A quiet, friendly neighborhood. A place full of friendly gatherings, where neighbors look out for one another. And then a murder happens.
But what if the convicted murderer has her conviction overturned. And what if she moves back into the neighborhood?
This was a great read! I would have liked to know a little more about the different characters, but overall I really enjoyed this book and would definitely recommend it.
I gave this book 3⭐️

Thank you to NetGalley, the publishing house and the author for the opportunity to read an advance reader copy of this book in return for a review based upon my honest opinion.
This was a great summer read, I read it while travelling on vacation and it kept my attention. The storyline was full of suspense regarding this sketchy group of neighbours who are far too interested in what one another is up to.
When Ruby returns to the neighbourhood of Hollows Edge after being released from prison, the neighbours cannot believe that she has come back., Harper most of all is shocked when Ruby shows up with her bags intent on picking up right where their roommate relationship left off. The neighbours all believe her guilty, even though she got out on a technicality.
As we see Ruby’s interactions with the neighbours, Harper believes she knows by she is back, revenge. The action leads up to a neighbourhood party when one of the guests ends up dead.
The ending was well written and I really liked this book.
Will definitely check out more books by this author.

I received a free copy of this book.
This was my third book by Ms. Miranda and it’s, unfortunately, my least favourite to date.
For one, the supposed closeness of the neighbours, the arrival of the prodigal lass who was, said she, wrongfully sent to jail and the main character who seemed a bit stupid at time even though she’s an educated woman.
In my opinion, many things were a bit too far-fetched like someone not changing the lock after some traumatic event like what appears to be a murder next door and not locking one’s door when home even during the day.
My first read by Ms. Miranda was All the Missing Girls and it sucked in as did The Perfect Stranger but this one didn’t.
Nonetheless, it was a good story and it was worth reading it.

Thank you so much for the review copy of Such A Quiet Place! Megan Miranda is a well loved author in the thriller genre and I am always interested in her releases. Unfortunately, her books always seem to fall a bit flat for me. I'm always wanting just a bit more, but can't really put my finger on it. I like this author's writing style and feel like she is great for people just dipping their toes into thrillers. Maybe I've just read too many dark books haha!

I received this book as an arc through NetGalley. I did not like this book. I found it really hard to get into. The first half of the book was repetitive and it dragged in some of the spots. I did enjoy the second half of the book and how the story ended. There are some moral parts that I would get from this book, such as we are always being watched. I could see this happening in any neighbourhood.

Such a Quiet Place by Megan Miranda takes place in Hollow’s Edge, a small community where all the neighbours know each other and everyone feels secure and safe. Until a couple are murdered in their bed. Then everyone begins living in fear. No one feels safe and even their homes become unsalable as the vacant murder house remains empty. Fourteen months after Ruby Fletcher is convicted of the double murders, her conviction is overturned and she returns to Hollow’s Edge. Why has she returned and how will the residents react to her living in their midst? From this point on, not much can be revealed. This is a minute by minute thriller and absolutely nothing is as it seems. Just when you get the impression that you have solved the mystery, another clue appears to change all you know so far. There are some great characters here: some you will sympathize with, some you will mistrust. The plot is ever changing and there will not be a boring sentence. This is a tense thriller that grabs the reader from the beginning sentence to the shocking ending. Megan Miranda is an author to follow. Highly recommended. Thank you to Simon & Schuster Canada, NetGalley and the author for the e-ARC in exchange for an honest review.

I loved this one! I was immediately drawn in to this classic 'who done it' thriller. The tension and curiosity was tangible. The only downfall for me was the fast wrap up. I wanted more detail and more in depth unravelling. Read every word carefully!
Thanks NG for the advanced copy!

I really liked this book! I'm a fan of Megan Miranda so I was excited to read this one. The book started a little slow for me but it really picked up in the second half and I could not put it down! It's a who done it book that has a creepy vibe to it which I loved! The story line was creative but I felt like the characters could have been fleshed out a bit more. Overall, really good thriller.

Such a Quiet Place is a fascinating look into what can be hiding behind the perfect facade of the gated community of Hollow's Edge, where the life of Harper Nash and her neighbours are not as they appear. As the story unravels, Harper's notorious housemate Ruby Fletcher is back from spending time in prison for a murder conviction that was overturned. Instead of starting out fresh, she returns to the community, and the house, where all of the neighbours including Harper, believe that she killed their neighbours. As you learn more and more about the neighbours, the background of Harper herself, and why she allowed Ruby back into her life, the story becomes more complicated that just did she, or didn't she. Between the lies, the truth, the secrets, the deceptions, and the plot twists, nothing is as it appears. A times a story about betrayals, revenge, deep secrets, and seeking the truth, Such a Quiet Place will keep you guessing. Thank you to Netgalley and Simon and Schuster for the advanced copy.

Ruby Fletcher returns to the same neighbourhood and neighbours who collectively and ruthlessly helped put her behind bars for what would have been a life sentence for the murder of their neighbours. After 14 months of prison time, her conviction is overturned on an appeal and she decides to return to Hollow’s Edge, the place she once called home presumably to seek revenge or get to the bottom of what really transpired. It was a bit anti-climatic for me and things didn't really pick up. I find Megan Miranda's style of writing to be more for slow burn lovers if that's even a thing lol. I found the story to be messy, repetitive, full of empty and unlikeable characters, and some really dull turn of events. The premise was great and had potential to be an awesome circus of a thriller but it didn't really happen, at least not for me. Cest la vie. This is my second book by this author and I'm not sure if I'll read future books by her but I feel like others might like this suburban thriller more than I did

Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for an electronic copy to read and review.
I am becoming a huge Megan Miranda fan. I love the way she creates crimes/mysteries and you really have no idea who is capable or guilty of what. This one kept me on the edge of my seat and guessing. I thought I had it figured out, but the next chapter proved me so very wrong.

A slow, intriguing, hard to put down book. I found it to be twisty and gripping. Took a little bit to really get into but I enjoyed it once I did.

This is a compulsive read. Safe, quiet neighbourhood. Murder. Secrets everywhere. And the convicted killer returns after being freed on a technicality. Very slow burn that kept me shaking my head until I figured it out (I DID!). Easy summer read with lots of mystery and intrigue. Unfortunately I didn’t really care about any of the characters and finished it feeling like - “meh… what am I reading next”? But if you want a decent beach read, featuring nosy neighbours, murder and mystery, this one is a good option. #SuchAQuietPlace
Thanks to the publisher and NetGalley for the ARC in exchange for a fair and honest review.

Megan Miranda has joined my "fail safe authors" list a few books ago. Such a Quiet Place just reaffirmed the validity of that statement. My only complaint is that life kept getting in the way of my reading - this is a great vacation read, ideally the kind of vacation where interruptions are optional.
Hollow's edge is a small, quiet community whose residents' lives are connected both in personal and professional domains as most of them are employed at a nearby university. The image of a tightly knit neighborhood is shattered by the murder of Truett couple and one of their own (Ruby Fletcher) arrested and tried for their murder. After her conviction get overturned, Ruby's return further shakes up the fragile status quo the other residents have been trying to maintain. As we get to know the residents and how Ruby connects to each one of them, Hollow's edge becomes anything but quiet.
This books was highly entertaining, well paced and would definitely make a fun mini-series. Psychological thrillers seem to be a hot commodity on the reading market at the moment and this is definitely one of the better ones. Just don't make the same mistake I made and start this book on a "school night", it's definitely a "one more chapter" kind of read.
A huge thank you to Simon & Schuster Canada and netgalley for gifting me an ARC of this book in exchange for an honest review.

An engaging slow burn mystery that would have readers wanting to finish the book rather than put it down. I would definitely read more by this author as I enjoy the pacing and plot. A new go-to mystery author is always a plus for me. Thanks to NetGalley for providing me with a free ARC in return for my honest review.

The residents of Hollows Edge used to be friendly with one another. That was until the murder of Brandon and Fiona Truett. The murderer: Ruby Fletcher, the next-door neighbour who everyone testified against to put her behind bars. Now, 14 months after her conviction, Ruby is released from jail, free of charges. Ruby waltzes back into their lives, making herself at home with her old roommate, Harper Nash. The only problem is that Ruby is determined to discover who the true murderer is, and everyone is a suspect.
This was a fun mystery thriller. It's definitely a slow burn, and it did take me some time to get through, but the conclusion was one I didn't see coming. I liked how no one could be trusted in this book, and how everyone could have a motive for the Truett's death. The tension between the neighbourhood was palatable and I enjoyed finding out everyone's motives for accusing Ruby of the murder. I think the biggest complaint I have for the book is that a lot of the characters blurred together for me and it was difficult to distinguish them from one another at times.
Overall it was fun, but a little slow at times.

I've read every single one of Megan Miranda's adult thrillers, and I've been constantly chasing the high of her book ALL THE MISSING GIRLS, which is one of my all time favorite thrillers.
While a few of her titles truly give me chills and keep me up at night, her latest, SUCH A QUIET PLACE, was, as the title may suggest, a little tame and uneventful (in my honest opinion).
The story takes place in a cozy, lakeside town, where 14 months previously a local was arrested and found guilty of murder. Now, just over a year later, she's been released and returned home, hell-bent on proving her innocence and uncovering whoever was truly guilty of the original crime.
It's a town where no one feels safe, everyone has secrets, and they all pretend everything is perfectly fine even though they know it's absolutely not.
SUCH A QUIET PLACE is a fairly quick read, and would be great to binge over a weekend or while lounging on a beach. While I didn't stay up late flipping pages and reading this one, it was an overall enjoyable read, albeit a little slow.
Thank you to the publisher Simon & Schuster Canada for providing me a digital ARC via NetGalley. SUCH A QUIET PLACE came out on July 13 and can be purchased wherever books are sold.

Another great read from Megan Miranda! Harper's life in picturesque Hollow's Edge was once quiet and to be envied. But then some of her neighbours were found dead and one of their own, her roommate, Ruby, was sent to prison. Once her former roommate's sentence is overturned and she returns to Harper's home, life in Hollow's Edge is again thrown into turmoil. This book was a bit of a slow-burn throughout and then culminated in a few small twists, but I loved it. There are a number of characters introduced throughout the story, but the author made it easy to keep track of them and they were differentiated enough that it wasn't confusing. In particular, I adored the interactions between Harper and Ruby and trying to figure out everyone's motivations and what had really happened.
I've really enjoyed other books by Megan Miranda and so I was very pleased to have the opportunity to read an e-galley of Such a Quiet Place. Thanks to NetGalley, the author, and Simon & Schuster Canada for the opportunity to read it in exchange for an honest review.

This one started out strong but I lost interest along the way. I think the problem was the amount of characters - way too many. I honestly lost track of who was who and wasn’t invested enough to go back to check who they were. The storyline was really good and had a lot of potential but again fell flat. I hope you have better luck with this one if you decide to pick it up!
Thank you to the publisher and @netgalley for providing a free advanced copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

I enjoyed this twisty, claustrophobic read, set in a close knit community full of secrets. For me, the real strength of the novel was the slow building sense of tension and the pacing. Short chapters helped to propel me through the story, and I appreciated how well Miranda brought the lakeside neighborhood to life. Something about this one gave me a similar feeling to reading a classic Agatha Christie, village mystery. Everyone could be hiding something, and probably is. I could easily imagine reading this in one can't-look-away sitting, preferably on the dock. Good fun.
