This comic was so cute, at first I thought that it was more for children or preadolescents, but quickly felt related with some strugglings of life it shows. And obviously with Gudetama’s laziness/depression. It was very entertaining and I would risk to say: important. Simple and important.
Already going for the others comics of Gudetama bc now Im a fan.

Ah Gudetama. My favorite lazy egg.

In this delightful graphic novel, the beloved existential egg begins their mindfulness journey, passing along their newfound skills and knowledge to others along the way. From the first simple lesson - saying good morning to people makes you and others feel happy and acknowledged - I was smiling, convinced. What a simple thing to do! And this book is full of simple and effective lessons just like this one. Told in little vignettes, these lessons introduce different mindfulness techniques and reminders of how to be present, positive, and thoughtful.

The thing is, sometimes, some days, these things don’t feel small. But knowing I can look at them now and think they are, means maybe on a tougher day I can look back and remember I once thought they were!

I feel oh so happy and hopeful after reading this very cute and thoughtful graphic novel.

I'm not quite a fan of Gudetama but I did grab this because of Mindfulness.

Art - Art is engaging and catchy. It does get a little bit crowded in some boxes that confuse my eyes. It does give you a great visualization of the whole book/story. It's nice to see how mindfulness can be taught through a graphic novel or short comic.

Content - Explains simple ways that we can practice mindfulness every day. It's a great start for beginners. For sure people won't get bored with learning about mindfulness with these types of comics. It's a nice reminder for everyone.

There’s something about Gudetama that speaks to my soul. I, too, am a cute, wobbly, perpetually tired blob who naps more than I should. And when I saw this on NetGalley, I was mostly just excited about Gudetama. But when I saw it was actually a book on mindfulness, I decided I needed to give it a read. I’ve heard a lot about the benefits of practicing mindfulness and have been wanting to learn more about it.

The illustrations are cute, colorful, and kid-friendly, and the book definitely feels like it’s geared toward a younger audience. But for adults who are new to mindfulness (and who enjoy cute, colorful illustrations) it can also serve as a very basic primer to the key concepts. The language is simple enough for kids to understand, but not so simple that an adult would feel pandered to. Some of the highlights are the importance of empathy and consideration towards the feelings of others, living in the present (getting out of your own head, but also, getting your head out of the clouds), staying positive and reducing stress and anxiety, and the many ways that these different aspects of mindfulness feed into each other and are intertwined.

Recommended to anyone who appreciates cuteness and could benefit from an easy introduction to mindfulness.

Very nice and concise explanation of how to be more mindful of other people and their feelings. Good for kids to learn to not stress about everything and living in the moment.

This is a good introduction to mindfulness, empathy/sympathy and kindness for children. The art style is very vibrant, with characters that the target audience would find adorable. I wish there was more Gudetama, as I was attracted to this graphic novel because I find his character to be amusing. While I'm not part of the target audience, this was still an entertaining, albeit quick, reading experience.

This was really cute and could be a good read for some people! It's a good way to remind yourself how to be mindful if you did not already. And with some cute characters to help you learn!

The artwork was fun. In a nutshell this represents a very funny and short comic series about mindfulness.
Gudetama is very cute and he accompanies different persons and stories to explain and educate them what mindfulness means and how we can integrate this in our day to day activities and thoughts.
I would recommend this to everyone who is a beginner in the notion of mindfulness as well as for children since this might shape their behaviour and the artwork will engage them for sure in continuing reading.

Very fun and lighthearted whilst still bringing up important messages about self-care and learning to be present.

I just love eggs. Everything about them. Green eggs and ham. Lord Worpolstons Eggs Eggs Eggs Damn all eggs.... and I lurv this nekked egg character just chillin sunny side up; he seems the epitome of mindfulness. Unfortunately that’s all that i did love. I really hated his way-too-happy pointy and frenetic sidekick. He was annoyingly cloying and effervescent. I hated the tension and angst of each vignette, which left me feeling stressed out and needing to skim just to get through it. There were some good messages about being kind to others and about being socially resilient but not necessarily any about mindfulness. Also the book wasn’t very humorous. Thank you NetGalley for giving me a peek at this.

I adore Gudetama and enjoyed this book!

It's a little shorter than I expected and was an easy read. We follow Gudetama learning about mindfulness techniques, like saying hi to people. We also encounter other grumpy individuals who are unsure of mindfulness.

Overall it's a cute look at being mindful and how Gudetama gets drug along into learning new things.

This was a joy to read! I thought the characters were well designed and pass on some good vibes and tips for children and adults alike. It looks to be a nice bridge to reach those audiences interested in manga and webtoons and inform them of the importance of mindfulness. Big thanks to the publisher and Netgalley for the ARC!

This was the first Gudetama comic I have read, and I enjoyed it! I thought the artwork was cute, colourful and not too overpowering.
I enjoyed the messages learnt from this graphic novel, and especially liked the simple and easy to relate to examples.
A couple of my favourite parts include the ‘what is empathy?’ and ‘what is sympathy?’ section as well as the genius flow chart you can use to decide whether or not you should reply to a message. This flow chart instantly made me think of one of my students who sometimes receives messages on their social media and struggles with what to do. I will FOR SURE be showing her this flowchart, and am going to request a hard copy of this graphic novel for her use.

I will defiantly consider using this novel in a classroom setting as I think it would be really beneficial to my students.

This is a cute and playful way to help teach about the practice of mindfulness and how it affects yourself and people around you. I wasn't expecting to learn to much from a lazy egg but I was delighted to find helpful information here. It seems to be aimed at middle grade and high school students and those that are just looking into mindfulness and what that means and how to apply it in real life. For those that already have to basic ideas down there isn't much to learn here but it is a cute refresher on the topics and a good reminder that humor is a great teacher. It would have been nice if more in-depth information was given but this is a great introduction to these concepts and is easy to understand.

Gudetama just met a new friend that says hi to everyone in their community. But Gudetama is too lazy to learn why. Nisetama is going to help Gudetama and the readers to learn about mindfulness!

This was an a adorable graphic novel! I love how the illustrator made Gudetama and Nisetama in their original form but the other human characters are his own. I thought it was very well done and the colors definitely matches Gudetama very well. I don't know if the illustrator/author works with Sanrio, but I think he did a very good job with complimenting the universe to Gudetama.

The book includes short stories of different ways to be mindful. Whether it be face-to-face, in social media, with strangers, or with close friends, Gudetama and Nisetama are here to help being mindful of others.

This is my personal opinion, but I appreciate having Nisetama around. It looks like he is more than Gudetama's assistant but also as a friend. And the energy he has does not overshadow Gudetama. And I think the illustrator/author did a great job of that.

Also. the minor characters in the book are adults, and Gudetama does help even when it's about adulting, and holidays, as mentioned in other books. I know that this book is intended for adults, but I think this is also kid-friendly. I'm not too sure about the other books, but this Mindfulness for the Lazy is definitely a helpful tool also for kids and young adults.

The situations in the book are very generic. It definitely shares more in the broad perspective. But it is definitely up to the reader for them to realize specific situations in their lives.

I think the graphic novel is great, colorful, and mindful! It's a short one too that can be read in one sitting.

Was not for me sorry it had some good points about mindfulness and generally being a good person but these points then just seemed to get lost in nonsense and gibberish and it left me feeling weird. Maybe you enjoy this if you're a fan of gudetama, but I didnt and therefore I couldn't recommend this book to anyone else I'm sorry.

Came across this gem as I was browsing Netgalley for comics and graphic novels to request/read. It's a short lovely book that gives different situations wherein there are various applications and definitions of the word MINDFULNESS.

It dabbles on the topics of self-care, empathy, sympathy, dealing with anxiety, being the bigger person, making sound decisions, and taking the next steps to improve one's self.

Check this book out if you want a short but sweet comic about a lazy egg teaching mindfulness to people!

This was a cute, colorful guide on how to be more mindful in the modern world, especially for those who don't have a lot of time to... Or just would rather take a nap. It takes place in little episodes, each with their own moral. I would have liked to see more focus on Gudetama rather than Nisetama, but it was nice to see them working together to be more mindful. I definitely related to Gudetama's laziness... But there were a lot of nice tips in the book that I'll take with me for the future.

I discovered Gudetama many years ago. He is a Japanese cartoon egg who only wants to nap all day. I highly recommend watching some clips on Youtube if you're not familiar with him. Being an avid napper, Gudetama has always resonated with me and I was very excited to see this Gudetama manga/cartoon book aimed at helping people practice more mindfulness in their life.

The artwork is vibrant and cute, and the lessons in the book are very important, and the world would be a better place if everyone practiced mindfulness and treated people the way they want to be treated, The book tackles topics on sharing, overcoming anxiety, how not to be an internet troll, and sympathy vs empathy. I feel like children need to learn these concepts at a young age. And the author explains these concepts in an easy to understand way.

After the first third of the book I was thinking that a book like this should be mandatory for children to read and discuss in classrooms. But then more scenarios were presented such as social media issues and I started wondering what the target age is for the book. I feel like the writing seems to be directed to elementary children but the scenarios are more geared towards teens and adults. I personally don't know if elementary kids could grasp the nuance of certain scenarios. This would probably be best aimed at preteens.

As an adult reading it, it feels like a 3 star book but I probably would feel differently if I had children who I could read this to and discuss the scenarios and the importance of practicing mindfulness with.
