I was gifted a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.
Paislee Shaw is back just trying to be a good mom and run her business Cashmere Crush. Of course things don't always go easy for Paislee as she witnesses a murder while chaperoning her sons field trip to the Leery Estate gardens.
There were so many suspects in this book, and it definitely keeps you guessing. I was pretty sure I had it figured out, but boy was I completely blind sided! That's what I love about Traci Hall's books. She keeps you on your toes. I can not express enough how wonderful of a writer she is! I love Paislee's character, and if she wasn't running her own business she would make a great detective. She has a way of flawlessly getting people to open up and talk to her. She loves her son, Brody, and raises him as a hardworking single mother. I can't wait to see what Traci Hall has in store for Paislee next!
Cashmere Crush knitting shop is a place I want to relax at. Paislee Shaw is a delightful main character. The story is the landlord which is where all the merchants including Paislee rent from, wants to close it down. Paislee goes on a mission to talk him out of evicting. Things goes from bad to worse when a man dies in front of her on his property.
This was a fun read.

I received this ARC via Netgalley and Kensington Books, in return for an honest review. While the second book in this series, it is easily read as a standalone. Welcome to the lovely Scottish town of Nairn and Cashmere Crush knitting shop. While the shop contents are owned by Paislee Shaw, she and the other merchants all rent their shops from the local landowner, Shawn Marcus and the family Leery Estate. When Shawn serves notice to all the shop owners that they’re being evicted, Paislee uses her chaperonage of her young son’s school trip to visit the estate gardens as a way to talk with Shawn and convince him to cancel the evictions. It doesn’t go quite as planned as a man dies in front of Paislee while she’s escorting a young girl to the local restrooms. When the man has a relationship to the Marcus family, was Shawn the real target or is something rotten in the family? If Paislee wants to keep her business right where it is, she needs to solve the case!
This is a fun story with clear, well-written characters. Paislee has an interesting family of her son, her unusual grandfather and her Scottish terrier. She’s a no-nonsense woman, intent on protecting her interests and finding a way to convince the family that keeping the merchants in town are in their interests. She’s compassionate, even when it gets her in trouble with the local school principal, who might have been a possible love interest.
Well written, fun read with wonderful characters and a charming Scottish setting. Looking forward to seeing how this series develops.
"Murder in a Scottish Garden” is the 2nd instalment in the Scottish Shire Mystery series by Traci Hall. What a great sequel to book one! I loved finding out more about the Leery estate and especially the life Lady Shannon has lead . Also that Paisley, her son Brody and grandpa were still together. Lydia always has Paislee’s back and who wouldn’t want a BFF like that. I find the characters to be wonderful, full of Scottish pride and small village life.
The mystery is interesting, well plotted, full of lots of twists and kept me guessing on whodunnit right to the reveal.
I highly recommend this book to all my cozy lover friends.
I requested and received an Advanced Readers Copy from Kensington Publishing and NetGalley. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
Paislee Shaw is chaperoning her son’s field trip and it just so happens to be to the estate of her landlord, who is trying to evict all of the business owners from their shops. Hoping to get a chance to speak with the man who has been avoiding her, Paislee instead comes face to face with his cousin who looks just like him…and has fallen dead in front of her.
It seems Paislee is meant to cross paths with the Leery family as she is asked to attend an awards dinner with her BFF at the estate a few days later. While there Paislee crosses paths with her landlord and becomes even more involved in the family murder. But will she solve it or become collateral damage that needs to be silenced to save the family suffering further
The second entry in this series is even better than the first. It’s a great way to travel to Scotland during the Pandemic and I love Wallace, as I have two of my own little Scotties. I’m off to make a cuppa and enjoy some time with my fur babies now that I have finished my latest visit to Nairn.
This is the second book in a fun series by Traci Hall.
Paisley Shaw is a single mom running her own yarn shop. Her Grandpa lives with them too, and the three of them make a cute family.
While accompanying her son Brody on a field trip, Paisley and a young student run into some problems when an odd noise rings out.
Before long, Paisley finds herself wrapped up in another murder investigation, fighting to keep her business going, and trying to figure out why she’s being dismissed as a chaperone at her son’s school.
This book is a fun read for anyone who enjoys a solid mystery.

I really liked Murder in a Scottish Garden by Traci Hall and have already gotten the book before this, since I liked this one so much. Thank you NetGalley for the advanced reader copy in exchange for an honest review. Paislee Shaw owns a knitting shop, Cashmere Crush. Paislee and her son Brody are on a field trip with school kids. Paislee is on a school bus with the headmaster and other teachers and chaperones headed to the Leery Estate. They will be touring the gardens. They come across a man who looks injured or dead. The school bus takes the kids back tot he school. Paislee has to stay behind and talk to the Detective about the shooting. Paislee and her knitting friends gather to knit , eat and gossip. What an adventure. I would've loved to join a knit and sip group. Paislee is such a caring and brave woman. Thank you Traci Hall for such a great story.
Murder in a Scottish Garden by Traci Hall is an excellent cozy mystery that is the second in a series titled: Scottish Shire Mystery. I loved it!
I really enjoyed the first book, Murder in a Scottish Shire, so I knew I had to read this one. It was so great visiting Paislee Shaw, her family, and the quirky cast of residents within the lovely village of Nairn, Scotland. The author does an amazing job of placing the reader directly into the scene to where I felt as if I was actually walking within the cluster of homes, the fabulous estate, and immersing myself in history and local customs. I like anything that takes place in Scotland, so of course I enjoyed this book.
I like Paislee and the fact that she is a realistic character. She balances being a single mom, a woman, a small business owner, taking care of her family (her grandfather and her son) and adorable Scottish terrier, Wallace. The balancing is hard, but she does it well, and is better all the more because of it all.
I enjoyed the murder/mystery that she became involved in, and I thought there were plenty of twists and suspense associated with it.
I really enjoy this series and look forward to seeing where this will go with future books.
The quintessential cozy mystery, and I loved every moment of it.
5/5 stars

Paislee life as a single mom and business woman is about to change quickly. She uses her penchant for knitting sweaters as she ends up selling them in her specialist store to support herself, son, single mom, gramps and a black Scottish terrier.
Soon she is served with an eviction notice from her landlord as he soon then disappears as she tries to talk to him. The landlord is heir to an estate which her son is supposed to go on a field trip, so Paislee volunteers to chaperone hoping the landlord is a the estate.
Instead there is a killing there not of the landlord but another family member. Paisless will have a vested interest to find the killer even though Di is on the scene. Can she catch the killer before they strike again as suspects keep piling up?
A charming Scottish cozy read.
