Was not able to get into the story. Just fell flat for me in terms of the characters and the overall story wasn’t for me.
This is a cute romance to curl up with on a cold day and just get lost in. It perfect for the colder time of year. The characters are like able and the plot easy to follow.
THIS WAS SO CUTE DRAKE IS AN ABSOLUTE ANGEL. Kate was an absolute chaos monster and the way she worked with Drake had me smiling from ear to ear the entire time this was so gosh darn cute.
I cannot wait to read more from Newton she’s so funny and this book was so kooky and wild and I’m sure cringy for some people but I had a great time and the narrators were adorable and I had fun.
Plot wise, it was a little boring. The rush of the book launch didn’t add the pressure I was expecting it to, instead made the story filled with long passages of decoration description.
How Sweet It Is by Dylan Newton is a perfect fit for readers who adore romantic comedies, small-town charm, and forced proximity romances, and are looking for a lighthearted, emotional, and reflective story that will leave them smiling and rooting for the lovable and quirky characters.
I thought this book was cute and I loved that it fit into a fall theme as I wish more romances would!
Sometimes you just need a sweet, cute romance. This was light and fluffy, perfect for the palate cleanser read I was looking for. Enemies to lovers isn't typically a trope I go for, but I loved the added layer tied to the publishing/book industry. A writer, an editor - what could go wrong? So fun, just what I hoped it would be based on the adorable cover!
A huge thank you to the author and publisher for providing an e-ARC via Netgalley. This does not affect my opinion regarding the book.
Drake is the go-to horror author at the moment. Kate is the queen of events. Kate is hired to throw Drake a book launch. Kate hopes it's an award worthy event. Drake secretly wants to change lanes and write a historical fiction romance next. I really liked the start of the book. The feelings didn't keep climbing after that. It just leveled off. I do like Drake's family so maybe the continuing books will be better.
I really enjoyed this sweet, funny romance and the unique storyline. Their careers were so different and the blending led to some hilarious results. There is plenty of witty banter and hot chemistry sprinkled throughout and it was a delightful way to escape for a few hours. You're not going to want to put this book down!
It’s official, I want my job to be planning book launches for authors (especially super cute authors with glasses who write secret romance novels). This was a really sweet romance with lots of lol’s and surprise steam mixed in, which I loved!
Sickly sweet and fun, this was a bingeworthy read full of cute moments and banter. While the emotional depth is lacking a bit, this is a romcom you can easily read in one sitting that gives you all the warm fuzzies
This is a book I will likely come back to at a later date as it was currently not for me at the time I decided to read it.
Thank you so much @readforeverpub for sending me a free e-galley via Netgalley for an honest review!
Good morning everyone! I've got a great book to talk about today. Last night I binge read the last 60% of How Sweet It Is, I don't do that often lately but this book was just so addicting!
I really, really loved the event planning part of this. It's so fascinating reading about Kate and all the details and work that goes into planning an event! I know for sure I'd never be able to do anything like that with how often I forget things 😂
Drake was such a cool character. I absolutely adored the relationship he has with his siblings and mother! I always love me a bro moment. 😌 His little pooch was so cute as well!
The way Kate and Drake met will always be something I remember. I squealed a bit too much during it. The moment was so eventful and funny, but also a bit steamy and I was all here for it!

How Sweet It Is is such a cute story. I really liked the characters and how everything played out. Their "meet cute" was hilarious. I was laughing so hard. I highly recommend How Sweet It Is so please read it. You'll love it!
I didn't really get into this one. I was hoping to like it, but about a third of the way in and it's just not grabbing me. Maybe I'll try again in the future, but right now it's a DNF from me.
*Thank you @readforeverpub for the copy in exchange for an honest review. Review not posted to Amazon/Goodreads because less than 4 stars or DNF.*
Hello
Apologies for the late notice, but I have decided not to review this title.
While I am certain it's obvious by now, I wanted to also clear this off NetGalley, so it's not showing as open for either of us.
I look forward to continuing to work with you in 2023 and beyond.
Laura
I wasn't quite connecting with this one and I had to DNF with the possibility of picking up in the future. Thank you for the opportunity to read the book and I apologize for the inconvenience.
Thank you to Forever/Grand Central Publishing and NetGalley for this advanced copy in exchange for my honest opinion.
I loved the concept of this book; it was really sweet but also fell flat for me in the romance department. Ultimately, this book was just “okay” for me but I know a lot of people enjoyed it so definitely read it if the description interests you! The meet cute was hysterical and not one I had seen before.
Such a sweet premise and it has promise in the beginning, but like a lot of my other books lately… it just fell flat. The chemistry was absent and the characters just felt blah. It had such potential with the one character being an event planner and the other an author, but it just didn’t pan out as I had hoped.
I kind of gave up midway through on this story, as I moved in another direction. Nonetheless, I appreciate the opportunity to review!
Such a fun opposites attract romance. An event planner who must plan a party for a horror writer. The chemistry flew off the page. I felt it was a fun quick read.
