In THE ALMOST WIFE Kira appears to be finally living the life she has always wanted. A new mother to baby Evie, Kira is engaged to a the rich, handsome and successful Aaron. Aaron’s daughter Olive from a previous relationship has come to live with Kira and Aaron. Madison who is Aaron’s ex-wife and Olive’s stepmother is creating problems. Her access to Olive has been denied but she relentlessly tries to make contact.
While Aaron is off on a business trip Kira takes Olive and Evie to her old family home on Manitoulin Island in an effort to keep everyone safe. A desperate Madison learns about the plan and follows them.
Secrets play a big component in THE ALMOST WIFE. Kira had a troubled childhood with an overprotective mother. As the secrets are revealed the truth starts to emerge.
THE ALMOST WIFE is a good thriller. I enjoyed the Manitoulin Island setting.
Thank you to Harper Collins Canada and NetGalley for allowing me access to an advanced e-edition of THE ALMOST WIFE.

WOW! This was an unputdownable thriller! Many flawed characters who come together in the most propulsive way, making the reader want to strangle them in frustration but also wanting to give them all a hug. Brava Gail Anderson-Dargatz. You've hit it out of the ballpark with this one.

This wasn't my cup of tea. I felt like the story was pretty simple and that the characters we're a bit... stupid? It really frustrated me. I was intrigued and wanted to know what happened next, but I was just frustrated at every single character. I still do wanna thank the publisher and netgalley for sending me an arc in exchange of my honest review!

I've not read anything from Gail Anderson-Dargatz before, and was intrigued by the premise of this thriller. Right from the beginning, clues were given to the final outcome which I wasn't a huge fan of as it made the story more predictable than I'd like. I also found that the pace was a little too quick from the build up to the action in the second half.

However, I liked the writing style and quick chapters so would definitely recommend if you're looking for a quick, easy read.

Thank you to Netgalley and HarperCollins Canada for a copy of the ARC in return for my honest review.
