The is a great addition to my rom-com shelf! Love that it was in a small town in New York state - and two really diverse characters - Kate a wedding planner and Drake an author of horror stories.... Who knew? Dylan definitely does! The characters were not only diverse personalities, they were flawed, loveable, spontaneous and above all, real people. What a great story, in a perfect place. Looking for more by this author.

2.5 stars rounded up to 3!!
Okay so, I was excited for this one. It sounded cute and adorable, and it was, it just didn't really work out for me as I expected.

I didn't feel the chemistry, it felt a little staged if that makes any sense, and at some point I just lost interest. There were cute moments and it had a lot of potential, but sadly I didn't enjoy it as much as I wanted to, it was just fine.

An e-arc was provided by the publisher through Netgalley in exchange for an honest review.

I LOVED this romance! I received a copy of the story from Netgalley and I had put it off for some time. I’m so glad I finally dove in!
Kate is a premier event planner who specializes in romantic weddings and bringing love to life.
Drake is a famous horror author with a book launch to plan.
Their unlikely fields cross when Kate is hired to plan his book launch and from their first meeting, chemistry is strong!

What I loved most about this book is the fact that you get romance but some spooky references mixed in with drake being a horror author. I’m a huge thriller reader and while this book is nowhere near a thriller, I loved that we saw that aspect of Drake’s life. I think when fall is upon us, this book will be PERFECT for any readers who love romance but want to get into the season at the same time!

How Sweet It Is contains all the love and charm that was promised. This book is a must read for any romance lover.

Kate Sweet is Queen of Happily Ever Afters. Drake Matthews is the Knight of Nightmares. What could be a better combination for falling in love?

This book was full of humorous situations, intimate moments, and family drama. Dylan Newton does a wonderful job combining them all together for a story you can’t help falling for.

5 stars

Thank you to @authordylannewtwon and @readforeverpub for a copy of this book in exchange for my honest review.

I really enjoyed this one. It was a fast read with a forced proximity trope. I loved getting a POV from both Kate and Drake to see what they were thinking about one another. One thing that I really liked about their relationship was it was awkward at times. From the moment they met things never went as planned. It added the humor I was missing from the banter. The “conflict” that the couple had to go through was really short lived and so it made the ending a little rushed, but overall an enjoyable read.

Thank you @readforeverpub @netgalley for the gifted copy.

I swooned so hard reading this! So damn cute with a bit of sizzle and spice. The slow burn had me hooked and I loved the whole story. I knew I was onto a winner when the shih tzu appeared 😍 I'm loving books about men who are either reading or writing romance atm they make me happy. Kate and Drake made me smile, laugh and the chemistry between them made me need a cold shower. I just didnt want to put this down. I can't wait for the next book.

Loved this book. Kate and Drake are a great duo — the back and forth between them is funny and entertaining. A great little romance book for this who have loved Emily Henry or Christina Lauren.

Thank you Grand Central Publishing and Netgalley for the opportunity to read this!

Dylan was a guest in tne podcast promoting this book and it was just so good. I really love her take on a romcom. I love that she meshed her favorite genre of horror within romance.

This was such a cute, funny read, and exactly what I needed in the moment! I loved the characters, their connection kept me turning the page, and I finished in just a couple of reading sessions. The Halloween setting was great, as I love all things Halloween. I was happy with the ending, and overall highly recommend this book!

“People like to label others. It makes them feel as if they know you, or at least, they know in which box you belong. Some people put me in a career box, some put me in a box that’s about my surgeon family, or a box about people who grew up on Long Island. All those boxes are part of me, but none of them define me. I’ve tried to be true to what’s inside.”

Kate Sweet owns her own event company, usually designing and pulling off weddings and happily ever afters. But with a lot of open time on her hands and the chance to prove to her family and herself that she is able to do more, Kate finds herself planning a different kind of event. She says yes to helping out her publicist friend, Imani’s author with his next book launch. But not just an book launch, one for Drake Matthews, writer of horror books. Kate has just a few weeks and her work cut out for her to pull off an event to remember.

How Sweet It Is was just that, oh so sweet. I loved Drake and his family (I hope there is more books with his brothers in the future). I liked how confidence Kate was, but how she still was vulnerable and looking for some approval that she was good at her job. I loved the chaos that seemed to follow the two of them around, but also how it seemed to work. For Drakes writing bc but also for the two of them. Plus the setting, time of year and small town vibes were definitely a character in itself.

I cannot wait to read more by Dylan Newton, since this was my first. Lastly, one thing I know for sure is, the book left me wanting to read Drake’s next novel Memory’s Lane.

When event planner Kate Sweet agrees to help her childhood best friend out with the launch of a horror novel/film, she has no idea how much her life will change. Drake Matthews, known as the Knight of Nightmares has been suffering writer's block since his ex girlfriend wrote a tell all book about him whilst cheating on him. He is dreading a big launch party until he meets Kate who quickly becomes an inspiration to him and a secret project he has been working on. Whilst their professional collaboration seems to be moving along well, so does their personal one until an accidental error may bring it all to an end. A great story with some great characters.

just finished this cute, feel good romcom ! while it wasn’t by far my favourite, it was pretty fun lol.

i really enjoyed how fast paced this book was. it felt like i was flying through pages !
i also love the fact that the male interest in this book is a horror writer ! it was interesting to see little fragments of his new romance book as well. it was a book-inside-a-book trope going on.
also the amount of times i giggled throughout the book 😂 ngl Kate and Drake are both quite funny.
we also get two povs which i also appreciate, so you get to see what both of the main characters feel like and think about certain situations. they’re such overthinkers, so i could really damn relate 😂

while it was fun and all, it’s not something unique. avid romance readers won’t find anything special in this book.
i was really invested in about 2/3 of the book, but towards the end i was quite done with that book, i wanted it to wrap up and be done 😂
i also didn’t care at all for the sex scene and i was just cringing throughout the damn thing, but that’s just me. someone might call it lowkey steamy lmaoo
i also don’t really like reading about weddings in books or event plans, i just find it a bit boring 🤷🏻‍♀️

in any case, people who love romance should totally pick this up, it’s funny ! it was a light read, which i was really in the mood for and this choice was ok for me 😂

This was a cute romance with some funny moments and steam. I liked both Kate and Drake and their opposites attract romance. I enjoyed the horror writer angle and seeing different parts of a writer's life from inspiration to book launch to fans. The story included some great supporting characters including Kate's best friend Imani and Drake's brothers. It ended with a sweet epilogue and I look forward to the author's next book.

This debut rom-com checked all of the boxes for me, from troupes to the adorable and recognizable cover. The push-pull, will they won't they or the two main leads was just what I wanted from this book, plus it was set during my favorite season and the hero was a horror author. As a horror reader and a romance reader, this was the best of both worlds. I would absolutely read another book from Newton!

HOW SWEET IT IS by Dylan Newton is a sweet rom-com with a Halloween-vibe.

I loved the flirty banter between our main characters, Kate and Drake. Their first meeting was way over the top cringeworthy, but I loved how they bounced back and the storyline had a quick pace. There was never a time when I felt the story dragged, which is a huge plus! All of the characters were great, especially Drake’s brothers and mom.

The ending seemed a little too tidy and all the drama was wrapped up a bit too quickly. I still loved it and I’m hoping we get more books with this cast because I feel like there are so many possibilities!!

A quick, fun, and sweet opposites attract book! It reminded me of a Hallmark style story with a bit of heat. The characters of Kate "Queen of Happily Ever Afters" and Drake "Knight of Knightmares" were likeable and relatable. Their meet cute was adorably fun! The alternating points of view was a wonderful way to tell their story.
I highly recommend this book if you're looking for a sweet, laugh out loud and simply delightfully romantic book. I am grateful to the publishers for providing me a copy of this book in exchange for a honest review.

I thought this was a cute romcom with fun characters. Kate is the event planner for, horror author, Drake’s new book release. They meet under awkward circumstances and then have to overcome a misunderstanding. Overall a cute book with wonderful characters.

Eeee! I can't say enough great things about this one! How Sweet It Is was SO good...definitely one of my faves of 2021. Event Planner Kate is asked to do the book launch for the famous horror writer, Drake Matthews, and as one would expect, shenanigans ensue. With well written and likable characters {both the main characters and the secondary ones, too}, a fun and steamy storyline, and fall/Halloween vibes, rom com lovers are sure to fall in love with this debut novel from Dylan Newton. Looking forward to more from her...possibly a sequel featuring the Matthews brothers, hmmm?!!

Do yourself a favour and puck this one up.
