive, governing the underworld more peacefully and fairly than Zeus does in upper city!
Persephone has no intention to go back to the upper city! So she forms an offer to Hades they can both get benefitted. For 3 months Persephone will belong to Hades, sharing his bed to guarantee to be ruined by him so Zeus won’t demand her presence when his favorite toy turned into damaged goods! For proving their point the couple has to make tons of sex !
Sexy, charismatic, magnetic underworld Lord accepts the offer which also help him to avenge the man who took his parents’ lives. ( he reminds us of secluded dark knight Bruce Wayne, isn’t he? )
So as you may guess, this book presents us a creative retelling of Greek mythology where the gods like to eat gyro platters and goddesses like shopping, running away from paparazzis’ gossip columns!
This is entertaining , seductive , wild ride you shouldn’t miss earned my 5 unputdownable, enchanting, blasting chemistry stars!
I need another book ASAP! I need more journey at Greek Islands!

CW: grief, on page violence and assault
I have been amped for this book since it was announced and it did not disappoint. I went in blind and I would recommend it. (SPOILERS)
-m/f frenemies to lovers
-fake relationship
-this is just a hookup
-grump/sunshine
-throne sex
-some revenge
This was my first Hades/Persephone retelling and it won't be my last. Katee Robert has been my favorite discovery the past few months and this book was still such a surprise. I loved all of the little mythology easter eggs, but you don't need to be familiar with Greek mythology to follow this one.
Persephone was so fiercely independent, needing a plan, though life seemed to work out better for her when she didn't have one. I loved how she went after what she wanted, asking Hades for what she needed including his help in her escape and then their fake relationship.
Hades, dear lord, what a secret softie. Angry and in charge to everyone else, but with Persephone he treated her like a queen, carrying her around everywhere, not because she couldn't walk, but because he never wanted her to suffer. Needed to care for her when no one else would. These were two people who saw the other so clearly and moved around each other so softly, giving the other what they needed. Ready to get on his knees, I am here for a cinnamon roll Hades.
Was this steamy, and the sex scenes so good. This is Katee Robert duh. But were they wrapped up in a sweet romance mashed in with some revenge, heck yes. I loved this one and cannot wait to read the rest of this series. Also please read because I need someone to discuss my theories with.

One of my most anticipated romance titles and it DID NOT disappoint. Fans of Lore Olympus and all things Hades/Persephone are going to fight over this title, with smoldering gods, rich worldbuilding, and some too hot to handle scenes.

This is my favorite romance of the year! Persephone flees the deathly embrace of Zeus and the torture she would have to endure as his wife, Hera. and runs away, straight into the arms of a man all have presumed dead, Hades. In this excellent modern retelling of the Hades/Persephone myth, Katee Roberts does something, few others have done, makes the gods of Olympus relatable and yet mysterious. Her masterful writing style and ability to spin a plot makes the mystery and love scenes all that much better.
